ams1001 Tuesday at 12:28 AM Share Tuesday at 12:28 AM January 27: 60% / 60% / 59% Bleh. In J I missed one in "CH" and Broken, two in Lakes and Special Days, three in Game Time and Hell's Kitchen the Musical. In DJ I missed one in It's Got a Motor, two in Culture in Agriculture, Weak, Literary Characters, and Celebrity Memoirs, and three in That Happened. Didn't get FJ. But neither did they, so. TSes: (J had 6 + the DD; DJ had 6) I got Poconos (DD), Girl on Fire, and Bossypants. I was rooting for Alison but I like Will, too, so I'm happy for him. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/31/#findComment-8565488
Katy M Tuesday at 12:34 AM Share Tuesday at 12:34 AM I knew there was no way Reykjavik had 400k people, so I went the other end and said Wellington, but I was in no way confident of my answer, not sure that Wellington had that many. I do think Reykjavik was a bad guess just because I know that the bulk of the border between Canada and the US is at the 49th parallel. And Iceland is quite north of that. Google tells me Reykjavik is at 64 degrees north. Having said that, I would have guessed Wellington was much further south than 41 degrees. Bastet Tuesday at 03:34 AM Share Tuesday at 03:34 AM (edited) Dammit! I was rooting for Alison. At least Rishabh didn't win; I'm still salty about them giving him credit for that FJ answer of gibberish that when translated to actual letters most closely resembled "Cudumlaq", not "Columbia". I missed three in games, but if not for that I'd have kicked ass in the first round; I only missed two more in the entire round (spring in days and chador in "ch"). DJ wasn't great, but not terrible. I only ran motor, but I almost got there in weak and memoirs, getting all but puny and Bossypants, respectively. I missed three in agriculture and two each in the rest. I got FJ as a guess I was fairly confident in. Bring on the abbreviations: Getting a FJ that's a TS in the ToC is PDC (pretty damn cool). I was rooting for Allison from the start. Will further annoyed me with his haphazard guesses. (The Harlem district? Why, because she’s a Black woman?) And Rishabh, with whatever showboating answer turned out to be wrong. Too much, both of them. While it’s a shame that Alicia Keys songs were met with a bunch of blank stares, I was surprised that “Empire State of Mind” was the highest value clue in that category. It’s probably her most famous song. To the surprise of no one, I did not get the geography FJ. I, too, went north and planted my flag in the decidedly NOT 40 latitude of Oslo. I sympathized with her sigh of frustration at the end of DJ, because I saw her unsuccessfully try to ring in a number of times. I don't remember the other guy at all. I did not know a single movie. I was almost as bad in 3 of a kind -- I missed three, but it would have been four if not for hyoid as I didn't recognize the other two bones. Lettuce was the only clue where I knew all three kinds listed. Not a good first round. I only ran parts of speech, although I did get all but whoopie pie in food, all but Austria in history, and all but A Farewell to Arms in Hemingway (doing well in that category was a pleasant surprise; I didn't think I knew much about him other than he had a bunch of polydactyl cats). DJ was a bit of a mess, too. I missed three in chemistry when that's usually a strong subject for me. I missed another three in religious phrases; vocabulary is typically a very strong subject for me, but toss in religion and that's what happened.
