You know how you tell a friend if they have spinach stuck in their teeth? Or their slip is showing? (does anyone wear slips anymore?)

Well, USA, you have spinach in your teeth, and your slip is showing.

p.s. Canada is NOT considering. *insert JellyRoll's "You ain't nothin' but a Liar" song*

Perhaps tRump doesn't understand the word, NO. (Oh right... when a woman says no, he just rapes her... and he tries to do the same with everything and everyone who rejects him. What a waste yuck of human flesh. I still think he must be an alien.)

Trust me they know. And if you told most of those people they have spinach in their teeth they'd show up the next day with a bumper sticker on their truck saying "proud to have spinach in my teeth."

I'm assuming it has to do with the anti-Trans protests happening outside Seattle City Hall that started at Cal Anderson park on Saturday.  For those unfamiliar, CA park is in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, which has a very LGBTQ+ friendly history.

Anyway these douches moved their protest to city hall and are being protected by SPD, who are also blocking counter protesters.

Seattle is a fairly progressive city, as much as we can be considering we're also Amazon's mothership, and most of these people travelled from Eastern Washington and Idaho.

@peacheslatour - what's the context of that photo?

Community organizations and activists took to Cal Anderson Park on Saturday to counter Mayday USA's event, which they call a "well-funded anti-trans, anti-queer event that is led by far-right Christian activists."

"Attacks of this kind need to be met with protest every time." Freedom Socialist Party Leader Doreen McGrath

Organizers of the counterprotest brought signs and banners to the picket line to demonstrate the following action items listed in a press release ahead of the Mayday USA event:

Stop the war on trans and queer folk.

Empower youth to speak, define and defend themselves.

Defend bodily autonomy and abortion rights.

Stand against the racist Christian identity movement.

Defeat Trump, Musk and Project 2025.

I’m hanging here choking on those pardons. And what he is doing to schools in the US. He will make the US The opposite of great. He has made a good start. That he is unable to understand how people will react is a real concern. He does not understand what he is breaking.

Yeah, I can't mentally wrap my mind around that either and I am a theist and a Christian. Just not that kind. In many ways philosophically I am much more like an atheist or an agnostic than I am like a fundamentalist and/or Calvinist Christian. That's how opposed to the way I am (and the form of Christianity I follow) they are.

I think that humanism separates a belief in a god or gods from the idea of ethics and morality. I think the issues that all of the Christian sects have with sexual predation underscore this. A belief in a god does not make you a good person. You may be a good person who believes in a god.

In a new genius move from the top medical and scientific brainiac Jr he has called JAMA, The New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet corrupt and is thinking of barring government scientists (do they still exist?) from publishing in them

He plans to create in-house journals to publish NIH research (LOL) unless the journals change dramatically (🤔 sounds familiar) the medical journals were established in the 19th century and are globally recognized but Jr says they have been “corrupted by the pharmaceutical industry” and wants state run medical journals (oh just like everything else)

How far would the pardons go? Would all of their crimes be expunged?

And Whitmer is a Democrat.  According to Trump that makes her scum.

If he keeps pardoning people simply because they are supporters it's just a matter of time before someone does something really bad thinking Trump will pardon them. And they would probably be right to think that.

From Director John Jacobsen's FB, a lovely tribute to what the Kennedy Center and White House were, and a lamentation on what they have become. I've edited for brevity but the entire post is well worth the read.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CReyMALRT/

The Kennedy Center Honors every year held a formal dinner at the White House, attended by the president who would personally thank each artist and give them the award. It wasn’t just a ceremony. It was a national thank you. A reminder that art is not ornamental—it is foundational. It heals, provokes, connects. It gives voice to the voiceless, and form to the formless. And the White House—no matter who lived there—was meant to be a beacon of that shared cultural spirit.

Not anymore.

There is no art in this White House. For a rich New Yorker, he is unusual in his avoidance of art-collecting. Not surprisingly, art about Trump appears to be the only kind that interests the president.

Thus, no poetry readings. No music. No jazz reverberating off the Resolute Desk. No schoolchildren’s drawings pinned proudly in the hallways. No Kennedy Center Honorees embraced by the president with reverence and joy and honor.

