It would have been nice if they could have had Rob play that role of asking for more information, rather than contestants flailing around with limited time, thinking they gave a wrong answer. 1 2 Link to comment
Diana Berry March 3 Share March 3 Really liked the show. I knew fashion icons would come back to bite someone . Question about strategy, remember the lady with dark hair that was on a streak…she always answered her questions very fast. The other contestants just answered at a normal speed. Taeolas March 4 Share March 4 Yeah, answering fast is certainly the key. There are no penalties for wrong answers, so go 'stream of thought' and hope you get the answer out in some verbal diarrhea if it doesn't come right away. The other tactic would be to pass quickly. Don't fight for the answer on the tip of your tongue because you're bound to burn up more than 3 seconds trying to dredge it up. Basically for every question, allow yourself no more than 1 second of stream of thought babbling, then pass and eat the penalty. And if you have absolutely no clue, pass right away. 4 1 Link to comment
Taeolas May 13 Share May 13 Not surprising, but I'm glad to hear it's renewed, especially for 2 more seasons. It's a cheap game show that is fun to play along with and you have to watch it to play along with it. 4 Link to comment
Shrek May 13 Share May 13 Good news, quite enjoyed this one & as was said above you actually have to watch it to play along. And Rob isn't a bad host compared to some of the annoying hosts we get. 3 Link to comment
HerkyJerky September 26 Share September 26 LOVE that this show is back on. I like that it is fast paced unlike, for example, who wants to be a millionaire, that takes 10 minutes to answer a damn question! Lol 1 Link to comment
mlp September 26 Share September 26 I loved this show last year so I was very happy to see it again. I think Rob Lowe does a good job of keeping things moving and I especially like that there's very little shrieking and hugging and jumping up and down. At the end of each competition, the winner gets a few words of congratulation and the loser gets a handshake and then quietly departs. Then they move on. I like that. 6 Link to comment

SoMuchTV September 27 Share September 27 I do mostly like this, but I could do without the closeups of Rob’s !shocked! face when a contestant doesn’t recognize something that surely everyone! should know. It’s annoying enough when they show the other contestants doing it, but c’mon, man! At least try to look impartial! Link to comment
Lovecat September 27 Share September 27 I felt so bad for the lady that got the wobbles before going onstage! "I can't cry in front of Rob Lowe!!" I hear you lady. If I were on that show and The Randomizer stopped on my square, my answer to Rob Lowe's enthusiastic "What's your name?!??" would likely just be a whispered "so handsome"...or just a nonsense syllable. 2 Link to comment

Adding players doesn't change anything. It just expands possibilities and lengthens the game which is fine with me. I don't want them to make any significant changes. It seems like every time producers decide to "freshen up" a show, they ruin it. 1 Link to comment

Because that's the sort of people most gameshows attract & look for after the first season & people know people are watching them. Jeopardy being the main exception & there are a few others but not many. Something like WOF actively looks for excitable, outgoing & very loud contestants as do many more but it's not the worst there is, that would probably have to be TPIR & LMAD. 1 Link to comment

Nerfect Drifty October 24 Share October 24 I think that if someone has a time boost but doesn't use it, I would like to see an unused time boost go to the victor of the duel. I hope the ending is not as anticlimactic as last year, when it turned out being 2 squares vs. 79 squares. Would love to see two people with big swatches of territory duke it out in the end. Hate how so many people go back to the floor after a single duel. 3 Link to comment

Madding crowd October 25 Share October 25 (edited) I think some of the pictures they use are odd and it makes it hard to guess the clue. They also seem to be reaching with some of the answers such as Doris Day for daytime television. She may have had something years and years ago but should not be in a category with Dr. Phil and Oprah. I looked it up and her show was in 1968, and all the others in the category had shows into the 2000’s at least. Edited October 25 by Madding crowd 3 Link to comment
mlp October 25 Share October 25 Overall, I really like this show and I think Rob Lowe does a good job as host but it does seem to me like it's noisier this season with more typical quiz show behaviors by contestants. I'd prefer an atmosphere more like Jeopardy. I've always been good at trivia - or so I thought. I'd be a disaster on this show. It seems like many of the categories are some variety of popular culture, something I know little about. And don't care about. I wonder how much time they have between episodes. Several people have mentioned cramming for a subject they inherited. 1 Link to comment

