Giada Entertains is a terrible show. "Fake" is a great way to describe it. Her original show (at least the early seasons) was great. Then she got full of herself.

I find Giada Entertains cringeworthy.  It makes me feel sorry for her party guests.  I cannot even imagine being invited to a party where such thought and planning and ego goes into the guest experience.  A little while ago I caught the "Giada Film Festival" or whatever episode . . . she requests her guests shoot short films that will be judged during the party . . . and she says something like, "This will push them out of their comfort zone.  And that's sort of the point, isn't it?" 

Call me old school.  But I always thought the point of parties and get-togethers was to have fun.  To relax.  To enjoy. 

Giada's parties seem like a lot of work.  Not for her, but for her guests.

I had it on and my 21 year old son watched a few minutes and said "what is going on on this show"? Why are these people sitting around being filmed licking this woman's shoes about her average appetizers and why is she dressed like that to have guests over?"

The Justice Department approved today Discovery Communications (TLC, ID, OWN, Discovery, etc.) $14.6 billion purchase of Scripps Networks Interactive (owner of Food Network, Cooking Channel, HGTV, Travel Channel, DIY and GAC) and, according to Discovery's CEO, David Zaslav, the deal will close in two weeks.

Every show has ratings. They use them to charge for advertising and determine if they'll be renewed. Why would they air a show that no one is watching?

Speaking of CC shows,Secret Eats with Adam Richman is just what i suspected it was..a repackaging of his old Travel Channel show Man Finds Food (noticed at the end some of the production credits are listed under"For Travel Channel"

Nah it’s a series. And Secret Eats originally aired on Travel Channel and since Scripps owns both (for now) they’re putting the reruns on CC. (Edit: Looks like the two shows you mentioned are one in the same and had a name change during a hiatus so you might’ve caught a season one episode you already saw.)

For the first time ever, 'The Kitchen' beats (although barely) 'Pioneer Woman' on viewers and demo 18-49 for the quarter, counting only original episodes ('The Kitchen' had 13 while 'PW' had 9). On the demo 25-54 which advertisers desire more on a channel like FN, 'The Kitchen' beats 'PW' convincingly. While Trisha and Valerie haven't retained the audiences both PW and TK leave them (Valerie even was moved to Sundays), The Kitchen has proven itself by standing on its own, not depending on other shows to lift its ratings. Even both PW and TK get more audience that some prime time shows on the network.

As it happened last quarter with 'Guy's Big Project,' Guy hasn't been able to bring his massive following to Sunday at 9pm, getting lower ratings for his 'GGG: DDD Tournament' that some other game shows that air on that timeslot like 'Worst Cooks,' 'Food Network Star' or the first season of 'Iron Chef Gauntlet'. The show that came out from 'Big Project', 'The Grill Dads' wasn't a big hit, but wasn't a big failure either. The problem was that when it didn't have a new episode of 'DDD' before it, its ratings weren't that good. But, if 'Vegas Cakes' got a second season from FN with even lower ratings 'Grill Dads' should get one too.
