I wonder if it's medication, satisfaction and contentment in her current relationship or that she made some sort of deal with the devil when returning to the show in order to maintain some behind the scenes direction of what we are seeing. I have to agree on one thing that I wasn't so convinced about in the beginning of the season, there is negative chemistry between Ro and Whoopi and if the drip drip of reports in the media that they aren't getting along are true. Whatever it is, I want Ro unmuzzled and Whoopi muzzled, thank you very much. ...and I'm still seething about the pointe shoes, at least Whoopi took them off at the end of the first block. You need to earn those, not just don an authentic pair for a costume and she had them so freaking ridiculously tied. There are fake ones for costumes. grrrr

Real Time with Bill Maher in the Media
NextIteration replied to Maherjunkie's topic in Real Time With Bill Maher
Bill loses all cred as a progressive really, when he speaks of supporting Rand Paul. -
I don't know if anyone else is watching Lisa Ling's new show on CNN but it's been really interesting and informative about topics sort of on the edge. I only caught a few of her OWN shows but they were always incredibly informative as well. She seems to be the one previous co-host that really came away from The View shining.

YouTube does not record multiple hits from the same IP address or "login", it only registers unique hits. Just sayin'.

She's a left leaning Libertarian, she is not a liberal. True that! See, I am learning. eta: just started watching today's show, I'm so pathetic and miss my kid at college so much that I teared up at the little ballerinas and you could tell that they were being well trained, that said, GET THOSE POINTE SHOES OFF WHOOPI YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO HAVE THEM ON YOUR FEET. okay, carry on, done with my dance mom share, lol Oh and I'm with Ro and Rosie about the PTSD like jumping when startled, it's awful and drives those around me crazy.

The only thing I knew about Honey Boo Boo was what I know about Duck Dynasty, not a hell of a lot but that they'd somehow punctured pop culture in a big way. I haven't commented much about the catcall train wreck because it actually went past me on the day it happened, I hadn't thought about the teens being in the audience. I think it's something that I've been oblivious to because of how I was socialized (I'm old, I'm learning!) and I have to admit, the couple times it's happened to me in the last couple years felt really nice, after being 120 pounds overweight. Shame on me, I guess. I did note what Ro said about it bothering her about her wife, and that Nicolle scolded everyone that the way they were talking was going to cause them to have to clean it up AGAIN. And here we are. I am having a hard time abiding anything Whoopi has to say anymore. She knows everyone, she knows everything, she's omniscient, it's getting really fucking old. And don't you dare scold me for saying so, Whoopi! The ignorance in the Time cover story, the hollering at us for not understanding and on and on, It will be interesting to see how Monday unfolds. I really appreciated what Ro had to say about mothers not believing children about sexual abuse, I wish they would have set up more time to discuss the double trauma that this causes. I honestly thought that Bill Wolff would do a better job, but there is something to be said about the above remark by maraleia, I wonder if it is related to the prep and level of intelligence of the co-hosts. Rachel carefully rewrites her show, by the minute really - during her broadcasts, as anything changes in facts as she's on air. You can even see the difference on her show, when there are substitutes for her. p.s. I'm also really pissed that they characterized Keady as a heckler, 9/11 truthers are hecklers, rude people that have nothing to really say but to antagonize or oppose the speaker are hecklers, Keady is a gentleman that has worked hard with Sandy relief, is a previous city council member in the area and runs a non-profit trying to ameliorate the damage inflicted by Sandy and helps folks back into their homes. That's not a heckler, Christie is an arrogant, seemingly corrupt bully, and I cannot believe that anyone in the country or New Jersey approves of his shenanigans. I think he erupted like that on purpose, for national attention, to be honest.

You know, given Ro's remark about timeouts, this seems plausible. And making The View and The Chew extensions of GMA is an interesting idea! I came back for Rosie. I was only posting here to snark about Jenny and my hate for her and what's she's done to vaccinations and lo and behold, we got the Rosie announcement! Whoopi is exhausting me and I'm fixing to tune out if something doesn't change. And to be frank? Rosie P is getting on my nerves as well, I read her book and admire her, was looking forward to her inclusion and she's nice enough, but she seems to have a shtick that is wearing a bit thin for me. It's a combination of things, her holier than thou attitude about all things, mixed with some silly shit, and what is becoming the constant race card play. I was hoping that her inclusion would be more about the wave in Latinos/Hispanics in all things (entertainment, demographics, politics); it's not coming off that way at all, it's coming off as "oh poor me" and I just can't muster sympathy for any millionaire that takes on that stance.

