How has Chen not figured out that Blond Recruit is a lying liar who lies? I am a suspicious person but I knew from the first lie about the overdosing girlfriend. And it therefore raises concerns about the LAPD psych testing, Tim's reassurances notwithstanding.

I wonder if Seth isn't really Seth? I remember watching a doc many years ago about a hiker who was murdered and his killer assumed his identity.

Or maybe Seth is just someone who has always gotten though life by lying to cover up his shortcomings.

That wouldn't surprise me because the plotlines are so silly in this show. Still, I don't know if a serial killer would be so "vomit-y" seeing a dead body/overdose victim. I would think he'd become used to that.
