Nicole outlines the Festie Bestie rules:

When someone becomes HoH, their bestie is also safe. But only the HoH does the noms.

The following week, the HoH cannot compete, but their bestie can. So conceivably, one pair could pull off safety week after week.

I took a break to put together an angel food cake because apparently word has gotten around that I will make one and now everyone is requesting one for their birthdays (why does everyone I know have a summer birthday?) and I came back to Jasmine telling a heartwarming story about... sushi? And seafood?

She really has a two track mind: it's either "Fuck Taylor" or food.

ETA: Ah, she was complaining about her HoH basket and food. Because of course.

Brittany is whispering upstairs with the festie bestie Michael and... she has the worst fucking reads in the history of bad reads on Big Brother. Like, she thinks that Alyssa doesn't actually like Kyle. Girl, she's gonna go full Danielle Murphree in like three days and for a bland Mormon boy who's still clinging onto his temple garments. It's probably a good thing that if it isn't Taylor going this week, it's Brittany.

If they do and Michael wins yet another Veto, then she'll be safe, anyway.

Have they confirmed that the Veto works that way? I mean, it would make sense but I heard Michael talking about making a pitch and explaining how the Golden Key worked on BB13 and blah blah I actually lost interest at that point.

ETA: That would have nothing to do with the Golden Key - I was probably listening to too many conversations at once - never mind. Yeah, Veto probably does work that way.

For those keeping track at home (it's me), The Turner Formerly Known As Matt got The 1975 for his HoH music - specifically Notes on a Conditional Form. I continue to be disappointed by music choices since, like, ever. Probably since Austin baffled us all with his Clay Aiken CD.

I keep seeing “The Turner Formerly Known As Matt” as The Tuna Formerly Known As Matt 🤷🏼‍♀️

Well no one has described his... aroma, other than blech and take a shower, dude so we could both be right.

I was gonna have a tuna melt for dinner but, uh, maybe not anymore. Why do I do this to myself?

Because they have a small, vintage-style fridge to go along with the motel theme.

WHAT IS WITH HER AND THE WEIRD FOOD COMBOS?

I haven't been taking her to mean she wants to eat those these together, just that those are 2 things she wants. So, she wants chicken and she wants marshmallows. Or she wants cool ranch doritos and she wants popsicles, although I don't see what's so strange about that combo lol.

All I want from this week and every week is for the person that 'the house' wants gone to not go so here's hoping Taylor or Brittany (whichever ends up nommed) wins veto!

Turner and Brittany actually have a F2. I mean, I've only seen them actually talk like once though so I don't know how ironclad that is lol.

So much for the girls' plan to get rid of Turner this week.

If Pooch's evict was unanimous and he was told in advance, that was the right move.  No need to go against the house this early for someone who put himself in that position.

Brittany and Michael should be easy noms.  They are both on the out skirts in the house.

I've never heard of this 1975 thing.  Isn't he a bit young for that?  That was my Soph year in HS.

I'm thinking Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon or Wish You Were Here to mellow out.  Or maybe Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti.  Double album😎

Someone will get voted out this week…what happens to their bestie?

I assume some flavour of safety until jury. If it does go on for three weeks, maybe for the last week, they'll pair up the spares like a bad fan fiction of a YA novel where no one can remain single.

ETA: It would be totally dope, like completely unrill, if they made the homies play musical chairs every week to determine new pairings. I think that idea is fire. But we all know that won't happen because letting the HGs pick their own besties meant that the majority alliance basically gets to stick together and be untouchable until jury like always.

I’m a little confused how the pairs will work when there’s an uneven number of houseguests. Someone will get voted out this week…what happens to their bestie?

Yea, I'm assuming it'll be like @Callaphera said and the leftover will be safe until jury. That's how they did it in BB13.

I just read elsewhere that Nicole said if their bestie gets evicted, they get some kind of power. The power is probably just safety. So, this is 100% BB13 lol.

Why start this twist in week 3 though? This season was so poorly put together lol.

Maybe a Randomizer will choose the pairs like it does on Challenge USA.

Apparently the Besties twist wasn’t even actually explained to them and they’re just speculating that it lasts until jury so maybe we should wait and see. But it’s BB so let’s face it, it’ll suck lol.

It would actually make a lot more sense for it not to last that long since backstage was only 1 week and it just seemed like it was gonna be a new fest every week.

It would really only make a difference if it was truly random and they would literally never. An America Votes might be all right but then you have the feedsters coming up with pairings like Kyle/Taylor because seeing Alyssa make that angry squirrel face when she's jealous is hilarious, but we know that America can't be trusted and will totally slap together Kyle and Alyssa because OMG 😍💕🥰 and potentially destroy the feedsters in the vote. Because everyone loves a love story. (Gag me.)

I think the festie besties were supposed to start on the first week and be in addition to the festival theme but when Paloma started immediately going around the bend, they pulled back knowing that she was going to DOR and had to push it to week 3 so that they could have even pairs. All the hints pre-season were for pairs - and I don't think Chenbot has it in her programming to troll us three weeks in advance.

While The 1975 has been around since 2002, they didn't have an album until 2013, so they're still pretty new in most people's minds, so I could see someone like Turner being into them.

I can’t speak to the chicken and marshmallows (although I’m imagining some version of a s’more that subs chicken for the graham cracker, because a girl needs her protein to stay healthy), but I can confirm that the chips and popsicles do indeed go together.  Giant purple popsicles, gnawed on in between loud CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH mouthfuls of crispy orange Doritos. None of which dripped/ crumbled into the bedsheets that the HaveNots slept on later that night, of course. I predict the unofficial festie bestie of every HoH from here on out will be the ants, because they have surely moved in and they ain’t leaving.

