Kanye West: The Most Intelligent Celebrity

Discussion of Kanye's run for the US Presidency is off-limits here, unless and until the run appears on the show itself, as per our Politics Policy. https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/94644-politics-primetimer-updated-070319

How far off the deep end is he going to go?  Is there anyone, such as a doctor, who could step in and insist he have his meds adjusted? With a person with such wealth and fame, and his parents are dead and he is divorced, and with severe mental illness, I wonder who he has that would be willing to confront him or not just tell him what he wants to hear?

His father is still alive to my knowledge.

If you do not take your medicine on a consistent basis there is nothing to adjust.

Doesn't say whether he was seeking a contract, looking to stir up trouble or engaging in further hate speech.  Skechers said in a release "We condemn his recent divisive remarks and do not tolerate antisemitism or any other form of hate speech.  The Company would like to again stress that West showed up unannounced and uninvited to Skechers corporate offices."

Maybe he was there to show the Sketchers executives porn like he did at Adidas? 🤣🤡

We don’t force medications on anyone in this country. And thank goodness.

Sadly, if his issues are indeed due to mental illness, it often has to reach a crisis point where it’s clear he is a danger to himself or others.  There are legal procedures for filing for an involuntary commitment.  An evaluation is done by mental health professionals and the patient has the right to appear before a judge for a review if the recommendations.  It’s not exactly easy to keep someone under an involuntary hold.

And, people can’t be forced to take medications.  No matter how sick they are or how  dangerous they may be, they have the right to refuse all treatment and meds.  Managing the care of a family member who has untreated mental illness can be extremely stressful and painful.  I suspect no one is willing to go up against Ye, because he would seek revenge when he gets the chance and you’d regret messing with him.  That’s why a lot of celebrities leave him alone, imo.  I do worry that this situation is not going to end well.

I saw this:

I’d call for security if he entered my building for sure.

He's going to have to attack someone or something (I hope it's something) before they can lock him up somehere.

For a 51/50 in California, he’d need to make a direct, specific, believable threat to harm himself and/or others. Then he could be held on a mental health hold for 72 hours max. If he actually physically harmed someone else, he would simply be arrested, most likely. And probably out on bail before long. He’s clearly unhinged, but has he ever physically harmed someone else?

We may never know exactly what he’s done.  I imagine, he does what he wants.  With NDAs, people may not be able to speak out or afraid.

He had one done in 2016 when he was I think officially diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

This is true.  We may never know.  There are other people who act very much like Ye, who do not have bipolar disorder.  So…….idk……if he said it was bipolar, but maybe he meant borderline personality.  I’m no expert, but saw this.

Families Are Wondering How To Get Their Tuition Back After Donda Academy Closes For The Remainder Of The School Year

Quote

Parents are concerned about tuition refunds after Donda Academy issued out an email, letting them know that “effective immediately” the school will be closed!

The email reads, “Dear Donda Academy Families- we hope this email finds you well. First we would like to express our gratitude for the community of families and scholars that Donda Academy brought together. However , at the direction of our Founder, Donda Academy will close for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year effective immediately. Thursday, October 27th. THERE IS NO SCHOOL TOMORROW.”

“Our leadership team will be working diligently to assist all families during this transition, ensuring that every scholar has what they need to succeed in their next community in a prompt and gracious manner.”

“We intend to begin afresh in September of 2023, and we are confident that our scholars will continue to advance as the creative innovators, courages influencers and academic leaders of the next generation. Thank you for your support.”

Wow, they have really screwed over all those students. I feel bad for the kids, but this is what the parents deserve for being stupid enough to send their kids to that school.

I've been saying for a long time that I feel like we're watching something play out that is leading nowhere good - like watching a car wreck in slow motion.  And yes, I believe this is going to wind up with somebody physically injured - or a serious attempt made towards another person - and honestly, that person will probably be Kim.  Where does it end?

You can hate Kim and the Kardashians all you want, but that doesn't go hand in hand with where we are now.  They are not responsible for the creation of Kanye West, he was going to get here all on his own with or without the Kardashians.  He was the legitimate star, famous for talent.  They may have hitched their wagon to that cart, but honestly we would probably be here regardless of that.  And if we DO want to put some onus of responsibilities on the Kardashians, then that finger needs to point at every other enabler surrounding Kanye.  They've been there or a while.   But back to my original point, if I were Kim, I'd be concerned for my safety at this point.  If I were any of the Kardashians I would be concerned for my safety.

