  1. mac123x, you could be right. That's just the kind of thing that makes Moffat think he's brilliant. And I have a feeling he will continue to hit us over the head with it somehow.
  2. I didn't see anything interesting about Journey Blue (except her name). And I don't care if we never see her again. She wouldn't be a more interesting companion than any of Moffat's creations. But knowing how subtle he is, there has to be something to the Pink and Blue thing. I hope Danny and Clara aren't some repeated version of Amy and Rory. Oh wait, Missy is going to be their daughter!! (just kidding.)
  3. I was hoping Conrad was having a nightmare. Bringing back David is a really stupid idea. Would he be a bad guy now? Lurking in the background while his daughter is seeking revenge? Stupid, stupid stupid!! The show just seemed like it was getting back on track.
  4. I really liked Clara, right from the beginning, and even to last week's episode. I found it believable that she would be upset at a new Doctor. Not only a new face, but a really different personality. It was maybe a little overdone, especially with the age thing, but tolerable to me. But this week she really grated on me. And it wasn't just Clara. EVERYTHING seemed forced. Clara slapping the doctor came out of nowhere. Journey wanting to join the Doctor came out of nowhere. Clara breezing off to her date so nonchalantly struck me as suddenly very shallow. As previously said, the episode was dour, and yet it lacked depth (not that Moffat is good at depth). I want to like PC but so far the writing for him is not memorable and it doesn't help that his delivery is very monotone (I do have my closed captioning on). I really hope next week's episode gives me something to cheer about.
  5. I didn't like this episode as much as last week. And I think it was too soon to have a Dalek episode. Seeing previews for next week, I would have rather had that episode before this one. I kept waiting for some reference to Clara being a Dalek. I guess Moffat is going to hit us over the head every week with the Missy stuff, like he did with the crack in the wall.
  6. This show was just marginal for me anyway. I don't have any history with Sean Bean. But the iron scene and the stuff in the eye did me in. I think I'm out.
  7. I thought that was way out of character for the Doctor (Moffat being self-indulgent again). Even though I liked River in the beginning, Moffat completely ruined her character. I hope to never see her again.
  8. I don't know who she is but I suspect she's going to be something like a River Song character. Someone who knows the Doctor in a way that only Moffat can dream up in his continual rewriting of Doctor Who history. I thought the set that was used for the Missy scene looked like the virtual reality place where River Song ended up. Interesting about the boyfriend comment but I don't see that as a Clara comment. The dialogue went like this. Doctor: I'm not your boyfriend. Clara: I never said you were. Doctor: I never said it was your mistake. That implied to me that Moffat made it sound like Eleven was the one who thought he was Clara's boyfriend.
  9. I adore Clara. I think she's going to be wonderful with twelve. I loathed the Amy saga and was so happy when that ended. And Jenna Coleman is a much better actress. She has such an expressive face. Some of the writing for her hasn't been the best but I think she has risen above her material. Moffat was obviously infatuated with Karen Gillan. And now that both she and 11 are gone, I think Moffat can concentrate on giving Clara better character development (as much as Moffat can give anyone character development since everything is a plot device to him. Even Amy. Oh look, she's River's MOTHER!).
  10. I'm so happy to hear that. I thought the River stuff became more and more convoluted (to borrow your word) as the Matt Smith era progressed. I'm glad the initial reactions to Twelve are so positive. I'm ready for a new Doctor!
  11. I already replied to this, but then I thought, my favorite episode of all time is The Day of the Doctor (50th Anniversary Special). I don't think anyone else has mentioned it. if so, I apologize. I have a question for anyone who has the DVD. I understand they've included the 7 minute Paul McGann mini episode on the DVD, and also something called The Last Day. Does anyone know what that's about? Oh sorry, RandomMe and proserpina65. I just saw that you both mentioned The Day of the Doctor.
  12. I agree The Ultimate Companion seemed to be nothing but a rehash of stuff we've seen a hundred times. But I liked seeing David and using his native Scottish accent, no less. i also like Peter Davison. But you're right, the special following was much more interesting. I like Jenna Coleman and hope she stays past the Christmas special. I think Clara will be a good companion for the new doctor. I'm glad Moffat confirmed they are not going for a romance angle. But I don't want a repeat of Amy and Rory either. The way Jenna Coleman plays Clara has always reminded me of Sarah Jane Smith.
  13. I can't even take this comparison seriously. Olivia Dunham is for real (on a fantastic show). Audrey Parker and Haven are not even in the same ball park.
  14. Quote from Trey: Joey was a real sleazebag and deserved to have the crap kicked out of him, but not murdered. I thought the actual killing was pretty contrived. Probably the worst I've seen for this show. In real life, the 3 brothers (or at least two of them) would have kicked the crap out of that sleazebag. I did feel sorry for the sister. Was she charged with anything?
  15. My favorite Nine episode is Fathers Day. I love almost ALL of Ten (except Fear her and Love and Monsters). I especially love The Girl in the Fireplace, Blink, The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, Doomsday, Planet of the Ood, Turn Left, Journey's End, The End of Time (yes, just about all of them). I didn't like much of Eleven. No fault of Matt, just didn't like the Amy saga and the more I knew about River the less I even cared. But I did love Vincent and the Doctor and The Crimson Horror.
  16. I didn't mean that Donny's cheating came out of nowhere. That theme has been sort of running throughout most of the show. It was just the way it was done, with some random chick finding Donny so irresistible that she has to run up to him and give him her phone number. To make that believable they would have had spend a little more screen time on it to set it up. Interesting if it was supposed to be a prequel, but there was no real indication of that.
  17. That musical segment was actually creepy. Poor Sean Hannity. He got his feelings hurt. Awww.
  18. I hate the new subplot they've introduced with Donnie being tempted to cheat. It was not only poorly done, but came out of nowhere.
  19. Well, I guess I am the only one. I loved Rose with Nine. I loved Rose with Ten. I loved Rose in the alternate universe (I cried). I loved Martha with Ten. I loved Donna with Ten. I loved the progression and continuity of Russel T. Davis. I loved Bad Wolf in the 50th Anniversary Special.
  20. It was a fun segment. I love when he does those unexpected moments. Hope she gets the Colbert bump (and not just for her book)!
  21. i was pulling for Branch all the way. It seemed like he was being so maligned this season by some posters. There were a lot of times I didn't even like Walt. He's kind of a one dimensional, self righteous character, whereas Branch is multi-layered.
  22. I loved The Poisonwood Bible. I think Barbara Kingsolver is such a gifted writer. Another of her books I loved is Flight Behavior. I'm currently reading her book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. It's a nonfiction book about her family's year of trying to eat only food they raise or that is grown locally. I also loved The Night Circus. It was magical and beautifully written.
