I don't see it, I just don't. Wolff has been married to Alison Stewart for quite awhile, I see Naya being that skeevy - but I don't see her being Wolff's type, at all.

Future Dance Stars, or Abused Pawns?: The Girls
NextIteration replied to Rhondinella's topic in Dance Moms
@gimipizzauoldtroll - all I can say is that at least she is over her box. chuckles. The tummy and bum sticking out in either direction speaks for itself. -
Thanks for that link, hilarious!

Why does this stuff always get heated on Thursdays? Now we're hanging until Monday. I wish I better understood what RO's role is, I thought I remembered when the deal was being negotiated that she would have an integral production role, like it was negotiated for her to have that since Whoopi would be continuing as Moderator - a sharing of power so to speak. Who knows, and as far as RosieP goes, I just have to wonder if the hair and makeup thing leads back to her injury - and that it's just easier and less painful for her to do it herself instead of having someone poking and prodding at her, a diva, she has never struck me as. This is all disappointing, I was so excited for this season and it just seems like it's falling apart.

Waves at Taysa, so glad to hear your niece is still dancing and enjoying it. :) Learning new routines every week is highly unusual, the only thing I've experienced rarely is that sometimes a Sr solo or two may get done/finished pretty close to the beginning of competition season since they are deemed the quickest to learn and there is only so much time for privates. And I have seen coshtumes being customized up until they go on stage, but that's the exception not the rule. My experience is that a lot of the combinations that are in the choreography for the year, both recital and competition are learned during summer boot-camp and this is generally where auditions take place for the various teams. Some studios place a child on one level across all genres, others will place a child on different levels for different genres... since some kids excel at jazz but aren't as good at lyrical/contemporary or are good at everything but behind in tap. It just depends on the philosophy of the studio. Once auditions and placements are done, some studios begin work right away in August/September on their competition pieces, while others continue working on technique and Holiday programs - starting competition choreography later, like in December. It all depends on whether they bring numbers to the workshops, many of which take place in the fall. (At least in my area, most of them are in the fall with the pure competition season heating up in late February going through late May). Solos, some start right away in August on them, my daughter's last studio didn't start them until December - solo/duet/trio requests were due in November, but there were chosen solos by the director and teachers that were sometimes started a little earlier generally speaking. She usually had those privates over Winter Break and then started cleaning in January, her preference, she generally peaks at performing anything shortly after she's finished learning it and then gets bored - so that's her thing. Coshtumes and choreography - I think Abby plots out the season with genre themes and coshtumes ahead of time, they seem to use a mix of full custom, high end catalog, customized on top of dance basics and some general retail clothing as coshtumes. I'm sort of surprised that we aren't getting some sort of cohstume company promotion in the show, which makes me think that most of the catalog stuff they are using is from the "always available" sections of the catalog because ordering dance coshtumes takes anywhere from 4-12 weeks and can be a nightmare. I'm pretty sure that Abby has a few full time dressmakers close at hand. As stated above, Abby and Gianna forever take the same combinations and rehash them to new music so the kids aren't really required to learn anything new, except for a little twist here and there in their solos. Most studios do use the same pieces across all competitions in one season. I do know that we had a few pieces that crossed years because we had our youth ballet pieces and you can only enter so many dances of one type, so a few of our Nutcracker pieces crossed years as did a few of our other contemporary and classical ballet pieces, based on which competitions we attended. Generally, you don't ever repeat a dance at the same competition from year to year. What would be a really good twist but I don't think control freak Abby would ever allow it and I'm not sure of any choreographer that really would want to be associated with this hot mess, would be to bring in a big name choreographer to do a weekend workshop to teach and then create a piece for the following week's competition - could be done as a two part. I think we'd see who picks up choreography quickly, embraces a style properly and excels. I just think it would be a cool change up from what we see every seek. We do get to see this with the Candy Apples sometimes but it's not as interesting as it could be because she just brings in ringers from all over the country instead of focusing on a cohesive team. Finally as state above, some of the pieces we see are the real pieces/solos that ALDC takes to the real competitions they compete at with the full cohort from the studio - meaning all the teams and not just the "Jr Elite" team. You can recognize them in that they are much more polished and and advanced - those pieces are just like it's done at any studio - learned early, practiced often and cleaned to as close as perfection as possible.

@Vinsaya, the Daily Mail is citing the Variety article as the source that RosieP is quitting. ABC came out and denied that news after the Variety post. Who knows, where there is this much smoke there is usually some sort of fire.
-
The one time that the show brought an invitational to our area, they had their butts handed to them. It was one of the In10sity ones a couple years ago.
-
ABC news is fully denying the stuff about RosieP, but Variety isn't The Mail or TMZ. Had Naya said that Americans in general shower/bathe too much it would have been harmless and it's a pretty well known meme, but she singled out "white people" which was odd.

Who was Kalani supposed to be portraying? Or were there no one-to-one character assignments to the OITNB characters? Never mind, Nicky.

Mike Huckabee started out as a seemingly reasonable guy in the 2008 primaries, but he morphed into a FauxSnooze right wing hate radio pontificator - the best was his remarks about a year ago about American women being dependent on Uncle Sugar for their monthly birth control prescriptions. Run Huckster, Run! Just for the pure entertainment factor! Haven't watched yet, will check back in later.

For me it's not RosieP's voice, I can live with that (I could live with Fran Drescher) it's the very strange way that she has tension in her lower face down through her neck. I wonder if it's from the injury she incurred doing Law and Order?

