That story about DJT's comments about vets is shocking, but Joy Reid, John Heilemann etc are right- enough with these cutesy half-measures and anonymously sourced articles. John Kelly, James Mattis, etc (or even people like Kellyanne Conway) need to man the fuck up, look into a camera and say, "I heard Donald Trump say X".

It's the only thing that will make any sort of difference when so many don't believe anything that's written in the press. Either spend the rest of your life tossing and turning in bed, or man the fuck up, LOOK INTO A FUCKING CAMERA and TELL people what you heard and what you saw - and spend the rest of your life being applauded whenever you walk into a restaurant. It'll also instantly cancel out anything else you've ever done in your life that's morally ambiguous, so there's that. Joy and Heilemann are right - now really is the time.

Mika talked about a 2017 visit to Arlington Cemetery.  Trump allegedly asked what was in it for the dead soldiers.  Mika's solemn reading is great. I feel like I'm watching a play.

I'm thinking Hamlet.  She can hold a replica of Joe's skull whilst reciting...

I was getting mad this AM when Mika was talking about the 4 people who supposedly heard Trump say these TERRIBLE things about the servicemen.  Not getting mad at Trump, whom I can def. see saying that, but getting mad at news services that report these supposedly said Trump statements.  It just makes the Trump opposition look worse and their job harder, and as someone said above, if no one puts their name to the comment no even one Trump voter will change their mind. (actually they won't change their mind anyway, I think, it's too far gone)

Katty Kay looks great today. Joe let her speak at 6 27 am.

Oh man, the hardest working, smartest woman in Trans-Atlantic television really shouldn't have to get up in the morning 27 minutes too early for no reason.

She could have slept in! Eaten a croissant! Read the paper! I don't understand why a show with 3 hosts needs 12 guests at the same time?? It makes it all seem like class, with the teacher calling on each student to boringly recite their homework. Inexplicably with first name and last name! Even though they've just been introduced AND we've known them all for 10 years!

The real conversations between fewer people are SO much better. Literally the best segments today were between Mika and Dr Bhadelia and Laurie Garrett. And then Katty and Mika and Joy.

I normally cringe at Joe's sermons, but I actually thought this address to vets (and public servants) was good. It was BRIEF, it wasn't pompous, and it was about THEM, and not about him. And someone needed to say it. I can't imagine what it's like to be a smart, committed civil servant (or military officer) in a job that's basically thankless right now.

I agree that Mika & Joe should do a better job of scheduling guests. There are too many people on at once. Joe should reduce his daily rants to allow more time for the guests to speak.

This is also funny because it's like for a split-second Joe became a viewer of his own show and realized what it is WE have to look at while people on his show are talking. Yeah, Joe, for the past two years,  whenever someone has said something interesting on your show, we haven't been allowed to look at their pleasant faces while talking, we've had to look at a dull-ass slideshow of Donald Trump, including some stills that were, quite frankly, vaguely diabolical. No one asked for these, and yet they all seem to think we wanna gawk at them while having breakfast. Go figure

Donny flirted with the women on Mika's women in politics panel on the movie Surge.  He said he wrote a chapter in his book about successful women in politics. He said that women will save the country. Mika said Donny was right. Donny was wearing a blue t shirt that was 2 sizes too small for his body.

Tom Brokaw gave a presentation from his ranch in Montana. He said that during Presidential elections, the "Unforseen event will occur ".

He said that Democrats will have to stay united.

NBC is doing a good job of limiting Brokaw's appearances on the network to pre taped segments.  It's risky to let him speak on live tv.

Mika was the sole anchor during the last 30 minutes of the show. Katty Kay stayed as a guest.

Mika complained about the jobs report. Only 1.4 million jobs were created in August. There are still millions more unemployed people now than before the pandemic started.

Mika said she couldn't find a dry cleaner when she visited her daughters last week. She said many businesses were closed . It would make sense that small businesses in college towns would be closed if there are no student on campus.

Mika neglected to mention that she has been a strong supporter of the states that implemented total lock downs on businesses.

