S10.E01: Raising Cane

Nobody likes JT enough to explain to Miss Pat that they all got rest-stop canes from JT as his attention-seeking idea of being “funny.”

Molly at least came in with more personality than most of the other women on this show, like Naomi or, um, not-Taylor…I think I already blocked out the one who was “dating” Austin and fighting with Taylor last year… Anyhoo, sexting Craig and trying to have Whitney’s baby are pretty desperate ways to try to get on this show, but I am kind of here for it. Total Kathryn season 1 vibes. Loved the jealous comments about Whitney’s date being low-energy and perhaps needing some orange juice to raise her blood sugar.

Every person to every other person (except Austin-Craig and Venita-JT) was basically like, whelp, I avoided talking to you for an entire year, but I guess we’re forced to be friends or at least frenemies now.

I guess Austin and Craig will see how much Shep has really changed. Though, whatever he did on that retreat that sounds like he was on some type of psychedelics (as a step to get “sober”?!?!) was pretty spot-on. That’s exactly what would happen to Taylor metaphorically being forced in his “nest”—her just repeatedly flying into windows, banging her head instead of soaring.

Well, JT learned nothing from his first season, he's still an obnoxiously pompous little try-hard. Nice concocted showmance with Venita too. Still hate Taylor and wish she'd been dropped vs. Olivia.

Finding Molly interesting so far. Although I am completely convinced that the price of entry to this show is a pretend hookup or dalliance with Whitney.

I'm on the side of Craig & Austin. Shep's story will not end well, he's not looking to change. He still ridicules Craig on the regular for not partying. Plus, all those claims of being there in past years. I just don't recall his ever being a supportive friend. He was a drinking buddy and his idea of friendship appears to be using them as wingman while belittling them for having girlfriends or career ambitions.

Can you imagine living in that world where Whitney is the gate keeper and you have to pay that price for admission...I'd join a nunnery.

Also, I do not believe he actually has sex with women, I get the asexual vibe from him.

So no Cameron, Katherine ?  Who else didn’t come back?  Madison’s husband traveling to the west coast where he’s still a fireman three times a week.  What the hell.  Craig’s girlfriend won’t leave New York and the Hamptons, and Craig won’t leave Carolinas, so guess they will eventually split.  Anyhow, I’m happy this show is back.

Cameran and Katherine have been gone for 2 seasons now. From last season, it looks like Olivia and Rod are gone. Fakest showmance I’ve ever seen.

Only OGs are Shep, Craig and Whitney. Austen is never leaving this show because this is his sole life purpose. He would fall into a huge depression if this show ever gets cancelled.

When I saw Molly, she looked so familiar to me, and I didn't recall from where, until this morning.

Molly was a charter guest on a season of Below Deck when they were in Thailand, I think?  She hooked up with Ashton (for those that don't watch BD - Ashton was a HUGE misogynistic asshole).

I guess the Bravolebrity desperation runs deep in some.

Oh, and yes, JT is so friggin' annoying!!  Again, desperate for psuedo fame and so jealous of Austen and Craig.  Not that there's anything about Austen to be envious of - he's another one that I cannot stand.

Actually, I don't really know why I'm still watching this at all, because I dislike most, if not all, of the cast, with the exception of Miss Patricia!

Most fireman don't make the kind of money that would allow for air travel to and from work every week, yes @kristen111, what the hell? Are we supposed to think he makes enough money to keep Madison happy?

I fell asleep around the half hour mark so I guess I have to go back a watch because I never saw Molly or Sally, I assume those are women and not some new pets aquired by Patricia.

Huh. Interesting that I remember Molly from way back on America's Next Top Model but I didn't recognize her from Below Deck which was far more recent. Thailand was hands down the absolute worst season of the Below Deck franchise so I quite Iikely repressed it.

She does look quite a bit different these days.

I didn't remember Molly from ANTM, but, yes, she definitely looks different.  I actually like the short hairstyle on her in this photo, than the long, stringy, thin hair she's sporting now.

I just remembered Ashton fawning all over Molly, - "she's a model!!!!" and vice-versa.  She was there as a guest of the lady that hired Kathryn as a stylist at that department store (Gwynn's-?) where Kathryn supposedly "worked" for a hot minute.

And, yes, the Thailand season was absolutely one of the worst BD seasons!!

But, I'm off topic here - I just want to know why Molly seems to be expressing an interest in Whitney, of all people!!  He's probably old enough to be her father!  Plus, as @Baltimore Bettynoted, he comes across as asexual to me.  When he does bring a "date" to a function, she's some wraith-like slip of girl with no personality and doesn't speak much that we see -  the date is always just some arm-candy, like the one he brought to this event.