See, I was always under the impression that the IUD being a foreign object disrupted the ability of a fertilized egg to implant (which would sort of be like Plan B), this is true of IUDs that don't have other properties like copper or hormones. Until now, i never really understood the role of copper, or hormones that compliment the device itself. I get how anti-abortion folks conflate the non complimented IUD and use the abortifacient title against it, I don't agree with it, but I understand how it fits into their twisted logic on birth control. And really, let's be honest, they want to take away all birth control in the long run. Thanks to Rachel for a segment that taught me something new, that I'd never really thought about until now! I also really appreciated the new view on the devices on the whole, they really do make a ton of sense for teens/young adults when you take the risks of missing pills etc, into consideration. -
Have to laugh at the current list of news links on the Deutsch thing, they are all right-wing blogs, except for a real estate one.

Good lord, why? I can't even manage to walk across a room in 4" heels.

I failed to "watch" as opposed to listen yesterday... how did Bethany look? There is a big hullabaloo about her most recent facebook photo apparently... I wouldn't skinny shame nor fat shame anyone, but it seems like a lot of folks are actually registering concern for her over her thinness.

Willie never referred to him as a heckler, though Mika and Joe consistently did, except when Joe called him "the guy" stating that he was interviewed "all over television" last night. So, if they were aware that he was interviewed, why not use Mr. Keady's name? I don't know where all else he may have been interviewed last night - but all Mika and Joe reported was that he was a previous city council member, and former pro-athlete. I don't remember the pro-athlete thing coming up in the Hayes interview last night? Of course, not a single damn word about how much work Keady has done to help his area recover, nor his organization. FAIL. Adding that as much as Joe insists that the 80% in the latest polls that agree with quarantining, I highly doubt it's because of lack of leadership from the White House and sincerely believe that it's to do with the near constant fear-mongering and exploitation of the situation by the media and Republicans/Conservatives. And IIRC correctly - Obama addressed the "inconsistency" in the approach between the military who volunteered to be under what ever orders they are given and private citizens that volunteer and sacrifice to go West Africa to try to ameliorate the epidemic. le sigh

Ding ding ding ding ding! Also the reason nobody rushed to find a cure or vaccine for Ebola - it's just the brown folk over in Africa, what, me worry? But now they are going to possibly infect us. The whole racist elitist tinge to this hysteria is stomach turning and heartbreaking. Can we make a bet now that Joe and Mika will fail on this front this morning? Either that, or they'll try to take credit for it, like they often do with stories that Chris and Rachel do the previous evening even though they would never allow either of them to appear on the show, it's aggravating to see, and it always reminds of Joe's temper tantrum with Rachel on the old David Gregory Race for the White House Show. This is pretty much the reason that Joe is no where near any election night coverage, he can't play nice with those more intelligent, and Rachel is excellent at it.

I lost 120 pounds over 18 months starting 4 1/2 years ago. I have regained 30 pounds in the last year because my regimented eating habits have become difficult to maintain due to a medication that makes me feel like a teenager that just smoked a blunt, so I need to get back on the wagon and really try again, this time in a more healthy way with lots of exercise. I don't appreciate Ro's questioning how folks have lost weight, it's none of her damn business really and she shouldn't keep floating this stuff out there. I will say this, I lost it because I essentially starved myself and had "shrunk my stomach" naturally so that it only took a few bites for me to be full - pretty much the same thing that many of the bariatric surgeries do.

