I don’t know why the fact that MJ being a rerun today is making me ridiculously angry. No one was available to host? Rerunning a “news” show on an alleged “news” network is inexcusable. I went to CNN to catch up on what happened, news-wise, overnight in this country, in the world.

To be honest, I think the reason it makes me crazy is because it would seem (to me) that Joe could hold sway on the network programming.

The clips were probably painful enough live, wonder who the audience is for "best" of.

MSNBC seems to give up on News around holidays. If no one wanted to host or produce MJ today, why not stick the generic "MSNBC Reports With..." newsblock there?

I thought it odd during Thanksgiving (and the day after) and Christmas Eve; NYE morning is just ludicrous. And they've used every rerun to open with a long piece on Trump.

Further reason for me to eye-roll when Joe starts the new year telling all us viewers we're lazy and don't want to work.

I'm telling you...Joe does not want someone hosting in his place.  He is thin-skinned and has an ego the size of Meeka's scarf and draped sweater bill.  He is afraid a true guest host (not any of the "Joe You Are So Right" regulars) would get decent ratings.

Happy New Year !

Mika & Joe are in Florida. Mika wore a dark v shaped top.

The top story is Mayor Eric Adams calling 911 on his first day on the job to report an assault in progress.

Joe told a funny story about Mika falling asleep on NYE while watching Bohemian Rapshody .

It is a movie about the band Queen. Mika had never heard of them.

Joe called Mika Sweetie.

Joe said Mika lived in an isolated farmhouse in the 1970S & 1980s and didn't listen to Rock music.

Joe likes to listen to music.

Lemire said Joe was a Beatles fan & a former Congressman.

Joe was happy that Alabama won a football game.

Rev Al Sharpton was in a virtual church service. He prayed.

Al Sharpton attended an Emancipation rally & a Kwanzaa party.

Joe said Emancipation day was an important day for African Americans.

Elizabeth cancelled parties & said some of her friends had a cold & coronavirus.

Mika said Omicron is still happening. There are over 400k cases per day.

Back to CNBC.

Oh, Oakville. You deserve an extra glass of your favorite vintage for watching and trying to recap.

I am guessing that maybe The Twins have signed enhanced contracts - judging by the free and easy, ego-driven dreck that seems to be passing as an opinion-driven news show. I miss what this show used to be.

Ha ! I think I may have to drink a bottle of wine before trying to recap the entire show.

It's almost impossible to watch the entire show now without getting frustrated at Mika's inability to read the TelePrompter or Joe repeating one of his 20-25 tired talking points or contradicting himself on what he said during prior years.

It's very telling that Mika & Joe were in a good mood early this morning, so you are probably right that they signed a contract extension. I doubt they got $30M Joe wanted given the ratings decline.

I do think its interesting that Mika doesn't freak out over reading Coronavirus case counts  or deaths now compared to how she was behaving in 2020. I remember when she was reading obituaries for a few weeks in the spring of 2020.

Joe said when his son Jack got Covid, they wouldn't let him back in school until he tested negative. Joe got mad at the Principal & got a letter from his family doctor stating that Jack would probably test positive for 30 days, so it was unfair to Jack.

Joe said it a waste of time to wait in line to get tested since people should stay home if they are sick.

As a resident of DC I feel the need to defend our city. Joe needs to stop talking about DC and the mess on the highway. That is Virginia's problem since that highway is in Virginia. I was here during the Marion Barry administration, and, yes, that did happen during a major snow storm. However, since Mayor Williams, DC has gotten much better handling the snow in DC. Williams made a ton of improvements which continue to this day under the succeeding administrations. Joe knows not of what he speaks.

Joe will never get past his rants of DC being unable to cope with anything; it was one of his main talking points Back When He Was In Congress. It sounds good to anyone who doesn’t live in the DC metro area - which includes Maryland and Virginia.

Tuesday recap with non alcoholic beer.

The top story was the weather & traffic problems in DC.

Joe said DC is a Southern city because they can't handle 2 inches of snow.

Mika said some areas got 7 inches of snow.

President Biden couldn't get off Air Force 1.

The roads are a mess.

Mika was shocked that there was gridlock in DC.

Josh Lederman was stuck in his car on I95.

Do they have travel advisories in DC during bad weather ?

In Ontario, we get alerts when to stay off the road during snowstorms.

Mika has family in the DC area that don't have power.

Josh said they are not providing food or snacks to the stranded.

Joe is upset that some people won't be able to get to work.

Mika said flights are being cancelled due to Omicron & bad weather.

Joe said Omicron isn't as extreme as Delta but pilots are calling in sick.

Willie said a global record for Covid 19 was set yesterday 1.044,970. Mika groaned.

Joe said several cable tv pundits are stuck in bad weather & have Omicron.

Joe said Trump exaggerates his tv ratings & the valuation of his properties. He does it to get loans or lower property taxes.

I am intrigued by the new Morning Joe format of discussing weather & traffic in the first block. The show is trying to replicate local morning tv shows. Mika may also start commenting on cute pets.