There are no pets. No dogs lying faithfully at a leader’s feet. No cats curled in sunbeams by the East Wing windows. No signs of gentleness. The only animal instinct left in this place is cruelty. And I don’t even think that is an animal instinct; that is uniquely human instinct.

There is no joy. No footage of the Obamas laughing on the beach. No Bushes fishing with grandkids. No Reagans on horseback. No Kennedys tossing footballs barefoot in Hyannis Port. Just Trump, alone on a golf course, always wearing the same red tie, a man so allergic to warmth he can’t even pretend to hold a grandchild.

No spontaneous moments of tenderness. No First Lady planting a garden. In fact, Melania Trump ripped out the historic Rose Garden. She bulldozed Jackie Kennedy’s living tribute to grace and growth and replaced it with sterile symmetry and stone.

Roses—symbols of beauty, of love, of fragility and remembrance—were torn from the ground like they meant nothing. It was the perfect metaphor for this administration: take what is tender and meaningful, and erase it to make space for loyalty and domination.

Tear up roses. Pave over decency. Sterilize the soul of the nation.

There are no schoolchildren visiting for science fairs or holiday concerts. No artists honored. No laughter, unless it’s cruel at the expense of people they grab off the streets and deport without record to a life of true misery and torture.

The White House, hiding behind the cross, has become a fortress of bitterness, filled with men who fire people, punish critics, and serve only the rich. Here, families are separated. Whistleblowers are silenced. The sick are mocked. The poor are disposable. The powerful are immune. A Bible is held upside down while tear gas clears the streets.

What once was the “People’s House” now belongs to a man, and woman, who can’t stand the people.

  • [BRENDA TO WOMAN SHE IS MANIPULATING TO CONFESS TO MURDERING HER HUSBAND] Who could blame you?
Razi was treating you like a prisoner.
He was taking you back to Iran.

  • [WOMAN] He wasn't sending me back to Iran!

The Clinton's marriage as well as the Obama's marriage has been analyzed to death.  Michelle doesn't show up to a couple of things with her husband and people had them on the verge of divorce.  But Melania is effectively abdicating her role as First Lady and nobody bats an eye.

Starting Wednesday at 1pm EST today and lasting for 100 straight hours (until Sunday), climate and weather specialists will spend 15 minutes each talking about their work and why it is so valuable for the American people. This is in the face of steep funding cuts for climate, weather research and forecasting. I applaud scientists finding a new way of engaging the public and making the case to preserve their budgets with livestreamed presentations.

You can learn more about the project and their goals here.

And right in time for hurricane season too - I love it!

Stepping in to provide a partial answer to your question that I'm surmising was why Canadians wd be so interested in American politics, although I think if you thought about it for 1 minute, you wd already figure out the answer. But here goes.

Canada is our friendly, strong NEIGHBOR and ALLY (so far). People from both countries stream across the borders every day, or used to) fur work, vacations, shopping,  and visiting relatives and friends. I've been the 3x and do not live near there, but my dad had old time friends to visit.  (Yes,  I'm American, but don't hold it against me in answering your question ;).......)

The US has been the guardian of WORLD democracy (small d) and ethical morality based on the American Constitution, offering hope for oppressed countries and peoples.

The American president was a world leader influencing INTERNATIONAL politics and economics.

Nothing exists in a vacuum. We are all  affected or affect others and other events by our actions or inaction much more so when it happens closer to home.

Remember the "bystander" episode from Seinfeld?

I know you know all  this deep down inside.

Maybe stop a sec and consider gratitude for the watchfulness and caring of our Canadian posters towards us. Noting that they see and hear our fear and anger about the ridiculous, unnecessary chaos imposed by the current administration on the country we love.

And I pray that they remain steadfast by our side, no matter what in the future.

Hear , hear. I am incredibly grateful to our world allies for all the support they've shown us over the years, and I continue to apologize on behalf of my dumbass government for all the fuckups they're causing around the world right now. I am happy to have posters from other parts of the world here to offer their support for those of us who have to deal with this insanity, and who can offer a view from the outside. Lord knows our country is certainly happy to stick its nose in everyone else's business, after all, whether they want it or not, so you guys have certainly more than earned your right to have an opinion on how we're doing things here in turn.

