ANOTHER show for Duff Goldman, this time a 'GGG' about desserts. 'Texas Cake House' got the go ahead to become a series, even with disappointing pilot ratings and, apparently Damaris Phillips is getting another show with one of the two Bobby's, either Flay or Deen; also not clear is what kind of cooking series this would be: an instructional cooking show like 'Grill It!', a travelogue, a competition cooking show a la 'Masterchef' or a cooking talk show, given the success of 'The Kitchen' and the fact that Bobby Flay did a pilot for a daytime talk show with Giada for syndication that didn't sell, so maybe FN wants to do another talk show, this time with Flay and Damaris. 

 

Bobby and Giada did a talk show pilot..? Maybe why it didnt sell is cause it was copying Live With Kelly & Ryan..

Monster Food-so essentially this will be CC's version of Ginormous Food,i assume the Carnival Eats guy will be the host,and Ali Khan hosts the Late-Nite Eats show

Guy's Big Project.-let me guess,it's about him planning to open a new restaurant someplace..

Everything else is same as it ever was. Another, ANOTHER "food forward travel show". Cakes, Kids, Wars...

Having watched a bunch of DDD and various other US and Canadian FN material on FN UK last summer (late night, time zone issues causing sleeplessness, otherwise I'm not spending time watching TV in London!), it's only fitting we get some of their shows.

FN put Ina in a bad timeslot because their target audience doesn't like an informative cooking show.  Their sister station, Cooking Channel has gone the same way.  I haven't seen any new episodes of  My Grandmother's Raviolis & Extra Virgin.

You know -- I rarely watch any of the food prep shows (save Ina) these days.   I actually miss SemiHo with Aunt Sandy.   That's something I never thought I would say!   At least her using a historic quilt as a tablecloth while downing a few dozen Bloody Ritas (or whatever her custom cocktail was) entertained me and gave me ideas that I could morph into recipes.

Seeing that Ina dropped to 11th prompts me to share Jacques Pepin's views regarding reality cooking shows. Well, really shows like Hells Kitchen but I am taking the liberty to expand his comments to cooking competitions. If Jacques has a problem with that, he can curse me out in French while we share a fine Bordeaux. Thanks to @cooksdelight who posted this article on the Top Chef forum.

 So there's another new show about some guy going around the country eating ridiculously large food.    It's on Travel Channel not Food Network, but it's all Scripps.  I'm sick to death of the promo for Ginormous Food literally every commercial break on FN and now this one has been added into the rotation.  They have another red-headed, schluby guy only this looks less kempt and even lamer than the hipster wannabe on Ginormous Food.   I can't believe there's enough people who want to watch a show like this to support having one, much less two.

It's amazing how dominant Food Network Star is in FN's ratings. The difference between it and the second place show is greater than that of the second and fourteenth show.

That blog is so right on. I always thought Pepin and other real "chefs" must be disgusted with the shows that the Food Network is producing. They should change the name of their network to Contests about Food Network. No common sense, no culinary background, no cleanliness, needed.

Not good!  From the get go, more time is required to make a dessert. This format is not practical. The Baking Championships are a better showcase for these skills.

I think thats the revived Man VS Food,but with some new guy replacing Adam Richman(previous host)

Programming Notes:

-'Ginormous Food' and 'Incredible Edible America', which were advertised and promoted to go on the air this past Friday and Monday night respectively, were taken off abruptly from the schedule altogether and, as of now, aren't returning to the network. Ratings for 'Ginormous' were way down from its first season and 'Edible' had terrible ratings, surpassed even by 'Tia Mowry at Home'. FN has had troubles trying to find a successful companion to 'DDD' and a Monday 10P hit show and the new one called 'I Hart Food' doesn't look promising looking at the promos. 

-Also leaving the schedule completely is 'Chopped Junior'. It's unclear if it was cancelled or its coming back even in reruns, although this 'Chopped' shows have plenty of episodes taped months in advance regarding ratings, as 'Chopped Junior's' were also down from its first season. Proof about it is that this Sunday, the first challenge on 'Food Network Star' is based on 'Ginormous Food'. As 'FNS' was taped in January and the new season of 'Ginormous' didn't start until April, they didn't know the show would go down as it was.

Wow, they've been heavily flogging Ginormous Food and now the new iteration of Man V Food. You can only ride the trend for so long, then you've got to do something else.

 Well now at least I won't have to see that Ginormous Food commercial that makes me dive for the remote 5 times an hour.  Of course, I now have to mute the incessant I Hart Food (yeah,no.  ain't happpenin FN) and the cake couple show (again, no).

I keep getting the stupid commercials for Katie Lee's Bouncing Around in a Bikini Beach Bites and before I managed to hit mute (dog was on the remote; bad doggy, no treat), I saw that it was a new season. How in the Hell did that get a new season? I came here to see if @ny1221's posts on the ratings listed it, they don't, and am now back to my original conspiracy theory that she has video of a "very high up in the company of FN or Scripps" individual naked, in a room with a prostitute using drugs. A Marion Barry situation.

There just cannot be any reasonable explanation for her continual appearance on the network. Her voice is awful, she never has any idea what she is talking about and Bobby Flay is the only who appears to be able to tolerate her, and that comes across as strained a lot of the time, too.

It's not on the list because those are ratings for the Food Network only and Beach Bites airs on their sister channel the Cooking Channel. I have only caught an episode or two but thought it was decent.

The merger is expected to close in early 2018.
