Another good week!

I emailed my R senators and congresswoman a list of 5 things I did last week. I gave them an earful.  A friend who works (for now) for NOAA sent a list to Elon full of technical jargon that his boys won’t understand.

I love Amy K but agree the Ds are not doing enough. “Holding them to account” and meaningless stunts like the delay do nothing. People don’t see this. They need to go talk to voters in states (ME, AK) where their Sens are persuadable. Go talk to people in states (VA, NC) where the cuts are disproportionate. Send Bernie!  Send Pete!  They will get attention.

That directive sounded like something a manager would require. In fact, I (and other managers) did require something like that every week so we had a good idea of what our reports were doing to either complete tasks needed for our project or research things that could be used to make our processes smoother.

What Elon would do with this information is unclear, unless this is a tactic to make the workers think that they should be "doing" more than they are. I'm betting that if anyone responds, the emails won't be including things like "shopping online", "searching for material to undercut DOGE", or "updating my resume and online profiles".

It does seem that there is some kind of waste in many of these businesses, because we have such a huge deficit, but it would be easier to deal with changes if Musk and company were more transparent about how they were identifying unnecessary expenditures and so on. It is the lack of transparency while proclaiming that they are being so open that makes it hard not to see this as knee jerk axe-swinging.

There is waste in every department of every company & probably a lot more in government BUT the way to try & fix that waste is not to just fire everybody & anybody just because it seems like a good idea. If you asked any level of manager of any company, they will almost always tell you that the people below them could be doing more as would their bosses BUT the answer still isn't to fire everybody at whatever level suits one person who knows absolutely nothing about that job.

I get that it sounds like a good idea to get rid of waste, but you first need to know what that waste is and not throw out the good with any bad, which is what is happening. But now they want some people to come back because they were fired by accident, how about "FUCK YOU!" Elon & his pet orange felon.

I saw there was an ad for the new Tesla, it's called the Tesla SS and it goes from 0 to 1939 in 5 seconds.

Agree. Then why so much resistance towards naming 5 accomplishments? IOW, why not take this opportunity to show that you are important to the your government department head. And maybe it could even lead to getting a raise.

Because it's meaningless & only meant as a reason to fire people who don't meet Musk's idea of what someone should do. There are much better & meaningful ways to find out what someone does.

Susan Lucci still looks great! Good for her being in Joy's play. Will Reeve looks somewhat like his dad, although not a carbon copy of him. He seems to have had a good early life despite both his parents dying relatively young.

Something as basic as reading their job description for a start.

Well, to be fair, there's the job description and then there's what the person actually does all day. Easy to figure out what they should be doing, but whether they are spending time doing that or achieving the goals inherent in their job description is another story. As Reagan said quoting the Russian proverb, "Trust but verify".

Federal employee's managers and department heads already know what the worker has accomplished.   There are already mechanism's in place for that.  And if you are doing a great job, there are ways to reward good performance.   The major issue is the request came from outside the chain of command.   And the request lacked context.

It would be like the VP of Finance at a private company sent emails to everyone asking what they did last week without any other context.   The other VPs at that company would probably instruct their employees not to respond, and would coordinate any response if it was appropriate.

Whoopi does NOT like to be corrected (i.e. the pronunciation of Diana Taurasi’s last name) but if she would do the BARE MINIMUM and learn how to pronounce their guest name before reading it off the Teleprompter, she wouldn’t have to be corrected!

You know, it's a crazy idea but it just might work!! 💡😉😁

that's the least she could do but she's too lazy

Jeez, Alyssa was terrible on Wednesday. She was going to make sure Sunny didn't even get to speak the one time while she speaks after every single person, not even letting Whoopi go to break without trying to speak after her. She gets her turn to speak just like everyone else, so I'm not sure why the show doesn't rein her in already. Maybe time to think about cutting her mic the way they'd considered with McCan't?

There goes Joy picking flies out of horseshit again saying that Musk was pro-apartheid. I'm glad legal made her retract her accusation.

Also, saying that Musk shouldn't be talking at cabinet meetings because he's not the president, may I remind you that Jill wasn't our president either, and yet she actually sat down at the table and RAN many of Biden's meetings.

Source please. That's a rumour that I haven't heard before.

Jill was a college professor and was the first First Lady to keep her full time job while she lived at the White House.

Never mind. I found the falsehood myself - a false statement shared all over the internet by MAGA and by Trump at his rallies and random postings on fan forums..

Quote

Jill Biden joined a Cabinet meeting to give a women’s health update. She’s not running the US

First lady Jill Biden joined President Joe Biden’s Sept. 20 Cabinet meeting to discuss updates on the women’s health initiative, a White House endeavor she has headed since its creation in 2023. First ladies, during both Republicans and Democratic administrations, have joined Cabinet meetings in the past.

The White House told PolitiFact that the binder seen in a viral photograph shows the first lady’s signature along with Biden’s is a keepsake typically given to attendees of White House events and is not used by staff for official purposes.

We got the source from that one meeting.  I'm interested in the rest of them you refer to?  Can  you post those sources please?

Do you honestly think Alyssa or someone else wouldn't have said something along those lines IF it was true in any way shape or form, which it's patently not?

I mean Alyssa spent her first turn singing the praises of Musk & his wonderfulness in his business dealings like she wants to have his next child.

It’s ironic that Joy is talking about Monica Lewinsky after her countless jokes. Has she ever apologized to Monica for making her the butt of her mean jokes?  Even right now she called it “having fun” with her.

I like Joy, but I was cringing at her attitude toward Monica...her Clinton bias was showing through, the younger panelists like Sarah & Adriana & Alyssa seemed more compassionate towards Monica's situation when she was a young woman.  On another note, I am very impressed with Governor Pritzker of Illinois.  I liked all his points and telling his family background...seems like a smart & empathetic person.

Oh gosh, I enjoy Joy but that is really not good.  Monica has a podcast now and she has had a hard go of it.  I used to think in my naive younger days, well she was an adult.  But, the human brain doesn't even finish growing until mid 20s. And there is the power differential.  Monica has tried very hard to live a fulfilling life and it hasn't been easy.  I think the life she lives now is not the one she envisioned for herself.

NO excuses.

We know Joy comes from old school comedians/comediennes for whom famous/infamous women were easy targets, low hanging fruit, lazy go to jokes, cuz hating on women is universal and anything goes in the boys club.....  .....Elizabeth Taylor's weight, marriages, etc., Cher's plastic surgery and younger boyfriends, etc.

It's sad that she hasn't grown to evolve and support women. I don't care how old she is,  fucking look around.  She wdnt still be on tv without the hard fought efforts of women and/ or people of color, older people, and LGBTQ+ to widen that camera lens beyond white men.

Read the dam room.