Many use a prime minister though where the head of the government isn't even directly voted for or elected. It's agreed on by the other lesser representatives.

The EC isn't perfect but at least we get a direct vote in some fashion.

I don't know how it used to be but in modern times, the parties announce their candidates beforehand. So, while the voters may vote for the party, they know who the prime minister or chancellor will be depending on which party gets the most votes (and, in some cases, manages to form a coalition).

To me, it doesn't make much difference if I vote for an elector who will then cast a vote on my behalf for a candidate or if I vote for a government representative who then casts a vote on my behalf.
(While electors now have to pay a fine, they can even cast their vote for a different candidate if they choose to (which, if memory serves, happened in 2016, ironically, to Clinton and not Trump. (Although, generally speaking, it doesn't bother me that there's the possibility to do that. As far as I know, the Framers wanted that option as a safeguard for democracy and there are situations when I'd want my representatitve, whether they're government representatives or electors, to use the tools they were given to do just that. It's kind of what I expect of them and I'm more bothered by it when they don't do it. But I digress))).

As things stand currently, I prefer the European set up for general elections mostly because every vote counts and parties/candidates get elected according to who gets the most votes, period.
However, for the nominating process, I prefer the US method because primaries allow me to have a say in who becomes a candidate.

This makes me smile:

Those attending the June 14 celebration honoring Pope Leo XIV at Rate Field in Chicago will hear directly from the new pontiff.

The Archdiocese of Chicago announced that recently installed Pope Leo will deliver a “special video message” to the world’s youth at the event at the Chicago White Sox’s home stadium.

The celebration will also include a Mass, music, a film, and in-person testimonials about Pope Leo XIV, a South Side native and lifelong White Sox fan.

The public is invited to attend the upcoming “celebration of the election of Pope Leo XIV, the first pope born and raised in the Chicago area.”

The event is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. on June 14 with Mass at 4 p.m. Gates open at 12:30 p.m., according to the archdiocese.…

Donny's birthday bash isn't the only event that day.
Although my wanting to see how upset it makes him might be a character flaw, I wonder if the Pontiff might be doing a few Hail Marys to keep from being gleeful over someone's unhappiness. 😉🥰
(If that's how Hail Marys work?)

Wall Street has a new nickname for Durr Fuhrer.

President Donald Trump exploded at a reporter who asked him about the latest Wall Street nickname for his tariff chaos.

Trump responded angrily toward a reporter in the White House after she told him that Wall Street investors are using a new acronym, TACO, to describe the ongoing tariff turmoil caused by Trump. The acronym stands for “Trump Always Chickens Out” and was reportedly coined by a Financial Times columnist.

“Wall Street analysts have coined a new term called the TACO trade. They’re saying Trump always chickens out on your tariff threats. And that’s why markets are higher this week. What’s your response to that?” a reporter asked Trump on Wednesday.

Trump said he had never heard of the term before lashing out at the reporter.

“Is it because I reduced China from 145% that I set down to 100%? And then down to another number?” Trump responded. “And because I gave the European Union a 50% tax tariff? And they called up and they said, ‘Please, let’s meet right now, please, let’s meet right now.’ And I said, ‘OK, I’ll give you till June 9th.’”

“I actually asked them, I said, ‘What’s the date?’. Because they weren’t willing to meet. And after I did what I did, they said, ‘We’ll meet any time you want.’ And we have an end date of July 9th. You call that chickening out?” he added.

He continued by criticizing former President Joe Biden and saying that the country was “dying” under him before he exploded at a reporter.

“But don’t ever say what you said. That’s a nasty question. To me, that’s the nastiest question,” Trump said

MCI (stage 4) and early stage 5 perceptions start being off, executive function starts failing, vocabulary and reasoning skills fade, and so it goes. If he were Joe Citizen, we'd be talking about pulling his driving privileges and interviewing caregivers. Having staff will delay many of the manifestations regular people display.  He always has someone around him when he's up moving around so getting lost or wandering off aren't going to happen.  He doesn't have to cook, drive, do laundry, pay bills, or any other task that would display the most likely problems.
