Galileo908 December 3 Author Share December 3 (edited) The Vamily! Of course Monster gets to go to The Baron's event but not Guillermo. And he's the one that kills Jerry. And OF COURSE Baron knew he was walking into a trap because HE wanted to kill Jerry! It couldn't have been more obvious that this was a Warriors parody that Colin had to actually say it. And then Baseball Furies showed up. Loved the 80s breakdancing vampires (laughed at Colin saying they were either Fame the movie vampires or Fame the tv show vampires). I loved all the cliques, like the Christian Schoolgirl group, and the TSA workers (pretty sure they're energy vampires). Oof, Nandor got friendzoned by The Guide. But she definitely had him down: Nandor is about the conquest, not the victory. And he never relents. When Laszlo got grabbed by the graveyard vampires, he says "you know your judo well!" So that's two weeks in a row for Succulent Chinese Meal references in this show. So Miguel knows about the vampires now? And he's got Van Helsing blood? There was nothing in the episode that reset that. But real good to know that Guillermo hasn't lost his touch. NEXT WEEK CAN'T BE THE LAST ONE. Okay, apparently there's two more left. "One episode left before the finale" is just real confusing. Lantern7 December 3 Share December 3 (edited) RIP Jerry the Vampire. If your friends had woke you in 1996 like you wanted . . . fuck it, you’d still get killed sooner rather than later. The quote is “Come out to play.” Just wanted to get that out of my system. I thought it was “Come out and play” for, like, ever. Decent episode, even if the parody/homage was too obvious. Then again, in the original source material, the Warriors didn’t get in trouble when a patchwork monster squeezed Cyrus’s head until its palms met, so maybe I shouldn’t be pedantic. Hey, the Guide had more than one scene! And she was good! She was right about Nandor’s need for conquest in love. 14 minutes ago, Galileo908 said: So Miguel knows about the vampires now? And he's got Van Helsing blood? There was nothing in the episode that reset that. Meh. Vampire hypnosis waves that away. I’m hoping Guillermo gets to walk away from vampire life and makes living, breathing friends when the season wraps up. 14 minutes ago, Galileo908 said: NEXT WEEK CAN'T BE THE LAST ONE. The teaser voice said “one more episode until the series finale,” so I guess the end will come in two weeks. ETA: Reading the AV Club review. Forgot the Baron mentioned the train on Staten Island. It’s just the one, but it comes in handy for me. Oh, and the Hellhound returned! iMonrey December 3 Share December 3 (edited) OMG. This is going to go down as a classic episode. But I think you have to be familiar with The Warriors to fully appreciate it. I had a friend who was obsessed with that movie back in the day, I must have sat through it at least half a dozen times. And now I'm glad I did. All the references were on point. Especially the baseball vampires. And then . . . the cameo by Alexander Skarsgard. Reprising his role from True Blood. I DIED. Loved the part the Monster had to play as well. Sheer perfection. thuganomics85 December 3 Share December 3 That totally was Alexander Skarsgard at the end! Don't think they had any of the main folks from True Blood on here yet, so that was a great bit. I guess they just need to get someone from Twilight and The Vampire Diaries to pop up and I think they will complete the set! I was actually kind of wondering if Jerry was going to try and stage a coup against The Baron since he probably wouldn't be happy over all of the delays with the whole "taking over America" plan they originally had. What I didn't expect was that Laszlo's monster was just going to pop out of nowhere and literally rip his head clean off. All because Laszlo created him to protect Nadja and Jerry made the mistake of getting hostile towards here on stage. Whoops! Granted, Nadja is right that she can protect herself and it isn't really needed, but Laszlo's devotion towards her continues to be one of his more positive traits in the grand scheme of things. All of that leading to a full-blown Warriors parody was a hoot as expected. Loved all of the weird vampire groups they dealt with like breakdancing vampires, graveyard vampires (which are basically zombies from what i can tell), TSA vampires (go figure), Boarding School Vampire Teenagers whose social media skills are just as deadly as their normal vampire skills, and, of course, Vampire Baristas, who aren't actually Vampire Baristas but just struggling writers, graphic designers, etc. The whole gang is here! RIP, Cameraman. Really hope we find out what this documentary really is and that his and others sacrifices will not be vain! Fun seeing Miguel again. Doug Jones continues to be perfection as The Baron. Can't believe we only have two episodes left. I will miss this gang and all the silliness, violence, and insanity that comes with them! 8 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150924-s06e09-come-out-and-play/#findComment-8523442

