Guys, it's fine to comment on the article.  It's not fine to use the forum to speculate as to Mariska's motivations for coming forward.  Please lets also keep the conversations cordial.

FOUND THIS ARTICLE THIS MORNING:

Ugh, as if they haven’t shoved everything about St Olivia down our throats already, they are giving her even more angst and screentime to make over dramatic faces and play the savior. Blah. Her crap has dragged the show into the gutter, which is a shame because if they focused less on trying to make Benson look like a saint and making everything revolve around her, and more on the cases, and gave the others some more screen time, the show could be good.

I like the squad of detectives SVU has now, Fin/Bruno have great chemistry and are really enjoyable to watch, and I like Velasco as well. They could use another detective or two, not sure where Churlish went, and it’s bizarre the IAB Captain in making a lateral move to work with SVU, but I like this squad of detectives, and of course Carisi is good, I hope to see him in court more soon. But the non Benson cast doesn’t get much to do, while Benson is more annoying than ever.

Well this should be... bizarre!

Rockefeller Center will turn into an SVU-immersive experience

The area will temporarily be renamed "Olivia Benson Plaza."

Quote

The unofficial area renaming is part of a wider activation that will last two days, March 14 and March 15 from 10am to 6pm, and will include complimentary coffee and tea beverages at the Benson & Co. Coffee truck

Let me guess - the Iced-Tea will be really good, and the Peter Scone-ivino will look great, but you only get tiny servings because they insist that what you really want is more of the Captain Liv Flat White...

SVU has been renewed for season 26. The Mothership was renewed for season 24 as well. OC hasn’t been renewed yet, it’s still being discussed.

So as if Mariska’s ego wasn’t big enough, the NY MTA just entered a licensing deal with Wolf to sell an SVU metrocard.

Wow. I guess we know that whatever other failings the writing may have, trading positive portrayals for sponsorship isn't one of them. I mean this is only slightly less surprising than finding out one of the local colleges is rebranding as Hudson University for a week...

Hargitay is going to want a major cut of the card, and the card will be as reliable as the quality of each episode, which will be hit and miss most of the time.

I know a lot of people don’t like MH, but I thought this was sweet:

Quote

While filming one of the final episodes of season 25 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in New York City on April 10, Hargitay, 60, was approached by a little girl who believed her to be a real police officer based on the badge she wore as part of her character’s outfit.

A witness tells PEOPLE that the little girl had been separated from her mother in the Anne Loftus Playground in Fort Tryon Park and enlisted Hargitay for help. The actress obliged, halting production for 20 minutes to help the child locate her mother and to console them both.

Mariska was featured in Greek Vogue with an in-depth article and complete fashion spread. While the spread looks good, I don’t understand her appeal? She also is on the cover of Variety.

I just read the article. She does confirm Kelli’s departure was out of her hands:

But Wolf still has the final call. Which means that Hargitay couldn’t stop him from writing Kelli Giddish off the show at the end of Season 24, after she’d portrayed Det. Rollins for 12 years. “Kelli is my favorite actor to work with,” Hargitay says. “Kelli is my heart. It’s a sore subject. I have a lot of say on the show, but I didn’t have enough there.”

Hargitay says she fought to keep Giddish and is trying to get her back next season. “I don’t like not being listened to, especially when I’m right,” she says. “That relationship was one of the most powerful relationships in television because you saw these two badass women, so flawed and so there for each other.”

Interesting, I had a feeling that Mariska didn’t want Kelli Giddish to leave, Mariska seemed to push for more Benson/Rollins scenes - I always figured it was a cost cutting move by Dick Wolf and network executives. It will be interesting to see if she comes back to SVU, I doubt she will given how cheap the show is, I mean they won’t even bump Bruno up to opening credits even though he’s in almost every episode.

