Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Seems she has posted about this same "revelation" many times. Not long ago she was weary to the bone or whatever and then remembered her jesus.

But this whining seems to be a lot of their choices have consequences. They decided her womb (🤮) would be open to as many children as possible, they chose "full time" printing ministry, but then had to add travel to grift for food, clothing, rv repairs and to pay the bills . Also Jill needs to travel for the attention she gets being "on stage"

Jill also mentioned recently that she has to "travel more frequently for my work". So are you a stay at home mom or a mom who travels for "work"?  Her work travels, as we all know are vacations she pays for.

Let me guess - most of the pictures that accompanied this rant were of HER 🤦‍♀️

I took a peek at the original post and yes, every slide was a pic of her (and one was of her and Dave kissing, ick). And almost all of them looked heavily filtered. Vanity, thy name is Jill.

Jill's sort of SIL Betsy Foster Catalin posted earlier today that Amy has been hospitalized for 8 days and isn't showing improvement. I wonder if Jill is still there. Nurie is coming for Christmas, so she'll have to leave soon, if she hasn't already.

Because for Jill, hosting Christmas is more important than her very sick sister.  Nurie should stay home and go to the Kellers.

I think Jill was told to not post about amy or Jill does not care. it's Jilla favorite time of the year: Xmas aka 90% of gifts are for Jill and everyone fawns even more over her.

Nurie is probably already at Jill's in the upstairs attic.

who's is pregnant and who's engaged? that's all Jill gonna post besides getting 900 gifts for herself!

I agree that Jill was told not to post about Amy. But Betsy is posting, so we're up to date on her condition.

Because apparently Betsy can be trusted to post without making it all about her and her heroic efforts in caring for her sister.   The rest of the family must be grateful they only have to deal with Jill in small doses.

As of 15 minutes ago, doctors are wanting to intubate Amy.  She truly does need our prayers.

I saw that post on the public "Praying for Amy Foster" FB page. Here's a quote:

Amy’s oxygen levels stayed high all night once she got to sleep! The X-ray this morning showed her left lung in worse condition this morning. She needs her congestion to loosten, thin , and cough it out. She gets scared to cough thinking the mucus will get stuck and block her airway. She is fighting feelings that it is unending or just getting worse. They are still wanting to intubate her and put her on a ventilator. Saying it’s better to do it now in a controlled environment instead of doing it because of an emergency happening.

It really does seem grim. I don't think that doctors would want to put a patient on a ventilator without good reason.

Poor Amy.  Thanks for bringing that over here so I could read it.  It doesn't sound good.  I do think Jill will post about it once she can write how much she is helping Amy or the family in some way.

In her last post, this is the part that got to me.  She wrote: "Even when I am in the midst of a good day, I start to think it is MY goodness that deserves praise, and that defeats me because I know it is my ugly pride rearing it's ugly head again. Then, I wonder what was the point of trying so hard that day ...."

First off, it still hasn't occurred to her that perhaps everything she does isn't out of "goodness" and she never even says that perhaps everything she does isn't good.  Second off: if she can't think that she is good for all she does then she doesn't want to do it.   Her poor children.

Betsy also doesn't seem to look at Amy's illness as a moneymaking opportunity for her.  Meanwhile, Jill and family commandeered the ICU waiting area in the aftermath of Amy's accident years ago and Jill proceeded to arrange a baby shower for herself (expecting #11 or 12 at the time) complete with a large jar in the waiting room begging for monetary donations for a new stroller for Jill.  Apparently because her sister, newly quadriplegic with 6 young children of her own, had no financial needs whatsoever.  For Jill to accept even a nickel for herself in that circumstance, knowing that her sister would need major renovations to her home, a van, a wheelchair, childcare and literally dozens of other things in the immediate future; is just disgusting.

After Jill kept posting daily with details about Amy's health and the response of various family members, including Amy's little children, to her status; Amy, or, more likely her husband, told Jill to back off, they wanted her to post NOTHING about Amy or their family without advance permission.  Jill, of course, let that little nugget slip out, probably in hopes that her 'fans' would come to her defense.

