Jada being pregnant is the only pregnancy that would actually be soapy and interesting(to me at least). She's committed to Rafe, drawn to Shawn and had an abortion in the past. This has the makings of a classic soap story that could drive story for years if Shawn were the father etc.

 

Of course Ron writing it none of these things would happen.

Roman really needs shut up. This wasn't his story to tell and Sami married and loved EJ for decades after so obviously it's not as Roman sees it. Or even Kate. 

The child of EJ and Sami should be more like Rachel not this. Johnny never questioned his twin being a different father?

The problem is that they can't have Jada passing off Shawn's baby as Rafe's, because the show established that Rafe was gone for 3 months. That's too much of a gap. I think the original plan was to have Arnold rape Jada and then do a "Who's the Daddy", but that plan got scuttled because Elia Cantu wasn't having it.

Of course, they could just have Jada being pregnant and Rafe immediately doing the math and realizing he can't be the father. Now that could be soapy.

We owe a lot to the actresses advocating for their characters. I believe a similar plot was planned for the new writers with Sarah, Xander and Redacted(hint, a family member) but Linsey absolutely refused to let Sarah cheat.

Johnny is not how I envisioned him to be as an adult. I expected him to be like Spencer Cassadine on GH or a young Phillip instead he's .. this. If not for his relationship with Chanel I wouldn't really find this guy watchable tbh.

Maybe Sydney will be the schemer that we expected a child of EJ/Sami to be. 

I don't mind Sami's kids being different from her but there needs to at least be one just like her. Just like most of Marlena's kids are like her except Sami.

That's a good point about not having a WTD unless her and Shawn slip again while she's with Rafe.

There was a point during Guy Wilson's  run as Will that they were trying to make him a  manipulative schemer but Casey just did not have the chops to pull it off. There was a scene where Adrienne was ripping into Will and saying he was just like his mother. It was pretty brief though and Guy's Will met the Necktie Killer soon after.

Okay, let's get into this huge reveal!

I really liked Roman starting to spill the secret, stopping himself, walking away and then Kate finally telling the story. That felt in-character. I really like Kate and she never gets good material anymore. She delivered in her scenes and it felt right that Kate would just lay it all out there. She did it gently, but she didn't deny her grandson the truth.

Carson....didn't blow me away. He was fine, he didn't embarrass himself or anything, but this monologue was his first real moment to shine in this show and there were no tears, no rage, just an attempt at them. I wanted more. They should have given him some more takes and coached him through it. He needed to build it.

I was reminded of Eileen's incredible "You OWE me!!" monologue from the 90s, which covered years of history and build-up resentment. She worked herself up brilliantly during her monologue. This confrontation wasn't that good (Johnny hasn't just recently gone insane, so the circumstances are quite different) but Carson could have made so much of it. The words were there.

Dan would have also been better with a better scene partner. He was okay though. Chanel played a bunch of emotions in the background well. She's reliable.

I can't help but feel like this is all a somewhat forced build-up to BLANK. I mean, Arnold didn't rape Jada so they had to take a bit of a walk to get Johnny to the subject of rape to allow Roman to spill the beans. I wish this was more organically brought-up. They're being a touch heavy-handed with the anvils, here.

I'd also love to see this end the contact between Johnny and EJ for at least a year or two. He should move out of the mansion and break all contact. Its justified. But sadly, without an apartment set to escape to, he'll stay.

I didn't expect EJ to defend himself at all.  It was nice to hear all the history from his perspective, not that the stem cell explanation exonerates him much.

Anyway this was handled decently and I want big fallout. Not Johnny and EJ chumming it up by Halloween.

I really want to see Susan hear this story.

On a lighter note, WTH was with Martha's whiny delivery about not being able to quit EJ? I laughed out loud.

And why is Melinda helping Ava at all? Were they ever friendly? I don't remember it.

I think you mean Guy Wilson, but yes, it didn't work on him. They were just trying to sabotage and bury his character and boy, were they obvious about it.

You mean Guy Wilson?  I didn't hate his Will tbh he was allowed to be messy, dragged by others at times and seemed more at ease with Will being gay than Chandler's version did. That being said CM's Will had chemistry with his family members. 