I thought we pretty much always knew Mariska didn't really like it, but she wasn't willing to do what was needed to keep her - take a pay cut or do some sort of deal with NBCUniversal where she produced her own docuseries about abuse or her work with Joyful Heart so she made the same salary, but Dick Wolf didn't have to wait for the reruns to recoup his costs like every other producer in network television. And seeing as how Mariska has shown no inclination to put her money where her mouth is and there really is much they can do to earn more money from the network run short of some sort of truly horrendous product placement ("I think we found our suspect Captain. Her driver for the CarshareEats delivery we found outside her apartment was fired from Door Dash becuase their background check found he was on the registry. Another Carshare Eats perv? That's why I stick with HelloFresh. The foods a lot healthier and it's safer too!") or making streaming illegal on Thursdays, I don't see that changing. And it was actually the right move creatively - as bad as the show is today it would be worse if we had Rollins instead of Bruno etc. I mean I don't want to even think about what the Maddie arc would have been like...

I have no idea how a crossover would work with OC on Peacock and SVU on NBC, given that not everyone has Peacock. The truth is, OC has run out of stories pretty much - I feel like OC was just created to bring Stabler back so he could inevitably hook up with St Olivia.
To be honest I don’t care at all about the whole Stabler/Benson will they/won’t they drama that’s been dragged out for years, I don’t like either character and I’m at the point where I don’t care whether they end up together or not, I usually dislike having romances between main characters on crime procedurals but I just do not care about Stabler or Benson anymore.
I won’t be watching OC, I’ve only watched it half the time anyway, and I’m honestly not sure if I’ll continue with SVU - some of the episodes this year were just painful to get through the St O worship was so heavy. I really only watch for Fin and Bruno, they really need to bump Bruno up to opening credits, makes no sense that’s he not in them given that he’s in as many episodes as everyone else and seems to be universally popular with the fans - from what I’ve seen online liking Bruno is one of the few things most SVU fans agree on. Fin is of course the anchor of the show and pretty much the only character who can connect with Benson as an equal now. I like Carisi as well of course but they don’t know how to use him at all most of the time - they rarely go into court, probably because it means less focus on St Olivia, and the legal stuff is frequently poorly written, and they seemed to slip back into the bad habit of writing Carisi as more cop than lawyer towards the end of the season. Velasco is fine but isn’t really used much it seems, and the revolving door of female investigators in the squad don’t make much of an impact for me, it’s nice to see a bigger squad again but it’s weird having an IAB captain and an FBI agent working there and sometimes the squad dynamics are screwy.
So I’m not sure if I’ll watch SVU when it returns or not.

SVU has started filming for season 26 this week. I see that both Bruno and Curry are back - I’m very glad Bruno is returning, he’s one of the only good things about modern day SVU and they should bump him up to opening credits. Still not sure if I’ll watch regularly this season as last season was painful at times with the St O worship, I guess I’ll tune in to start the season at least to see if it’s any good.

Bruno is now a series regular. Also, yet another new female detective: https://tvline.com/casting-news/law-and-order-svu-kevin-kane-series-regular-season-26-bruno-1235285335/

Yay! He certainly deserves it. I wonder how they are going to make the numbers work budget wise? Is there a writers room meeting right now trying to figure out how they are going to work in Fin's product placement scenes with Tide and CarShield?

Great news that Bruno is a regular - he’s the best thing about modern day SVU and he adds a real spark to his scenes that the show frequently lacks. Bruno is about the only thing almost all SVU viewers agree on it seems - he’s very well liked. Also curious about the new female detective, and I wonder what will happy with Curry now? And will Velasco stick around - he has some potential but they don’t know how to use him well. Anyway I’m glad that Rollins isn’t going to be a regular again - I know some of the more vocal portions of the fanbase want her back but I’ve never liked her.
SVU could be good again if Mariska’s ego wasn’t in the way, but Mariska’s demand to be front and center all of the time and to have Benson portrayed as a superhero/holy figure who can do no wrong has made the show a joke much of the time, and I don’t even think Mariska is aware of this.

I figured she would make appearances again this year. Oh well, I don’t really care - I was never a Rollins fan when she was a regular, and I don’t like her relationship with Carisi - not much romantic chemistry there, they were forced together IMO. I’m not even sure how much of SVU I’ll watch this year - the St O worship last season reached an all time nauseating high. I honestly think last season may have been SVU’s worst season ever - small sample size so it might not be fair but there were some truly awful episodes. It seems like the show is just a monument to Mariska’s giant ego. On the positive side my man Bruno is now a regular and he adds a lot to the show. I’m of the believe that SVU could still be good if someone could reign in MH’s ego.
