I was thinking that a month or so ago, but as time has gone on, I think it's more about the bar being raised and Whoopi not being able to rise with it - or that all of these annoying tics of hers are much more noticeable now that most want to hear what the other co-hosts have to say over the nonsense that we got from Bitsy, Sherri and Jenny (and Barbara).

I'm tiring of the Whoopi Goldberg Hour (™ someone smarter than I in the last couple weeks). Conceptually I'm struggling with the 40 minutes of Hot Topics and the two minute interviews, it's really lopsided and the guests feel cut off all the time, and that's not just down to Whoopi's horrendous transitions. Brooke sounded sick, but what surprised me was her neck/chin area. Whoopi's half assed defense of Bill Cosby was annoying but I do get how awkward that must feel to have a famous friend that is accused of something horrific, but they were all throwing shade regarding the lack of reporting to the police and rape kits. The Parker story was cute, I hope it was real. I'm really struggling here...

What did Nicolle say about Homeland? Carrie is really unlikable this season in a million ways no matter how sympathetic her character is - having a mental illness. I don't want to detail how yucky she's been this season in case it would spoil anyone, but she's been pretty awful as a character this season.

Future Dance Stars, or Abused Pawns?: The Girls
NextIteration replied to Rhondinella's topic in Dance Moms
@kathe5133, I don't disagree with you, but much of what you are saying is also leveled at Mia Michaels whom I know is also controversial but is one of my daughter's favorite master class teachers. She was also a "big girl" that decided as a child of parents that owned a dance studio that she preferred choreographing over dancing, she does move a lot more than Abby Lee, but depends heavily on demonstrators. -
I chalked up the one day appearance as a test of her strength with a weekend to recoup after, I've done similar things after a bad illness before myself. The sitting the kids down thing, this is where the confusion about wording regarding cancer comes up for me, was it something cancerous that could just be removed - as in something that doesn't metastasize if it's one type as opposed to something that does if it's another? I know that's what happened with my mom's lung cancer, once cut out it was gone, no chemo or radiation, but that was all dependent on how it biopsied. Any other type than what she had, would have been a different story. But yes, why worry the children beyond "Mommy has to have surgery and will need her rest to recover" until anything else was established. My bet it was just one more of Bitsy's kid "stories". I would hope, that if it was cancer that she'd be more revealing in the interest of raising awareness, since she's beyond whatever it was. But Bitsy's never been what I'd call a humanitarian.

So not a Bitsy fan, but she did look very emotional in both the opening block and the block with Sherri. Clearly whatever was going rattled her, but I am under no illusion that it will change one thing about her political beliefs and her willingness to say anything for a buck. She's led a privileged life and will continue to do so, judging others all the way. Now that she has a clean bill of health, the snark is on.

There have been little leaks about Cosby for years, I'm really quite surprised if true (and it appears to be) that he's managed to keep a lid on this for so long. It's so disturbing. :( Also, since I delete the crap from my dvr without watching, did the all-knowing Whoopi discuss the disturbing cultural appropriation, racism and sexism displayed by Kim Kartrashian this week? Wait, maybe I did catch Nicolle talking about how "smart" Kim is and what an excellent business woman she's become with her branding. Idiots.

I haven't watched a second since Whoopi told us all about how awful high school curricula are and that kids read Anne Frank but are not taught the history that surrounds WWII and the Holocaust. This is such utter bullshit. I'm old enough though, to remember when High School text books were white washed from much of the truth of the bad things the US has done, for example during WWII - the Japanese interment camps. Or the shit we pulled in South America, or Iran, or, or, or. All things I did not learn until I got into college. I'm so fucking tired of the trope that schools are doing a horrible job these days and not teaching as well as they did back in the day, it's utter nonsense. My kids were taking Trig 2 in ninth grade which most of us didn't see until 11th or 12th grade if at all back in the day. The depth with which they study history is amazing to me, and they are reading literature that I wasn't exposed to until college. This is in an International Baccalaureate programme, but with AP classes all over the place as well, it's just so much bullshit. My kids also were taught how to correctly site sources and do footnotes in 1st grade so that it wouldn't be intimidating later on. All in a "mediocre" public school district. I may try to watch next week when Ro is back, but I'm really not sure.

Tee hee, I'm older than Joe and I was there at the beginning and through it all with The Replacements.

Rhodes Scholar Reporting the News Show Discussion

@shok point very well made, and it has been reported that the Administration has signaled that it is happy to wait with AG hearings/confirmation. The Surgeon General situation is pitiful, as well as ATF? I think. All this obstructionism has been terrible all around. -
Girl is seriously werkin' it! I guess as a single mom, she needs to bring home the bacon! ;) I wonder if Elisabeth will tell us what's up, I reserve the right to snark on her in the future, but right now as a human, I'm still hoping it isn't breast cancer.

