Donny said that Beto will get more coverage because he is a celebrity. His charisma will help him gain votes. Donny said he is popular because he is not  socialist like Bernie. Donnie likes Biden , Kamala & Beto.

Yeah he wants a ticket of two of these.

But he wants Biden to run as a one term president. That's motivating.

I found the DeBlasio discussion about Amazon interesting; usually DeBlasio kind of puts me to sleep.  A little.  But he really really pushed back against Susan Del Percio and Donnie.  Donnie cannot stand AOC (sorry for abbreviating) and anything or anyone he perceives as Socialist.  He tried to bring it up as the reason for Amazon pulling out (not saying he was not correct; don't know enough to judge) but DeBlasio smoothly wasn't having it.  Then Del Percio tried to put her spin on things; again, DeBlasio wasn't having it.  He quietly brushed her off by asking if she wanted to have a serious discussion or not.  She didn't interrupt or interject again.  I actually listened to the entire discussion; Willie asked pointed questions and DeBlasio got the time to make his point.  That would never have happened if Joe or or Meeka was on set; especially Joe.  And Noah Rothman was there!  The smug just drips off of him.  And Willie is letting him close the show.  Goody.  Now Del Percio is criticizing the DeBlasio interview; it is easy to do that when the interviewee is not present.

Regardless of how one feels about the debacle of Amazon/New York - you could kind of sense a piling on about to happen today with Donnie, Rothman and Del Percio.  And I am not saying that DeBlasio should be immune for hard questioning.  I just think he handled it better than I thought he would.  The ultimate politician.

Sometimes I enjoy Donnie and other times I don't.  Now.  Donnie for mayor?

Noah "I'm A Worm" Rothman was particularly odious this morning.  So much so I was forced to change the channel from an otherwise great show.   It's been said again and again, but the whole production is so much better without Mika especially, and also without Joe.  Joe would be better as a special guest.  Mika would be better at everything and anything else.

Donnie's first priority should be to ditch that ridiculous suit.  All he needed was a fedora and a tommy gun and he could be the next Edward G. Robinson (you dirty rat).

I haven't watched much at all this week as I was preoccupied with Project Runway reruns on Bravo.  I do appreciate the recaps and snark, thank you my friends and have a great weekend . . . 🙂

That made me laugh. I think the full quote was “Nobody comes up to me on the street and tells me I would be a great Mayor. They tell me to get the hell out of the way”

My favorite thing about Willie is his self-depreciating sense of humor.

Oh even better!  I see he has the same problem that is constantly plaguing both Joe and our President.  I love the way they all hiss at each other and they are all exactly alike with their imaginary friends.  Oy.

i enjoyed the debate between Deblasio & the panelists. It's rare to see any debates on this show.

Deblasio said the Bezos affair could have been a contributing factor to the cancellation of the project.

Says the self professed friend of Trump who helped normalize him during the election.

It was quite impressive watching Rothman and Del Percio question De Blasio's commitment to capitalism while simultaneously advocating corporate welfare.  I also wonder if Del Percio didn't realize Hudson Yards was a Bloomberg project or if she was being knowingly  disingenuous.

Part of me thinks, the whole idea of having two east coast HQs was a bridge too far.

What got me was that guy from AEI, Arthur Brooks?  In his interview, he kept saying that Democrats are stoking hatred.  Really? Which Democrats are doing that? I'm not surprised Brooks is the president of AEI, with that coming out of his mouth and no naming names or giving examples. When I voiced that observation on twitter, someone responded that Brooks just wrote a book titled, Love Thy Enemy, so he needs to prove we are all haters.

The panel is upset at Tillis for voting with Trump.

Trump's greatest talent is perceiving weakness in individuals and exploiting it.   The weakness may be greed, xenophobia, racism, fear of losing one's job, etc.   Trump sees it the way psychics claim to see auras, and he milks it for all its worth.   Objectively speaking, it's quite a skill.

Clearly I need more coffee, because I read that as "Madame Trump" and thought Donnie was throwing shade about that Massage Parlor Madame that Trump and his sons and GOP leaders all have their pictures taken with at Mar a Lago.  Gave myself a good laugh when I realized it was Madman, lol.

Bezos wanted HQs in DC and NY because he owns homes in both metro areas. One of the requests Amazon made in the NY proposal was for a helipad, which almost certainly been for his personal use. There's a lot of speculation that it was never really a competition.

Perhaps, MSNBC should offer Mika & Joe a Helipad so that they could show up in studio more often.

While I'm happy that Jomika are critical of trump now, I can never forgive them for giving him such a platform during the campaign and joking around with their then BFF.

Joe looks awful this morning.  I can't put my finger on it, but he looks older and all washed out.

Joe is bashing hillary clinton for not having a campaign message.

OMG, I heard this on my way back from the gym and almost drove off the road.

She had a message. And it wasn't "I'm with her" or "It's my turn," as they maintained this morning. It was "Forward Together" and as campaign messages go it wasn't light-the-world-on-fire, but most campaign slogans aren't. Joe and Mika just never could be bothered to pay attention to what she was saying because they were too busy giving Trump his daily tongue baths.

Why is this even a topic of discussion?  Are they so lazy they just get up and say "fuck it let's just bash Hillary again today".

I think Mika & Joe don't really care what they say anymore on the show. They are very repetitive with their standard talking points.

I doubt they do as much prep work on guests or topics now that they are in Florida.

Joe admitted today that Trump told him before the election that he knew his “birther” claims about Obama were a lie. So, Joe not only supported Trump’s “birther” crusade - the one that brought him to political relevancy - by giving him airtime, he did so knowing he was lying.  What a hypocrite Joe is!

So Joe, who is on a news channel, and Mika, who claims to be a journalist, had news about Trump that could have impacted the campaign - and they said nothing. Remember that next time they claim they weren’t/aren’t Trump supporters, or when they wonder aloud why 2020 Dem hopefuls aren’t on their show. Would they have held onto this type of information about Hillary?

I just find this despicable.

Thanks for this Oakville (as always).  I'll admit, at first I was going to grab the remote when he first came on (he reminded me of someone who could be a character on HBO's Silicon Valley) but I am glad I stuck around.  The interview was not what I thought it was going to be and I am glad he's raised enough money to make the debate stage as I would like to hear more (please know I am not at all a fan of just giving money to people but since I have been dog paddling around in the job market swamp for so long I do understand that the market is changing and not necessarily for the better depending on who/where you are).

I'm not a Twitterer; do you have a link for the lazy?  Please, pretty please.

Y'all are hysterical.  You're making me watch MJ right now on the NBC app.  Opening a show--any show, with Joe, Mika, and Barnicle--should be a cause for justifiable homicide.  Going pinball from the McCain video to baseball and back to complaining about the McCain tweets.

Ok, maybe the app's not the best option.  It just cut from Joe in mid-rant to commercial, and skipped about 20 minutes when it came back.

I truly do not understand why he "doesn't want to talk about BC" and then consistently brings up that "Bill Clinton causing middle school kids in the late 1990s to talk about oral sex" blab on a predictably regular basis (and please note, I still don't understand the whole thing myself).

Well, if he doesn't want to talk about Clinton, he can always tell us tales about how the Republican Speaker of the House during his time in Congress debased the office by cheating on his wife while impeaching the president and that time he served his wife with divorce papers a couple of months after she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
