I think that the uneducated Whoopi wouldn't say that about Robin Roberts. I forgot about her. Another reason for Paula being better off with more time on GMA. Robin is a much better person than Miss Whoopi will ever be and is probably a joy to work with.

I don't think everything is factual in that article but there might be some truth in there. I wouldn't trust Miss Whoopi as far as I could throw her and I also wouldn't be surprised that Sara is moving right on in with her kissing up to her highness and not backing her good friend from GMA if she had the chance to. Something is not right about Sara to me since she went on the show. On GMA this past weekend Sara made a comment that "they don't let me do hard news." She's the entertainment reporter over there. Paula and Dan are the anchors with Ron doing the news and Rob doing weather. I think Sara might just be an ambitious little thing who is incredibly needy as we saw when she complained about her husband and motherhood. Some people call her "airhead" but I think she is dumb as a fox. Paula has a husband, 3 kids, is a pretty woman, does a good job on GMA and you can tell she and Dan have a good relationship. Dan even gave Paula kudos this weekend. As a way to give his support maybe. Different folks at GMA. Good people. The View is tainted by the hateful moderator and ABC made a big mistake resigning her to a contract and not giving it to Joy full time.

Whoopi and her suggestion that it's fine for women to have sex with more than one person in a day ... wow.  Is this what women's lib has achieved for us? LOL.  Sorry, but whether its a man or woman doing such things, I just can't get behind that being a regular, day-to-day thing that's fine and dandy for either gender.  Maybe I am showing my age, I dunno.  But I am going to have to give that idea a solid "thumbs down." I wish someone had asked Whoopi if she would recommend such a pattern of sexual behavior to her daughter or grandchildren.  Because I can't believe anyone would.

I have to add, Whoopi really seems to be trying to come across as some kind of sexual gunslinger and I wish she would give it the hell up.  It's gross, way TMI, and frankly I don't believe a word of what she says.  Moving on ...

I was in the kitchen listening during most of the Bolling (Fox guy) interview.  I thought they had escorted Sarah from the stage beforehand or something. I didn't realized she was still there until I came back into the living room.  She commented like ... once.  She needs to be more involved in the "serious" discussions and not just crap-segments like The Bachelor.  She's like the "anti-Nicole" (who couldn't participate in the frivolous discussions because she was out of touch with pop culture).  There has to be a balance. You can't sit there mute for half the show every day. 

I have to admit, I found Joy a bit annoying today.  Some days she sounds like just as big a zealot for liberal ideas as the conservative mouthpieces she complains about.  Even though I agree with a lot of her opinions, sometimes the way she slings them around like you're crazy or stupid or amoral if you don't agree with her really puts me off.  The exchange with Bolling about climate change was a prime example.  Joy equating not believing in global warming with a lack of concern for the futures of children was unfair.  It's possible to reject the idea that global warming is a real thing and still care about children.  The two things are not inextricably linked.  If she wants to question someone's intelligence because they reject the idea global warming, fine.  But suggesting a person doesn't care about children because they don't believe in it feels like a artful, manipulative argument tactic Paula would use to undermine someone who disagrees with her. Joy doesn't need to stoop to that. 

Her back and forth with Bolling about Obama being "brilliant/I don't think he is/ well I DO" was just silly.   As was calling Bolling's point about people leaving the work force effecting unemployment stats "baloney."  There is an intelligent way to challenge a point being made and that is not how you do it (See: Sunny Hostin any day of the week).  Maybe Bolling was working Joy's last nerve after being on the show for so long, perhaps.  But that is when you dig down and find your professionalism.  You don't give into the urge to smirk and act childish.

Now, I'm trying to figure out who will be on next season

-Guest hosts Jedediah Bila and Sara Haines - both of whom will be named as permanent co-hosts alongside Sunny Hostin for Season 20

-When The View returns for Season 20 this Fall, it will appear that the show has eight co-hosts including the previously mentioned talent and the always absent Candace Cameron Bure. But viewers will notice after a few weeks that the network will gradually phase out Faris and Symone, leaving the show with a solid six for the first-person panel.

