Do you think it's to protect herself or might it be fear that will descend into finger-pointing shit fest? I mean, the shitty way the show is being run, the leaky staff and Whoopi's insufferable behavior?
-
She did post a SabiRo today, but didn't acknowledge that it wouldn't be fully discussed on the show.

Another example of her being fully co-opted by Sia (migraine trigger warning!!) She is enjoying amazing opportunities, of that there is no doubt. I just wonder at what cost sometimes.

Until seeing Rosie's tweet I was of two minds about "not directly taking on the obvious". First, I thought that they actually did with Nicolle repeating "something has to give" with the conversation turning to Rosie at the Athena Film Festival, because that line came out of her appearance there in explanation of her impending departure. Second, I thought that was rather dishonest of them and felt that taking on Brian Williams and discussing trust of public figures or those that "deliver the news" when The View is now under the fold of ABC News was really shitty and hypocritical. Just present the whole truth, before you go on to take down the corporate owned media (a sentiment that I agree with but don't sit there collecting your cool five or ten million, not being fully honest and upfront and direct about what is going on). The tweet answers my question - and while I can appreciate that Rosie didn't want to take on any discussion of her separation right now, I'm pretty disappointed about the whole thing. Come on, stand up - eat your damn peas and move on. And you lose some credibility when you want to point the finger at others about "honesty" when you can't deal with it yourself. From the Variety article... It sounds like the whole environment was a toxic stew, I'm surprised that Woolf is such a mess here, and yes, way too many cooks in the kitchen. This is all from a huge Rosie fan and admirer. I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth.

This is no defense of Nicolle, but, the insane trips to Saks and Neiman Marcus as well as the delivery of racks of items to her suite at the Hyatt Regency just a few blocks down the Nicollet Mall from these stores was widely known locally. It was followed closely because the guy that was giving Sen. Norm Coleman all kinds of money also paid for a lot Palin's shopping expenses, it was a local scandal at the time, the Palin side of the equation was bound to get covered nationally because of the election.

Rosie needs to be there Monday morning, if for no other reason, to gloat at Whoopi about Brian Williams.

Which is exactly what the theatre group is doing; there will still be a performance of the VM for V-day at the school, just not that group. I chalk some of the more rigid/militant parts of third wave feminism in college students up to youth. ;) I think the intent was to embrace trans women more closely since they are being accepted for the first time at the school for the 2015-2016 school year, but it does come off as derisive and disrespectful, accusing Ensler of being reductive and exclusionary. @backformore To me, that assertion is absurd on it's face. A thoughtful explanation to Rosie about intersectionality would have been more appropriate than lobbing bombs at her on Twitter.

That pile-on seemed incredibly well planned, as in, a way to get the activists attention for themselves as well.

Actually, Joy has co-hosted the last half hour of Morning Joe twice since the start of the new year. I'm sad that Rosie is leaving and the nasty toad is staying.

This one strikes close to home because I'm in the middle of being "retaught" feminism by my 20 year old daughter. Even the best of well intended old dogs, need to learn new tricks, third wave feminism is different from what I was comfortable with and socialized to. My daughter was part of the protest that stopped the VM at her school, we actually had a conversation about this, how ironic that this became a twitter kerfuffle with Rosie. I get it, intersectionality isn't something this 52 year old woman understood or perceived until it was explained to me. And even more interesting, the show gave away the movie Dear White People, either early this week or late last week, good movie that demonstrates the concept through satire. Sigh, I'm so sad that this happened this week, when Rosie had to have known the announcement of her departure was coming. Sure shines light on the remarks about separations, divorces and life changes earlier this week. I hope she takes good care of herself and her loved ones and re-finds her center in all of this. I'll miss her and frankly will probably delete the show from my DVR because I have no real interest in watching Whoopi bully her audience. Though perhaps, Whoopi's demeanor will change if she feels less intellectually challenged.

Have any of the other dance moms around here, or former competitors ever seen overalls that would have Jrs and Teens in the same Overalls? The only competition that I can think of that combines Jrs/Minis and then Teens/Srs for overalls is IDC. Otherwise, in my experience each age division that a competition has, has a separate overall. Now, Top Score of the weekend is usually a complete overall across everything, solos, duets, groups, and age divisions, not always, but usually. Does anyone know if the old FDC morphed into a new organization?