And honestly, let's not blame mental health for this.  Is it the cause of these outbursts, or simply the catalyst?  Was this hatred and anger and disregard always there but because the mental health challenges had not yet fully come out so we weren't aware of it?

Let's not act like Kanye is one person randomly spewing this vitriol and hate towards the jewish community, out of the blue and something we haven't seen in decades.  On the contrary, he's now simply the most influential.  And I agree, this outrage should have happened this way when he said slavery was a choice.  Or back when he used racial slurs towards a member of the black community.  Or countless other times.  But it took us getting to here.

I remember back when Trump was first running for president and he said something along the lines of he could go shoot somebody on 5th avenue and not lose votes.  Honestly, that's what I think Kanye thinks.  He can do whatever the fuck he wants because he is Kanye West and he'll always have supporters.  Who cares if he lost 2 billion in a day?  He just needs to find the next sucker to buy into Kanye's comeback, who is brave enough to stand by the brilliancy, who understands that these moments are just moments, they are merely the dark edge of the magic touch that is Kanye?

Kanye West's Donda Academy Opens Again Just Hours After Announcing Shut Down

Quote

In a bizarre twist, Kanye West's Donda Academy has opened it's doors again -- only hours after announcing the school had closed -- and this time it's back "with a vengeance."

Parents and students of Donda received an email -- obtained by TMZ -- around midnight Wednesday reading, "Join us tomorrow morning in worship for the return of Donda Academy. With the help of our parents and community, we are back and returning with a vengeance!"

Any parent who doesn't try to get their kid into another school at this point is a moron. Unfortunately, it's the middle of the school year, so thee kids may all be screwed. I'm guessing Ye realized how much tuition money he was going to have to pay back, so he reopened.

And some idiot let him back on IG, & this is what he posted

Kanye West Back on Instagram, 'I Lost 2 Billion Dollars in One Day'

Quote

Ye was pretty defiant, though, about the Adidas divorce shaving $900 million off his net worth -- according to Forbes -- and he's pinning the loss on Endeavour CEO Ari Emanuel.

He directed one post at the talent agency powerhouse that reads ... "I LOST 2 BILLION DOLLARS IN ONE DAY AND I’M STILL ALIVE THIS IS LOVE SPEECH I STILL LOVE YOU GOD STILL LOVES YOU THE MONEY IS NOT WHO I AM THE PEOPLE IS WHO I AM."

INSIDER

Kanye West's beleaguered Donda Academy building has been quiet for a year, sources say, long before his antisemitic rant

Quote

But a source familiar with the school, who has interacted with West, who now goes by Ye, told Insider that the location was abandoned after just four months around Thanksgiving 2021. Representatives for Ye and Donda Academy did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

A Ventura County official told Insider that Donda Academy received building permits to work on the property, but the school hasn't made any progress since October 2021 and the permits are about to expire.

Where have these kids been all this time?

Honestly the school closing is the best thing that could happen to those kids.   then they could get a real education without the Ye worship.

why was he filming at Skechers?   Probably to prove his point about his comment about Jews.   Either they give him a contract, or as what happened, they show him the door.   Then he can complain about how "the Jews" are the real racists trying to keep a good black man down.   Fortunately Skechers got their version out first.

There is literally no one around Kanye who cares enough to tell him to stop.  They are all profiting from him.   When the money stops they will just bail.

I actually read another story about Ye’s school last night that said there was a change of plans and they were staying open, after announcing they wouldn’t open until 2023.  Maybe, there’s an even more recent update since last night.  I suspect Ye is pushing them to stay open when the people running it think it’s not feasible.  Or, the students could be withdrawing.  I can’t imagine taking your child in the midst of the controversy.  Story changing by the hour. Also, I’ve read the parents have to sign a contract that they will not reveal the location of the school.  And the kids all wear uniforms in black.  I hope someone checks on this kids.

https://www.businessinsider.com/kanye-west-school-donda-academy-shuts-doors-antisemitism-reports-2022-10

I would suspect that Ye is not interested in listening to what others say.  If you speak out as a friend or family member he may just block you or kick you out.

And in today's episode of "What Now?"

Kanye West Sued By Business Manager, Ye Says Their Contract was 'Bulls***'

Quote

According to legal docs, obtained by TMZ, Thomas St. John claims he was hired as Ye's senior financial advisor and Chief Financial Officer for a guaranteed term of 18 months ... and was to be paid a monthly, $300,000 retainer fee.

St. John says after getting the first three payments, Ye got "heated and aggressive" during a meeting at Nobu ... proclaiming he didn't want to work with St. John anymore.

