  1. I find it hard to believe that Shamir's balls are so much larger than those of all the other men in the world (including the other racers -- and Phil, and we've all seen Phil in his tight tight pants) who have worn such a harness that he is the only one who has felt such agony. Not buying it for one red hot second. I have to wonder how the Swole Sisters would have done had they chosen the gym task. That was the faster task, in the end, and they might have lived to race another day. I suspect they didn't get the music one on the first try. Also? The name of this episode should have been "Pain is temporary. Elimination is forever." While the cameraman panned to a hand truck he could have used....
  2. He should have gotten a penalty for breaking the window.
  3. Boo, hiss! Of the three tonight, I so wanted Nora to win again. David pissed me off with his first pick, and Maresha wasn't much better. Oh well. FJ was an instaget for me -- I guess it wasn't as familiar a phrase as the clue writers thought it was. Only a few TS that I got -- flamingo, New Yorker, chrysanthemum, Obies and James Cagney.
  4. I think Abigail's voice reached a pitch that only dogs could hear during the interview portion last night. I don't even remember what she said (or perhaps I couldn't hear it), but her voice kept getting higher and higher! I didn't mind her so much on Monday and Tuesday, but it didn't hurt my feelings that she lost last night. I must have misread FJ, too, because I said Raptor as well. And would also like to thank Jurassic Park, as @Clanstarling did above.
  5. I hate that scene, too, and never really understood why it was considered so edgy and progressive.
  6. Good grief that was a painful game! So many TS, and way way too much board jumping/not starting at the tops of categories. I'm glad I recorded it, though! I laughed out loud when Jace guessed ear for a lobectomy. I feel certain I've heard of Hockney, but I never in a million years would have been able to pull his name out of my head.
  7. Definitely McCaffrey's Pern series. Make sure they're the ones written by Anne only, though. I'd start with Dragonsinger.
  8. I can't believe none of them knew Animal House! FJ was not quite an instaget, but I think I would have had enough time to write down the correct response.
  9. 135 degrees confused me, and I was calmly sitting on my sofa, not driving an unfamiliar car on unfamiliar roads in an unfamiliar country. I'm also not terribly mathletic -- by the time I figured out what he was saying, we'd have been all the way around the roundabout and starting again like Chevy Chase in European Vacation. "Hey, kids, there's Big Ben!"
  10. I think you mean Martin Mull. Richard Moll was Bull on Night Court.
  11. Thank goodness Eric won again. Of the three, he was the least objectionable, despite the squinting. At least he starts at the tops of categories! Too many clues needed a BMS -- there's more than one actress with the last name Arquette, Andrea. Also, Andrea reminded me a lot of Justine Bateman in her Family Ties days. I hadn't heard of most of the mnemonics. I could figure them all out, but I learned different ones for those things. TS I got include Born To Run (it helps that I recently slogged through it); The Nightingale; Oklahoma (my help there came from a term paper on the Cherokee about a million years ago in high school); Fokker; isomers; Queen Mary; and the missed DD of Winslow. It made me incredibly sad that Aaron didn't know Winslow, Arizona, and of course I'll have that song in my head the rest of the night. I drew a complete blank for FJ -- I figured out spear, but kept trying to put it at the front end of a name, and just couldn't manage. And then of course facepalmed when the answer was revealed. D'oh!
  12. I'm okay with the sloppy squinter winning -- he was the only one who didn't start in the middle of the categories! But he is slow, so he'll probably be a one and done. I got Iguazu Falls and toric, and said Kyra Sedgwick -- I've never seen The Closer and have no clue what the character's name is. I only know Kyra played her because of the ads. FJ was another instaget, but I wonder if they would have accepted "Les Mis" instead?
  13. Has she read the Little House books? She's probably way above the first few, but she could zoom through them quickly and get to the ones where Laura is a bit older. There are some non-fantasy/sci-fi L'Engle books (Meet the Austins, The Moon By Night, etc.) that might catch her fancy. I also liked The Island of the Blue Dolphin at about that age. Harriet the Spy and The Phantom Tollbooth might be options as well. I was into Judy Blume, Paul Zindel and those sorts way back when, too.
  14. And speaking of 70s music, I'd like to thank John Denver for my knowledge of the name of Cousteau's ship, Calypso. I now have that song running through my head. Which is not a bad thing. FJ was another instaget for me.
  15. The DD that asked for the alphabetically last of the four states at Four Corners was way too easy for a DD.
  16. I think it was Meral. I am not fond of Adam because, well, y'all probably know why, since I've complained about it so much with other contestants! It made me a little sad that no one knew Barry Manilow's "I Write The Songs", and then it made me a little sad that I did know it. And can sing it. Oh, the 70s -- what an interesting time. :) I also got armadillo and oblate. FJ was an instaget for me, but I'm a Biologist. I'd have been embarrassed to have missed it.
  17. Galaxy Quest "Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn!"
  18. @dcalley, you're the best! Thanks!
  19. Sorry to see Kevin go, and not just because Stephanie bugged me, though she does. I would have been less sorry if middle girl (Robin?) had won, despite her guess of Picard. Probably because I was thinking along the same lines! Otherwise, I was clueless for FJ. I did manage to get Batman, buckwheat and Marrakech, though -- all aboard that train... ETA: Yesterday's show was on at 3:15 this morning, but I can't find tonight's show anywhere on my guide. Grr...
  20. I saw this last night and really liked it a lot. Annette Bening was wonderful! I was a bit unsure at first about how people were introduced, but in the end, I think it really worked, along with the epilogues for each person.
  21. The time slot is pissing me off, too. I don't usually stay up until 11, because I have to get up at 5:30 to get ready for work. Grrr....
  22. The French was killing me! But I was laughing at the same time, knowing what y'all were thinking! :) Took me a bit for FJ today -- first I focused on the year, then switched to the months and figured out they all had 31 days just in time to make the connection between 31 and Baskin Robbins to write it down, I think. Good FJ clue. Missing cones was silly after rods had been guessed and ruled incorrect. It made me very sad that Friday Night Lights was a TS. That was such a good show. I also got Facetime, mostly because a friend recently got an iPhone and has been learning how to use it with me as a guinea pig. I said pay phone instead of phone booth -- probably would have been ruled incorrect since it was meant to be part of a title, although it's technically correct. Internet cafe was kind of a boneheaded guess for that one.
  23. I suppose if you're going to be a sexist, you should be an equal opportunity sexist. LOL