Because yes. The cult of punditry is what I immediately think of when I hear about a massive traffic/snowstorm/pandemic shutdown. Have The Twins and their Greek Chorus always been this self-involved, shallow and lazy? And we didn’t care because it was so satisfying to snark on them?

I do remember Joe throwing a tantrum one day during the glory days when he complained about batteries on his iphone not working properly. Joe threw the phone off his desk & demanded that Steve Jobs build longer lasting batteries.

Joe also used to complain bout Laguardia airport & poor Amtrack train services.

The biggest changes I have noticed lately is that they stayed on live at the 8 am - 8 : 30 block.

They didn't repeat Mika's review of Bohemian Rhapsody & her lack of knowledge of Rock music at 8 am.

Mika has toned down her cry reading about the Coronavirus despite their being more deaths and infections now.

Joe is doing his best to defend President Biden & hopes that the trials over the January 6th attacks on the Capitol.

I do notice that Joe's head seems to shake without reason. It may be a medical issue.

It's a good time of year to be broadcasting from Jupiter Florida.

So Josh Lederman has the great misfortune to be one of the many stuck on I-95 overnight in freezing temperatures and MJ has him on the show to ask HIM what's going on? I mean, I really did appreciate the perspective but maybe - since you're insulated and have access to the powers that be and are, you know - a news show - you could find someone from the governors office or DOT or ANYONE besides the poor guy & his dog who dont have any answers bc THEY HAVENT MOVED FOR 12 HOURS.

Oy. I'm going to go carbo-load with wine.

Good morning and wth. Testing positive after 30 days is extremely rare. Teachers may have received their vaccinations but we keep getting new variants. And if it's the school's job to feed children and shelter them from the violence in their home do you think maybe teachers are freaking exhausted by now - between lack of funding, a pandemic and having to fill the role of educator/social worker/healthcare professional?

I'm ok with this stuff being debated, but not with the guy who can't even put on a suit jacket when he he actually does manage to show up for work from the privacy of his multi-million dollar home.

Dilemma today. The Washington Football Team discussion. There was a lot of inside-the-beltway talk about their golden days when attending games at the old RFK stadium. But the trashing of the owner, Dan Snyder, was a thing of beauty… and so very true. The best was Eugene Robinson comparing Snyder and the team to a fish rotting from the head down. You won’t hear this on CNN, CNBC, etc.  This is why I can’t completely quit this show.

Mika & Joe are very selfish individuals. If you review prior comments on this forum since the pandemic began, you will see how self centered they are.

At first,Mika & Joe freaked out over the lack of tests & Mika demanded that Covid patients be kept away from her when she took Bamba to the hospital.

Joe demanded the beaches in Florida be closed because his son Jack is diabetic & has a weaker immune system.

Mika complained about heavy traffic in Jupiter in 2020 due to an influx of people from the Northeast that were escaping the virus. Mika was late for her spa appointment.

One year later, Joe blasted the city of Boston for not allowing more fans at Fenway because he & Jack didn't like going to a game with only a few thousand fans. The ambience was lower & it made Jack sad.

Joe has been bashing teachers union for not showing up to teach in person.

Meanwhile, Mika & Joe refused to show up & broadcast from the NY & Washington studios except on a handful of occasions.

Mika & Joe are the Marie Antoinette & King Louis 16th of cable news hosts.

I saw the MJ piece on Mediaite this morning. Did Mika actually wear that horrid gray robe AGAIN today? And he was in his fleece? Obvious to me that they don't give a damn. So disrespectful to their guests and viewers. I tuned in to the top of the show yesterday with the endless interview from the guy in the car. Unfortunate event for all involved but not what I would find worth tuning in for if I was a regular viewer. The show has lost its purpose IMO. I assume that the producers are handcuffed by Joe's whims...granted, it is his show...but the show has lost all semblance of a news/punditry outlet and turned into a just a guy and his meek wife yelling from the basement kitchen table. NBC should be ashamed. I learn so much from the adult professionals at CNBC every morning.

I'm from the area where all their live shots were coming from: Stafford and Fredericksburg.  They didn't have 2 inches of snow, Joe you fuckface.  My mom lost power for over a day.
Did Joe mention the Republican governor pledging to get government out of our lives and pledging to protect Suburban Karen's precious KaiehgLeigh and Konnar from CRT... but can't salt or sand the roads ahead of a winter storm?  You put a social justice warrior in office who pledges to deconstruct government, and you may have 30 hour traffic jams.

I am amused when reporters from CNBC show up on Morning Joe. Poor Brian Sullivan who hosts a 5 am show on CNBC, & used to be the host of Way too Early tried to explain economics to Joe earlier this week. Sully is a professional & didn't push back against Joe's childish talking points.

I do remember when the show had a 15 minute segment everyday with CNBC around 8 or 8 30 am. Andrew Ross Sorkin, Erin Burnett & the late Mark Haines would provide business & economic news.  Mika & Joe used to listen attentively.