I think the only believable relationship I found with GW's Will was his relationship/friendship with KM's Abby.

Speaking of Will his absence along with Lucas/Allie/Sami are glaring in this reveal. 

If they were going to do this reveal they should've done it, then. Also, Sydney has to be there as she was born after Johnny was. 

Also as much as I don't care for her Sami should have been the one to reveal this not Kate or Roman. I mean at least when JJ found out about Jack he suspected Kayla was hiding something and Adrienne accidentally revealed it. Something along that level would've been better than Kate disclosing this.

As I am a Sami fan, I agree that it would have been much better if she had been the one to reveal it.  However, I can't imagine how they would have gotten her to do it, unless she was also talking about Arnold and also slipped like Roman did.  That's the only real way I can see those memories surfacing.

Innocent poor Sami (lol not how she ever has been described) should have a say in this. Johnny version in his head is not the EJ and Sami was on screen.

Today was an intense episode!  But, like posters above said, Sami should have been involved in the reveal, maybe even Lucas.  Dan Feurgil(Sp?) was excellent as a devastated EJ, his scene at the end, on the stairs, actually made me feel sorry for EJ.  Carson Boatman(Johnny) has such a young, sweet face that it was hard for me to feel his emotion.  He should have been much more angry & intense in those scenes.  I felt like the actress playing Chanel was much better, she was actually crying & acting heartbroken.  I wish we could get a scene of Johnny calling his Mom & asking her what her memories are of that night.  Now: we have 2 guns floating around town, Mrs. Crazy Blake & Ava...what will happen with those two?!

Yes that would've been a better option for this to be revealed tbh. This falls flat otherwise also doesn't help that Sami/Lucas/Allie/Will aren't around or that EJ/Sami aren't even together for this to have the same dramatic punch.

This also bothers me about Johnny he thinks little of EJ(which is fine) but has no problem sponging off of him either. They also dismiss Sami's past how she raped Austin years ago and tried to pass Will off as his kid. She also shot EJ in the head which is pretty bad also. EJ/Sami are toxic but it's not a one sided affair either.

Considering her obsessive devotion to EJ in the years following the rape, it will indeed be interesting to see how she faces up to this subject with her son, and explains why she overlooked the rape and loved him anyway (if she even can - Sami is not the most self-aware person).

At least with EJ having now slept with both Nicole and her sister Belle, she's finally free to just hate him, as she always should have.

It's a relief to feel like TIIC have truly given up on them being soulmates or each other's OTL. Gives me some hope that Sami will progress as a character.

Also had another child with the man years later. However it would be classic Sami to hate EJ more for Belle and Nicole than him raping her. 

I like to think the show gave up on this pairing but I would need to believe Days ends without them ending up together to believe that fully. They could've been done with this pairing when James Scott left the show ages ago. I think the only reason we don't see EJ/Sami together now is becasue Alison doesn't want to be Sami full time anymore.

Color me shocked that Theresa actually apologized to Xander today. I wish that she would have also apologized to Alex too though. I know that I've been talking crap about Theresa for the last several months but that's mainly because I have believed for the longest time that she was pretty much irredeemable but after today, I'm starting to think that maybe there might be hope for her after all.

Xander was being absolutely ridiculous though demanding that Theresa stay away from Maggie, Sarah and Victoria. I get that Xander was being protective of his family, but Maggie is a grown ass woman and if she wants to forgive Theresa and maintain a relationship with her, that's her business and Xander has no right to interfere. Would she actually forgive Theresa though? Only time will tell at this point. 

Speaking of Alex, I was surprised that he didn't go ballistic and start screaming and yelling at her and calling her an irredeemable piece of crap the minute that he laid eyes on her. It was really nice that he and Theresa managed to have a somewhat civil conversation. I still don't really care for him and Stephanie and I really hope that Joy's pregnancy news puts a little wrench into their happy union soon.

Sarah got to shit bricks about Maggie encountering Vivian at Statesville.  She had to interrupt her talking to Xander to avoid the forgery coming up.