St. John says he brought up the 18-month term, and Kanye responded, “The 18-month term was bulls***” and “You’re insane for even thinking I would stick to it.”

So he basically thinks he can sign any contract & just blow it off when he feels like it. Anyone who goes into any kind of business with him at this point is insane & deserves all the crap they get.

The spreadsheet really is scary. Imagine him sharing it online with his fans and some of them harassing or even violently attacking the people on that list and their families. If I were one of those executives, I would not only beef up the security at my home and workplace, but also take all the legal action possible against Kanye. What a piece of shit.

Like is he on crack seriously because this has got to be drugs because I am unaware of any mental health issue bipolar, schizophrenia, And the list goes on that someone would exhibit this type of behavior.

Unless it's like @GaT said or maybe it was someone else I forget now and I'm too lazy to scroll up that he was never really diagnosed with bipolar depression and the man has just been trolling us this whole entire time.

Yes, that was me, & I agree. How does being bipolar make you act like this? He may have been diagnosed with something, but I think he's exaggerating it so that he can just say whatever he wants & blame it on being bipolar.

I also don't understand what he's trying to accomplish, what does he think this list will do? Make him some kind of god?

Kanye is so far gone at this point he needs to be committed. I could see him actually doing something really bad if someone doesn’t do something soon.

Also ppl with bi-polar can act like this. I know a couple ppl with bi-polar and when they get in a certain state and aren’t being helped with meds or anything it can get ugly.

Also I bet if anyone tried saying something he would cut them out of his life.

There’s a piece about Ye in TMZ, but I’m not going to post the link.  It’s so sick and mean….he’s not really making any sense, but I’m not sure it’s enough for any action to stick. Seems, he knows who to blame for all his problems.   I wonder how much worse it can get.  He’s trying to find a school for the students at his school. He doesn’t realize that it doesn’t work that way.  When something terrible happens, all these people will say, omg….I never thought something like that could happen.  It could and may.  His friends have probably had enough if it.  I think they have talked him down plenty of times before.

I think a lot of his friends from back in the day gave exited. I remember one, the rapper Rhymefest who came up with him in Chicago, mentioned being cast aside when he disagreed with some of his decisions. And this was before the things we’re seeing now.

I know he grew up without his father around and he’s more recently become closer to him. I can’t imagine him as a parent not sitting him down and urging him to get some help for the sake of his own kids. But Kanye did mention he paid for his father’s girlfriends breast implants (TMI), so maybe he’s happy to be on the gravy train.

All that to say, the only people left now are likely hangers on that won’t say anything lest the $$$ stops flowing in.

He doesn’t seem that interested in listening, because he wants to do what he wants to do.  I guess the only thing that might help is if someone filed to get him help through legal means.  That way, he has no choice.  At least for a little while.  Maybe, lawyers are saying there’s not enough. They probably want to make sure they have enough to proceed.  Or, maybe everyone has thrown up their hands and walked away.  Whatever happens, happens.

A parent has to be interested in parenting before they will try to urge their kid to get help.   Otherwise, they will just continue to be an absent parent and/or freeload off the gravy train.

So, others think something needs to be done.  Hughley is questioning why a conservatorship hasn’t been started.  That’s different from a an involuntary hold, but it has a high threshold for proof too.  Ye would really fight that, because it would take his right to manage his own affairs and possibly medical decisions,

There are crazy people everywhere. It’s not illegal to do anything Kanye has done or said, despite how horrid much of it has been. There are mentally ill homeless people who rant and rave similarly, yet most who break the law are put into prisons, not treatment. On what grounds could/should anyone be able to legally step in and take control of his affairs? We allow people to ruin themselves in this country.

It varies by state, however, most guardian or conservatorship laws are designed to step in when a person is deemed incompetent to make their own decisions (this is different from involuntary commitment)….either about living arrangements, finances or medical care.  If the Petitioner, who files the petition, can prove the person is not competent to do these things, the Court  can appoint a Guardian to do it on their behalf. They appoint a family member, professional guardian or the County)  Evidence that someone is not competent might be squandering money, neglecting health, hygiene, etc.  If someone chooses to make these poor decisions they may, however, if the reason is due to incompetence, they may be placed under guardianship or conservatorship to protect them and their assets.

And in Britney spears's case I guess they were saying she was neglecting her health her mental health and in Amanda bynes's case She was squandering her money and her parents stepped in and she still has her conservative ship in place and she seems to be doing well living a private life. Every now and then TMZ/the gossip sites will do a report on her.