Lately, Joe brings on Steve " I manage Mike Bloomberg's money" Rattner who provides economic analysis.

Mini recap with non alcoholic craft beer that doesn't taste great.

It is the first anniversary of the attack on the Capitol.

The show opened up with Trump' speech last Jan 6th. he told people to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue.

Mika is wearing a dark green sweater. Joe is wearing a suit. Lemire, Cooper & David Drucker are special guests.

Why aren't they in Washington ?

Joe called Trump a trust fund baby that inherited $400M. He called Trump a liar.

Joe said the protesters thought they were listening to Trump.

Joe has a column in the Washington Post !

Meeka interviewing Dr. Sanjay Gupta. He is a wonderful interviewee - talks about his book but isn’t a constant stream of “as I said in my book” …. and toward the end, she introduced Dr. Vin Gupta. As the “angriest pulmonologist” in something; sorry, I forget what. He did not crack a smile; looked a bit startled (my opinion - angry). But overall, it was a good interview. When going to commercial Meeka promised a good bit of the Women over Fifty schtick. I’m out.

My question. Is Women Over Fifty joined with the KYV schtick/grift? Every time I hear either one, I lose more respect for this network. To prop the wife of your main host is terrible Business. Any true KYV woman would be embarrassed.

I cannot believe anyone, even with an ego the size of Joe’s, would be so unaware of their own cushy job and lifestyle. Joe sounds like the male equivalent of Marie Antoinette. When did he say this? I guess what we have long suspected is true - Joe can say just about anything and get away with it…never a repercussion. He is golden at the network.

January 5th. The video clip is attached to the tweet. It's absolutely hilarious to see Joe go these rants. I have a feeling that within a year or two he will "cross the line" & be suspended or fired. This happened to Chris Matthews in February 2020 when he told viewers that if Bernie Sanders was elected President, he would be hung from a tree in Central Park . That remark along with accusations from a female guest on his show that he was lewd with her convinced the network to force him to retire.

Joe should realize that all cable news hosts have a "morals clause" in their contract that allows them to be fired if they say or do anything that gets them in trouble.

I have a bottle of champagne & a bag of Cheetos ready to celebrate when Joe is fired :)

I go to work and do the best I can. I am grateful for our administration who cover lunches with 400 kids and no masks. Going to work is the most dangerous thing I do. I have not been to a restaurant in 2 years. We have cancelled yearly family holiday trips to be safe. I don’t know what the school answer is. No one knows, especially joe the “@&$@@&’ ignorant, lazy, spoiled, entitled piece of crap. I’d like to see him go to Chicago and be in classrooms for a week. See what these teachers have to deal with. mmkay well first of all, Jacourt, on behalf of literally everyone, thank you for your service. 🥰

For some reason people don't say that to teachers enough?! Like they're some kind of invisible expendable background humans doing some vague shit rather than being actual frontline workers responsible for the well-being of lil kids and risking their lives and health and free time to make things work despite the shitty circumstances

Mehdi Hassan literally did a response to Joe's argument on Peacock:

For me, I didn't like Joe yelling about this, without knowing all the details. And tbh I think I agree with Mehdi more? Especially after hearing Jacourt and some teacher friends etc

But also I don't really like that Mehdi is yelling either? seriously, what's with these dudes and their need to constantly look at the camera and YELL stuff? why is everything so exhausting and aggressive all the time? literally no one learns anything from this......i just wish we could watch actual conversations again, rather than us having to constantly modulate and interpret and synthesize various draining yelling segments into something resembling a calm argument, that whole process is ridiculous...conversation is what actually matters....

I'm curious about Mika's Abu Dhabi thingy whether it's independent or if it's affiliated with the Emirati government somehow, bc that would make a huge difference in terms of the character of the thing and Mika's decision as a journalist to affiliate herself with it, especially given the issues with Press Freedom etc in the Emirates, which is pretty abysmal. https://rsf.org/en/united-arab-emirates

like if the conference was state-sponsored,  just in terms of optics, how would it work with  a high-profile journalist leading a thingy on an international human rights day given the oppression of journalists there etc. Idk hopefully the fact that they decided to have it there means they've thought about it and found a way to address it and use their power to actually apply some pressure on the Emiraty gov to effectuate some positive change ( i hope??).

IDK, I wanna be fair, and it does seem to me it's basically a private Forbes business event hosted there for practical reasons and not one of those touchy-feely symbolic "human rights" events sponsored by the government to deflect attention from their actual terrible human rights record. And obviously Mika with her background would know to avoid that. But when i first heard i was like, yikes. i kinda just really really hope they've thought it through.

I am puzzled why Mika thinks its a good idea to hold a KYV seminar in the UAE. Women`s rights are better in the UAE than Saudi Arabia or Iran, but it`s not the same as being in Europe or North America.

Mika`s commercial for KNV was the most animated I have seen her in a longtime. She made no errors& enunciated with confidence.