The show ended with a very sad story on millions of Americans that don't have enough food to eat.

I don't know what he's really like, but Donny dresses like the kind of guy who would constantly hit on his daughter's friends.

Nah. I like him. He's brazen and fun and tongue-in-cheek, and makes jokes about himself. Out in the open. The dudes who hit on their daughters' friends are secretive, creepy, faux-earnest "nice guys" who wear curdoroy. Trust me on this.

Here is a review of Donny's sitcom. Mika & Joe were guest stars on Donny's show.

To me (at least) I like Donnie on MJ because he isn't on all the time; at least nowadays.  I would think he is the kind of guy who would like Arm Candy - women who have the looks and style to impress people and fit his image.  But he seems to have a great sense of humor and doesn't mind poking fun at himself.  The Anti-Joe.

  • Love 3

Donnie also has a lot of women in very senior executive positions in his company (if he still owns it, I really don't know).     I like him, he has a sense of humor.   I still remember years ago when he ticked off Mika, and then gave her some of the Laboutins (spelling?) to apologize.   Bet that went over well with Joe.

It's sad to see Joe reverting to a more casual look. He looked more professional when he was wearing a suit.

He seems to be doing the sweater look every day now.  My guess is that he has gained weight, and the sweaters are more comfortable.  He seems to favor yellow button down shirts.  He is not dyeing his hair either.  This is Curmudgeon Joe.

Mika is doing the Elizabeth Warren look today, with a black t-shirt and bright cardigan.

Joe is wearing the same dark blue sweater today.

Joe is getting a crime update about NYC from Willie. Some of Joe's friends said that crime is up & they don't feel safe.

Joe hasn't visited NY since February.

Willie same there are more shootings now, but  he wasn't shot so everything is ok. There are some areas that are safer than others.

Willie said the city is quieter than normal.

Joe is worried about defunding the police.

I noticed Joe couldn't stfu so Mika could open the show, and just didn't feel up to it this morning.

After he demanded Cuomo apologize to Trump last week , his hypocrisy is just beyond belief.  I have better things to do in the morning than listen to his bullshit.

  • Love 3
55 minutes ago, xaxat said:

What on earth did he think Cuomo should apologize for?

Cuomo said earlier in the day that Trump should maybe not come back to NYC, considering how people there feel about him, and Trump's threat to cut off federal funding to the City.

Apparently our Joe took that as a threat to Trump, as he still has unresolved issues re his and Mika being told to hit the bricks after the election.

Twitter was not having it. Bradley Whitford really laid into him.  I guess he thought better of it, usually he starts one of his "basement dwelling Cheetoh eating dumbasses" rants when anyone dares to disagree with him, I figured he'd address it.

Maybe that's what the "NYC is Fort Apache The Bronx" nonsense was about. Joe's way of sticking it to Cuomo.

Except that movie was made in 1981  when NYC really was in bad shape. It's almost 40 years ago.

OMG it's like Age of Innocence in NYC!!! When the streets were still muddy and Manhattan didn't even have that many buildings!

Today Joe and Mika are excited about the polls.

A new NBC News poll has Joe Biden up by 9 points in Pennsylvania.  This is a poll of 771 registered voters that was conducted by Marist/NBC.

Joe said that people are worried that the polls are like 2016.  However, Joe thinks it is different from 2016 because there are not many persuadable or undecided people left.

Lemire said that there are not enough voters in the rural parts of Pennsylvania to help Trump because Biden has the suburbs. Jonathan thinks the rural areas in PA form a "T."  As a former resident of the Keystone State, I disagree.  There is a huge rural territory in the middle of PA.  It is one of the top dairy producing states.  *The more you know*  🌈

Joe says that Biden and Trump are tied in Texas.

Mika said that half a million children have had Covid-19.  She wants you to know that your toddler or teenager could kill you with Covid.

Victoria Defrancesco Soto said that Biden should work harder to attract Latino voters. There are more Puerto Rican voters in Florida due to immigration from the island.