Sigh, I just don't know what to think anymore as a progressive. I'm pragmatic enough to understand the Blue-dogs in a 50 state strategy, but what I do not understand is this whipped dog stance for the lame duck. The Attorney General is a key cabinet position and Reid isn't allowing that, but we are getting the freaking Keystone Pipeline vote? And why in all that is holy, do these congresscritters not work more than a flipping week a month? Maybe I should just take a two-year nap. -
The horse is dead. My point is and always will be, this is the View we are talking about, not some cable news show. And place S.E. Cupp in the cast and see how you feel.

She was Johnny-on-the-spot (as in this was the day the news about Panetta's book and interviews was breaking) and it was clear that she'd heard both sides, the hand-wringing "betrayal" claims of the left and the "this is what we've been saying all along" of the right. She was also about a bit of trouble making inferring that it's pretty clear that Panetta intends to be a surrogate for Hillary if she chooses to run. Her "full monty" is bloviating with Joe Scarborough from time to time and her repeated assertion that Obama had huge majorities in both houses and didn't accomplish a thing! The only time I ever saw her anywhere near snarling or attacking was in the last throes of the McCain campaign. I've also seen her make an idiot of herself on Real Time, so there's that as well.

Equality for women and how to find you power as the daughter of a well respected foreign policy leader from the Carter administration while taking ambien, preening in front of a camera, being submissive to a blowhard on 800 calories a day after running five miles around Manhattan.

Nothing @TribbleTrouble it's weird, with an election and all the rightful gloating she could be doing. My cursory check for Elisabeth across the internet turned up the same stuff that was out there last week when we talked about this. Recent article about the damage that Jenny has wrought.

Chuck Todd is no Tim Russert or Chris Matthews. Neither of them were/are perfect but it's like an Everest between them and douchey Chuck Todd. Gwen Ifill for MTP!!!

Dream change, swap out RosieP for Eva Longoria and swap moderator and give Whoopi a blunt before each show. I know, never in a million years...

As a mom of two kids who as babies were easy to take anywhere that became toddlers and children from hell in public, we learned a lot about take out. I was the mom with the kid having a full out meltdown tantrum in Target that would swoop her little ass up and out of the store, leaving the full cart behind. After she figured out that her toy got left behind a few times, the behavior somewhat diminished but it didn't completely go away until she was pre-pubescent. This is just my PSA that some kids actually have issues and do the very best that they can. When I see this now, I smile and ask if I can help in any way. It's hard to waste hours trying to shop and then walking away only to return late at night. The show is boring, it's been 3 for 3 in a row, it was barely sputtering along and w/o Ro it's just boring. I do not like boxing, I do not care to hear about it every week.

The spouse is participating here as well, I'll be interested to see what 11/30 brings. It's actually a worthy cause to bring attention to, spouse had very aggressive prostate cancer and that's a topic that you don't really understand, until you are in the thick of it, sadly.

Her presentation about Panetta was going on all over the media, the Right-Wing media was going to exploit this rift and criticism for all it's worth to make Obama look bad, on the other side, there was much hand wringing, gnashing of teeth and accusations of a betrayal. This was the third book, Gates, Clinton and finally Panetta making a lot of the same observations about Obama's foreign policy and military mistakes. Personally, I've known of and watched Nicolle for the better part of eight years and what I remember about her appearances as a surrogate for McCain was that she was nowhere near as caustic, abrasive or annoying as Nancy Pfotenhaur or Carly Fiorina. I'm not hoodwinked by her, she clearly gets the Ailes memo daily but again, her presentation of the talking points is much more subtle, which I guess to some makes her more dangerous. She's a Republican and I expect her behave as one. And for the record, I like to look at things from different points of view, as long as they are not presented in an obnoxious and insulting manner.

CNN is terrible, I think it was Saturday morning when they were discussing the President's trip to China, Marty Savage referred to him as Mr. Obama, I find this sort of reference as completely disrespectful towards the office.

Neither is spending a few years dancing in a small company, but many dancers have that as a goal because they love dance. It has nothing to do with fame, money or glamour and everything to do with dance being a a core part of who they are. The benefits for kids that take ballet or studio dance from elementary to high school are also immeasurable, it gives them poise, public speaking skills (no fear of performing for an audience) and keeps them in excellent athletic shape whilst teaching them valuable time management skills for the rest of their lives. Colleges also take such long commitments to an activity very seriously in the application process.

Awe Stafford, I feel you. It's just depressing all around from the terrible ads, to the resultant low turnout, to the end result. It confounds me how Americans don't go out and vote their actual pocketbooks or vital interests, every single election. Even my state, which usually leads the nation in turnout, barely scraped over 50%. I have to wonder about the ads though, never in history have I seen so many nasty ads for so many different contests. Sure, the Bachmann ads were nasty as were the Coleman v Franken ads but for every single contest? That Citizens United money is a blight. The Minneapolis market also got flooded with Walker's filth. Thank gawd for dvrs! Anyways, Joe is being his same bloviating know it all self, and I'm really not sure if I can bare this anymore. His ego is stomach turning.

Welp, at least we can make some sparks even if the show isn't.
