Whoopi Goldberg: EGOT Winner, So Why Is She Here?
NextIteration replied to Lisin's topic in The View
I am under no illusion that anyone is being phased out. I'm sure these were serious contracts and the departure of folks from the show have always been when there contracts were actually up, except for Ro's early departure the first time by a few weeks. The uncomfortable departures were when contracts were not renewed to surprise of the co-host, imho. We've been told that RosieP would be out for an extended time since the get go - so now it's that time frame. Unless whatever Whoopi is experiencing does turn out to be a months long ordeal, and for her sake I hope it doesn't - back issues are terrible and I honestly don't wish them on anyone - I don't think it's anything except what they are representing it to be, to my disappointment. I was under the impression though - that the new crew were signed to one year deals and Whoopi is on the last year of her previously negotiated deal. I'll be happy to see evidence that my thinking is completely off kilter though! There is manufactured buzz all over - but I think this is pretty straightforward and I do believe that Whoopi and Rosie have been given some kind of marching orders to make it work... better than it has been. -
Complaint Central: Don't Tweet Whoopi About It

Here was today's submission: -
I'm ashamed and evil, when they said Whoopi had a bulging disc I whooped and yelled surgery and long recovery. I'm going to hell. Another wonderful show, I do enjoy the serious topics but today was just plain fun. I'm still giggling about the Marcus Bachmann references, yes, former congress critter spouse Michele is embarrassingly from the district over. Speaking of Palin - those two were hideous on tour together. And I gotta say I agree with Nicolle's alarm at TLC and the show they discussed, but I appreciated Rosie's point about it being some people's reality. It was nice to have she and Mario's perspectives. Love Kathy Griffin....

Complaint Central: Don't Tweet Whoopi About It
NextIteration replied to RogerFromOhio's topic in The View
I left my thoughts about how great the show was today as well. -
No I don't remember the woman but I didn't watch much until the new season started. My apologies for not knowing Tony Gonzales, I stopped watching American Football about a decade ago so I'm way out of the loop. Between my horrible home team and my disgust with the NFL over their hide-the-ball nonsense regarding concussion/TBI issues I completely lost interest. Don't get me wrong, I used to be a huge fan, Sundays during football season were sacred growing up and early in my marriage, but I just lost interest as I said, which makes me clueless. ;)

I'm sure it was a last minute scramble to find someone to cover the Stuart Scott topic, but it seemed odd that they chose a CBS NFL broadcaster and not someone from ESPN, since Disney owns ESPN as well as ABC.
-
That's probably why I thought it, but not why I refused to watch it. That, would be Woody Allen. I should probably get over it, but I probably never will. Stuart Scott is the ESPN Sportscenter broadcaster that passed away.

Every word of this x 1,000,000. A breath of fresh air is just what I was going to say. What a fantastic episode. This? Is exactly what I thought we were going to get when the new crew was announced last summer. Even Nicolle's regurgitated GOP talking points did not irritate, since they are just that, and not the extreme nonsense we used to get with Bitsy. Ro said cognitive dissonance and mentioned The New Jim Crow, I'm doing a happy dance. If you haven't read it, it's really good. I'll have to watch La Vie en Rose, I don't know why but I thought this was a Woody Allen movie so, well, yeah. You can do the math on that. Margaret Cho was wonderful as well. More of this please! eta: Silly sportscaster dude I've never heard of? What exactly is DeBlasio supposed to apologize for? That was irritating.
-
I can't fathom what DeBlasio said or did that so incited the NYPD, but I do know union negotiations are going on and this is an excellent excuse/leverage. I think the behavior of the NYPD that turned their backs and some of the union leaders is despicable. No wonder Joe approves.
-
grumble grumble grumble! It's one thing to "stunt cast" dance trained actors like Christina Applegate, but this nonsense (with the exception of Palmer) just makes me want to hurl. I know, I'm a broken record.

Not in the emotional intelligence department. And that, is what counts an awful lot in this situation. Whoopi can't seem to grasp that she's doing very poorly as a moderator and that she comes off as a bitter pontificating bully, whereas, Rosie seems to understand that the audience is not liking what they are getting from the show in total. It's clear that Rosie is extremely frustrated with Whoopi and her antics, all you have to do is watch Rosie's body language and the way she is curling her paper and trying her hardest not to shoot back in a rant of frustration at Whoopi. As @backformore stated above, Whoopi won't listen to anyone else, even when the other's opinion is a hair's breath away from hers, she refuses to discuss things in a manner that would prove that to her. There were subtle and not so subtle indications of these traits in Whoopi before with the Michael Vick and rape-rape stuff, but with others around her to challenge her more properly now it's just not working for her. I find it pretty ironic as well that her hippy-liberal cred is down the tubes, when the co-host that she seems to mesh with the best is Nicolle. And that makes complete sense to me, since I've always seen her as a left-leaning Libertarian and not a Liberal at all.

I'm going to hope and pray that she bought him some ridiculously priced Spyder jacket and that instead of spending another $800 on a jacket again, that she will send money in some form so he can head on over to Burlington Coat Factory for something more practical, otherwise? Ew, Sherri you are totally gross for crying poor on Twitter.

Yes I meant the premiere, I think it has been on New Years Day the last couple years, but that would place it on a Thursday so I guess I understand why it is the 6th. Additionally, prior to the premiere is a "Girl Talk" episode, sans Chloe I'm pretty sure.
-
What? Not New Year's Day? Hasn't it been that the last couple years?

Why does Joe speak like the only other protests other than Ferguson are in NY? It sickens me that there is a conflation of the brutal assassination of two NYPD officers by a disturbed individual with peaceful protests against the racism and injustice in our system. And that Pat Lynch from the NYPD Union is just terrible. DeBlasio may not be perfect, but blaming him for this incident is just beyond, and the media like Joe shoving this conflation and false equivalency in our faces is heinous. eta: Chris and Rachel will always act as if Joe does not exist. And it was widely known that the horse's ass Joe thought he could take the seat at MTP, which is an utter joke, but then MTP has been a complete hot mess since before Russert passed.

If a person acts whatever their "problem* is, to a victim it's a stupid distinction without a difference. And it's muddy anyways, there are legions of married pedophiles with children.
-
...and let the bleating begin. Can we get the 411 on the shooter and if he was a nutcase before we blame protesters?
-
In my mind anyway, she went to check on RO to make sure she was not completely losing it. The whole segment disgusted me, he's a fucking child molester (pedophile), period.end.of.discussion.

They did, I didn't have the patience to make it through all the holeymoley commercials to see the entire interview, not for nothing, I wish you could log on through your ISP and avoid some of that crap.
-
Ah, thanks @OnceSane, I was sketchy watching the 2nd and 3rd seasons of the show so I don't know the details of everyone. No, that doesn't sound like a great idea either.
-
No, not you, but I just can't quit it :( sort of like The Spew.
-
Me three! I could pull it off too, I'm 5'. :P

After her outburst on Thursday, I'm not so sure. I hope you are correct because this is getting painful to watch. Hopefully the break will give them both some time to I'm not sure what, look at tapes and reconsider the track they are going down.
-
She calls lots of people "baby" and I don't find it to be an endearment from her, it's a placeholder and it comes off as very condescending anymore.