I am beyond baffled why Puerto Ricans would support Trump. What ads could they be running in Florida that negates how much he screwed Puerto Rico, in how much contempt he appears to hold them, the fact that he doesn't even know or care that they're Americans.

I'm also *almost* at a loss as to why any ethnic Mexicans and Central Americans who are now Americans would support Trump since he has treated immigrants like garbage, has ripped their children out of their arms and has called them rapists. I say almost, because I'm aware that once people get to the U.S., start making their lives here, and become citizens, they seem to lose sympathies for immigrants as much as other Americans might whom Trump appeals to. But, it's a sad state of affairs.

Joe I'm worried that you have your head so far up your ass you can't tell if it's day or night.

No, believe it or not, we don't think that. We know that there are a lot of different groups that fall under the "Latino" category and that some of them, esp Cubans, are very conservative.

Joe considers himself to be an expert on the voting patterns of Hispanic voters in Florida.

Joe said he represented Latino voters when he was in Congress.

Joe reminded viewers that there are several countries in Latin America where Spanish is spoken.

Mika's brother showed up to discuss politics in Belarus. He said that the opposition movement is similar to the one in Poland in 1980.

So happy to see the return of Willie. Welcome back baby. He looks so good!!

Wasn't that dude introduced as the former ambassador to Sweden Mika's brother? Weird not to acknowledge that. They used to be so friendly to guests, I don't understand why they now all get the same robotic "thank you so much for being on the show today". Like that exact phrase, always, delivered with very little enthusiasm. The contributors on this show are literally the best out there, worth their weight in gold, they deserve a warm welcome at least, that's important even in dark times, so to speak, maybe even especially so... that was otherwise a really great discussion though, I'm glad they're talking about what's happening in Belarus.

Joe monopolized the discussion with Mika's brother. Joe reminded Mika's brother that his dad was the NSC during the Carter administration & helped finance the Solidarity movement in Poland. I thought that was funny because Mark knows what his father did.

I guess Mika didn't feel comfortable interviewing her brother today .

In the past, Mika complained about her parents favoring her two brothers over her when they were growing up together.

Xaxat....I am sure I would love this ... but I can't get it.  I don't have Twitter, so that is probably why.  But just from the Emoji (is that what those are?) faces, I am sure it was funny.  So I will fill in my own thoughts and laugh.  Thanks for posting this...it has made me make my day.  When I call Emoji's "the little pics" it drives my adult children crazy; maybe that is why I do it.  Bless my heart.

Xaxat...I got it!  I think this is one of the best belly-laughs I have had in ages.  Perfect for the times we are living in.

Maybe The Twins will show this clip first thing in the morning - can you do that? Get everyone's day started with a laugh instead of polls and ranting.

Tonight's bedroom talk between The Twins:  The Woodward book! We don't have to prep for tomorrow!  Our schtick is set.  (like they ever really do prep)

And whoever was admiring Peter Strock (spelling?)...he will be on Rachel tomorrow evening.  I loved it when he testified before either the House or Senate.  He was cool as a cucumber, knew his facts, and ... shallow end of the pool ... very attractive.  As Erma Bombeck used to say "I have cookie sheets older than him" ....

My guess? They will start the show with the "It will go away in a couple of months" Trump montage. Followed by Mika saying, "but it didn't go away" and reading an excerpt of the Bob Woodward book. And then Joe starts yelling "He knew! And there are tapes!" for twenty minutes. And then, despite having been introduced 28 minutes ago, Lemire will be allowed to talk "Yes, that's right Joe, he knew."

The predictability of this show is one reason I rarely watch it now. The only reason I still post hear is because all of the posts here are great entertainment.

Can someone give Mika a vacation from her breathless reading.  If I wanted someone to read the Woodward book to me , I'd buy the audio book.  It brings out her most melodramatic personality traits.

Joe is on Twitter with a statement that the Bob Woodward book will be remembered for years to come.  Woodward has written numerous White House insider books since Watergate.  It is his thing now.  I guess what I'm saying is that I have bombshell fatigue from Joe and drama fatigue from Mika.
