Wow. I can only wonder what kind of dirt Chuck has on Lee Daniels. Ugh, just keep Chuck away from Empire, Lee.

I really wonder how that's going to work out since the cast is largely comprised of people of color. Chuck hasn't particularly added any "flavor" to the Winters storylines, IMO. Guess he's just going to count on bringing a lot of natural and man-made disasters to the Star characters' lives since that's his forte.

I appreciate them getting a Bell writer if that's true, but she's one of the most boring to be completely honest. I loved her idea for Generations, but it was snoozeworthy in execution and her DAYS was pretty bad as well. Still, I'd be more willing to give her a chance than almost anyone else. I would've preferred Kay Alden, but I'll take this. It will be interesting to see what kind of writing team she surrounds herself with.

Well, there's nothing left for him to ruin on daytime, so naturally, in this Bizarro industry, he moves to prime time......

But at least he's gone!  Now if would only get EB a role on his new show.....

Pratt's agent didn't waste any time securing her client a new gig, after learning his Y&R contract wasn't being renewed. Looks like everyone's a winner. Pratt gets a hot primetime gig and, according to my setside moles, Y&R is thisclose to bringing back one of the most beloved writers in the genre's history — Sally Sussman Morina.

I like SSM. She was trained under Bill Bell. She knew this show inside and out. Now it has been well over a decade since she graced these walls but I welcome her with open arms. I know she was interested in the position before and Pratt beat her out because JFP wanted him.

Shall be interesting to see how the current stories get wrapped up and what shifts will occur to storylines clearly being set up.

Who will leaves (because they always occur) and who will find their way back to the show.

How old is Sussman-Morina now? I knew she wrote during the Bill Bell days, but I didn't realize it was in the early '90s - and maybe even a little earlier than that, and that would make her just around my age now. This said more out of curiosity than anything else. I like that a Bell-protégé, who knows what this show's essence is purportedly back. If true, it's what a lot of folks who love Y&R's glory days have been wishing for, but I don't feel the show should try to go back and repeat the past.

Goodbye Pratt.

Not sure what Lee Daniels is thinking to give Pratt a show about POC. It's going to be a train wreck.

I'm hopping for a writer who knows how to tell a cohesive full story with proper beats and sensible POVs. Someone who, at least, won't yank fans around constantly.

IMO, if there IS a chelsea and nick groping, i believe it will go over as well as sick did.

I agree but now Phyllis has done two brothers and Nick would be Chelsea's third brother so maybe the Sharon haters  will leave Sharon the hell alone for a while. One can dream.

She was there during the conception of the Abbotts apparently? That warms my heart.

Good for Pratt. He got better and looks like he quit ASAP.

My feeling is that he had very little power/control since JFP left. He was a dead man writing, as it were. lol.

That's why scripts were improved IMO. I genuinely do not believe Pratt is capable of writing good daytime soap.

You are correct. She was there with the creation of the Abbotts and she is also a huge reason KSJ is on the show. SSM was trained to take over the show with Kay Alden. He wanted those two as his heirs. Shit happened. Kay has retired. Bring on Sally! The idea of having someone from the Bell era who knows these characters so well as the head writer is just hard to pass up. Time for a reboot. Mal is a great producer. This is a major set in the right direction.

As happy as I am that that fuckwit Pratt is gone, I'm a little disappointed that I was cheated out of some good schadenfreude...he wasn't fired like JFP was and, worst of all, that motherfucker landed a job in primetime.  How?!!?  Who in their right mind would hire him?  Failing upward is one thing, but damn...

Well, he's gone, I guess that's what's important.  I, too, would like the last three or four years to be wiped from memory, but I'm ok with the slow unravelling that we are seeing now.  I've been patient this long...

You know I think this Mal Young/Sally Sussman Morina combo could really work. Someone who is fresh blood, primetime, outsider to the incestuous recycled (dying) world of US soaps (Young) along with someone who has a deep history with the Bells and Y&R (Sussman-Morina).

I'm optimistic.

So, I don't really understand this BTS stuff.  Can someone explain how it works?  I've commented how I've been noticing the changes lately.  Obviously, the show looks better aesthetically, but I've also noticed subtle changes in the acting, and the writing has been somewhat better recently, imo.  <ducking>  Now, has Pratt been gone for a while, but they haven't announced it until now?  Which would mean the other writers are just stuck with the outlines of the shit he laid out, and they're just trying to make the best of it until it's all played out?  Because some changes seemed abrupt, like Swiss Passkey Whatzhernuts and Hillary's dire health crisis being waved away.  I'm just curious if we can pinpoint what sprang from Pratt's demented mind and what belongs to the new regime? (i.e, can we distinguish how much of the Philly crap was Pratt's/JFP's intention vs. what the new  creative team might have planned?) Does my question even make sense?

When you tell somebody his contract is being burned after its expiration, you better believe they get it that they've been canned. He was just biding time and drawing a paycheck until he found another job because CBS would have had to pay the fucker until the contract was done whether he was there or not. Since he left immediately, I'm thinking they might have made a mutual decision to just demise it after his last official day. I don't believe the rumors about him having been fired simultaneously with JFP were incorrect though. I think he was told - and maybe JFP delivered the news - that he was gone at the end of the contract just as sure as she'd been canned herself.

Yay! Someone who knows history! WTF is fleek? I looked it up in the Urban Dictionary, but I couldn't make heads or tails of the definition.

Fleek. Dumbest word to ever surface used by stupid dumb fucks!

i find this to be the best description.

There's a lot of nuance to "on fleek" but basically it's an enviable state of perfection. Angelica was trying to say that the return of Kay Alden puts Y&R back to what it was when it was at its best.

(And "OG status" is a direct complimentary reference to Kay. I wouldn't be surprised if someone had to explain to her what it meant. It's a little like calling Thomas Jefferson an OG president. Maybe straining the metaphor a bit, IMO.)

I'm so happy to hear about Kay Alden's return. There was no possible better replacement for JFP and Prattycakes  than this. They should have done this 13 years ago, but better late than never.

It certainly is a public repudiation of the producer's and writer's room.

Was there ever any explanation/gossip about the actual JFP firing?  How long did she last anyway?  How much worse have the ratings gotten?  Was it because of the Jeanne Cooper hologram?  (Because it bloody well should have been.  I could endure her cigar store indian turned GCPD's finest, but that hologram was creepy.)
