My dad grew up in rural Canada over 75 years ago…think no heat, just wood burning stoves and a dirt floor etc. They all had rifles and were taught to hunt very young.  It wasn’t for sport, they ate, used the fat for cooking, the fur etc. they knew a lot about gun safety though, they were taught young that guns are not toys.

All licensed and legal of course.
