I also don't want it to be Aaron's. I really like the chemistry between Sophia and Tate, they are far more interesting than he ever was with Holly.

But Ron's trope is to make the third wheel evil and/or deranged. I'm expecting the same treatment for poor Joy, who I like far better than Stephanie and who makes Alex almost palatable.

That's a great idea and storyline.  Let Sophia's mom choke on that and in the end, have to re-evaluate her bulldozing ways.  But it's such a good idea we can be sure Ron C. will never use it.  Instead he'll have Sophia hanging Holly out of a window telling Tate to choose who lives or some sort of Krazy Kristen nonsense.

Most ridiculous wedding Days has had in a long time.   Everyone showing up at the church (without coats in the middle of winter) and I think, my goodness a wedding ceremony in an actual church setting for change.   And then I see people fiddling with seats outside.  OUTSIDE, in the middle of winter?   What the bloody hell?  And then there's the Mayor of Salem performing the ceremony.   Why not  just do it City Hall or the Police Station and there would be no needs for coats.

I really enjoyed the bachelorette party and I’ve forgotten enough of past storylines to ship EJ and Belle because the actors are great together, but him kidnapping Rafe is gross.

In the last year we’ve had Abe, Gabi, Melinda, now Ava and Rafe and I feel like I’m missing some others. I don’t mind recycled plots when they involve romance, but hate kidnapping stories.

I would call this a recapture rather than a second kidnapping.  This is all part of the same kidnapping, after all.  But yes, Rafe should've just run out of the mansion and gotten far away before asking anyone for help.

Speaking of DiMera employee, I guess that the actress who played Rita the assistant made such a good impression on Ron during the strike (when the scabs introduced her) that he brought her back.  She was a pretty good actress with a nice rapport with Dan.  I'm just sorry that she's turned out to be a DiMera thug on top of a DiMera employee who's now aided and abetted him with a kidnapping.

Don't the tunnels run all the way under the city?

I seem to recall Rafe rescuing Hope from a house Andre had set to blow up, back when he knew Hope had shot Stefano but couldn't prove it.

There was a whole episode of Rafe doting over Hope's unconscious body in the tunnels after he got her out of there. I think the tunnels ran all the way to the house she was held in.

Point being, couldn't he have just run through the tunnels under Salem to freedom, rather than upstairs where he'd be seen trying to escape by the DiMeras?

Yes, the tunnels run all over Salem.  It's possible that much of the maze has been sealed off, after all it has been 40+ years since everyone became aware of them. Andre wore the Roman Brady mask to attack women, then used the tunnel system to escape.  If the tunnels were still open and passable, there would likely be a major Salem Crime Wave.

I'm OK with the DiMera staffer tasering Rafe.  The scripting of the scene, and the execution of the scene is what was bad.  It easily could have been written/taped that a frantic Rafe appeared and as he heads racing for the door, Connie 2.0 could have called his name and tasered him as he turned.

Instead, they have the ex-FBI agent just standing there as she rambles on and pulls items from her purse.  Makes it more of a cartoon than a drama.

Boy, she teleported to the mansion quickly. Did they edit down her conversation with Shawn?

Did we ever see a full conversation between them when Shawn saw EJ at Belle's and realized they'd banged? I feel like we didn't, but maybe it was the start of the next episode...

Rafe is clearly not Rafe. Come on, folks. Check for a face mask at least!

The evidence reveal is so vague its laughable. So is Rafe crying. (Can Galen cry?)

Are those tall black things in the shrubs supposed to be heating lamps...? 😅 Points to the set decorators for trying to make sense of an outdoor winter wedding, but those things will not prevent frostbite!

Leo is like a Mary Sue fanfic insert we are forced to watch. He's in every plot and on every day. Suddenly he's the main character and all the ones we are invested in and hanging on for are off screen.

I'm barely watching but isn't Leo in 5 plots now?

1. "Romance" with toy boy Javi. Another Ron fantasy 

2. Marlena’s "only friend"

3. Jada and Arnold fall out 

4. Body and Soul crap 

5. Holly and Doug's creepy old guy pal

I find him impossible to watch.

You just reminded me of how he just had to write the story about the Hortons for the Spectator after the house burnt down. Never mind that this could've been Will who's a writer and a Horton(plus Lucas was there and we could've gotten some Will/Lucas scenes but of course not and I say this as someone that's not even a big Will fan tbh)

The ambulances were overwhelmed with calls, so I'd say that the unseen cast members were affected, too.  I just wonder whether or not anyone found Joy, since she was alone when she got sick?

I'm black and from a black family.  So I know some black slang.  But I'm embarrassed that I don't know what "heffa" means.  My mother uses that term very often, yet I never know that to which she's referring when she uses it.  So I have no idea what Paulina meant when she called Whitley that.  What does the term mean?

Much improved show today, featuring characters that have been off screen for weeks. I was thrilled to see Cat and Felicity, Xander and Sarah, Chad and Julie and to get a Leo break.

