Today was an absolute snoozefest.

I'm also worried that people won't return after the Olympics.  We've already lost a few posters in our tiny community here and the ratings get worse every week.  It's frustrating.  There are characters I really care about on Days, and they are portrayed by terrific actors ... and yet the writers and EP are just driving away what little audience soaps have left with these idiotic stories.  It amazes me that this segment of the entertainment industry can be so incompetent, and that no one in a position of power seems to care.

Jenna was Felicia Gallant's adopted daughter (who had a sort of rivalry with Felicia's long-lost older daughter, Lorna Devon. (But I only know enough of AW thanks to SOD and waiting for the end of AW to watch Santa Barbara back in the day!)

Yes, now I remember. Funny how you only watched because you were waiting for Santa Barbara. I watched all NBC soaps including The Doctors, Another World, plus its spinoff (Texas?), and Generations (remember that one?), but never got into Santa Barbara.

I watched All My Children as a young one with my mom, but eventually it lost me and I started watching Days. So of the NBC soaps, it was that and SB. Never got into AW for some reason, but it was a masterpiece next to the later soaps NBC had. (Tried a bit of both Sunset Beach and Passions and...no.)

ETA: I remember Generations. It lasted only 2 years which is sad considering it had a lot of acting power from those who left other soaps to go there...

Totally forgot about Sunset Beach, but do recall Passions even though I didn't watch. Amazing how many soaps WERE on

NBC...and only one left :(

Now I just watch Days and Bold & Beautiful.

Yes, at the time I thought "Abe" (James Reynolds from Days) was WAY too young to play the patriarch of the family, even with the added grey :)

Sorry about the previous post, tried to copy in numerous comments, then couldn't type anything...

Anyway, Bianca should have gone back in the house and grabbed a hair elastic, the hair tossing was annoying (though needed for sexydance time, as a poster pointed out). When we came back out, she should have closed the door, it was bugging me (pun intended) that the back door was wide open on a summer night with lights on inside. That cute kitchen is going to be bug paradise for the next few days, gross.

Also, did John say he was drinking milk at Club TBD? I was hoping it was at least a White Russian or other cream-based alcoholic beverage.

Well, yesterday's show didn't get me back on the love train at all. I have zero interest in Summer or Hope at this point. I tried to conjure up some of the nice vibes I felt for Aiden a year ago and came up completely empty. I also ff'd through Rafe and Blanca -- such tired old soap tropes going on there. Blech.

I think I "watched" it in record time -- about 30 minutes. Here's hoping that today's is better. Or were soaps always this slow and plodding during the summer months?

I never watched Sunset Beach and Passions out of loyalty to Another World....Jill Pharren Phelps destroyed that show with her awful decisions...The only thing that I remembered about Sunset Beach is that I remember a villainess on there that impregnated her rival  with a turkey baster, in order to bolster her accusations of infidelity to get her man..I am not lying you guys, I was so appalled when somebody told me this.....It is when I knew that Soaps would not last for long..Outlandish plots and twists took precedence over character development and  entertainment....I personally blame James E. Reilly for this phenomenon and all of the other soaps followed to suit to get their ratings up...JER got the show high ratings saving it from cancellation....However, it came at a price that we are still paying for, all this years later..This is just my opinion...

I thought Jamie Lyn Bauer was returning to DOOL as Laura. Did I miss her? I thought she was going be showing up when Abby was in the mental place. This taping schedule drives.me.up.the wall. I thought they took off 2 months to fix the problem but they are still 6 months behind. Even, if it got cancelled it would be on for another year. LOL!!!

The writers shouldn't have left KA/Hope in limbo for so long after PR/Bo left.  Having Bo return, Bo/Hope reunite for two seconds, and then having Bo die was really dumb and a waste of time.  Even if PR/Bo returned full time, there is no guarantee the SL would be any better.  Look at what they've done to Steve/Kayla.  I also think it's a mistake to count on previous great pairings or SLs to overcome lousy writing.  Besides even if the SL is good, there is no guarantee the original magic will still be there.  At one time, Rachel/Steve/Alice on Another World was major SL.  Steve died, and Rachel and Alice went on to other things.  Years later, they resurrected Steve, and the triangle no longer worked.  They ended up killing Steve off again.

I still think a better pairing would have been Kayla/Aiden.  Hope should have been happy with some other guy, and chose to stay with him when Bo returned.

If Theresa took out Victor, I would be cheering her on.  I'm so tired of these idiot old criminal men threatening women and the women are just expected to put up with it.

