I like Budig and think she's good, but I agree with jsbt that the last thing the show needs is another "big" character. The cast is so bloated the way it is, yet Frank and Ron are bringing in more actors? Sigh.

Has the Fan Favorite thing happened yet?

Has the Fan Favorite thing happened yet?

The poll ends on February 13th, but who knows when they'll announce the winner. We all know it's gonna be Courtney anyway.

If Rebecca Budig is coming on as a serial killer who murders half the town before killing herself then I'm fine with this casting decision.

Leo aside, I thought Greens and David Hayward were so hot together, being naughty and making people miserable. But alas, the show HAD to shove her and Ryan back together. Ick.

OMG YES! I was so into the David/Greenlee storyline and pairing for the five whole minutes it lasted. And of course they torched even their longstanding friendship when they sent her back to Ryan (ugh).

On topic... yeah, I like RB fine, but like everyone else I fail to see what she adds to the show besides another "name" actor that will strain GH's budget yet more. I'd forgive it if she were playing Sarah Webber, but... she's not, let's face it. She'll be a crazy long-lost Cassadine or O spawn or undead Olivia Jerome or something.

If Rebecca has scenes with Fin, I'll be giddy as shit. But all I care about, really, is how much I want her character to be semi-normal. No more campy characters, please.

And I can't believe I'm saying this, but Rebecca is totally the type of actress that would give life to JT's Patrick. That guy needs someone fiery and with energy, man.

Rebecca agreed to come back because they pitched her David/Greenlee, which she'd wanted. Once she signed, the new writers who came in shortly thereafter dumped that and went back to her pairing with Cameron Mathison, which she didn't care for and Brian Frons loved.

I think there may have been an ending of AMC shot or written in which Josh Duhamel's cameo as Leo was for real, not a fantasy, and she may have gone off with him. I know he filmed more than was used, and that they rewrote their original ending to do a cliffhanger as they had expected to go right onto Prospect Park's online network at that point, which led to them rejiggering a lot of things.

I think she would be the perfect Sarah Webber to break that character's curse. Unfortunately, Ron never thinks like that anymore, in terms of casting someone for an organic role connected to real history. He goes for the "wow" factor - "wow, we got Donna Mills; wow, it's Michelle Stafford!" So now - wow - Rebecca Budig, as someone "all new, because she merits an all-new character to make her own" (I'm sure that will be Ron's rationale in interviews) to come on and pull some stunt.

Although his career has cooled incredibly since then, at the time JD was a legit movie star and that a soap could lure him back and then not use him to the fullest extent was just baffling to me.

I was never a AMC viewer, but for me that trumps all of the bone-headed decisions that have been made behind-the-scenes at this show.

Groooan.

At least the repairing of Ryan/Greenlee opened the doors for two pairs I did really like - Scott/Madison and David/Cara.

Ugh I don't even want to get into that. The fact that RB and JD could recapture their chemistry so seamlessly after so many years is a testament to how powerful that pairing was. I was so pissed Leo wasn't alive when we all know JD filmed much more than they showed. FOREVER bitter.

Also, maybe RB is going to play Courtney. They have certainly been mentioning her a lot.

It's not as if Ron is above rewriting existing characters to fit his wants. Franco, anyone? I will never understand his thought process, which is probably a good thing for my own mental health. But still.

They get RB and she is not playing Robin?

I am calling it now, her character will go the way of all the big gets. Epic failure.

It is too bad because I loved her as Greenlee.

I wish they would have just brought her on as Greenlee, nice and divorced so I could finally see her away from Ryass, but alas. Greenlee already knows Anna from her stint in PV back in the early 2000s, so that's already more connections than most of the newbies RC cooks up.

Meh, for the purposes of "General Hospital", her being Greenlee would be as pointless as her being a new character will be.

There has to be a legacy character out there they could have reinvented with her, but noooo, she'll probably be connected to Silas or Nina or Nathan.

