Paris Manga & Sci-Fi Show 24 - Manu Bennett, Colin Cunningham et David Nykl (30 09 2017) Published on Oct 4, 2017, by Tribulations Chimériques -- MB talked about how he got the role of Slade Wilson on Arrow (same story that he's told at previous cons about how he choked the guy into unconsciousness during his audition). -- For Stargate fans: CC said that he originally auditioned for the part of Daniel but didn't get it, and then the part of Major Davis came up and he worked ten times as hard to get it. -- MB talked about Peter Jackson and working on The Hobbit. -- (Question was in French) MB: "Well, the truth, the truth, my friend. Ready? Here we go, here we go - the truth is, DC created Slade Wilson. And then Marvel created Wade Wilson... But Deathstroke is the original." He also said that they should put the two characters together in one film, either as friends or as enemies. -- When asked if he ever competed with SA on the salmon ladder and if so, who won, MB said that "David slaughtered him" and then said that SA is "really super fit" and on "top of his game." MB also said that he has a shoulder tear (from working on Spartacus) and now is out of the salmon ladder. -- MB: "The new storyline on Arrow is, uh - you know, at the end of Season 5, you know, Slade was asked to help Oliver out to find his son, to help get his son back. Uh, so, in Season 6, uh, Slade asks Oliver if he'll ask him - if he'll help him to find his son. So what Season 6, the Deathstroke/Slade Wilson character is about, is that he has a son called Joe - Joe Wilson. And, uh - yeah, Joe's a bit of a naughty boy. And, uh - but it's a really well-written two episodes. It's going to be episodes 5 and 6 of Season 6. It's called 'Deathstroke Returns' and then episode 6 is called 'Promises Kept.' And it's a very interesting new take on Slade Wilson/Deathstroke, but the relationship with his son is something that's opening up a whole new can of worms and a whole bunch of new storylines. There's a mention of Slade Wilson's wife - or ex-wife - another son as well. So, I think they're opening up kind of new avenues in which to take the Slade Wilson/Deathstroke sort of storyline. Yeah." -- DN talked about the evolution of the Anatoly character on Arrow and how he was brought back on the show. He also said that the EPs keep things close to their chest and that it's a constant surprise what happens to his character. Per DN, Anatoly was originally a prisoner and friend of Oliver, but they are "becoming enemies." -- MB: "I never thought that they could repair the relationship between Oliver and Slade after Slade killed his mother. You know, usually when you kill somebody's mother, that kinda puts the end of that friendship. But somehow they managed in one episode at the end of the 5th season to dispel the whole idea that Slade was evil on the basis that the mirakuru wore off. And what's happening in Season 6 is furthering that kind of return to sort of an eye-to-eye level between Oliver and Slade. You know, the deflection now is about Slade's son, Joe." And I don't think I'm hurting anyone's feelings - if any of you were watching - it was just - it just kinda - it got weird... it was hard, but - yeah." -- About Amanda Tapping, DN: "She is a consummate professional and has this ability to put everybody that she works with at ease." (CC had told this story at his other panel about how he kept messing up and then AT was messing up, and he learned later that she never messes up but was doing it on purpose to make him feel better.) -- DN: "Arrow is, like every other show, filmed in Vancouver... And I'm not really Russian." When asked about what's going to happen in S6 of Arrow, DN: "All I can say is that Oliver and I are not friends any more. tv echo October 5, 2017 Share October 5, 2017 (edited) Based on the tweeted excerpts that I've read from the above book, I would disagree, however, on one point: I think that some of these essays give the fans too much influence on the show's shifting of Oliver's romantic pairing from Laurel to Felicity. Featherhat October 5, 2017 Share October 5, 2017 Lots of shows have very popular fan pairings that never get more than a tease or hint, producers/network are happily doing what they want to. Same in this scenario, they'd already made ERB recurring and were probably plotting out how to bring her into the team before the show even aired 103. If Lauriver and Tommy/Laurel/Oliver had worked out as originally planned they wouldn't have needed to drastically change direction and Olicity would most likely be a popular but non canon ship. They sped up the Oliver and Laurel hook up to the end of S1. Seriously, it comes very quickly, they were muddling along with a long plotline and boom! suddenly Laurel and Tommy are broken up, Lauriver have sex, Tommy dies, Lauriver decide never to get back together again. That normally takes at least 3 seasons for an "end game pairing" and it's over by the beginning of S2. It can't have been random fan pressure that kickstarted their date in S3 or if it was the fan pressure had been building since their first scene together which means it didn't come out of nowhere and certainly wasn't random. But as I said, it takes more than shippers to get a show to course correct so massively when they still want/have to hang on to the other actress who is a much bigger CW name and is really pushing for her BC/LI role. 17 Link to comment