I am trying to remember the last time Theresa did something poisonous or villainous--maybe about a year ago when she convinced Melanie to leave?  Right after she got Tate back?  Since then Theresa has been a pretty good person--being a good mom to Tate and slowly winning over Brady, Maggie and Marlena.  Yet, according to Victor--she's the worst person ever.  And then we have Abby who set someone on fire and then set another fire when she was in a mental hospital and everyone is worried--do no understand.

I did like Theresa's tell off to Victor--"You try and take my kid, I will end you old man"--WOO HOO, you go girl!!

And I really think that Maggie is getting sick of the endless hate Victor's always spewing--what an awful person.

I also kind of want to see Alla Korot's character grind Summer into the ground--that should be entertaining :)

I loved the potential of the Kaiden pairing could have been like....Kayla sparkled with Aiden at the Horton Square before the Wilson wedding...They could have been good and I would have loved to see Steve's reaction...I would have also loved it if Stefanie liked Aiden and bonded with him..

As far as Hope, I would have loved to see Hope and Adrienne have a fun rivalry over Deimos,  with Hope winning and Adrienne reuniting with Justin..Deimos should have been Victor's long lost son...It would have been interesting to see Hope fall for him only to find out that he was behind Bo's disappearance...

Wait. WAIT. On Monday Deimos was begging Chloe to run away with him. Now he's decided he wants Nicole. So was he planning on settling with Chloe because he couldn't have Nicole or does he want to settle with Nicole because Chloe turned him down? This is ridiculous. And I still have no idea what that thing was between him and Kate.

Prictor is repulsive trash. I have no use for Summer's Eve but for him to say those things about her in front of Maggie is just cruel.

I hope Failure is killed by one of her relatives in the animal kingdom.

I also want to give Jen Lilley credit for having the guts to appear on screen with little to no make up on her face--she looked absolutely exhausted and I love that she has no problem looking less than glam because her character and the scene required it.  Contrast that to KM's Abby and the ridiculous "burn" mask she had on--when she took that mask off, there should have been burns or at least redness but I guess the show didn't want to mar her "breath-taking beauty."  :):)

Deimos makes no sense..First it was Nicole who looked just like his dead lover Helena, then he had an interlude with Kate the human welcome mat, later a dalliance with Chloe and now he is back to wanting Nicole again...I am so confused about him..Vincent is so wasted in this role..Why couldn't he be a dashing business man with an agenda..He has the look, the acting chops and  the charisma to pull it off

Victor is just revolting...He is so hateful for no reason...He is so abusive to Theresa and it makes me uncomfortable due to his awful history with Kim, Shane and Andrew..This is the same man that ripped Andrew out of Kim's arms after she gave birth to him..Why do the writers not give Theresa ammunition when he starts to attack her so viciously...Theresa needs to call Sami and ask her how she caused Victor to have a stroke years ago....He needs to go away..

This show is so abysmal and it is a chore to watch..I only watch to snark with you guys....I don't know how long that I can take this..Where are  Steve and Kayla? I even miss their idiot son Joey...lol The pacing of the show is horrible...Obviously, the viewers agree with me due to the awful ratings...

They have chemistry, but, the dialogue would have been appropriate for a couple that had a long history together like Bo and Hope, Steve and Kayla...Like everything on this show, their story took place offscreen and it is hard to give a damn about it...Deimos said that he knows the real Nicole, he does not know her at all..

At this point I will take what I can get. To me it beats Hope/Rafe or Hope/Aiden, Brady/Theresa. We get no more Steve/Kayla. So I suspend belief in the length of this match-up, just great acting and likeable actors.

I do like Deimos doesn't want to  change Nicole.   She suppose to be scheming little bitch.   And I do like that suspense factor that Chloe still likes Deimos and keeping from Nicole she bionked him.   It will be entertaining to see where that goes.  I still take major issue with Deimos what he did to Bo and Maggie,  that's still unforgivable.

As for Victor,  he needs to loosen up his Depends and stop bitching so damn much.   It's one thing to want to protect family but it's another thing to be ridiculous at all who are not bothering you.

I swear why do Janet look like the Progressive insurance woman.

Summer gets more money,  please,  take it and mozy off my screen!

Other than that this was a better episode.   Days has its problems,  too many to list,   but I'm hating how one day I get a decent episode then then the next a horrible episode.   Days really needs to look at their script writers and find out who are the weak links and get them replaced.

Did that hospital guy just call Chad "Mister DuMera"?

Did Theresa just say the wedding is August 15?  Isn't that in the middle of the Olympics, which Days is shut down for?

