I keep trying to imagine what kind of people hear/read this gobbledegook & think, "Thank you, Mr President!"  He is definitely looking old, slumped in his chair at meetings, hunched over while walking, babbling even more inanities than his first term. 

P.S. Didn't anyone get a photo of Garcia's knuckles while Sen. Van Hollen was sitting at a table with him??? The Democrats could frame the photo & present to His Lowness. He sure looked & sounded pathetic in his interview with ABC's Terry Moran, insisting on a gang tattoo on Garcia's knuckles.

The elimination of the National Institutes of Health’s role in the program, which helped slash infant deaths in the 2000s, comes at a time when sleep-related deaths among infants have increased. Sudden infant death rates were up nearly 12% between 2020 and 2022, according to the most recent data in a study published in JAMA Pediatrics. 

“The elimination of this department is absolutely devastating as the rates of sudden unexpected infant death have begun to climb once again,” Alison Jacobson, the CEO of First Candle, a nonprofit organization that worked with the federal government on Safe to Sleep, said in an email.

My BIL was born in US;  is half Mexican, half Italian, both parents also born here.

He has criticized incoming Mexicans in the US for the 40 years I've known him, not just recently, but is otherwise apolitical. 

I never got the turn on his ethnic group (half anyways).

His son, my nephew is bigly maga, as is my youngest sister,  his mother.  I get it, but I still don't  get the  logic. 

Are there stats on Latino voters for Repubs or Dems?

@tearknee I assume you're quoting my post about my issues with certain groups telling people from my background and other "ethnic" (i.e. non-Anglo Protestant/Anglo Protestant adjacent) backgrounds how to feel/think?  I honestly have no clue what your comment has to do with it. 

Sorry, i tend to ramble when i'm ill or stressed or something bad has happened to me in RL.

Just...why!? Federal NIH funding for research matters for the health of your family! Everyone should be appalled by these shocking NIH funding cuts proposed by this administration. The funding contributed to the development of over 99% of medications approved from 2010-2019 in the US. Many, if not most, medications would NOT have been developed by private industry without some federal funding spearheading the beginning of the research, because financial risks are particularly high at the beginning when most medication development fails. And treatment of some diseases, like rare diseases, does not bring financial windfalls for Big Pharma.

There used to be a time when world leaders would convene and fund the fight against diseases around the world for the benefit of humanity.

Smdh - how far we've fallen..

The students refused to listen to the aging patriarch. A witness later wrote, "His lips moved—he essayed to speak—burst into tears & sank back into his seat!—The shock was electric!"

Jefferson called the student riot "the most painful event of my life."

If Jefferson were alive today, he would weep for Charlottesville. He would weep for the lost promises of our republic.

He would weep for America.

The tattoo symbols were not. The photoshop of MS 13 was done to show the definition of the symbols, which are very similar to how the teardrop is defined.

Yes, we do, don't we?

Considering that Thomas Jefferson was the main author of the Declaration of Independence and how emotional he could get at times, he would definitely weep over this. Trump's obvious ignorance of its significance is frightening and astounding, especially for a president. As an American I think I'd have to go back to 1st or 2nd grade not to know the significance of that document.

I wonder if his base still supports him because in for a penny in for a pound or do they really believe in what he is doing.  For all these white people who think oh it's going to be great we are going to be in charge they might need a reality check.  Rich white people will be in charge.  And not just any rich white people.  Millionaires aren't good enough anymore.  It's going to be the billionaires.

And this military parade gaudy Trump birthday celebration is going to be such an epic failure.  Oh it will probably happen but it's going to be such an embarrassment.  Him and his family and Musk will probably show up for this, sitting on some grandstand or something. Maybe it will be like Animal House and something will crash into it sending them all flying.

This is one of Trump's biggest flaws, of which there are many. He will never admit he is wrong.  He altered the projected path of a Hurricane so as not to appear wrong. And he rarely admits  he doesn't know something, unless of course when it's something he doesn't want to know as to avoid blame.  The man isn't only superbly dumb but he thinks he is a genius.  He will go to his grave (can't come soon enough) thinking he really was the smartest man ever.

None of this is legal. As always Congress has the power of the purse. Although the Reps in Congress seemed to have been not only neutered but castrated.  And I'm pretty sure he can't single out someone and revoke their tax exempt status just because he wants to.

It is extremely difficult to revoke tax exempt status when the other party has the money to fight it. It's not something Trump can wave his magic wand to change, oh I mean craft and sign an executive order. If this was the case, then the Church of Scientology would have had their tax exempt status revoked years ago.

Narcissism is a compensation for crushingly low self esteem.  If it is any comfort he never thinks he is good enough and everyone must be below him and tell him he is right constantly or he will lose it. This is why he gets worse and worse as people feed into it more and more. Is this a comfort?

Same. Marco and anyone else who accepted Trump's invitation to be a part of his cabinet believe in the same things as Trump. It does not matter to me if Marco does not 100% back Trump. He apparently agrees with him enough to want to support him in whatever capacity.

As so many of us have already said "I was just following orders" isn't going to cut it. At least not on the world stage.  But even here once Trump is finally dead and buried I hope all of his enablers are shunned and never serve another day in shape or form as part of our government.  Hopefully some of them are serving time.  You know there are things going on we don't know about.