I signed up for a month free trial on Sirius to listen to the show. That's the Rosie I want to see everyday on The View! I've always loved Fugelsang on Stephanie Miller's show.

I didn't realize that T.J. Holmes had landed on GMA. That's great, I've never understood his ouster from CNN, he was far more pleasant than the early morning weekend guy they have now. Enjoyed his filling in on MSNBC while he was there.

Haven't watched yet, but I get the impression that Ava? Jeanette's daughter is like Paige, just very thin and willowy after a growth spurt. If she stays this way for very long though, I'd start to worry.

Daily in summer, 3-5 times a week in winter, in case you wanted to know. Ha! I grew up in a one bathroom home with a tub, no shower. No way we were gonna function if we all took a bath every day either! It's brutally dry here in the winter and I would need more than the 15 cases of lotion that I go through during the winter months if I exceeded those numbers. I know that Whoopi gets picked on about her hygiene, but my stylist keeps telling me that I wash my hair far too often and keeps trying to sell me that shampoo in a spray stuff. I think our collective habits regarding cleanliness are a combination of how we grew up, what is currently accepted practice and what feels right to us as individuals. eta: all of our cats have been rescue kittens from the Humane Society, but I understand breed preferences. True story, my mother's "breeder" turned out to have been running a secret nasty puppy mill, she was stunned and outraged, but it didn't surprise me at all.

I want Joy, I want Joy! chuckles.

Joe: "there's some that suggest..." ::eyeroll:: FauxSnooze: "some people say..." eta; What purpose does it serve with Joe in the control room lately? Mostly on the "puff" or entertainment guests?

@GHScorpiosRule - healing vibes headed your way, and whatever it takes for you to get any type of nutrition, young lady! @ChicagoCita - congratulations on your weight loss! Keep up the excellent work! @3pwood - thanks for the tips, should any of us need them in the future. Glad to hear that you are doing better. The show on Monday was just so-so for me, but for me as well, any show w/o Whoopi is better than the alternative. Whoopi, I sort of think she may have had some surgical intervention, I can't fathom that she'd be hospitalized otherwise. But I've no idea of how things work for the super-rich. I just know my take - and that is if I don't feel well, or even if I've just had a baby - the sooner to the comfort of my own bed/home, the better! I haven't really minded the five co-hosts, or I didn't think I did, but really - there is always one that barely asserts themselves so it doesn't really work and just adds to cross-talk where I'd rather it just be the regular co-hosts, unless it's someone that I have a sincere interest in. Dr. Oz, he's a shill and nothing he offered is any different than any of us can glean in ten minutes on the intertoobz, but that's generally applicable to all guests that are promoting diets for the most part. I think Rosie just wants everyone to know that she feels her surgery is safe and has been very successful statistically so that anyone that is miserable and afraid or hasn't considered it as alternative have an option, and one that they should not be ashamed of taking advantage of. I understood Nicolle, it's clear that she watches for that extra five and doubles down to keep her shape, can't fault her for that. Would that all of us have that kind of determination! The violin dancing gal, was that dance? I kept thinking that she should go take some Irish Step classes to have it make more sense, happy to hear that the other artist that does this incorporates more of that. It just makes sense!

Future Dance Stars, or Abused Pawns?: The Girls
NextIteration replied to Rhondinella's topic in Dance Moms
@Rohdinella - you've asked the most perplexing question in the dance world. ;) Anywhere from 10-14, depending on the child, where they are in their physical development and where they are in their training. Most will say that the preponderance of children are not capable technically to go en pointe at 10, so that is rare from a technique perspective. The other consideration comes down to the physical development in their feet, the level of ossification in their bones. Here is the infamous Lugo essay on the subject. In general, my experience is that many girls begin pre-pointe work around 11 and are up en pointe by 13, where the instructors are educated and mindful of all the criteria that should be followed. You will find that in the wild, there are a lot of stupid studios that start forcing children en pointe at 8 and 9. -
So, we're to deduce in the world according to Morning Joe, politically correct Extreme Islamic Jihadist Terrorism only counts if white people are killed?

Dance Moms Spoilers: Abby is the Worst. Some More Again.
NextIteration replied to Rhondinella's topic in Dance Moms
Oh, JoJo is definitely a big part of the season in the next few weeks from the spoilers, I don't know if she'll stay or what though. -
Twenty minutes into the show, we're off to the first commercial break with the tease of Kramer and Trump ahead (ugh) and not a single word about the utter slaughter in Nigeria by Boko Haram. Lot's of criticism of Obama and Kerry for not being in France yesterday, but no mention of possibly two thousand brown people being massacred. Hmmm....

You are correct, and if the quality is there home schooling can be more rigorous than traditional school. I think it's always a balancing act. Thankfully there are colleges (outside of a conservatory environment) that offer the opportunity to go the BFA route if one chooses that also offer academic rigor, not a lot of them, but they are out there. Pre-med for her is just an advisory track that makes sure that all the required MCAT science classes get taken.
-
Your opinion counts as much as anyone else's! I'm just curious, who would you have chosen for a female Republican co-host? Because as stated above, a Republican was inevitable as one of the co-hosts.

Dance Moms Spoilers: Abby is the Worst. Some More Again.
NextIteration replied to Rhondinella's topic in Dance Moms
@pookymam - I'm referring to the possibility. I have no idea whether Tessa is capable of winning OD (regionally or nationally) or not, I just think that the priorities get bent out of shape when national television exposure is dangled in front of folks. Also, staying with your team should be honored. It seems you would have the inside track on Tessa and her capabilities and team.
