  1. This is my favourite episode so far. Love the actors playing Phillip and Anne - they have great chemistry. The scene where Phillip is on the intercom asking repeatedly for "Sweetie" was a hoot. As was the Queen saying that she is "Darling" or "Cabbage", but that "Sweetie" was someone else. Also loved the story of Phillip's mom, and her relationship with Anne. After the heaviness of the last episode, this one had a welcomed lightness.
  2. I do remember the events that led up to the best friend confessing. IMO though, the divorce was due the stress of keeping their secret. Not sure what they showed in this episode (guess I should find it and watch it after all) but I remember the mom's non stop campaign to keep it in the public's mind. I think there is a good chance that had the mother faded into the woodwork, her son may still be buried in the woods.
  3. I didn't watch this episode since I had seen it before, but now wished I had rewatched after reading your comments. S funny. And true. I have seen this case on a couple of shows, and have already deleted the episode from my PVR. Was it Dateline's version that featured the mom of the murdered man so prominently? She was such a character, with her long pigtails, but she had a will of steel. In the version I remember the most, she was the reason her daughter in law and son's "best friend" were caught. She would not give up. Everyone should be lucky enough to have a mother like her.
  4. I suspected the boyfriend early on, when Dateline said Kevin was a state trooper, and then that the investigating cop put the fingernail clippings in the fridge at the station rather than send them to the state police lab. I inferred from this that she may have suspected Kevin right away and wanted to make sure the evidence could not be tampered with. As it turns out that appears not to be the case, since she was happy to eliminate everyone else and their dog before finally turning to Kevin. He was my prime suspect all along. Also in the first few minutes, they said that when Michelle found out that John had died she thought he died of a heart attack. Didn't believe that she thought that for a minute, but was playing the part of the innocent separated spouse. So of course I immediately thought that she was the one who wanted John dead, and Kevin did her dirty work. Another episode that could have been one hour - way too much filler.
  5. Wasn't there what looked like a casserole dish (or maybe quiche?) sitting on the counter with surhan wrap, and two plates set out? I thought he was waiting for Lim to come home. I have deleted the episode though so can't check. It seems like every episode this season they do something that I think is not believable. In this case it was the kid being taken out of the hospital for a few fun hours, including driving a car in a parking lot. Even the flashes of the breasts I thought was less ridiculous that two doctors taking a patient out, and lying to the parents. But then they show always pulls me back in by the end. This time is was the scene with the boy studying his parents faces, he conveyed so well that he was trying to commit their faces to memory. Great casting. My other fav scene was Shaun imitating the emoji. Priceless!
  6. I am pretty much echoing what some other posters have already said. I think both Simon and Eddie have tried to help Ryan over the years. Isn't Ryan still currently living with Eddie and Tamra? My take on Ryan is that he is basically lazy, has been given jobs by both step dads that he did not take advantage of. I also think that he has seen years of Tamra make easy money by doing the show, and wants an easy way to earn money himself, without putting in a lot of effort. That he is depressed is hardly a surprise, but again he is the only one who can do something about that. I am sure he is getting paid for his appearances on the show, so I guess it is worth it to him to bare his soul on TV. As he has for many years. I actually wanted to give Eddie a standing O for his TH, but I didn't want to disturb the cat on my lap. Yes, he didn't have a great childhood, but many kids don't. A friend of mine had a horrific childhood. Both parents alcoholics, her mother left when my friend was 8. She basically raised her two younger brothers from the age of 8 on. Her father stayed, but was pretty much useless as a parent. My friend left home when she could, put herself through college, moved across country and met my husband's best friend. They married, and have raised two sons - one is an endodontist and the other an attorney. She did everything she could not to let her childhood define her. And she succeeded with flying colours. Her mom died the same year as mine, but mine died of cancer and hers was murdered by a drunk boyfriend. I asked my friend if it was hard losing her mother, since she never had a relationship with her. (As compared to me, who was always close to my mom). She said no, she had no feelings for her whatsoever. This show is really annoying to watch. Watching Kelly with Jolie is like watching my step daughter with her mother when my SD was Jolie's age. Always the parent in the relationship,. Still is. It isn't entertaining, on TV or in real life. I hope Kelly gets kicked to the curb next year. BTW, what did Brian say after Emily made the comment about the doctor, the lawyer and Kelly? He certainly got the stink eye from Kelly.