Did Summer just walk right in to Victor and Maggie's condo without knocking?

God, Victor, you are such an ass.

I love Parker and Nicole's interactions.

JJ and Chad work well together.  It helps to have two good actors working in the same scenes.

Why would anyone in their right mind accept food or drink from the hands of Andre DiMera?  Why does Andre need connections?  He has a lot of them.

Is Show really going to try to reform Deimos?

Sami so needs to return to Salem, and show Theresa how to shoot and throw a punch.  Jen Lilley is gorgeous even without makeup.

The insta-pairings are bad enough, but when they have a character flip flop between three or four different people in a week, they lose all credibility.  VI is a good actor, and it's going to be all up to him to make the character of Diemos work, because once again the writers can't be bothered to do their job.

Where is a fireplace poker when you need it?  My gosh Victor is such a self-involved creep.  It's no wonder Brady is such a bully (albeit in dullard form).  I've had enough of the both of them.

Please Summer, take the satchel of money and leave Salem forever.  The person responsible for this insufferable character should be embarrassed.

VI and AZ are so good.  Even though their story doesn't make a damn bit of sense and changes every day that they're on, I'm enjoying these two talented professionals and their wicked hot chemistry.  I might also be down for an unholy alliance between Kate and Andre but I doubt the writing will do these other two pros any favors.

I'll take Casey Moss doing about anything but also really like him with Billy Flynn.

Here come JJ and Chad, redeeming the show for me a bit : ) They do act well together, don't they? I'm so glad they found something for Casey Moss to do in between front burner stories. It already feels like Abigail's been gone for a long time, so it was a little startling to see Chad still in full panic mode. Pacing is not the show's strength, for sure. Miles better than the first of the week.

Jenna was the adopted child of auteur Felicia Gallant and a bit precious. Dean was a rocker. Jenna did an almost-porn video that got cut into one of Dean's MTV videos. She also had an older man obsess about her. He was shot while holding her captive at a nightclub and it messed with her for a while.

I think her best stuff was with Felicia's actual daughter Lorna, who loathed her, having grown up sans Mommy.

It might be challenging for JJ and Chad to find Abby. She escaped with no real plans - no credit cards, no money, few job skills. Maybe she can befriend Summer and help herself to some of her newly found cash.

Deimos needs to make up his mind who he wants. Stringing three women along will make him end up in some witches' brew cauldron. We all deserve someone who wants to be with us unconditionally and accepts us for who we *are*.  At least Deimos doesn't want Nicole to change, which is far more than most men in her life have ever done.

Thank the Soap Gods for some JJ today, and some Chad without Abigail.  I guess is the storyline was about someone missing I cared about, it might be a little grim.  But since I'm more than happy to imagine Abigail has gone to live on the other side of the rainbow bridge, I got to just enjoy these two good characters portrayed by two more than decent actors.

Did you all catch Ciara with her flat affect and flatter voice eyeing Chad?  I suspect there was more to her scene that ended up getting cut, for which I am truly grateful.

I agree.  While I enjoy each and every scene with VI, and also with NB and always with AZ, there has to be some decisive movement with Deimos and Nicole.  I expect there will be a tug with Chloe, too, not a storyline I want - seems tired and frankly stupid for two women who are friends to fight over a man - gaaaaa, doesn't that sound awful? - but I bet the writers go there.

What I am looking forward to, for sure, is Deimos facing off with Kate, especially now that she has her very own flying monkey, Andre.  Things may not go as planned.

But it might be good to watch with all these seasoned performers at work.

I want someone to slip an extra dose of metamucil in Victor's morning feedbag.  Something needs to shut this mean old windbag UP.  I loved Theresa telling him off and it looks like he's in for more from Maggie.  Victor needs to have someone he loves actually freeze him out and mean it.  Let him find out that his hateful behavior has consequences.

One thing I didn't care for was Theresa acting like she was afraid to tell Brady she dosed off for a microsecond with Tate.  First of all, she wasn't sacked out asleep, but even more, she doesn't need to talk to him as if she's begging him to approve or forgive.  She's much too good for him, much too good for that whole Kiriakis clan.

Nothing to be ashamed of being really tired and dozing off for a minute. As long as you aren't driving or in a place to do harm to someone. Theresa's relationship with Brady is not healthy or remotely equal. No need to beg someone to approve or forgive. It's time to re-evaluate the idea of marriage and look at Brady's actions and not words. Talk is very cheap. Theresa will be banging her head against the wall for a very long time. 40 or so year old Brady needs to grow a spine and become independent from Grandpa Victor. Maybe work out a good shared custody arrangement for Tate and move on to a better life for both.

