I'm not gonna lie, this is my darkest dirtiest teevee secret pleasure. And these are two of the reasons - and I think it's the most pathetic depths and brilliant unintended comedy. Initially I hated Drita and I too am tired of her always talking about getting violent, thing is, she hasn't in a long time. She's now may favorite and she and Big Ang together are great. Karen, Renee and Natalie are nuts, full stop. All for different reasons. To be fair about AJ (do both Big Ang and Renee have AJs?), this is Renee's son - she said she sent him to live with her father, not his father, I thought anyways. Laughs, now I'm confused and I deleted the episode. Anyways, my impression was that he was sent to live with a grandfather. I really liked the moment in this episode where Drita and Big Ang were talking about how Riker's right now might wake Big Ang's son up and the analogy to what Lee needed. One of the few genuine moments we've gotten on this show. ...now I know I'm crazy too. Hangs head.

Positing an opinion about the appearances of both Cantone and Shepherd, yes, Nicolle is now on The Spew but I think it's more about Joe. Bear with me here. Back when Joe had Scarborough Country he spent weeks on end analyzing, criticizing and pontificating against Rosie O'Donnell the year she was on The View. Joe absofuckinglutely hates Rosie O'Donnell, with the passion of 10,000 suns, Willie was often right there with him. I think it's about sending a message to Rosie by ignoring her, which is so stupid because I'm sure she couldn't give a shit about Joe Scarborough. (Also of note, a few weeks into the season Thomas had one of his "calls" on Way Too Early with Whoopi, supposedly to clear the air about early contentiousness on The View.) That's my opinion and theory anyways, maybe I'm crazy. We'll see how it plays out as this season of The View plays out. Right now, honestly, Whoopi and Joe could team up because their opinions on a lot of recent events are the same. Shocking, I know. ;) Mika sucking up to of all people, Sherri Shepherd was absolutely stomach turning. I did enjoy the Steve Madden block, I had no idea about his life.

Here's the deal with Morning Joe, Mika sets herself out to be above it all - generally she gets all prudish about trash gossip, once famously walking off the set regarding Paris Hilton that summer that she was such a mess. That was the summer that the show was in testing after MSNBC dropped Don Imus over his filthy Rutgers women's basketball team remarks. Now, the show is tanking fast in the ratings and is throwing everything at the wall trying to crawl out of the gutter, ironically, it seems that they are taking from pop culture to do it. Mika gushing to Sherri, I looooove you is in the show's previous context, the height of hypocrisy. Morning Joe, used to be, the show that all the "smart people" watched. Not anymore, now it's just Joe's Spew, kind of like The Spew is now the Whoopi Goldberg Hour.

Who knew watching today's taped show was the perfect antidote to yesterday's show. I love Marjorie, it's always fun to hear her references to home. The Y she referenced is where my kids had daycare for a couple summers; she lives just blocks away from the primary/middle school they attended. She is a much loved touchstone in our area; happy to hear how wonderful her grandsons are doing! I'm so miffed at Whoopi it even annoyed me that she was cuing in Rosie's kids, leave that for RO to do thank you very much. I chuckled at Mario but I can see how he might grate,

...and now I watched the show. sigh Whoopi is a dumb-assed bully, full stop. My girl Laverne, brought up implicit bias again. Yaaas. I sort of adhere to the power-based definition of racism personally, and the rest I see as prejudice, bigotry and implicit bias. I'm not saying that my way is correct or the best way, I'm just old school like that. ;) None of that excuses Whoopi for telling us stupid white folks that we don't know what racism is. Laverne, once again in a tense topic was spot on. Nicolle was spewing the Republican talking point about us being post racial since we elected a black man twice as POTUS. Bless you RO, you stood your ground but you weren't the bully, Whoopi was. I thought that RO's exit was very discreet from the Stephen Collins topic with Katie, it hurts my heart that somebody on that show thought that booking was a good idea. She came back strong with Niki Minaj so all was good. A break from the Whoopi Goldberg Hour will be a good thing, I'm off to find the clips of RO on Letterman.

She was just nasty with Louis, talking about making love, asking about his credit and non-disclosures and pre-nups. Shit gets old.
-
I haven't watched it yet, but wow, there is a lot of reaction to yesterday's show. Laverne Cox brought up implicit bias the last time that she co-hosted. I don't think that Whoopi would understand what implicit bias was, if it smacked her in the head. And that's the trouble, sometimes it isn't really outright racism, but it is chalk full of our implicit biases. I'm sure I'll feel differently after I watch the episode, and I'll watch it, not listen to it. One thing I know for a fact, with every passing day, Whoopi chooses to be willfully ignorant on a lot of topics, and she's a damn bully. Here is a photo of Rosie with Ellis from the summer of 2013. I can't even believe that they had a segment of anyone promoting a Stephen Collins segment on any show, let alone a white wash of the situation, no wonder RO was triggered.
-
I don't understand why, but Sherri is coming up on Morning Joe. I can't tell you how much Scarborough mocked her about the flat earth thing, but since Nicolle is on The View, and Joe despises RO, anything goes? Mario Cantone was on yesterday. (Thomas Roberts had a call in with Whoopi months ago.) Go figure.