Watching replays of Southern Hospitality and she was also on there. As well as what’s her names BF, Gaston. Bravo clearly just recycles anyone willing to make fools of themselves on tv.

And I may be the outlier, but I am here for watching JT call out these grownass wanna-be Jersey Shore men all day long. He says what I yell at my tv so I’m rooting for him. I wouldn’t want to hang out with him by any means, but I find him entertaining.

Way too much JT. He is annoying & not entertaining. He seems to think ppl like him because he talked trash about Austen but I dislike both him & Austen.

Austen & his gf. No thanks. Bleh to Pookie.

Craig is my fave. I also love Paige. Craig pulling away from a fucked up loser blackout Shep doesn’t seem that bad to me. Craig has done stuff in the past that’s for sure but if he’s trying to not drink & stay on a path hanging out with someone like Shep who likely prob pushes Craig to party is not a good idea.

Shep is basically taking no responsibility for his actions. I guess we will see if he’s different on the show.

Venita is still a snooze fest.

I don’t like Molly. The little dig about taking Craig from Paige was weird. She’s annoying too & I’m not buying she is so into Whitney. Does Whitney just hire this girls or get them on the show to keep up his facade that he’s some ladies man. Whitney needs to just come out already.

Taylor wasn’t horrible. When she isn’t involved in some annoying Austen storyline maybe she doesn’t suck? I guess we will see.

Yay no Olivia.

Overall I liked the episode.

I do not believe it for one minute, I think JT would be so exhausting to be around. Maybe it is something they cooked up to have things to film.

Yup couldn't roll my eyes hard enough.  Last season it was JT having a big thing for Taylor.

Taylor couldn't quit Shep, now she has a new bf, for now.

I thought it might have been more than one season since season 9 aired but no, they started around the same time in 2023 and finished the run in January.

Seems like several of them went on long trips and tried self-discovery or some sort of bullshit narrative.

That is unless season 9 was filmed like in 2022 instead of 2023.  I vaguely recall it might have been winter during that season whereas this must be in summer, with the lawn tents at the horse race and people wearing clothes for warmer weather.

This show, big part of it is dressing up.  You can tell it's unusual for at least some of them, because they're commenting on each others' clothes, including the men.  We're suppose to believe these people have good taste, that they chose and bought these clothes.  But for all we know, they have stylists who choose and acquire the clothes -- more like costumes -- at least for these events where they stress around similar theme or style to match the event.

More beards for Whitney.  At least get them who are closer in age to him, to make it believable.  His mother may be rich and he may be well off but it's not his looks which make him a magnet to younger women, if they are at all or this show is making it up.

Interesting, so more vets of other reality shows.  They've gone that route before.

Do they think an incestuous Bravoverse is appealing to viewers?  Probably it is, since they do a lot of crossovers and put some of them on several different shows all the time.

Taylor was used and dumped by Shep after going with him for awhile.  Olivia went with Austin, but not too long.  She has that jaw thing going on.

I love watching Patricia in her house.  I love, love her dinner parties and how she sets the table.  I want her China and all the doodads she puts on the table, lol.  Her bedroom is Devine.  I do miss her butler tho.  He used to drive her to McDonalds.

But how rich is Patricia?  I read her book which was interesting.  Living in New York and hobnobbing with the rich and famous in New York.  She was involved in the arts I think, but I think wasn’t appreciated, so moved to Carolina to be somebody.  She does have a good background in the arts tho.  Guess she couldn’t make it in New York so moved.

Venita started feeling sorry for JT last year. That's all. It's not convincing she is interested in him in any other way.

TJ thought the cane offer was a nice gesture to Patricia, but he was insulting her. He is that clueless.

Shep needs rehab, not exotic retreats (sorry, "self awareness" retreats).

It's obvious almost nobody associates with each other anymore off season, they only film together.

Taylor is still boring.

Whitney looks old (he is 56), and he dyes his hair. Molly is 36, she is too old for him. He likes women in their 20s- he had a couple of relationships, and I'm sure lots of hookups.

The men and women find their partners on social media, fans throw themselves at them, and I doubt it would happen if there were not on tv. Madison, Austen, Craig was sexting with Molly.

Another Southern Hospitality link- Taylor's new boyfriend was a roommate of a SH cast member.

Shep had me for 2 mins thinking maybe he had changed, then he started brow-beating Craig and Austen for not being there to call out his foolishness. So he just dried out for a few days and started working out again…

Didn't fool me, he's not ready to change. Craig called him on his BS when he reminded him that he heard about several additional Shep blackout nights in Charleston after his declaration at the reunion.

Keep in mind, S9 aired from September-January 2023. BravoCon was in November 2023. The reunion was filmed in early December. That's when Shep made the declaration that he was going to change and stop drinking hard liquor/taking shots after the BravoCon antics.