Agreed.

Another missed opportunity was not crossing over KM's Livvie.

Well Greenlee is not a killer and the character already has a fanbase. That should be an automatic plus for the current GH.

She could come to town for the opening of PC's Fusion, where Maxie goes to work for her. They can hire one of the hospital staff for the chemical aspect of their products. The more I type, the less interest I have in the new character she'll be playing.

Plus, the threat of Ryan would be too much. TOO MUCH. And I actually liked Ryan at times. But Cameron Mathison may be a worse actor than Kristen Alderson and Ryan Paevey put together.

She'll probably be Franco's sister smh.

oooh, maybe she'll want to kill Carly in revenge for cheating on her brother? That was she and Carly can get in each other's faces right away. Emmys!

But if you've never watched "All My Children", Greenlee might as well be a new character, that was my point.

In my nightmares, whatever pairing they have planned for her flops and then they try to pull another Kelly Monaco/Michael Easton by bringing in Cameron Mathison to "save her".  Noooo!

I don't think Rebecca's character will be a killer. I think Frank may have meant "killer new role" as like, an "awesome role." I'm not taking it literally.

Frank and Ron love their "clever" wordplay. Hopefully she's an assassin who will wipe out 90 percent of Port Charles with one bullet. Shawn will die purely of shame and embarrassment that he's never hit his intended target.

I have mixed feelings on this.  I was a longtime AMC fan and while I'm glad that an AMC actress has found work, I was so tired of RB/Greenlee over the last few years of AMC (including the leaving and returning and then leaving and returning a second time).  I'm sure she is a lovely person, but I have no desire to see her on GH.  I was so glad that she was nowhere near the AMC Reboot.  RB/Greenlee was shoved down our throats so much the last few years (I couldn't enjoy Greenlee/David because it was inevitable that she would end up with Ryan once again) and I could see them shoving her down our throats at GH just like they do with MS/Nina.

That will only happen in our wildest dreams. But, hey, I'll believe her character is a killer way before I'll consider her being a Robin recast, which I've still seen specced on social media. Let it go, folks! Ron will have Robin held captive for 10 years before he ever considers a recast, sadly. He doesn't care. He uses her for history, nothing else.

HAAA, not fair, ulkis!

Yet again, RC/FV are making things way harder on themselves. While I don't know about her being a perfect Sarah Webber, she would make a better Sarah than Scott Reeves did Steven Lars. But seeing how doctors are written on this show, maybe she wouldn't be better off.  But think it would be interesting if the GH Board went behind Dr.O's back to hire RB's Sarah in order to eventually ousted her as Chief of Staff in favor of one of Steve Hardy's grandchildren.

Wasn't she brought in during the last days of AMC?  I'm not superstitious, but...

I think GH has a lot of characters now already.  Why don't they give some of the women a decent storyline that does not revolve around some dude?  And, to be fair, why don't they write something for Mac or Brad?  Wasn't Brad's dad a mobster....oh wait no.  No more mobsters, please!

All I'm taking from that scene with Carly and Tracy is - shut up Emily.  Just shut.up.

This reminds me, Tyler Christopher is doing an event this summer at Fan Club Weekend with Natalia Livingston and alicia Leigh Willis. I like Nikolas and TC but if he ends up being partially responsible for bringing either of these two back, he could have stayed gone.

GH just won the best daytime drama writing award at the Writer's Guild Awards. If you all thought Ron was already insufferable he's going to be about a thousand times worse now.

What drugs do they have?! They need to SHARE.

I was just going to post this. What horrible news to wake up to on a cold Sunday morning!

So disappointing.

ETA: I decided to check RC's twitter to see how much smoke is getting blown up his ass from this. He's retweeted like 100 tweets congratulating him. This is the worst, from Chris VanEtten, who writes for the show:

only thing that would've made it better is if @NicolasJBechtel had presented the award #gh

These people need someone to come in and rid them all of their demons.