It's like Sarah is trying to emulate Xander, acting tough with Philip and justifying her lies. I'd like to explore that as a psychological thing but it is just ReRon Reroning but in reverse.

I don't care about anybody in the triangle except Joy. But I will support Stephanie and Alex if they just stay together and stop sleeping with other people. I can just skip them then. Pity Joy and Philip can't hook up but given his past with her sister.... oh wait, just remembered Belle and EJ, never mind... Team Phloy!

I strangely think Phillip wouldn't do it given how he was around when Joy was born.

It's very compelling watching Kristen slowly process how dangerous her daughter is. The show was long overdue for a creepy kid storyline, so this feels earned.

How are Steve and Jada smart enough to state that Rafe is acting out of character, and has been for some time, but not smart enough to bring him to the hospital and have him examined for a brain chip or something? Surely Arnold has different fingerprints at least? And the DiMeras have crazy magical face masks, right?

Weren't a lot of these characters on the canvas back when Fake Rafe was first walking around?

I am embarrassed to say I have very conflicted feelings about EJ and Belle. DAYUM!    *fans self*

I'm right there with you.  There are plot holes so big in this retread that you could drive a whole fleet of big rigs through it and back again.

So the WIW aka Mommy Most Murderous, has to go grocery shopping, or at least have them delivered, has to do a load of wash pretty frequently considering she's living in a rotting, deserted house.  Has to pay for heating, for a land line since that old Princess phone still works, apparently also has wireless ?!?!???, and undoubtedly has had to decide whether to pay premium for Peacock or go with the cheaper version.  Does she like Netflix or is she more of a Hulu/Disney+ plus type?  Apple or Android?  Has the plumbing held out all these many decades?

So many questions, none that I give a damn about.

I don't find EJ and Belle entertaining at all because EJ is nothing but slime.  I cannot believe Belle tells him he's disgusting when he admits to going after Jada because she got him fired and then jumps back into bed with him.   Wonder if it will be such a turn on for her when she finds out he's after HER job.   And Mayor Price offering fakeRafe his job back--since he was so PISSED when she fired him, she should be so suspicious that he was so willing to come back.    (Why do I keep watching this show?)

If it happens, I don’t know if I can “buy” him as Shawn D without Kirsten Storms as Belle. The two are inextricably linked in my mind, just as MM and BB are.  My brain will take time for a mix and match.

Honestly I find it more believable for MM's Belle to be more morally grey than a source of morality especially given her conception. KS's Belle was more believable as sweetness and light when she was a teenager. Since adulthood? Not so much. 

It's why Belle is so dissatisfied with Shawn she has that darkness to her and it would be a great source of natural conflict with Marlena tbh. 

I do think it would've been great soap if Talia came back with Shawn's love child in tow as karmic payback for Belle being complicit with what Jada is going through. Then throw in a possible Shawn/Jada fling. That would be great soapy fun but probably won't happen.

Why would Jason Cook return? It's not like Brandon is leaving. Although I did prefer Jason as Shawn I just don't see where you are getting he's returning. Jason/Martha didn't really have chemistry to me either. At that point I think they should've just committed to Shawn/Mimi(and I say this as someone who didn't really like Mimi most of the time).

Belle is definitely going to feel like shit once the Rafe secret comes out. I doubt she's fully going over to the dark side.

Again, at this point why doesn't EJ just kill Rafe? There is nothing good to be gained from keeping him alive. You have an exact lookalike whose wig cannot be pulled off! Seems like the only way this can go south is if the real one is alive to pop up and spill the beans. Is EJ going to send him to the island or something? Is there ANY plan here?

I liked Talia she at least had self awareness and owned her mistakes. However I liked her relationship with Jada because it gave Jada something to do beyond cop and a dead end to another Eric/Nicole reunion. That being said my point about JC is that while I don't buy Belle/Shawn with Martha and Brandon either I don't see the show wanting to bring Jason back.

 

I also think it doesn't really matter who plays Shawn at this point because they already made up their mind how that character was going to go. An extension of Belle and not much else. This is not how I envisioned Shawn Douglas to be as an adult given who his parents and grandparents were.

While the majority of the Body and Soul storyline was ridiculous, I still prefer it over the Fake Rafe one. I chose to watch it as a workplace storyline and not Ron poking fun at his literal job. It was tolerable.

Abe & Kate were getting hit with Lawsuits(altho I only knew of one from Bonnie), and were afraid of what that would mean for the show, so the Network bought it from them(and Kate & Abe now have Money), and offered members of the cast to move to Los Angeles as they were moving filming the show from Salem, but only Hattie (and Seth Burns) were interested in moving, everybody else has Family in Salem, yada yada.  Even Leo was tempted to move, but he likes living in Salem & he does not want to leave Javi, but then Leo was told he was fired & the Network was hiring a new Head Writer(sound familiar?)