Chips and a popsicle just doesn’t sound like an odd combo to me. Also, I need to get some cool ranch Doritos. And maybe popsicles.

The only way this week can be in any way interesting is if whichever one of Michael/Taylor isn’t nommed wins veto and saves the other’s pair. But the odds aren’t good they’ll even win let alone actually have the game sense to use it to save the other. So there’s basically no hope lol.

The one other thing is if Ameerah decides Michael is a smarter choice to get ride of, which he is, and he goes over Brittany, which would be kinda funny. It was not smart of him to pick Brittany.

It’d also be kinda awesome if Ameerah decided to target Nicole over Taylor, but that’s pretty unlikely.

It's completely impossible.  Ameerah and Nicole have a F2 deal (it's Nicole's backup deal in case something happens to Daniel), so there's no way in hell.

I mean, so do Turner and Brittany lol.

Most of them have like 14 different alliances.

But it won’t happen because people don’t play anymore. And Production proves time and again they want this big alliance, everyone votes with the house until it’s their turn to be the target bullshit.

I can’t get over how this season looked like it could maybe have potential and Production was like fuck that lol.

It literally went:

"This cast sucks and this season is probably going to blow. I don't know why I bother... wait, wait a second. This has potential. Maybe I was wro- nope, there it is, the Big Suck. Should've gone with my gut."

Grodner's stranglehold on this game is the woooorst. I hope my tomato plants don't grow properly so they go rotten and I can throw them at a picture of her. (Actually I don't, they're my first tomato plants and they are my preciousness and wonderful.) (I better not have jinxed my tomatoes.)

Yep, this twist insured they’d go back to the ‘ostracize and shit talk Taylor all day’ status quo.

Nicole so clearly wants her and Taylor nommed so she can stay and get whatever power apparently comes with being a single so Taylor better win the veto so Nicole doesn’t get it lol.

Yeah.  At the very safest, Turner probably just throws Michael and Brittany or Taylor and Nicole up onto the block, with the former member of each pairing as the target, and everything returns to the status quo.

But maybe not.  There might be a chance he turns inward on the Oasis.  Jasmine's been throwing Monte and Joseph under the bus to him hard since both last night and this morning.  He may not actually throw them up, but she might at least put doubt in his mind about them going forward.

This is why the Girls alliance - is going to implode.  Michael, Brittany, Taylor should be easy evictions.  Jasmine isn't that tight with any of them.  She's safe, so just go with the house - especially this early in the game.  I'm sure it's going to get back to Monte and Joseph that Jasmine was trying to throw them under the bus.

This season feels like it was assembled from spare parts. Well, more than usual.

Weird food combinations: If you see an older guy getting California rolls and jalapeno poppers in his HoH basket, that's how you guys will know that it's me. The fried poppers make a nice contrast to the freshness of the sushi, and the zing of the ginger ties it all together nicely.

As for HoH music, it'll either be this:

Or this:

Either one should chase the kids out, right?

I have not seen, heard, or read anything about Jasmine throwing them under the bus. She was the first person to talk to Turner last night and she bashed Taylor and misted Turner into believing Taylor masterminded the Pooch eviction. And don't you worry, every one is being a good little 'go with the house' follower like they always are! Everyone except Taylor knows the plan; nom Brittany/Michael, veto them to put up Taylor/Nicole, and then evict Taylor.

So, prayer circle for a Taylor veto win!

But on the other hand, get her the hell outta there so she doesn't have to spend any more time with these people.

I do love that pretty much all the fans hate this besties twist. It's giving Battle of the Block lol.

Yea I don’t know, I never heard anything of the sort. Oasis is the men’s alliance that Pooch started, which is kaput now.

Unfortunately, this twist has solidified the awful Po’s Pack alliance (Monte/Kyle/Michael/Alyssa/Ameerah/Nicole) and they will now have an easy steamroll.

Noms are happening now. I guess they figured might as well get it over with since everyone already knows what they will be lol.

I would stop talking bad about Production for a minute if they pull a BB12 and tell Turner he’s not allowed or nom Britt/Michael now because he told them he was. Just for the lols.

If they were going to do this dumb twist, they should have made it a random spin of the wheel type draw. Not allow HG's to pick. The result of that should have and has been obvious. It is lazy of Big Brother to allow that. Use a season 3 spin the wheel. Old School. Random.

I'm still bitter over Grodner conveniently reactivating the Duos thing after Kalia and Porsche finally had the veterans on the ropes during Season 13. What a giant fucking buzzkill after the glory of Clown Shoe. I fear a possible reprise of that this time.

Ah, but good old Clown Shoe: the Paul Loses Again of its time.

No. no, you are not.

I believe Turner was to have been the target (along with Monte or Joseph) if the women had won again. I’m glad to have a break from Jasmine lolling around the HoH bed (you know she would have reclaimed her throne, no matter which of her handmaidens won), but I would have endured it gladly if it got Turner out of the house.

Nicole was telling Ameerah and Daniel that she was talking to someone (it was hard to hear, but I think Taylor????) about having to stay strong and whoever the unknown woman was said that after next week "we'll have to go after the girls." The woman wants to start working with the guys. Nicole was pissed! Daniel said the woman always do this. Nicole started talking about how she played along, and we lost that room.

I know we've been making fun of Alyssa being into Kyle because he seems like a nerd.  He's wearing a sleeveless t-shirt right now and, well, boyfriend works out.   He's got quite the pair of guns.

They are celebrating Joseph's birthday.   Taylor is being nice and cutting the cake.  Or to put in Jasmine speech:  "Bitch is pretending she's all nice but really just wants to call attention to herself and play up to Joseph by giving him his slice.  She.  Has.  To.  Go."
