KittyQ October 21 Share October 21 Whoopi is a master of making invalid comparisons. She says that "people" are ok with telling her what to do with her body, so they should be ok with gun regulation. It is a jump to assume that these are the same "people" - there is probably some overlap, but this is an overgeneralization, even without going into details of what the regulation would entail. Walz seems like a personable guy, but his response about Elon Musk's plan to give a million dollars to people who sign a petition was off track. Musk doesn't have to have plans for climate control, etc. He's not the candidate. He's just trying to get petitions signed. The prize money does seem problematic, though, and I think that is what Walz should have focused on. Also, as Ana pointed out, there doesn't seem to be any guarantee or requirement that anyone signing this petition will actually go on to vote for Trump (which I think is the overall intention). 3 Link to comment

Buckeye71034 October 21 Share October 21 (edited) leaving the politics aside....it was simply inappropriate and childish for Whoopi (the moderator) to attempt to interrupt Alyssa multiple times when she mentioned the ABC Poll.... Just because you do not like polling, does not mean you should be disrespectful to your co-host like that. Take it up with Brian or Alyssa in the morning (though I do not think Whoopi always attends the morning meeting). Even if you agree with Whoopi's frustration of the question, she would go ballistic if Alyssa did that to her. Edited October 21 by Buckeye71034 10 Link to comment

Only registered voters in Pennsylvania are eligible to win this strange lottery. Today (Oct. 21) is the deadline for new registrations in Pennsylvania. The scheme was only announced on Saturday, and the deadline to register is today, so it's doubtful many new people were able register. It's more likely that Musk is collecting names and contact info for voter influence and/or a get-out-the vote drive. The petition is in support of freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. I doubt the petition itself will be submitted to any entity. The prize drawing makes this a lottery to identify voters who support Musk and/or Trump but may not show up on donor lists or other campaign files. It's not legal to pay someone to register to vote. Is it legal to make voter eligibility a requirement for this lottery? Skating on the edge of legality is a specialty of Trump. [Edit - just heard Musk has opened the lottery to one registered voter in any of the seven swing states, daily.] Edited October 22 by Sue in her 60s 2 4 Link to comment

I agree that too many times poll results are given without any context, so they appear to represent a wide number of opinions, but they don't represent the opinions of everyone, or even everyone of a particular demographic. Maybe the View people should report poll results with some kind of disclaimer, to at least keep her from ranting about them every time. 1 Link to comment
Haleth October 22 Share October 22 Or at least do enough research to be able to state the sample size and the question asked. A lot of times the polls they cite have only asked 400 or so people and often the question is worded in a way to get the response the pollsters want. I saw a news segment the other day about polling. The reporter was talking to employees who do the phoning and they said these days it's hard to get people to answer the phone to participate. So maybe the respondents skew older? Younger people aren't going to take the time to answer their phones. Working people don't have time. So they end up with a lot of retirees? 9 Link to comment

TheGreenKnight October 24 Share October 24 Yay, a day without Alyssa and her hyper-speak attempts to curb all discussion, how refreshing! Reminds me that season 25 had been the best season, when it was just these four and Ana. I suppose, depending what happens next month, Alyssa's 5 minutes will diminish much like MM's did following 2020 and they'll be on to the next one. Or Ana may be able to be more like she was in 2015 and that will fill the quota. Speaking of Ana, loved her on Monday during the McDonald's topic--"Would you like lies with that?" And good for Whoopi pointing out how illogical it is the way there is more concern over protecting the rights of objects like guns than for human beings and their bodies. 7 Link to comment

Sarah was trying to make a point about Kamala Harris and all I could hear was Joy trying to make funnies & then Sunny telling her she was wrong over & over, just STFU & let her say her piece, I'm sure there are millions who feel the same as she does (rightly or wrongly) so give her a chance to speak FFS. And the piece where that woman said she didn't want to hear the candidates being mean to each other or whatever she said & the first thing we get from the women (not sure who as I was so angry with Joy by then) is "well Trump started it", how fucking old are they? 5? The point the woman was making, as I understand it, was that the focus on the name calling and insulting comments between the candidates makes it hard to hear their actual plans and policies which voters should want to hear about when choosing who to vote for. My impression is that she doesn't see this choice as obvious as the panel thinks it should be because there are pros and cons to both candidates but the name calling obscures the meaningful differences. The panel acts as though everyone should automatically agree with their choices. 2 1 Link to comment
Mollywolly555 October 24 Share October 24 I have read articles online almost every day that Trump's team wants him to speak more about economy, border, etc., but he insists on playing to his maga base wth the name calling, insults, same old shit. Why is it the hosts aren't as well informed or well read? Or can substantiate polls wth background info on who, how many, what part of country, etc., the responses were polled? Or just stop repeating news stories from a few days ago? Talk up the good economy more often or how it isn't gov run. Educate people. Talk up the Repub supporters of Kamala. I'm fed up with Trump's demented craziness. I kind of agree that I'm tired of the jokes from any tv person not just Joy. I am worried about this election and the aftermath. 4 Link to comment

TheGreenKnight October 24 Share October 24 I think comedy is the only antidote to the darkness being purposefully forced on the public these days. There are those who want people to feel hopeless, ground down, and exhausted by the cruelty on display. I believe that's what Joy mentioned earlier this week as to why Trump targets comedians; if you can take away people's sense of joy, you have much more power over them. Walz was right when he talked about the purpose of being a "joyful warrior" in the midst of all that's happening. 9 6 2 Link to comment

That woman had unreasonable expectations of what the government can do for her and therefore her comments blaming Kamala for her problems came off as whiny and totally realistic and definitely not a Kamala supporter. And she obviously hasn't been listening to the speeches and rallies and townhalls for the last three months. Kamila hasn't been 'namecalling'. She's been quoting various Republican officials who have facts on their side and proof that Trump is losing it and IS a fascist and definitely isn't capable of being the US president. Trump is the "namecaller". It's absolutely disgusting what he's been calling Kamela at his rallies and events. The insults he's throwing at her are vile and ugly and racist and misogynistic and that woman perched on the stage and called their behaviour equal when it absolutely isn't. She's a Trumper through and through. 10 2 5 Link to comment
Haleth October 25 Share October 25 (edited) Can they address the fact that Fox isn’t covering the crazy stuff? Their viewers aren’t hearing things the rest of us are. Christie is still an ass. Why didn’t the panel ask him how to get the message to undecided voters who still say they don’t know Kamala? What more does she have to do that she hasn’t been doing for months? Give each one a meet and greet? Clearly they haven’t been listening. Bipartisan government and compromise? Does he really think McConnell or Johnson will have any interest in doing that if either leads a house of Congress? Yeah, good luck with that. Biden couldn’t do it and he was friends with these people. Edited October 25 by Haleth 12 3 Link to comment
KittyQ October 25 Share October 25 Christie said what the panel just doesn't want to hear: many undecided voters aren't choosing between Trump and Harris; it is whether to vote for Harris or nobody. They already know Trump and while many people don't want him again, they still aren't confident that Harris will be a better choice - kind of the devil you know vs. the devil you don't. That's why Christie was saying that she has to keep working on it right up to the election, to "close" those who are undecided. If they can't bring themselves to vote for Harris, some people won't vote for the office at all, or might write in someone they would prefer, which could hand Trump the election. (Of course, some people will vote "not Trump" aka Harris, but it isn't a given that every undecided person will do that, and if Harris says or does something really dumb or off-putting between now and Election Day, they might decide to go for the devil they know, after all.) 3 Link to comment

I respect Republicans who do not agree with everything she says or believes, but they are generally horrified by the thought of him getting back into office and will vote for her.
