Shades of Blue In The Media: From Periwinkle to Navy

Recommended Posts

I thought they'd want to wait until after ABC's Thursday shows come back to renew....see how big a hit the ratings take then.

I hope the show runners have a plan in place for a second season. I hate when shows get renewed when they don't have the storylines for it.

I don't know if they have a story-line now but Levinson said they'll start thinking about it once the first few episodes of the 1st season have aired and I don't think that they'll start shooting season 2 before August/September so they have time.

Will it be another 10-13 episode season?  I think that's just about right for the story arcs of this show.  Any more episodes would require cases of the week and other filler.

Most likely, due to JLo's hectic schedule the rest of the year. I agree that this show benefits from the shorter seasons.

what's L+7?

Live + 7. So the cumulative views from the live airing and anyone who watches the episode on demand within 7 days after it originally airs.

yes they said it will have 13 episodes again ( Jennifer said that NBC would like 17 or 22 episodes but she can't) and you're right it's better this way.

Season 3 will start March 5.

I can't wait.

J Lo was on the Wendy Williams show (sometime in 2016, but I just saw the clip), and she mentioned that Ray Liotta came to her Vegas show. He was so used to seeing her portray the serious, tormented Harlee that when he saw her be wild and sensual on stage, he was like, "Holy hell. Who IS that?"

I figured Anna Gunn's role would be a small, maybe three-episode thing but it looks like it'll be a big part of the season!

It's also nice to see that the feds have a larger goal beyond just busting a small crew from one Brooklyn precinct.

they may have to change the night again next season, the ratings aren't good at all on Sunday seem like they should have kept it Thursday, the new Blacklist hasn't done better there.

Also why isn't the show on Netflix like some of their other shows, is it because of their Hulu deal ? I think having the 1st season there could have really helped the rating for this season

Well I'm glad to hear they are filming season 3 because I am worried about this show being canceled. You never hear anything about it anywhere. If you mention it to people, they have never even heard of it. And this forum only gets very little posts each week. I really like this show (minus Cristina anyway) and hope it sticks around for a few years more.

Yeah the buzz around the show is pretty much inexistent now, it's too bad because season 2 is much better than the 1st so far

Season 2 will have a 2 hours finale  May 21st.

Sarah Jeffrey, who plays Cristina, has been cast in the new Charmed pilot.  So the good news is that if that show goes to series and this show gets a fourth season, we'll have a lot less of Cristina.

She's actually, in all likelihood, been removed from the show entirely. You can't sign onto a series regular role in a pilot of you're still a series regular on another show--neither show will allow you to double dip. When you're a series regular, they pretty much own you--they set the schedule and you're either on set or in violation of your contract. Even if she gets bumped down to recurring on ShadesCharmed would always take priority due to contractual obligation.

Actually, when I saw the casting news, I assumed the worst and that Shades would not be coming back for a fourth season.

The article talks about that.  She was released as a regular on Shades but is allowed to do four episodes should Shades go to a fourth season.

I don't think she's important enough to signal this show's future like J-Lo or possibly Ray Liotta leaving which is why she was likely granted a release.

I'm disappointed but not surprised. They'd shortened the episode order (13 down to 10), took forever to announce a release date (now they're dumping it in the summer), and the actress who plays Cristina got a series regular gig on another show. I don't think the ratings were ever good which is a shame because this show really felt like it had legs.

I don't mind as much when they respect the fans enough to announce ahead of time that it is the final season.  I have seen so many shows through the years that just stop with no warning and no regard for tying up the loose ends.

I agree, and I hope they knew before they finished filming so they don't end on a cliffhanger they expected to have time to resolve (but the fact that they only got a ten-episode order tells me that they did know and that things will be wrapped up when it ends).

I have been surprised with how much I have enjoyed this show.  I refused to watch The Shield back in the day because it was about a crooked cop.  I didn't want to see anything that disrespected the police, but I became interested when I heard what a good character Vic Mackey was.  We caught up with DVD's and watched every episode after that.  One of my all time favorite series.

I will definitely miss Ray Liotta and J-Lo and the crazy plots...

I completely agree. If you'd told me 3 years ago that Ray Liotta & J-Lo would have crazy on-screen chemistry, I wouldn't have believed you. I'd say that she has the most believable chemistry with him as she's had with any of her costars (I know it's non-romantic, but they do have chemistry on-screen). Definitely more than Ben Affleck in Gigli

The series ends on a cliffhanger?? Man...

JLo interview comments right after NBC announcement of cancellation were very positive about the ending. The Ray Liotta interview presented more as just rambling. IMO. The season 3 schedule includes 10 episodes which suggests a planned ending was in place.  During his interview, Liotta couldn't recall much about what actually happened in the last season which didn't made any sense.
