Trini May 17, 2020 Share May 17, 2020 Azie Tesfai 'Previews Season 5 Finale' in this interview at CBR: Quote CBR: Kelly Olsen is a totally new character with no comic book history. How did that impact the way you developed her personality and her voice? Azie Tesfai: You know, when I auditioned for Kelly, I actually had a pretty good amount of information of what they were going to do with her and her arc and her backstory. So that was helpful. Then I did a chemistry test with Chyler [Leigh] and I think, right now, a lot of the little magical pieces of her came in the chemistry with Chyler, in our read, and just seeing the energy between us. It was super great. I knew she was strong. I knew that she had this kind of incredible journey with her career and being in war and being a psychologist and had this deep love for her brother and had been the stable force in her family. So I had that to hold onto, her strength as a woman. It's always been the grounding for us: that Kelly has had to take care of herself. She's really strong for everyone around her. A big thing that the writers had come in with was, with all of that, she's incredibly kind and empathetic and leads with her heart. So those were kind of the initial points for me to focus on and, man, I've been lucky, because Chyler is so talented. I just go on the ride with her in terms of everything else. Quote On a similar note, Kelly has been getting more and more involved in uncovering Leviathan's plot. Where does that take her in the season finale? I think Kelly is really the only Super Friend who has access to Obsidian and will help them, so you'll see that in the finale. She is gonna support Alex always. So, as Alex is fighting for good, she'll always have Alex's back, which you'll see in the finale. She stands on the side of good, no matter if it's her job. The only reason that she's committed to Obsidian in the way that she is, is because she really did believe that it was helping more than it was hurting. I think, as we are realizing that that's not necessarily true, Kelly continues to stand on the side of what's just and right, which is awesome. Link to comment

Avabelle June 8, 2020 Share June 8, 2020 (edited) I’ll admit the baity headline they gave that article on twitter made me think she was coming out herself but upon reading it she’s saying people stopped being friends with her for playing a gay character? Oreo2234 June 8, 2020 Share June 8, 2020 (edited) In her post it seems like she might be hinting at something about herself but I don't know. Either way its terrible that some of her friends basically disowned her family because she played a gay character. But she's better off not having friends like that. Featherhat June 8, 2020 Share June 8, 2020 (edited) Weren't she and her husband involved with a fairly fundamentalist church movement at one point, that they both credit with helping them get/stay clean? Those might be some of the friends/family she's talking about. Edited June 8, 2020 by Featherhat 2 Link to comment
Avabelle June 8, 2020 Share June 8, 2020 Maybe.. I don’t know what the article is trying to say. The headline Is misleading though. Link to comment
Featherhat June 8, 2020 Share June 8, 2020 The headline is misleading but reading it again it does sound like a roundabout way of coming out, even though it's obviously not 100%. "Variation of my truth" "some truth to what she said about me" "it's been a long and lonely road for my husband and myself but we are still discovering ourselves and how to be proud of who we really are." I know that can mean a variety of things but on an LGBTQ website that's a coming out story. Obviously she's a strong ally but it could be more then that. Whatever issues she's thinking about are obviously deeply personal. I'm personally acquainted with a lot of "almost but not quite" coming out publicly issues so if it's that I definitely understand not spitting it out with other things going on in her life. 3 Link to comment
Oreo2234 June 8, 2020 Share June 8, 2020 It does seem like she might be hinting at something but she's being vague enough that its hard to tell. 2 Link to comment
shantown June 8, 2020 Share June 8, 2020 I don't think any actor needs to give a statement on their sexuality (no matter how bad the fans want it/hope for it), but I think if you're going to make a statement it should actually say something. This reads like a blind item from a gossip site. 3 Link to comment
Oreo2234 June 8, 2020 Share June 8, 2020 (edited) Yes even if she is hinting at something its too vague to justify that headline. ETA: Chyler posted this on Instagram. Edited June 10, 2020 by Oreo2234 1 Link to comment
MarkHB June 10, 2020 Share June 10, 2020 The only really personal thing I've ever discerned from Chyler's social media is that she and her husband are so in love that it makes your teeth hurt. That, and the woman has the patience of a saint for being so kind and loving to the fans that comment her every post with, "WHY DID LEXIE HAVE TO DIE???" But really, unless there's something more in the actual walled-up post, that's an awful lot of publicity for a big self reveal of nothing (and a link to a site that you have to sign up to read). 2 Link to comment
Featherhat June 10, 2020 Share June 10, 2020 Reading her Instagram as well as the article I think she's basically come out as somewhere on the queer spectrum without actually saying the words, which is completely her prerogative. 3 Link to comment

It's possible that the rest of the cast will start filming, and Melissa will shoot her scenes later. (Like how they shot around her Broadway commitment 2 years ago.) Someone who's better at tracking these things can chime in, please; but I think Melissa was about 3 months along by March? (Her baby bump was visible in the last episode.) She may be due August/September, I think. 2 Link to comment

Quote It's possible that the rest of the cast will start filming, and Melissa will shoot her scenes later. (Like how they shot around her Broadway commitment 2 years ago.) That would allow them to film more episodes while still giving Melissa a decent break after giving birth. One of the Vancouver papparazzi (or something like that), @lemon_buzz, has said that Supergirl's official tentative start date is from September 28th to May 30th. Oreo2234 August 7, 2020 Share August 7, 2020 (edited) Bleedingcool wrote an article on how to improve the show next year. Quote Center the Show Back on Supergirl and Lena Supergirl at its core has always been about the women in the cast. And the axis around which most everything revolved was Kara and Lena's relationship. With that relationship fractured at the end of last season, it left Season 5 somewhat in a lurch. I disagree with this. I like Lena but I don't see Kara and Lena as the central relationship of the show and I don't think it should be. If there is one that should be its Kara/Alex. If anything I could do with a little less of their relationship and more of a focus on other characters and Kara's other relationships. I do agree that Nia needs more to do and that the show could do something interesting with J'onn and Alex and the detective agency. I see no reason for William to stick around. The show doesn't need multiple reporters and he doesn't work as a love interest for Kara. He's just a waste of screentime. Edited August 7, 2020 by Oreo2234 3 Link to comment
Avabelle August 7, 2020 Share August 7, 2020 Agreed with above especially re William. My main issue with above was more to do with Lena’s giant overreaction to Karas secret rather then the two friends being at odds. I just thought the storyline ran too long and Lena had to become a total drama queen in order to make it work. 1 Link to comment