Lots of women (especially friends) can and do fight over a guy. It's an old story to tell.  Both are best off dumping him to the curb.

Perhaps someone needs to pour some glue into Vic's OJ. That'll keep him quiet for a bit.

I read that it was Peter's idea because he wanted "closure" on the character...and was a stipulation in his short-term deal in order for him to return at all.

I wish Bo/Peter had stayed. I am one of the few that never saw anything great about Aiden even when he was allegedly a "good" guy. I don't blame PR for wanting to clean Bo up a bit after the utter hatchet job the writers did with Bo initially, especially considering the history Peter had invested in Bo. Bo was many things, but he was never a deadbeat and never would have left Hope and his kids twisting in the wind.

Maybe that was to make Saint Aiden look good. I don't know. But it never worked for me.

Totally agree with your post...and I never cared for Aiden either. I'm really hoping that Hope is just "testing" Aiden instead of actually falling for him again. IOW, she's a cop...and the longer you spend talking and interacting with a "suspect", the more you REALLY get to know them. Hope you finds out all the dirt on Aiden, even if it's too late for her & Rafe. Mama Hernandez would like nothing better :)

I suppose today we'll get more of Aiden.  I used to like him (although it took me awhile to warm up to the character) but after the thing with his wife, I was unsure.  And now that they've turned him into a sleazebag, he needs to go.  You ruined it, Days.  Cut your losses and send Aiden packing.

The Nicole/Deimos scenes were slightly disappointing to me.  I really loved Chloe with him and this is going to be a hugely unpopular opinion, but lately Nicole's been grating on my nerves.  Can the writers ever make her anything but a victim? When can she ever just have some peace in her life? She can get slightly whiny at times and that's what bugs me.  *dodges flying tomatoes*  Still, I'll take any scene with VI that I can get.  He is amazing.

Could someone please put Victor in a shipping crate and send him to an unpopulated island somewhere? I didn't like Theresa being bitchy with the nanny, but she is so undeserving of his constant wrath and abuse.

Where in the hell are Steve & Kayla??   I'd rather see them then watch Rafe & what's her face.

I do kind of love Deimos & Nicole- just wish the storyline for them was better (but am going to enjoy them going after Kate) - I do think he has chemistry with Chloe but like him a lot better with Nicole.

And can we have JJ/Chad teaming up every day?   I'd easily watch the two of them every single day.

I really hate Ciara - I would love to see them recast with someone better.

Summer needs to go away.

Maybe eventually we'll get writers who actually care about this show & the characters & we'll actually start getting good storylines (I know a girl can dream)

I think that was to punish Peter Reckell, especially since it started long before Cosgrove was even in the picture.  He publicly spoke out about the lack of story for Bo, being pushed into a supporting role and was going to leave and I believe TPTB punished him for it.

I'm only hoping here, but I HOPE they had to beg him on bended knee to come back just to wrap it all up when they could see how badly they'd bungled it all.

I can easily see Ken Corday punishing someone for leaving the show.  What they did to Bo isn't the first or last time they trashed a character when there were a thousand other ways to write the character out.  If they wanted to try to undo the hatchet job they did on Bo, they still could have done the "Bo was kidnapped" SL without trashing Aiden in the process.

Look what they did to Sami, Lucas, Kate, and Will.  Will dies, Sami returns to Salem for two seconds, Lucas gets no screen time, and Kate never gets to mention Will.  Thank you AS and LK for the scene of Sami and Kate hugging each other.  That was the only decent scene in that entire SL.

Forgot to mention Victor/Maggie/Brady. Brady was awful to Maggie, preventing her from going after her daughter like that. The most riveting thing about Maggie these days is that I can feel her frustration at not being the master of her own agency. First she can't leave in a huff and slam the door, now Brady keeps her from moving out of the room and after Summer. "Oh no, Maggie, it's better this way." Who the fuck are you, Brady, to do that? Aaaargh.

And Victor -- man, he can't get out of his own way. Maggie's ready to burst out of anger and frustration and I don't blame her a bit.

I always felt that there should have been a scene between Sami, Kate and Lucas lamenting all those years that they spent fighting over Will, only to lose him in the end anyway..Then I would want them to dry their tears and plot and avenge their beloved Will...Those three together would have been a force to reckon with..I would want the Bradys to turn a blind eye to their revenge scheme in taking out Ben...That should have been the only crime that should have been covered up..Plus, Kate, Sami and Lucas are anti-heroes anyway, so, they would not have been written into a corner...