So they are going to start with 8 cohosts and end up with 6 ie Whoppi, Joy, airhead Sara Haines, Sunny, CCB and Jediasdfghjkl.

Haven't they learned yet that 6 are not needed?

I, personally, prefer Paula over Jedi. My previous post, saying "love it" referred to my dislike of Hasselbeck, not Paula. When you say "Republicans will have low numbers," I'm not sure what you mean. The focus groups ABC uses are a cross-section of TV viewers, not posters from this board.

What?  Without seeing the show this cracked me up because it sounds like something Whoopi would say, not because she believed it but just to be ornery.   Whoopi and her sex life is a topic I'd really rather not consider and I agree she tries waaaay to hard to make us see her that way.  Blech.

I believe they brought on Paula as someone who could challenge Whoopi knowing that Whoopi was really bringing the show down but not being able to fire her for all sorts of reasons. Paula tried. Then Sunny came along who could challenge Whoopi intellectually and was not subject to Whoopi's bullying tactics.  Now Paula's role has been usurped. This will be interesting to see how Whoopi vs. Sunny plays out because Sunny doesn't feel inferior to Miss Whoopi in any way. Parenting advice? No, thank you. I know how to parent. Professional advice? No, thank you. I'm good. How to get along in a racially divided world? Been there, done that. Relationship advice? Not wanted or appreciated.

It seems to me that Whoopi bullys the co-hosts whom she feels threatened by and Paula was a threat because she has plenty of broadcast experience and can actually moderate the table. 

Sunny isn't a threat - yet - because she's not signed on as a full co-host - yet and I have no idea if she can moderate the table but if she can then she better look out.    

The only reason Whoopi leaves Joy alone is she knows Joy is immune to her crap.   But believe me, if Sarah or Raven or even that dumbass CCB were able to successfully moderate the table they would be on Whoopi's shit list too.

I say that because I don't believe The View draws many conservative viewers. I have that thought mostly because it's mocked pretty heavily by conservatives in general (for instance, that quote from Romney that got attention back in 2012 during the election). Plus, I think it's unlikely many conservatives would watch a show with only women talking anyway... (And some of them not young and blonde!)

Paula isn't a famous actress but she is well known to GMA watchers. Paula is a Christian and probably sees the good in people before she sees the evil. She has probably prayed on it. That's what they do. But, like Rosie O, who has said that the show "isn't a good fit" for her that means that she didn't want to have to go to work in that environment. The others kiss her ass so they can have  the damn job. I'm sure that every one of the people either behind and in front of the camera know damn well that Miss Whoopi is a bitch that they'd rather not have to deal with but ABC has decided she is the moderator, so they do what they have to do.

I hope Sunny finally is the one person to give the bully what's due. It's a long time coming.

I'm probably wrong but I don't remember The Great and Powerful Miss Whoopi really bullying anyone before Bab's and Sweaty Geddie's departure.  Sure, she gave BW the stink eye from time to time but she didn't really start being nasty  (shaking her finger, shouting, mocking, etc.) to her co-workers until last year when Babs and Joy were gone leaving Whoopi to appoint herself The Queen of The Spew.  

I liked Paula on this show.  I liked how she smiled back every single time at Whoopi's almost constant mocking of her choices and opinions.   Whether it's true or not, I blame Whoopi for her departure although I'd like to think that Paula said, "I don't need this shit" and quit.

No, you're right. Because up until Bawawa left, Whoops still deferred to her, because can you imagine the backlash and her fired before she could take a breath, if she pointed her finger at her or yelled in her face? She got that job because of Babs.

ETA: And I have to totally disagree with Joy about how "fair" CNN is, and how they show "both sides." Bullfuckingshit. Half of their "experts" and "pundits" are Drumpf sycophants and former employees of that asshole, who signed NDAs and can't say anything against him; plus the fembots who see him as the Second Coming who will save our country from the dystopian abyss we are currently living in.