  7. This episode alternately annoyed or bored me. Like most here, I thought the shoe idea was stupid. I think their tag line was from playground to party? Don't kids normally wear a running type shoe to a playground as it gives them more stability? I said to my husband that I can just picture a kid figuring out how to get the attachment off, putting it in his mouth and choking on it. A law suit in the making. I was gobsmacked when all of those lanterns were released! How is that even legal? And I thought Robert had more common sense than to approve of something like that. Peanut butter dispenser was stupid. I have no problem using the container my peanut butter comes in, with a knife (or spoon if I am eating out of the container). Another "solution" in search of a problem. I thought the dog clothes with matching ones for humans was cute, but too high of a price point. I don't have a dog, but do know many people who do put coats on theirs in the cold weather. I thought the milkshake was the worst idea of all (though what do I know I guess since they have stores). I would never in a million years order one - waaayy tooo messy for my taste (no pun intended). And way too big. LIke another poster said, if these are the best products the show can come up with maybe it is time to pack it in. And definitely time to give Mark a time out.
  8. I am sooo glad that I am not the only one who feels this way! (And I should have known you would too, WQ, as we both have a low tolerance for B.S.!). The thing that I think annoyed me the most was that there is no way 20/20 would have given Joey one hour, let alone two hours, to peddle his movie, unless there were other family members who agreed to do the show as well. So if Mary Jo and Jessica had said no (as Paul did) there would not have been a episode devoted to something that happened 27 friggin' years ago. So stop with the whining about media when you two are happy to still live your life as Buttafuocos, and continue living the notoriety (and in fact court it) that goes along with the name.
  9. Honestly, I didn't really understand the point of the whole 2 hours. Other than Joey still trying to cash in, was there anything new? Mary Jo's book is a decade old. Did I miss something? I find it hard to sympathize with Jessica when she seems to enjoy the spot light as much as her father. If she really thought that this affected her life to the degree that she claims, why would she not change her name and fade into the woodwork like her brother did? Why do a two hour 20/20 show, so that the subject can be rehashed, almost 30 years later? I am not trying to be mean, but honestly during the 2 hours I often felt that she was way more like her father than her mother. I don't really understand either how her father has robbed her of ever having a normal life? Even Mary Jo remarried, and presumably would still be married if her 2nd husband had he not died last year. (Though I find it odd that Mary Jo as well still uses the Buttafuoco name when she could have gone back to her maiden name, or taken her 2nd husband's name). We have certainly seen children recover from much worse that what Jessica went through (ie. father actually kill their mother), where the child loses both parents. Yes, the media (and Joey) made it worse, but Jessica is in her mid 30s and has had many years to become her own person, like her brother appears to have.
  10. I also loved this season much more than last season. I especially love the addition of Paul Reiser's character, which was much needed IMO. I do not care for Norman's Donny Downer personality (which apparently has nothing to do with his wife's death, and is just who he is) so I find the character of Martin to be a much needed antidote to Norman. I love his relationships with both Sandy and Mindy, and find them to be both believable and heartwarming. I hope if there are subsequent seasons, Martin sticks around!
  11. I am glad that the Unbelt lady got a deal as well. I actually have 5 or so of these belts in different colours, bought 2-4 years ago. The first name of the product was Flatter Me Belts, which I actually thought was a better name. In any case they are so comfortable, and I like that the buckle lies flat and does not protrude under your clothes if you are wearing something over the belt. I dislike Manjit more every year. She really is insufferable. Has she ever been able to get through an episode without rolling her eyes at someone - usually a fellow dragon? This time I think it was Lane who was the object of her disdain because he was worried about kids with regards to the Tasty Buds. Frankly the product made no sense to me. If you don't smoke weed, you likely have no use for a novelty chocolate that looks like it. If you do smoke weed, you likely want the real thing. I can only guess that they are positioning themselves to enter the edibles market, and that is their real interest. But I think Lane is quite right to think that kids could be attracted to this, especially when the come out with a version that actually contains weed. Excuse me while I roll my eyes at Manjit. I also agree that she is worse than Kevin. Kevin may have pulled "You're dead to me" once too often, or told a pitcher that their idea was garbage, but he wasn't disrespectful to his fellow Dragons. He also has a sense of humour about himself. It is funny that you mention Kevin, aemon, as I was just thinking that I like Kevin on Shark Tank way more than I like Cuban, who I also think is an arrogant asshole the majority of the time.
  12. I see Carole hasn't changed a bit - still trying way too hard. So Carole panicked over forgetting to pack her favourite vibrator? That's not even first world problems. That's shallow person's (Carole to a T) problems. I wonder if anyone has asked if it is dishwasher safe?