S10 began filming in March 2024 (the Carolina Cup was March 30th). So between December and March, Shep went to a Costa Rica trip psychedelic retreat and summoned his friends for a powwow session about his drinking problem. Yet he immediately carried on drinking publicly on King St and now Craig & Austin are terrible friends for not supporting him?

Finally, am I misremembering that Shep made a similar declaration at a previous reunion? He mocked a homeless person or something on insta live and blamed his drinking and promised to reel it in?

Shep is a narcissistic Peter Pan man-boy.  A 12 year-old boy in big boy pants.

He lectures others, makes sweeping declarations, deflects, yet cannot see his part in anything.

Yes, Craig had some rough years, but by gosh has he turned his life around.  He's now shopping in the Men's department, where Shep still wakes up at 2 pm and waits for mommy to mail his check.

I'm not convinced we're seeing completely accurate reflections of their personalities.  Remember, the incentives on these shows is to stir up drama.

"Holding each other accountable" and other attempts to have confrontational scenes can't really be trusted.

In the real world, there's still some level of civility and people hold back from getting into arguments.  Maybe with true friends, there's a greater willingness to criticize others publicly -- familiarity breeds contempt.

But how close are these people?  Are they regularly in contact when not filming?

Olivia = Longest-haired blonde, who show-dated Austen just enough to validate the bestie breakup with Taylor, = the shorter-haired blonde who had wearing second-skin leggings written into her contract. She (Taylor) also played the part of Shep's not-so-long-suffering girlfriend who show-hooked up with kissed Austen, thereby forcing a chasm in the show-bestie friendship with the afore-mentioned Olivia, and isn't nearly interesting enough to be on this disaster.

Whew! I'm exhausted.

JT - stop trying to make "fuck boy exorcism" a thing.  Yeah, it may have gotten a chuckle at the reunion but it doesn't need to go beyond that.

He had a girlfriend the entire time this sad, unbelievable, showmance with Venita was being concocted.  My question is whether Venita was in on this fact or not.

The level of Shep's family's wealth never ceases to surprise me.  The farm caretaker definitely treated him exactly like the rich son that he is.  And yet jobless mailbox money Shep feels it's his place to criticize Craig for wanting to protect and grow his business.  Good Lord.

It's amazing how Madison came on the scene kind of a low rent, foul mouthed, bully girl and now we're supposed to believe she's the leader of Charleston polite society.

The date Whitney brought to the races was positively lifeless, I would say so pale she was practically translucent, wan and disinterested to her surroundings and perfectly happy to stand in a corner till she was beckoned to the car, Whitney really should have paid a little more for a life like girl.

Patricia has got to have an idea that her 56 year old son is as they say in the south, "a confirmed bachelor."

What I would have given for Patricia or anyone who received a cane from JT to have whacked him with that cane.

And wow Madison is really a nasty person, she is just mean and says whatever she wants to whom ever, her husband does not see any of that? (I watched a lot of the marathon and I never realized how crappy a person she is until I saw it enmasse). Also, her husband is not that cute.

Shep is a mess, any change he makes will be short lived and Taylor needs to stay far away from him and I never really understood what happened to her last season, she went from a good Christian girl to sending Whitney (I think) nudes in bad lighting then Madison and the others started picking her apart.  Why would she want to film with them this season I will never know. Also, Gaston? Really? Gaston?

Seems Taylor will have sex with anyone.  I’m surprised with her.  How long will Gregg and Paige be together.  He won’t leave his business and Paige will never leave N.Y. City and the Hamptons.  I don’t blame her either.  Love downthe drain. Shep is and will be a lost cause.  Who will respect him?  Nobody.  They all are justfloatingaroundand drinking.  Not marriage material.  Drinking and screwing.

You mean Craig? I wouldn't worry about them. They've been together nearly three years and rarely go more than a few days apart. Until they have school-aged kids, having a home base in both cities is a luxury.

An admitted bias here, I hated Hannah on Summer House but love her with Paige in the Giggly Squad. Actually went to the live show (Caesars Windsor) with some friends over the weekend. My face still hurts from laughing.

Switching gears, Shep's ego is OOC. I'm with Taylor on this one: https://www.bravotv.com/the-daily-dish/taylor-ann-green-reacts-shep-rose-family-comments

Maybe I've been listening to Watch What Crappens too much but every time Whitney brings a "girlfriend", date, female friend onto the show I get a serious case of the skeevies!  This thing with Molly just bugs me to no end and I'm getting flashbacks of when Naomi and Whit were supposedly an item.  🤢

I just hope BOTH parties are in an agreement here and these women aren't being forced into a situation they're uncomfortable with.

I doubt they are uncomfortable. They want to be with the son of a prominent family and to be on tv.