I felt the same way.  How DARE Brady literally force his will on her the way he did?  He's a man of extremes to begin with and then he compounds it by being a bully.  He's more like Victor than he thinks, just as mean and controlling but nowhere near as smart.  It's almost as if Jawn and Marlena are after-thoughts in his life anymore and it's Victor who raised him from birth.

I feel for Maggie, being basically imprisoned, having all her decisions made for her by two people who have the gall to think they know best.

See?  Yesterday Andre said he needed Kate's help with her contacts, but today he said he still has his finger on the pulse of the town.

Why is Kate freaked out about being alone in her house?  And where is her staff?

So what's up with that property Andre wants?

LOL, "I doubt if she's dead, they would have found a body by now." So much sympathy.

Sorry, Philip, the shirt sleeves folded over the suit cuffs is not a good luck.

Nicole, listen to Dario.  Deimos really is playing you.

Dammit, Show, if you're going to show us dramatic scenes, let us see them!  What did JJ find?

Yeah, the wide-eyed "I'm sorry, Brady, I hope you can understand...!" stuff weirds me out. It's like Theresa is a battered girlfriend. As much as I like JL, I wonder if she couldn't find another way to play those scenes, so her character doesn't seem so desperate to please and keep her so-called man.

Is Bristen the only Brady relationship that made sense during Eric Martoff's time in the role? That time, we both knew what they were getting...and he seemed really nice towards Kristen, considering. With all his other girlfriends he just seems mean or dumb.

I've yet to see Brady have a human relationship.  Or a woman who deserves to be punished that way.   Except, maybe, Kristen.  She was just nuts enough, and mean enough, to be what he ultimately deserved.

So is Blanca Mamma Hernandez' idea of a toy her boys should share?   Makes perfect sense, too, that one phone call from a work acquaintance would not only bring a woman on an extended visit from another country, but that then said woman would get a job and stay permanently.  So, did she bring all her stuff, furniture, pots, pans, houseplants, blender and eggbeater with her or will they be shipped?  Stupid in so many ways.

JPL......dear, sweet Lord he's awful.  He looked more like he'd eaten a bad pickle than he was pickled.  And then we've got Belle....actually, the way Show is portraying her, pretty much anyone could have Belle.  I hope Shawn uses handi-wipes before and after each encounter.

Nice to see JJ, Chad, even Jen, today.  Ditto Lucas and Andre.  They at least provided some decent acting and/or comedic moments.

If Nicole and Deimos are going to torture Kate, let the games being.  Immediately.

And how about we get a short break before all that and GET TO SEE KAYLA AND STEVE???

Brady and Theresa would be well served by attending a few pre-marriage seminars. He's a spoiled man-child and not really worth too much time for any woman, unless she likes a temporary 'pretty'. Some women don't really see the abuse and their propensity to please - at whatever price.

Why would this Bianca/Blanca woman move to Salem? Is Mama H a good cook? Does she owe her a favour? There are probably a lot of good nursing jobs in states like Texas, California, etc. Being bilingual in Spanish and having only a handful of Hernandi to look after? Maybe she's ISA. Rafe or Dario would treat her like a kid sister and may not be charmed by her.

Do wonder what JJ found? Abs' diary? Her book? His sister is in a dark place.

Chad, use your head when it comes to your brother Andre. He don't have your best or any wishes at heart. He's playing on you.

Nikki, why are you trusting a dude you just met? You being a dead-ringer for his former beloved has zero to do with him being a decent human being. Spending 30 years in jail does things to people. I probably also wouldn't trust Dario the conman either, but it takes one to know one. You have been around the block and Greek islands with the Kiriakis and DiMera folks. Your radar should be really on. Although torturing Kate may be fun.

Chloe, why do you need to move to Salem? Isn't Chicago or its deep woods where you live, only an hour's drive from Salem? Commute or visit.

I liked Andre telling Chad not to worry today, and that Abigail probably wasn't dead since they hadn't found her body.  That was funny.  But also sad, because I wish Abigail was in fact dead.  Can't win them all, I guess.

Deimos and Nicole taking revenge on Kate should be fun, and I'm looking forward to more Nicole/Chloe/Parker.

There's no way someone like Chloe would ever have anything to do with this version on Philip.  No. Way.

Andre would know all about someone not being dead dead, and a dead body means nothing.  Also, this is Salem AND a soap, therefore, dead means nothing.

Theresa needs to buy a clue.  Brady isn't worth it.  No man is worth what she is putting up with.  I knew Brady was to stupid to live, but Theresa used to be smarter than this.