WTF is this, The Spew? Do none of these idiots at the table know the legislative history of running for two offices at once? The first time a state legislature was lobbied to change the books to allow for two state-wide federal offices was by Lyndon Johnson. Since then, off the top of my head, we've had Biden, Kerry, Ryan, Mondale. I see 3 winners from this, Johnson, Mondale and Biden. IDIOTS.

I thought her Challah sweatshirt/sweater thing the day before also had a "message" in it. Neither of them pleasant. I'm so done with her, I haven't watched yesterday's show yet.

Lori Klausutis. New Morning Joe coffee chugging meme... but Rolling Stone! Or did somebody already mention this? Anyways, here comes the caffeine buzz. Because now it's Sony, but Rolling Stone!

I remarked about this the other day, Johns Hopkins is on the Title IX investigation list and has had a couple awful incidents in the last couple years. I don't know how she thinks it could never happen to her daughters, it's just stupid and naive.

Joe needs to get together with Whoopi Goldberg.

Oh for crying out loud, you should have warned me about snarling Cheney! j/k Laughs at Fox poking at Todd, he's a "fair and balanced" false equivalency douche just like everyone at Fox. Bitsy and her word salad, no wonder she and Palin are such pals. "Today, right now in a chocolate shop, ISIS blah de blah blah blah..." It was clear during the early morning shows that the networks knew who this guy was but weren't releasing information about him, turns out he is a self-styled SHIA cleric, out on bail from the killing of his ex-wife. ISIS, is a Sunni organization - so it was clear he was a deranged lone wolf, who were they supposed to torture for information, Bitsy?

They would. Jezebel absolutely and resolutely rejects rape culture. Which is why I just can't believe that Whoopi is getting away with her embrace of it, you want to point to a reason for dropping ratings, I think it might just be Whoopi. At least in some ways, our culture has evolved just a bit since the late 70s early 80s, sometimes it feels like baby steps, but it's happened.
-
I can't believe the building amount of rage I have about Whoopi. Who knew? She was worse than ever today. I can only take a small amount of comfort that the internet is starting to talk like we've been talking for weeks, I posted Jezebel's stab at Whoopi in the Media thread. Bless Beverly Johnson for tolerating that hot mess.

Oh without a doube CMH1981. Halperin and Heilemann (sp) were always on Morning Joe during that election as was Wallace. If you ever watch MJ they behave like Game Change was a group project and the movie is their personal little engine that could. They, being Mika and Joe.

Jezebel weighs in on Whoopi's incredulous behavior with Beverly Johnson.

RadarOnline Interestingly, Ron Burkle, is a Bill Clinton buddy. But no, the website has nothing to do with ABC or The View.
-
shok, yes, yes you did. He was pointing out that Nancy Pelosi and Jay Rockefeller were members of the "Gang of Eight" that the CIA periodically updated about the program. It's worth heading over to CSPAN to see what Sen. Rockefeller had to say about those updates.

Whoopi Goldberg: EGOT Winner, So Why Is She Here?
NextIteration replied to Lisin's topic in The View
What will Whoopi do/say now? Bill Cosby Drugged Me. This Is My Story. It doesn't get more A list than Beverly Johnson. -
It depends on the Award, definitely there are episode attributions for the Emmys for episodic shows.

To be fair Nicolle said she shut down her Twitter because it distracted her, sitting amongst her son and husband and reading random compliments about her hair. I thought she said 532 returns on Google, but I don't have a clue what her search was. She's indefensible on the topic of torture, between a rock and hard place having been communications director for Bush, and then representing McCain who gave a very moving speech yesterday on the floor of the Senate supporting the release of the report and slamming the use of torture, ever. It seemed like RO was confusing Abu Gharib (when she referenced Iraqis) with the CIA torture plan for high level detainees; easy enough to do since it seems like the CIA plan somehow trickled down to a few low level soldiers/guards through some contractors... wonder how that happened?
-
Excuse me Nicolle, nasogastric tube feedings to folks that are on a hunger strike (which is also torture, imho) are not the same as non-medically necessary forced food enemas, wrong end darling. Thank you RO for pointing out the sexual humiliation aspect of this and calling it what it is, rape.

I was curious how Senator Scott's opinions on the torture reports were even relevant, you know, since he was nowhere near the place at the time. My sympathies Landsnark. Yay for Ebola Workers, take that Christie, ya big-assed bully!
