I loved the Pretty Woman-esque fashion show with Abbi and Bevers. And who would have thought that Bevers would be so good at critiquing outfits for such a specific occasion?

 

Poor Trey. He really liked Abbi so to have him hear her say that he was a joke was so harsh.

 

I wasn't surprised when Lincoln broke up with Ilana but I was sooooooo sad when he said they couldn't hang out as friends. I need more Lincoln, not less!

Ilana's final speech about Lincoln was, dare I say, extremely well acted and dramatic?  This may have been the best episode yet.  My heart breaks for Trey. 

 

I LOOOOOVE Abbi's blue bandage dress and I died when I saw it again.  Also, Ilana's carefree dancing around the City streets in the beginning, complete with an homage to the EOS commercial, in my mind anyway (

).  MADONNARIHANNAILANA as a mantra kills me.

 

BC, you are the best!!!!

This toed the line of being a little too sitcommy, but it was the better choice to have Abbi doing the hijinks.

 

I always like Ilana's mom. I love the actor, and I can't think of better casting. I also liked Ilana's brother, "Kirk Steele"!

 

I'm not surprised Lincoln wanted to move on. I think he was genuinely invested in his relationship with Ilana, but I can see why she might a little too much. I probably would have said something sooner. Not necessarily to be monogamous because I don't think Illana is under any obligation to be, and I'm not, but to at least define the relationship a little better. She never really seemed to reciprocate his feelings, and I think that's what it boiled down to. Clearly, he had no issues with her and Blake Griffin, so I think it was more Illana just not really wanting to talk about themselves with any seriousness. 

 

Trey isn't a joke, and Abbi shouldn't have said that even to make Illana feel better. However, I do think that he came on too strong too fast. But that is on Abbi to put her foot down. Even if it's, "I need to tell Ilana first what's going on and I have to think about this." Which is fair.

I recorded this ep on a later showing, and after reading some reviews and comments here, I thought I was losing my mind.  Then I rewatched from On Demand, and realized the later showing dropped out three scenes: the cold opening with the pee hand off, the Bevers fashion show, and the Wexlers on the park bench.  And it's not like my DVR cut off too soon or started too early, as I had both the end of @midnight and the beginning of that Nikki Whomever show.  Now I'm wondering if I've missed other (hilarious) scenes in other episodes.

 

In any event, I guess I'm gonna have to finally give in and watch Mrs. Doubtfire now.

I watched the later broadcast live, and when I read the recap and forum comments I thought I must have dozed off or accidentally fast forwarded half the show! But I thought I had been awake and paying attention, so it was really unsettling. I liked the episode well enough to go back and rewatch it anyway, from an earlier recording, and that's when I saw all those missing scenes.

Wow, that took a pretty dramatic turn. Poor Trey. I liked him and Abbi, even if he was a little on the intense side. I hope they can try again, but after this, I doubt it. And, while the kind of break up between Lincoln and Ilana was inevitable (he always seemed like he wanted more of an emotional connection, while she was more looking for a friend with benefits), it was still sad, especially if it means Lincoln leaves the show. He adds such a grounding element to the wackiness, he would be really missed. 

 

If anything, this episode seemed to be about communication issues, and people wanting different things, and not knowing how to verbalize them. Actually pretty sad. Huh.

I'm not into humor like what happened at the restaurant, but thought they did it well-even though it still annoyed. Not sure what that says about me. Maybe why Threes Company bothered more than entertained me?

I'll miss Lincoln too if he's gone. He's a great character.

This is just a damn good show. I don't know them and don't know their story, but have watched since season one and it's probably a show I've liked the best in a decade or so. I'm so in.

Me too! I just started watching BC last night and damn I love this show! Ilana dancing in the street was my favorite part of this ep, besides every scene with the amazing Susie "Car Wash Cunt" Essman. Can't wait to catch up on all the older eps.

I'm jealous!

This is the only place I can discuss because no one in my real life watches. My best friend I just knew would be on board, but I don't think she is.

And even though I've seen it many times, shame on me for not getting the Mrs Doubtfire homage. Though to be fair, that's far from one of my faves.

Lincoln NOOOOOO! Loved Ilana's stoicism though.

 

The rest ... well, c'mon, y'all. Be better. If I wanted to watch "one person is hiding a relationship from another person/people then bumps into them in the same restaurant (in a city stupid with restaurants), proceeds to frantically run from one date to another all night, only to be busted and is then overheard dissing said date in the end?" - and worse, KNOW that was exactly what was going to happen from the jump - I could watch, oh, everything else on TV?  

 

Even anvilicious & telegraphed Broad City is better than no Broad City at all ('cause, Bevers fashion show.) But does it have to be either/or?

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear....it was the later reairing (I think, like midnight, on the Wednesday it airs) that dropped scenes.  The On Demand had them all, so you're OK!

 

There's a clip of Mrs. Doubtfire on YouTube called "Birthday Dinner" that you can watch; it seems the whole choking scene is pretty much copied from the movie and I suppose explains why Mrs. Wexler wanted the spicy shrimp sauce on the side.