Blakeston December 3 Share December 3 My best recollection is that Guillermo's grandmother had heard stories about her family killing evil creatures who drink blood, but it wasn't clear if the rest of the family knew that, and I don't recall anyone in the family knowing specifically that they were Van Helsings. If Guillermo told them the day he introduced Nadja to them, they wouldn't remember, because they were all hypnotized. MisterGlass December 5 Share December 5 (edited) Nadja and Laslo continue to have the best matching couples costumes. A great episode in general for the costume department from the Baron's white on white outfit to the vampire MTV spaceman. Colin Robinson showed once again why he is a top tier energy vampire by licking whipped cream out of a dome lid on an iced coffee. When the zombie vampires killed the cameraman, WWDITS A_CAM flashed on the camera screen as it failed. By the way, we've answered the question from a few shows ago about whether Guillermo has retained his van Helsing powers after having been a vampire. So I think I was correct when I posited that van Helsing powers only come into play against conventional vampires, and not energy vampires (which is how Colin Robinson could punch Guillermo twice.) 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150924-s06e09-come-out-and-play/#findComment-8525101

Orbert December 5 Share December 5 (edited) I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who's never seen The Warriors, or True Blood for that matter, so any references were lost on me. But I still enjoyed the episode a lot. The description only mentioned that they get blamed for a murder; obviously they withheld the fact it was was Jerry, and I'm glad because wow, that was pretty brutal. I didn't really care about Jerry at first, and he's mostly been absent since his introduction, but when he started his little tirade about The Baron, though, I was pissed. But fortunately Cravensworth's Monster took care of that for us. I was kinda wondering how the Jerry storyline would conclude, if at all. It seemed weird to introduce someone during the final season who's "been there all along" but the explanation was good enough for me, and now he's gone, so... good! I can understand why The Baron was pissed about not getting to kill Jerry himself, but life is full of disappointments. Nice conclusion regarding Nandor and The Guide, too. Pretty much the only way it could've gone, but she did try to let him down gently. Interesting how the "family" (or "vamily") theme came up with regard to Guillermo. Miguel really was just concerned, and what might be seen as teasing or even borderline bullying was just how he expressed himself. They're family; there was never any mean spirit to it and he definitely had Guillermo's back. Contrast that with the "vamily" once again excluding Guillermo, and even bringing along The Monster to rub it in. I've ranted before about how badly they treat Guillermo, and we got to see it again. I wonder how that will be resolved, or even addressed, in the next two episodes. There's a lot to tie up. Featherhat December 17 Share December 17 That was a lot of fun. I'm glad Doug Jones got an episode to shine. After a career spent mostly being first one on set and last one off because of make up it is nice that you get to (sort of) see his actual face and how great he is without prosthetics as well as with them. I figured it was a trap when Nandor exposited that it was an award he'd never heard of. Of course the Baron knew it was a trap and just wanted to kill Jerry himself and now he's had to be out two nights in a row and The Sire will be annoyed because he's been stuck looking after the kids by himself. Interesting though that Jerry went into his Super Slumber in 1976 when allegedly the "plan" to conquer the new world (still after 200 years) was supposed to be in full swing but the Baron didn't get there until 2018 and abandoned those plans pretty quickly. Perhaps Jerry just needed a night on the town? I've never seen Warriors but I did enjoy it. Loved seeing all the different "types" of Vampires and how easily they just refered to each clique/geographical area as their own separate thing. The Guide was right about it being hard to break into a new group. I knew the Van Helsing blood was going to come back up once Miguel joined the fray, that was fun. I mean, I get his family's point that Guillermo has barely been around the last 16 years and how he runs out whenever he does visit. They have a right to be upset and concerned about that. However I hate "it's just how I express myself!/We're Family!" as a defence against what Miguel was doing when Gizmo expressed several times that he doesn't like it and doesn't think it's bonding. I've been on the end of it and it's not fun and it doesn't feel great when everyone is telling you "No big deal" just because you ask someone to stop "playfully" attacking you or teasing you about vulnerable subject. So Miguel can kick rocks for that, it was shitty but good for him for wanting to back up Guillermo when he thought he was about to head into a dangerous situation. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150924-s06e09-come-out-and-play/#findComment-8535040
Orbert December 17 Share December 17 (edited) Oh, Miguel is still an ass for acting that way. When someone asks you, then tells you, to stop, you should stop, not continue and insist that it's okay because it's all in fun. I was just concerned when Guillermo was wondering why Miguel wanted to get together if he really didn't like Guillermo. Guillermo wasn't having any fun, and Miguel was being an ass, but I guess my point is that it still wasn't meant with ill intent. I'm glad that he came through for Guillermo when things got rough. Maybe that was the whole point of bringing him back, just so Guillermo had some backup. And it did provide an interesting contrast to the "vamily" that basically only called on him because they needed something.