  13. I think the name Rose Gold is lovely, and don't see why Steve's daughter would get teased. As others have said, in this day and age when parents often go out of their way to give their kids unique names or odd spellings, it will likely be a pretty tame name in the scheme of things. While I would be very surprised if Luis is not back in New York in another year, I really hope he is not brought back on the show. I don't know how Ryan held his tongue when Luis explained that he did not answer Ryan's calls or texts because he was spending every minute with his daughter, How he could say that to someone who also has a baby daughter, but has managed to be professional and still take care of his clients, is beyond me. Also while I know Luis is not the first parent to claim that their child saved their life, it is a lot of responsibility to put on a child, and not something that I ever think is a good thing to say. I love Tyler as well. I find him to be very endearing, and love that he is so open about his past. Good on him, and I wish him all the success in the world. I look forward to seeing Tyler again next season, hopefully.
  14. IIRC the doctor did get an offer from Kevin and after some negotiating accepted it. But I agree, I am not a fan of Mark's at the best of times. I do agree that the doctor would have reacted the same to anyone who was trying to talk as he was totally flummoxed (perfect word for it) by Mark's reaction. I don't think he was necessarily reacting to Lori (or not reacting as the case may be) though I do think that once his fixation on Mark was pointed out, he did nothing to correct his behavior.
  15. I often think that I have learned enough on these shows to get away with murder. It surprised me that Anne went to such lengths to set up her hubby's fling, but made some glaring errors, She obviously was not a true crime addict. After seeing the state that some of these crime scenes are in - not because of the crime, but due to really lousy housekeeping practices - I sometimes wonder when I leave my house "If this becomes a crime scene, am I going to be happy with how the house looks in the crime scene photos?" Please tell me that I am not the only one who does this - lol.
  16. I did think that the doctor was ignoring Lori, so I don't blame her for being PO'd. OTOH Mark's comment made no sense in relation to the fact that doctors do over prescribe antibiotics. Nor did Mark's reaction to the fact that the guy is no longer practicing. Usually the sharks want someone to quit their day job to work at their company full time. Sheesh.
  17. I agree that Bronte and her whole kit and kaboodle are as fake as fake can be. Dr Deb, who is the weirdest of all, is actually likely the most genuine of the bunch. I think she is as flaky as she presents. Bronte and creepy hubby are posers who are dragging their children along for the ride. Poor kids. Emily and Kelly as as fake as the rest. I am sure that Emily cooked up the whole "dancing in LV for my hubby" storyline with her friend who's husband owns the hotel. I am pretty sure that most of us here know that Shane would not be interested in watching his wife dance in a LV show in front of an audience. I don't for a minute think that Emily thought he would either, but she needed a storyline. Kelly's relationship with Dr Brian was also fake. She was using him as much as he was using her for exposure for his business. Calling him numerous times a day at his practice is just pathetic, and shows what a narcissistic, needy person Kelly is. But Brian deserved her, since he didn't appear to want anything more than free advertising. The person I am most disappointed in is Shannon. Her daughters must be embarrassed by how she has often lowered herself to Tamra's level of behaviour, all to prove that she is happy happy happy. They are all fake, and seem to have a degree of desperation to stay relevant (or what they consider to be relevant). Circling the drain maybe does that to a person?
  18. Not only would you think a parent would not want to take a sick kid to run errands, but also as a mom you would not have wanted your husband to take the sick kid to run errands so that you could lie down and rest, which is what David's excuse was. You would want your husband to care for the kid at home while you rested. Also why would David want to take a sick kid to a park to play? For an alibi, of course. And of course there was his unwillingness to try to help Belinda once he "found" her. Or help his unborn child for that matter. Of course he knew they were long gone. David really should have practiced his fake crying while waiting in jail. He scrunched up face with no tears, and then direct look at the camera during his trial was pathetic. Evan was very disconnected it appeared from his mother's death. When showing pictures of him as a child in court, he just kept smiling at how cute he apparently thought he was. I would imagine David and mistress turned wife/step mommy did a good job over the years of erasing any memory of her from his mind. I read a book several years ago called "Shattered" about this case. It brought up many other points that pointed to David's guilt. This case it seems has appeared here and other similar type threads several times. I can't believe it still isn't over. It is too bad that the penalty phase cannot be decided by a judge.