I don't know why Joe's been in the control room the last month or so for the last half hour, it's odd. Trying his hand at directing/producing???

Thanks for the link Oakville, the writer nailed it. I keep hoping for the old show that I used to really love (even for all my kvetching about Mika and Joe) will come back, and as the piece notes, it doesn't feel like it ever will. The success, was in the folks like Savannah and Norah, certainly, look at where they've landed! I wonder, the article mentions Joy Behar, I have really enjoyed her presence as a "co-host" for the last half hour the two times she's been there... even though that last half hour is sort of weird these days. Having her there at the top of the show would sure slow down Joe and his 15 minute lectures and rants.
-
Who stole Whoopi and replaced her with a rather pleasant co-host? Inquiring minds want to know.

Sigh, the lying is so easy to pick out these days. They need to be a little more subtle, even for the low info voters, well I hope anyways!

Oh hell no. Studio 19 is completely exploiting the fact that Chloe and her fan base has landed there. What with the videos with full credits and everything! ::chuckle:: I'm pretty much team Chloe, but it's pretty clear what's going on with Chloe's (er I mean Christi;s) motivation.

I'm on the third block of Hot Topics and she hasn't stopped shouting since the opening.

Nicolle is in all kinds of trouble with the right wingers. The comments are the best!

Mika was right there with him gushing. To be honest though - from the philanthropy aspect the Koch's are infamous for it - I suppose that's what they hide behind, or how they get good tax breaks. Rachel Maddow mentioned the schools that the Koch brothers donate to last week I believe- I was absolutely astonished that my daughter's uber liberal, liberal arts college is on the list. As I'm typing, lol, there is a Koch Industries happy time ad running on MNSBC. *shudder* Had to laugh at Nicolle's dyspepsia over Palin's awful speech in Iowa this past weekend. ETA: added link and chortle that Newsbusters went after her, the comments are the best part for a laugh!

One of those links has the youtube of what looks to have been the canned show.

This is really really old news, but, if anyone is curious where Kelly/Paige's accusations about the kids being exposed to a pedophile choreographer come from, this is it. I wasn't sure where to put this - if it should be moved to the general girls thread, please feel free to move it.

Can you imagine how bad Bitsy's head would explode if she watched on episode of Melissa Harris Perry who essentially gives a primer on this topic on every one of her episodes. Closed minds are unbelievable. Two blonde girl next door types questioning white privilege, hysterical.

That's generally how you can tell when the Friday show is taped, one of the co-hosts or guests will be included in Friday taping. It gets a little trickier if it's a Mario day though, imho.

Photogenic is always separate and an extra fee. Title is entirely dependent on the competition. Some of the best competitions award the Title or whatever is equivalent to that based solely on performance of solos (sometimes there is a requirement to have two to be considered but no extra fee is charged) and others it's just like Photogenic, you pay an extra fee and you get a Tiara or blinged out jacket or some such. Some of the competitions that have the extra paid title thing actually have a judge that only judges for titles and special awards, which I sort of feel is more legitimate. I always used to tease my kid and ask her if she wanted me to buy her a tiara. ;) Because, that is essentially what you are doing. Most legitimate competitors sort of scorn the practice. (It's also incredibly entertaining seeing an intermediate level competitor win the title because none of the elite dancers would be caught dead entering.) Winning the Title at Regionals generally allows you to also compete for Title at Nationals at that competition (which is where it gets more pageanty with a special dress and interviews), but often kids with a certain regional score are asked to compete as well even if they didn't title. (Think money generation, because money is what competitions are all about.) As far as group dances go, often the overall winners are invited to nationals with a waived entrance fee for that dance. Dancers that get the judges attention either in solos or groups, and not always the overall winners are often invited to participate at nationals in an elite master class and performance during the finale at that comp's nationals. The competitions where the regional titles are important and actually indicative of real talent are workshop/competitions like NYCDA (Outstanding Dancer), Jump (VIP), WCDE (Elite Dancer)... and there are a few more.

I can't fault this cast for giggling about balls, the whole damn country is. Why can't folks use the word football/s?
