Did anyone else chuckle that they covered the rounded windows that are so recognizable from SYTYCD and DWTS at the 3rd Street Dance Studio? What a bunch of baloney that Abby ever intended to open a studio in LA. I agree that it looks really silly now that Nia and Kalani have both passed through puberty for them to be dancing on a small team with other girls that look so young, even if the age difference is only a year or two. In a large group of 11-13 year olds it wouldn't be that remarkable, but in a small group it's really obvious and looks ridiculous.

Y'all are saints, I haven't watched since RosieO's last show, and my blood pressure thanks me. Looks like Stacy is in serious contention as the new co-host. ugh.

Tap and jazz can win at the mini and sometimes the jr level but it's rare to see jazz, tap or ballet win overalls in groups, solos or duets. tessa, it sounds like you competed back in the day when there was just 1st, 2nd and 3rd without all the divisions and separations that have come with the everybody needs a trophy mentality. I read about your teacher, see was amazing! eta: I'm so sick of seeing 7-11 year olds trying to emote a lyrical properly, I wish they'd make it a rule that lyrical is out until the teen level, they can do modern and or contemporary but not lyrical!

Potentially, of hot flashes. ;)

Mackenzie has never auditioned or improved very well in any situation that we've seen. Does anyone that follows their "real" results know if she does well at workshops and conventions?

"Nathan" is hot. The only reason I watched but still, couldn't make it through Hot Topics.

Joffrey School Summer Intensives. Chloe received a scholarship to NYC, Maddie to LA West. It really depends what you consider a summer camp experience, these are dance training intensives - where you train for 6-8 hours a day and usually have rehearsal for a show at the end. Length of time varies, but usually for the younger set it's 2-3 weeks but can run as long as 6.

Yes Mika, FOURTEEN years.

I may be terribly confused, but I thought it was Renee's ex that pulled the trigger and then informed on the crime, the show is Mob Wives which means they are associated with people that are known criminals. I'm not making excuses for criminals, but that's the basis of the show. Ang's cousin is certainly guilty of felony murder whether he pulled the trigger or not.

Not for nothing, I understand the weather is crap in NYC but couldn't she have managed to find a black pair of uggs? Yeah, I'm matchy matchy like that! Most of the other folks there managed to be in black tie, formal apparel. I snorted at the Hasselbeck/FauxNews reference, hilarious that it was the photo from her heinous "Brownies are being trained as radicals that will come hunt you down" hit piece.

Wow, she is a superstar at ballet for her age. The passion part, I think is true of all young committed dancers, which is what I commented about in the other thread. So, Giselle's world renowned teacher thinks it was the right thing for her, to turn down ABT for now, can you imagine Abby Lee with her baloney Joffrey School (not Joffrey Ballet) auditions (anybody can audition for summer intensives, it really isn't anything that special - though it is admirable to get a scholarship as Chloe did) telling any of these girls that it would be okay to turn down anything? Laughs, my daughter wears Grishkos, that's as close as she'll get. ;)

I actually did know this, which is why I was so surprised that he's at Hofstra!

Do you have any evidence to prove that "most channels had a more liberal view"? How exactly does Newshounds "twist" what Fox News Channel does? Generally, they provide the video of what they are commenting about - their tag line used to be "We watch Fox News so you don't have to". If this wasn't one of the most lowdown yucky things that Hasselbeck has ever "reported" on, why did Fox scrub it from their site?

Future Dance Stars, or Abused Pawns?: The Girls
NextIteration replied to Rhondinella's topic in Dance Moms
Well, that's surprising! In my world these are household names, and they are famous based solely on dance. I think that most kids that want to dance past the age of 18 do so because they absolutely have to to live and breath, if they gain any sort of fame it's the cherry on top. What's troubling about Abby who has had success launching careers for some people in dance is that on the show, fame has become her sole focus. If you know any young dancers, ask them why they dance, and what their future plans in dance are. Unless they are true triple threats or extremely talented in ballet, they dance just to dance because it's their way to express themselves, they may want to do small company work or major in dance in college and see where it goes but it's not about fame, it's about personal accomplishment and satisfaction. I don't see Abby nurturing this in the girls at all. What I see now and this isn't how the show started, is exploiting these girls for fame at any cost, to extend this 15 minutes of reality fame into something more. If it works out and the girls are individually happy and complete I don't have any complaints, I just feel like some real emotional harm has come to each and every one of them somewhere along the way and that's why I ask, at what cost? -
I'm taking my responses about "dance stars" to the girls thread since it's not particular to any media. I did hear about Maddie being a correspondent for Elle at Fashion Week, it makes no sense to me at all, has she been under the tutelage of Tim Gunn without our knowledge?

Came across this photo of Rosie, I think it's beautiful. Thanks for the tip Dissy!

I don't think Whoopi ran her off, I just think as Rosie said very directly she wanted to turn the work stress down to zero, and that she was in the very lucky position to be able to do just that. There was a lot going on between all the leaking, all the hierarchical changes, quitting EP, RosieP fired, RosieP not fired, even Rosie's concern about Beverly Johnson being solely interviewed by Whoopi (which I happen to think would have been a disaster as well). To be honest I watched when Whoopi came on board hoping that it would be good, but I dropped off quickly so I had no idea of her penchant with bathroom humor and general TMI. I do think that there was a clash between Whoopi and Rosie that I never imagined would occur, but remembering back to the one episode before the holidays, it was just awful. I think the best shows of the season so far are the ones where Rosie moderated.

Ha! Are you psychic?

I think she honestly thought that she could rescue the show. I think she has enough respect for BW that she wanted to keep her legacy going, and to make it so much better than what it had faded into with the ridiculousness of JM and SS. It didn't work because nobody knew that Whoopi would suddenly wake up and be so extraordinarily skeevy about things like BIll Cosby and generally nasty all around, bullying her co-hosts and the audience.

This is what I keep harping about. And you know what? The irony is that these kids for the moment are stars and are getting that 15 minutes of reality show fame. Ultimately, the question is whether this will launch them into a lifetime of triple threat work, or acting, but really, not one of these girls imho has what it takes to be a star based solely on dance. I don't see the next Britney coming out of this crop, or a prima ballerina, but I'd happily be proven wrong.

Shakes fist at the sky!!!! We >< just missed having what we wanted for a show. With the great leaky sinking ship that is The View, I wouldn't be surprised at all if that RadarOnline link is true. It's been clear the last couple weeks that somebody told Whoopi to check her shit and rein herself in. I sure didn't need a five minute explanation about Whoopi's phantom steroid ass.

I'm not quite sure where you got that impression, I'm pretty sure it's widely accepted that Maddie is a very good dancer, just perhaps not the best dancer in the country in her age cohort, which is pretty demonstrably true in a number of ways. My concern is much more about her total well being. I'm sure she's having the time of her life, who wouldn't be? I think It would be a shame if tens year from now all she's known for is being "that little dancer with Sia" and/or "the pet dancer from that awful reality series Dance Moms".

My difficulty with laBits is that she can't grasp that you can support the troops, and still think military action in any given situation might have been the wrong thing to pursue. Did anyone confront her about Sen Coburn's blocking of the Clay Hunt Veteran Suicide Bill? Does FauxSnooze even report on this scurrilous deed of his?

After seeing SabiRo and the video she posted on her Facebook, I get it, it's just the juxtaposition of the situation against Brian Williams is a liar and you can't trust anything in corporate media that left a bad taste in my mouth.

She seems interested in radio - also talked about podcasts. I think either would be great, and she could have complete control, which really seems to be essential to her.