  19. Corey and Coty's mother was amazing. Can you imagine her taking in Nazreen the first time, and then taking her to a friend's home after her father (which I think they both thought was the case right away) has killed your son? I wish they had said how/where Nazreen is now. I hope she has been able to have the life she wanted, albeit without her beloved husband. Though for all we know she may be hiding since her father quite likely has other sons ready to carry out her father's wishes. I really wish that they had not given Ali any air time to continue to spread his lies. He got away with murder once, and to give him any time to continue to play the victim was distasteful to me. I did really enjoy that two of the three prosecutors were female, as well as the judge in the case.
  20. For me that brings up even more questions. Bronte said that she and her hubby are on the board, and also donate money to the school. I assume that it is her three oldest as I think the twins just started school (though don't know what grades this school accommodates). So is it is normal for a family to be able to send all of their kids to this tuition free charter school? Or more likely if you donate money as well, over a family that may not be able to donate money to the school? Interesting.
  21. I am still confused as to what type of school Bronte's kids go to. Is it really a public school if Bronte and her hubby are sitting on a board of some sort, and donating money to it? She seemed to think that because it received government funding that meant it was a public school. I don't know the school system in the states, but the province where I live in Canada funds private schools up to a certain amount as long as the school meets certain criteria and standards for the students. But they are not public schools. And the public schools do not have a board made up of parents. I felt (like Gina did) that Bronte was in a passive aggressive way putting Gina down with her public school comment. As if to say, don't worry if you can't afford to pay privately for whatever your child might need, as the public school will provide. When in reality Gina is already paying since her child is not yet in school. As much as Gina bugs me, I am sure it is hard for her to realize that she is not going to have the lifestyle she was expecting. Even last year when she and Matt were separated, she said that Matt would always provide for her and the kids, FF to now, and he not only doesn't have a job but is suing her for child support (which I suppose will be shown if this season runs long enough?). I would think her melt down is because she thought Bronte was rubbing her lack of money in her face, And I think Bronte was as well.
  22. Not only that, but when Bronte called Kelly to report on the tea party, she said that the girls were talking about her fight with Brian. In reality, one mentioned the bar fight, someone else asked if that is when they broke up because there was a post on social media that disappeared the next day, and Bronte started talking about a fight that Brian and Kelly had at a friend's place. Shannon then said that they heard it was at a bar, and Bronte said that she didn't know about that one, but continued her story about Brian and Kelly's fight at her friend's house. So Bronte made sure that they all knew about that fight, but then told Kelly that the girls were talking about her fight with Brian when in fact she is the one who told the others. Bronte is as big of a shit stirrer as the rest of them.
  23. I actually loved Gina in this episode- mostly because she called Bronte on her shit. I loved in her TH when Gina said that Bronte has Pain In The Ass-itis. Very common in Orange County, no known cure. Priceless. While Gina can have it herself at times, Bronte has a raging case, 24/7. I had no idea what a magnet school is (never heard of them, but then we do not have that type of school/term in Canada, though do have private schools). However it seems to me that any school that has parents on a board, and giving money to the school, is not a public school under the normal definition of a public school. So Bronte is allergic to nuts? Explains her relationship with her mother right there. Never thought I would say this, but the cancer scammer saved this episode for me. Vicki dressed up and playing royalty in all her narcissism was just priceless. With the last several newbies - Kelly, Gina, Emily and the waste-of-space that is Bronte, dare I say that I miss Vicki?
  24. Oh I totally understand a general POA. It is what I had with my mom, and what my husband and I have with each other. (I live in Canada, at at the time we did ours I don't remember there being any other kind, but maybe there is and we just didn't need an alternative). However I would never with my husband or would have with my mother make such big decisions when they are/were perfectly capable of making them themselves. Especially in this case where what Darlene decides impacts the whole family. I don't blame Jackie and Becky for being PO'd.
  25. Obviously everyone's opinion on what is talent differs, but I doubt there are many who would think that Mend (sorry too lazy to type out his full name) wasn't talented. I think most 4 chair turns would be considered talented if they are good enough to appeal to all 4 coaches, I supposed part of the reason coaches do this is the element of surprise, but it turns me off and is one of the reasons I rarely make it through a whole season. My question about the steal comment was because Carson did not say it with regards to Mend, even though at least two coaches did have steals left. I know he wasn't stolen - that part was obvious. What wasn't obvious and I still don't know that answer to is why Carson didn't say he was available to steal, so assume it was edited out? Edited to add, I do agree with you about Katie though, so there is that. She is just way too loud and aggressive, and I can't imagine listening to a whole album of that kind of noise.