She was more than a supporter.  She was employed as an aide to his Press Secretary during his second term &, after he resigned in 1974, she moved to San Clemente to help him write his memoirs.  But you're right that her politics (past or present) are not obvious when she appears on TV as a journalist -- I only know about her history because I lived through Watergate & she was one of the many earnest young people in the background.

Thanks @3pwood. I wasn't sure. I was wee during Watergate, but I have seen a number of documentaries, and all I recalled was seeing an image of her wearing a hat at one of the conventions! And this just back up, if you will, how good journalists, know how to keep their personal political preferences/affiliations out of the work they do. Diane is just another good prime example. So again STFU, Jediblablablablablablabla, who does nothing but blah, blah, blah.  The fact that you felt the college you attended tried to "tell you" how to think, just smells fishy to me, and I don't believe you. Colleges are not Cults.

That is VILE. I am not a Paula fan because she can't make her points clearly, she just repeats the same line over and over. But she's pleasant and professional, and no one deserves that kind of assholery directed at them, privately and especially publicly.

But I do want to thank Whoopi for explaining to all us morons why nuclear weapons are bad.  I swear she started to say "if you do your homework" when she began her spiel about the dangers of nuclear fallout (not that she used the word, she called it "when you explode stuff"). Did she really think this was something that needed to be explained to the viewers like they are third graders?  It doesn't really take a lot of "homework" to be informed about the dangers of nuclear weapons for cryin' out loud.  How ignorant does she think everyone else is? 

It was just stunning to me because she really did share this nugget of information like it is something people don't know and need her to break down for them.  I swear she must be surrounded by a bunch of idiots who have no education or natural intelligence at all and look up to her like she is some kind of genius.  There is nothing else that could explain how she believes she is demonstrating this great wisdom and level of insight when she is really only talking about things that are common knowledge.  And it explains why she thinks her personal opinion is the be-all, end-all final statement on any given subject .... the people around here treat her like it is.

My thoughts exactly. STFU, Whoopi. Apparently she thinks she's smarter than everyone else, more talented, and even better at sex than the peons that make up the rest of the planet. I think Jedi hit on the point (I know, I'm shocked), because it likely has more to do with how technology is incorporated into everything and everyone has difficult with face-to-face communication now.

I agree with most of the others, re: Paula v. Whoopi. I liked her to begin with as "the conservative," but she lost me midseason because the misogyny coming out of her was nonstop for a while there. Still, I do think she's nice outside of politics (the same with Candace, too, tbh) and has tried her best to get along with the others. She and Candace may be hateful politically, but they aren't rude and disgusting like Whoopi/Elisabeth.

Maybe then she can start "The Whoopi Goldberg Show" again, tank, and realize that Whoopi did not carry The View all those years. 

Something in the Paula article about how they're trying to phase people out instead of firing them in order to save bad press might be related to Whoopi getting another season. I'm not sure why they'd be worried about it at this point, since The View might as well be called Musical Chairs after the past 3 years.

Amen on both subjects. She really does like to brag about her sex life, and she especially likes to point out that she can find a real partner any time she wants, in addition to using her vibrator.

And golly, nuclear weapons are a bad thing? Our whole lives we have been petrified by the possibility of nuclear war, but Whoopie has to remind us that it's not such a good idea to damage the environment  (although I don't remember her mentioning the terrible deaths of so many human beings, animals, and all living things too, and the possible annihilation of the entire world. She forgot to educate us about that aspect too.)

I thought I remembered that Martine wasn't involved with Sirius anymore. After looking it up, she left the company in 1992. She set up several different satellite companies like it including GeoStar. Sirius is now owned by a company called Liberty Media, which could explain the bad customer service ratings.  Her occupation now is as Chairman of United Therapeutics.

Liberty Media owns QVC and it's been on a march to the crapper ever since in terms of how they treat customers and what they allow their hosts to get away with. It's crazy. I watch it for entertainment or to get sleepy before trying to go to sleep. I admit to also using it for noise to fill the house sometimes too.

I am very disappointed to hear that CCB will be returning.  I hope her other projects keep her from appearing on a regular basis.  I just wish that Raven would not be coming back as well.  These are two we can easily do without.
