S02.E14: Eternal Sunshine Of The Caffeinated Mind

If almost-zombie Blaine was able to transmit his curse(?) to Candy, did Major and Rita's sex do the same to her? Or was he still too close to non-zombie for transmission?

Would condoms prevent zombie transmission? I can see Blaine turning Candy for his own use, but I'd think Major would be a condom guy because he's a good guy.

I don't see why he wouldn't tell them unless he really is on Blaine's side. Oh! He needs brains...

Now that he and Liv are a couple, she might supply him from the morgue.

Blaine... didn't kill that girl scout troop when he rezzed. Could he have become a bigger, better zombie?

He wasn't hungry yet. The cure was slowing his re-transformation.

No. Ravi tried all of the brands.

He didn't turn her intentionally.  He didn't realize he was contagious again.  She's been a good henchwoman/make-up artist up to this point, and Blaine was happy to give her revenge on his father for the time his creepy Dad tortured her into admitting Blaine wasn't a zombie.

Did Blaine actually kill Candy? I know she was lying in the coffin, but I thought she was just sleeping after they had sex in there. When she woke up, she was a zombie. (I just checked, and you can see her breathing when she's sleeping in the coffin.)

I liked this one. A lot happened!

That's how he and Liv got together. He came to her desperate for a supply of brains that didn't involve Blaine so he could get out from under his thumb. Liv was on horny librarian brain at the time and gave him some of it so it would make him want her as much as it was making her want him. She confessed that when her own personality reasserted itself a little and he said he wanted her anyway. In her normal state of mind she is unsure about supplying him with brains as she isn't sure if he is a good guy or not.

Oh, right, I remember now. Duh.

Right, and since then they've been a couple—or at least more than fellow zombie acquaintances—so she might feel more inclined to supply him.

I'm a little confused about Liv's reasoning. She deliberately turned the man - at Blaine's request, wasn't it? - because he was of use to her. Now she's going to sit back with the clock ticking and decide whether he deserves to keep his tenuous grip on humanity?

Bzzzt. Sorry, girl Hamlet. Too little too late. Either kill the man or give him the damn brains.

Now you've got me confused about Drake's reasoning. Trying to think about it from his perspective, she did a monstrous thing in turning him. And she apparently did it to help out Blaine, even to the point of refusing to poach his help away. I'm trying to figure out why he even thinks she's not a villain and all I'm coming up with is she's sexy.

I got nothing. I guess he thinks he's better off undead and close to the only person he knows is looking for the cure?

Although, do we know he hasn't just broadened the scope of his undercover investigation to include her? Because she sure is at the nexus of an awful lot of criminal activity.

You're right, my bad. She was just having a post-coital nap that turned into the Big Sleep that turned into Zombieville. Initially when I saw her in the coffin and him singing on the church organ I thought he was performing some kind of sociopath's eulogy. It didn't feel right since Blaine, while a remorseless killer, is not wasteful. Edited by The Mighty Peanut

I am really bothered by them doubling down on the mocking of BLM, and it's seriously making me question continuing to watch the show, even though I otherwise like it.

Pardon my ignorance but what does "BLM" stand for?

$350k seems like a pretty low price for the supposed best coffee shop in Seattle 3 years running.

That was just earnest money, like if you want to buy a house you give $1000 earnest money.

I think she also wanted to save his life, at least somewhat. But I don't really remember that scene, I'm not the most attentive watcher these days. The show kinda disappointed me in s2, so I no longer discuss it, too. Although I did like that last episode, finally some movement to the main plot. But I'm really irked how little development to the main plot and characters happens. I mean, when a CBS procedural (like PoI or Limitless) does it better, you really have to start thinking about your writing, Rob Thomas.

And for God's sake, start utilizing Ravi better. No backstory, no development, I'm shocked.

That was magical. iZombie, you magically fully redeemed Drake! This of course means he will die soon. But until that episode I can have my fun.

I knew Blaine wouldn't be leaving so easily but I didn't catch the wine thing.

Yes! to the Gilda/Rita reveal. Finally. Though I haven't quite processed Liv's reaction yet. I don't think I approve...

Gary Darryberry reminded me of the scene in Threesome when Josh Charles and Stephen Baldwin were drunk and laughing about Lara Flynn Boyle's date: "Be wary of very scary Larry!"

Well, he was hairy.

Did anyone else think that Major calling her Rita was on purpose, a way to warn Liv while maintaining plausible deniability?

I sure did!

Gilda/Rita deserves more than a punch in the face
