I'm very excited for them!! I'm just happy that they seem actually happy and in love, as so many royal engagements are not based on those two critical elements. I wish them all the best. I must admit I am quite the anglo/royal-o-phile, so this is a very exciting spring for me. I only wish I was heading back to the UK next year as it is going to be so much fun.

I really like how he's honouring Diana, the announcement in a garden she loved and two of her diamonds in Meghan's engagement ring.

I also like that they met doing volunteer work for others.

I hope they'll be happy together. It's pretty big sacrifice she's making though. For all the perks she'll get from being in the Royal family no way are they going to let her keep her acting career or any form of career or independence she had.

I think she might be able to do some acting in the UK, but it's going to be very limited in what projects she is permitted to do The monarchy states that it wants to modernize. Prince William & Harry do seem to be trying to be modern and as normal as royalty can be. Prince William got to keep his day job during the early years of his marriage. Perhaps Meghan will as well, it probably will come down to when and if she wants to have children. Harry is pretty far down from the Crown, so I think that makes their life trajectory different than if he was closer in succession. I do think that they will be allowed to be more independent than Will & Kate.

I was talking with friends about the couple a few weeks back when the engagement rumours became more serious. And we were discussing how Kate having a 3rd child I think made it possible for Harry to become engaged to whomever he wanted. I thought they might wait until the baby is born, but I guess they didn't want to wait. I also believe that having to live through the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana's death and all the media coverage that it brought really made them see that love & happiness is more important than protocol. The Royals interference in her life seems to be something they have complicated emotions and thoughts about, perhaps that has paved an easier road for Harry & Meghan. Plus Prince Charles has also struggled all of his life to be with the woman he loved and have her accepted by his people, that I am sure his son's happiness is very important to him.

Based off of their joint interview, I think the acting is behind her and she is embracing the philanthropic aspect of her new life, something she seems to already have a passion for.

In a way, I think fans of Suits and her character lucked out (raises hand).  Her romantic interest in the show already had planned on leaving so her ALSO leaving is perfect timing and give the show a chance of giving them a happy ending.  I had thought the whole show was ending this season but I've since heard they are keeping it going so had he left and the show kept her character, I would have been sad about the eventual break up they'd concoct.  

I imagine her poise in front of cameras is something that will come in handy for her new life.  And if the worst happens and they break up, you can bet she'll be able to go back to work. (But they seem really sweet together so I'm rooting for them)

I watched their interview and she was heart eyeing Harry all over the place.

I can't believe how shippy I am about this! I really like Kate and William but these two are just so swoon worthy! 

She seems to have a huge passion for volunteer work based on what I've seen from her social media so I imagine besides being in love with Harry she is going to adapt to this life just fine. So much squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

Gift Ideas Please!

For my Aunt/Godmother's 80th birthday in February my cousin and, I are taking my Aunt and my mother to Cabo for a week. 

We want to let her know at Christmas with our gifts. My one cousin donated her place in Cabo, I will put that in a card.

I bought her airline ticket so that's going in my card and my cousin bought her mother a sun hat (plus paying for everything she does in Cabo).  I need help with another clue/gift.

1st she opens the hat

2nd she opens my gift. Help! I have no idea what to give her! I want something that she can use in the summer and hints at her vacation.

3rd she opens my card with her plane ticket (fake printout) to Cabo

4th she opens the card with the place we're staying in Cabo.

I was thinking maybe putting a gift bag together with sunscreen, lotion, lip balm stuff like that but, I don't know if that's good enough.   I was planning on getting her a sun hat but my cousin snagged that idea ?

Nope she doesn't travel at all. One of my friends suggested buying a beach bag and then filling it with sunscreen, lotion, aloe and buy her a paperback to read.

I think that's what I'll do.

I am months if not years behind on most of the threads here... and I'd rather not delve into them just for one post.

But I wanted to say kudos to all of us who predicted a Crossover staged around a Crossover wedding disaster. How smart we all are :)

Granted our predictions were a couple years ago when Olicity was hot, summer hiatus engagement rumors flew and the 100th episode was just ready and waiting for us. I personally think we could have written a better wedding whether it be big or the informal quickie we got. Personally, I'm happy they are married but eternally disappointed with how the show delivered us their wedding. We could have done better and we deserved better especially after the last crossover shenanigans.

As a daughter of an Italian, I believe that most would actually believe that it is worse than the economic crash! Soccer is like part of their lifeblood, it's probably up there with family & religion as most important to them. Money will come and go, but soccer you don't mess with that.

I'm grieving for their loss as well, I really don't have many teams in the hunt now. I guess I can go for Germany (my grandfather's team) and Australia (my adopted team from my study abroad days). But it's just not the same. I've been wearing the blue & white of Italy during the World Cup since before I could walk.

I am glad to see other Countries getting representation though, it really is the World's Sport.

Thanks! Interesting article. Definitely didn't realize there was multiple actresses in the lineage. I only ever really heard about Grace Kelly.

It isn't too hard to imagine that the outcome of the World War II might have been different if Edward VIII had remained on the throne. It definitely is an intriguing time in recent British History that is just ripe for a multitude of theories or what if outcomes.

I watched it a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't good but I didn't think it was that bad. Of course, I've always been a sucker for romantic comedies and I love Rose McIver so my opinion may be somewhat skewed.

It was definitely cheesy. I honestly don't know about the squee-worthy part. To me, it was mostly forgettable, I can only really remember a couple of plot points.

Kind of random but this reminded me of a movie I saw over the weekend that people need to watch.  It's called The Room (no, not the award-winning movie Room)   Literally every minute of it is spectacularly bad in the most quotable way. It's so bad that the guy behind it now has been trying to claim it was a parody but those involved affirm it wasn't.  It's actually available on YouTube in English (but with Spanish subtitles that don't get in the way) and there is a movie called the Disaster Artist being released soon which is the story of the making of it that actually is getting awards buzz. 

Here's the Honest Trailer and honestly, it's wackier than the trailer makes it out to be.

Speaking of cheesy movies, I watched Hollywood Dirt with Johann Urb, aka the Vigilante. It did not fill me with confidence when it comes to his acting abilities. This is no award winning feature, but still, he has a relatively clean cut scene at the start of the film catching his wife cheating on him. And... zilch. It's a Passionflix production and it's supposed to be made for the female gaze, which is fair enough, but the sex scenes (nicely shot, to be fair) kind of come out of nowhere, so I'm left confused and not really caring. But that could be a problem with the book it's made after for all I know. However, it's nowhere near as bad as their other original movie looks from the trailer. I think it's supposed to be hot, but frankly looks like it's about a stalker and his victim.

Very cheesy. Not a lot of squees, IMO. The leads just didn't have chemistry and the plot is quite ridiculous.

Have you seen the Christmas movie with Brandon Routh as a firefighter? That's actually pretty cute. In a Hallmark movies kind of way.

My fandom collided this weekend.  Beyond Arrow, I'm also a fairly rabid soccer fan, and scrolling through my instagram feed this weekend saw one of my players capture a photo at Greg Berlanti's wedding to Robbie Rogers.  I had to do a double take - these people aren't supposed to know each other.  LOL