Then, JIll's mom had a disabling stroke and there was Jilly, dragging all her kids up and down the halls of a major university medical center in the midst of a pandemic; describing and even showing photos of her mother as she struggled with the aftereffects of her stroke.  She then set up a Go Fund Me, ostensibly for expenses for her parents since her father wasn't able to work while her mom was in a hospital far from home.  Jill claimed her father didn't have any idea how to set it up, he is not an internet expert like she is.  We can't know, but I expect that every nickel from that fundraiser went directly into Jill's bank account and her parents saw little, if any, of it.  Jill undoubtedly justified it as needing money for gas to drive from Wooster to Columbus to visit her mother and food and manicures and cheap hair extensions so she could look good for mama.

I expect that, this time, Amy and her husband reminded Jill of their boundaries and so she didn't hang around as there is no hope she can profit at this point.

Amy undoubtedly has weakened muscles in her chest affected by her quadriparesis and cannot inhale deeply enough to aerate her lungs or prevent them from filling with fluid.  As she keeps trying and becomes exhausted, it only gets worse.  At some point, her body may give out and she could stop breathing altogether which is what the doctors are trying to prevent.  If she is intubated, they will also be able to manually suction the mucus which is accumulating in her lungs which would help her immune system in fighting the infection as well as improve her ability to move air in and out of her lungs to oxygenate better.

I'm really surprised Jill hasn't shown up in West Virginia yet. She has no reason to go home except to celebrate Christmas. I think Nurie, Kaylee, and the older girls could handle Christmas for the younger children. Nathan, Jonathan, Sam, and Tim could arrange a decent meal for everyone too. Was Jill told not to come right away?

ETA: I didn't see the previous posts before posting. I guess it is possible Jill was told to stay home. Of course, Christmas is a gift-giving holiday, so my cynical self thinks Jill would hate to miss opening her gifts on Christmas Day.

I’m so sorry that Amy is going through this. I truly hope she can heal. And as far as Jill goes, she is just abysmal. While her sister is fighting for her life in the hospital, Jill is in NC having a wonderful time. If I were in her shoes I would be on the first plane to West Virginia.  DBD can drive the dirt buggy back to Ohio with the Rodlets.  What an utter sack of monkey dung.

I wonder what the dynamic between the sisters was when they were growing up.  I wonder if Jill was the boss and bully and not liked much as an adult.  I wonder if she has always been "better than everyone else".  That's hard to live with.  I know first hand--my mother thought she was superior to everyone else, including her family.  Amy's family is probably happy that Jill is not there to "take charge".

Nailed it! She didn’t suddenly become a raging narcissist the day she met Dave or the day she found Jesus.

Of course I would pray for a miracle but I would pray that said miracle could also be through the doctors and those giving her care.

God can send good doctors with the knowledge to save her.

She then set up a Go Fund Me, ostensibly for expenses for her parents since her father wasn't able to work while her mom was in a hospital far from home.  Jill claimed her father didn't have any idea how to set it up, he is not an internet expert like she is.

Oh it was more obvious than that.   She said "oh if you don't want to use Go Fund Me, you can send money directly to me."   Implying that the money would then be passed on to her parents but it was fairly obvious not a cent would be passed along.

I was literally applauding while reading this.  She cannot miss a single grifting moment, no matter how inappropriate.

Jill, the phrase is "There is a time and place for everything" not "Every thing is the right time and place!"

Just when I feel Jill's shittiness has plateaued, we're reminded of how there is no limit to how far low she will go.

I think praying that the doctors and other caregivers are able to do their best work for her is really the way to go.  God doesn't pick and choose miracles for people based on how often or how hard they ask for them.  Yeah, she might miraculously improve without intervention, but it is far more likely she will improve WITH medical intervention. Praying that her lung improves and the mucus is removed is great, but works better in conjunction with medical professionals doing a bronchoscopy to make it happen.