I won't miss Joy-- the character was annoying from the start. I'm assuming she will be back with a baby by the end of the year? 

We got our first ever exterior shot of Rafe's house. It is much bigger than I thought it was. When Rafe first came to Salem (right before I started watching, around 2008), did he eventually share an apartment with Sami, then he ended up with that house? The Hernandez family is big (and seems to always be growing), so I guess he bought larger than he needed so he could house half a dozen relatives?

Also, I think Jada looks very pretty with the straight hair, though it's a little on the long side. I wish they would let the actress put at least a stud in her nose-- the piercing hole is so obvious, especially when she's filmed from her left.

Nice moments with Rafe and Johnny. He's had a relationship with these kids so its appropriate to see that honored. Why did Sami marry EJ twice indeed!!

Gabi and Kate were my spirit animals today, ripping into Leo and EJ! Well-deserved! It's all a bit sudden and on-the-nose with the latter, but I still enjoyed it.

I don't remember exactly when Rafe started living there, but I do remember the set getting a good amount of use when Rafe's mother lived there and his dad came back, too.  Gabi was there also, as was Dario, as well as Rafe.  

Then it emptied out almost as quickly as it had filled up.

Wow, today's show was "on Fire"!  The scenes between EJ & Kate were intense and Kate was giving as good as she got!  Dan Feurgil(sp?) was Terrific with his anger at his feeling betrayed by Kate.  He was So Intense!  And then EJ's scenes with Mother Blake(I am NOT your Mother, lol)...he knows what Kristin is up to, so he will erase Mother Blake's memory.  And I LOVED the scenes with Rafe & Johnny.  Back in the day, I Loved Rafe's relationship with little Johnny, giving him the stuffed Penguin after his eye surgery.  Rafe always had a good relationship with Sami's kids.  Rafe was kind & understanding.   And interesting exterior view of Rafe's house!  It looked bigger than I imagined, I thot he lived in a little cottage.  They have only shown the kitchen(and I think Rafe's bedroom).  The show is moving along with some good storylines, it will be interesting what the new writers do.

Lol this is just the production team (or whoever) doing a bad job of matching the set to a real life interpretation. They did it with the hospital at first, too. I refuse to believe the house is that big. The set, btw, is IMO one of the worst depictions of an actual house layout I've ever seen. But, this is something I rarely see done right, so whatever.  /peeve

I'm pretty sure that that set was re-imagined from Maggie's house with Mickey back when Mickey died off-screen. I was hoping EJ would remind Kate of how she tried (and quite literally almost succeeded) to have Sami executed by lethal injection after she framed her for Franco Kelly's murder, if i'm remembering that correctly. Or does Johnny already know that? Actually, I keep forgetting that Kate is not Johnny's grandmother, so maybe he wouldn't care. I also keep forgetting that Will and Johnny are brothers, so...lol.

This was, IMO, one of the overall best episodes in quite some time.  All of the Paulina, Leo and Javi scenes to the contrary, EJ, Kate, Johnny, Jada and yes, even Rafe, did an excellent job.  Reluctantly, I have to say that even Kristen added to the episode in a positive way.

Dan F. is just terrific and today he brought that home in every scene.  Him going head to head with Lauren Koslow just showcased what excellent actors they both are.

Hopefully, tomorrow's episode will continue the quality storytelling by having a piano fall out of an upper story window right onto Leo's head as he moves into Casa Hernandez..

I personally find Leo rather insufferable he was fine at first when he was comic relief and didn't have all this airtime for no real reason. It's obvious he's an avatar of Ron which is even a bigger turnoff.

Oh Wow! What has EJ done to Mother Blake?!  I got a kick out of the scene where Mother Blake pretended to have lost her mind & memories & then she calls EJ "Elvis"! HA...she was smart to switch out the serum for a fake serum without EJ knowing about it. Mother Blake knew the combination was Stefano's birthday! HA I loved Julie being so excited about going to the Bistro with 2 Handsome Young Men!  And then whoa: Julie sees Melinda wearing the necklace!  Doug3 does not say anything: What will he do?!  Meanwhile, I am happy Rafe&Jada are having a few minutes of Happiness.