GenerationX October 27 Share October 27 I'm new to the show and am trying to figure out why someone would choose to keep playing over going back to the floor if they want to win the entire show. I don’t claim to be an expert in Floor strategy, but I think there’s $$$ prize for the contestant with the most territory at the end of each episode, so I can see how that might tempt someone to stay on the floor and go for it. I guess if there was a category you felt good about and it could boost your territory, you might take that risk? Link to comment
illdoc October 27 Share October 27 Also, new this season, win 3 duels in a row and get a 5-second time boost. You choose which duel you want to use it on and you'll get 50 sec (instead of 45). Link to comment
Taeolas October 28 Share October 28 This show does raise some interesting strategy thinking. You know what your category is. You know the categories around it. You also know what the whale categories are. You know who has time boosts, who has won money. You also know how many duels are per episode. (Usually 8, sometimes 9), so you know how many attempts there are to get the episode prize. * At the end of the episode, you have a day to cram up on the categories around you. (Something that is much more obvious this season than last. Like the constellation guy saying "Surely they'll give us cute pictures, not just points in the sky... Nope!) Strategically, whether I stay or go would depend on a variety of things: * How well I know my category. * How confident am I in winning the categories around me. * Can I reach a whale and if I do, can I take their category? Getting the Time boost is a goal, especially if you already have one in hand. Getting the most territory probably isn't a goal early in an episode (first 4 duels) but should probably be a goal later on (later 2-3 duels) If you have 2 duels in hand, you certainly should go for a time boost. Pick a strong category and grab it. Especially early in the episode. Early in the season, you're better off not being noticed/picked. So winning a duel and dropping back with only 2-3 squares is a valid strategy. Especially if you can snag a pair on the edge or in a corner. People will generally focus on going for the centre so you're less likely to be picked on the edge (and if you have more than 1 square you won't be picked by the Randomizer). If you become a whale, stay up there long enough for a Time boost. It's basically a shield you'll want/need to discourage people from challenging you. If you inherit a category you don't know and you aren't a whale, stay on the offensive, at least until the end of the episode, so you can get cram time later. But try not to become a whale, otherwise you might be put on the spot before you can cram. I'm sure there are other strategies; but that's my general thoughts on how I would play it out. A lot depends on the territory, when in the episode I'm active, and when in the season I'm active. So a lot of factors to consider and evaluate. 1 2 Link to comment
Shrek October 28 Share October 28 I don't think it can get any harder than that constellation category, I got absolutely zero on that one & I can usually muster a couple from the ones I know nothing about. 1 Link to comment

Lantern7 October 29 Share October 29 If they ever go to sports logos again, they need to pull out stuff from defunct teams. Funny that the two guys nailed all thirty MLB teams, but then one of them fell apart when minor league logos were introduced. And I can't blame him. I probably would have been able to push things further (I swear, I recognized the logo for the Portland Sea Dogs, as well as the Durham Bulls and Toledo Mud Hens), but I don't think the average person could have done that. Taeolas October 29 Share October 29 I was a bit of an astronomy buff growing up, but I could never find the constellations in the sky, even when my eyes were better (despite growing up in hte country with almost pristine skys for skywatching). I did recognize some of the star patterns, since there are two I readily recognize. Orion (Orion's belt) and the Big Dipper/Ursa Major. If I try really hard I can find the Little Dipper/Ursa Minor. Beyond that, I'd be lost. That said, you would probably be good if you just started rattling off the signs of the Zodiac as guesses. Libra was pretty obvious to me I think. But yeah, beyond that I'd be lost. Link to comment