Franken has only done very few "national" television appearances (one with Rachel and one with Lawrence) which is fine with me because he's my senator and is doing a wonderful job. I'm not sure that he'll change after the election, it's just way too easy to take shots at him if he reverts to comedy. He has let loose a few funnies in the Senate and other senators have said he's hilarious behind the scenes. He takes his role very seriously and this role will always be his tribute to Paul Wellstone. He is hysterical in person, and I'm honored to have been able to work to get him elected and keep him in office. -
Taylor's Red album (can we say album anymore?) was interesting because she worked with other artists. I'm really not a fan and mostly should stick to Thumper's mama's rule, but it does seem to me that she practically exploits her high-profile dating for song fodder, so much so, that's it's getting old and appears to me to be drama queen-ish... and girl needs to stop dancing at awards shows!

Because he shills all that integrative (read expensive supplements) medicine shit that she "believes" in.

Shhhhh, it's coming up and it just hurts me deep that it's going to happen. People study and train for fucking years to be in the dayum chorus and then Broadway pulls shit like this. grrrrrrr. Stunt casting actual actors/singers/dancers that are not natural theatre people is one thing, famewhores is on a whole other level and it makes me sick. ...steps off the mother with a child training in this soap box
-
Yes they do, but generally late in the third hour when there are coordinated appearances (after Nicolle is long gone) or they are pre-taped generally with just Joe, Mika and maybe Barnicle. (Her current schedule on Morning Joe seems to be the first hour on Tuesday mornings.) I get it, you can't stand her lots of people can't, that's how she comes by the nickname Cackles. I just don't have the same opinion at all, when I think of being stuck with Rachel Campos, someone like Bitsy, S.E. Cupp, or even ditzy Meghan McCain - I think we won the lottery with Nicolle as "THE REPUBLICAN" at the table. I've found her to be sort of adorkable for now in what seems to me, her being out of her element and starstruck at times. I reserve the right to change my mind, especially after her shout-out to Joni Ernst yesterday - but I don't mind her one bit and she has not been rabid in this lead up to the mid-terms as many "predicted" she would be. I full on expect her to take on the Republican point of view, and I know it annoys the bejeepers out of some folks, but I think she's very smart in how she presents things, like the "Panetta Betrayal" because it gets under some folks skin - but it was the truth, and it was smart. I can't begrudge her for calling out the obvious. "There are none so blind as those who refuse to see". I can appreciate an intelligent argument from any side of the aisle, as long as it is presented well, it helps me to better form my own opinions and beliefs to look at things from many points of view. If we had someone as shrill as S.E. Cupp - I'd just turn the show off and disengage.

All the silence and mystery about her leave/surgery makes me think this is the case, didn't her mother have breast cancer? As much as I cannot abide her, I hope we're wrong and it isn't anything that serious, and no matter what it is, healing thoughts to her. Back to hating when she's well. ;) Are Whoopi's interruptions just call back? I started thinking about it today whilst I was annoyed with her doing it; you know like at church, when someone says something you wholeheartedly endorse and you call back, Uh-Huh, Oh Yeah! I don't know, maybe I'm just making excuses. I just wish she'd stop. Wow at that Twitter exchange! Thanks for the share. Speaking of being creeped out, I give you Mike Tyson. ::shudder:: Finally, I really want Elizabeth Warren to run, even if it's just to join Bernie Sanders in pushing Hillary back to the left. That said, (of course I'd vote for her if she were the nominee) I do have some of the same concerns about her that I had about Obama - that have proven true, with regard to inexperience. Oh Nicolle, you did NOT just endorse pig castrating, 2nd amendment nut Joni Ernst, did you?
-
I agree fully, kudos! Thing is, it's always been this way - even when they were high in the ratings and doing well. Joe has always slyly slipped in the daily Ailes talking points, from day one. Still my morning crack, sigh.
-
Did you mean political consultant? Correspondents are reporters, consultants are "pundits" with opinions. I don't think anyone is claiming that Nicolle is a TV novice, just that the venue (interviewing show biz folks for the most part) is a new venue for her.
-
...and, lots of coverage of Christie being a complete douche.
-
This was the first time this season for me as well to completely tune out. Someone fix Whoopi FAST!
-
Obama was for same sex marriage before he was against it, and then came back around in 2012 in support of it. It's called political expedience, and Nicolle or any other person on the planet - liberal, conservative, Republican or Democrat has the right to call him out on it. BINGO. Is it only okay for you to make this observation?
