I didn’t like that Leonard brought Penny’s dad into the kids discussion.

Yay! Not only did Doug lose, but I got FJ as an instaget! I can't imagine why Doug is tragically single.... But Kian was also bugging me with the constant pointing at the board, so I'm extra glad Sarah won. (Does she have an "h" -- I can't remember!). I do admit that I didn't give the game my full attention, so the only TS I got were brains and doddering.

The Wishbook! I spent hours and hours with that catalog back in the day.

Maggie was a little too precious in the opening, so I couldn’t root for her. I won’t ever be able to root for Doug, partly because he randomly starts a random category at the damn bottom, and partly because he’s a douche. So I had to root for end woman tonight, and I loved her look, too. And I thought her story was pretty cool. I also think that Doug (heh, Doug starts with the same letters as douche) and end woman let Maggie answer the last clues so she could play in FJ. Which was another FJ I missed! That gives me one right for this whole week! Boo hiss. I did at least manage to get decoy, spectacle cobra, Kendo, and bundle.

I almost got FJ, but couldn’t figure out where the hyphen came in. I actually had to rewind and re-read the clue to figure it out. Unfortunately, I did not write down Ben Affleck, though I did think of him. Boo, hiss. I was rooting so hard for Cody to win! I despise Doug. I didn’t much like him last night, but tonight he was extra crispy bad. I only got Charlotte Amalie and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest for TS.

I will see if I can find it!

BJ was quite sexist regarding his wife, though in a way that fit with the 50s.

Well, give me an asterisk for tonight's FJ! Great way to start the week. I will admit it was a bit of a guess -- but I couldn't think of any other long novel about a woman. I'm terrible with dates, though, so I wasn't confident at all. Boo, hiss that end guy won, although I will agree that the twin clue wasn't clear. However, he should not have gotten credit for "infected" instead of "contaminated" -- those two things are not the same. I was rooting for middle guy. Kit Carson Cody and Alex got to say "Jamaica, man"! What a night. :) TS I got included Cheney's Got A Gun, Taft, contaminated, and identical.

It's hard to find a good YA novel that is a stand-alone, too. I'm sick to death of trilogies (or more).

She's clearly not worried about her job, or uncomfortable with the situation, or she wouldn't be teasing him about being orange for their date.

Your doctor also won’t know what over-the-counter meds you might be taking, and those can have bad interactions with prescribed meds, too. Or possible accidental overdose if you take the name brand OTC, and its generic counterpart by prescription.

Thanks, @forumfish! Give me an asterisk for Week 2, then. I didn’t think I had any.

I was whelmed. I love the cast, but it has to improve for me to continue watching. Maybe once all this exposition is finished and they settle in, it’ll be better.

Faux Life: Things That Happen On TV But Not In Reality
Browncoat replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
I own property, and am way past the point where it makes financial sense to itemize. I do my taxes with paper and pencil (and calculator), and it takes me about 15-20 minutes. Even when I did itemize, I never had a box of receipts and papers, just a small folder. -
After week 3, I am a solidly middle-of-the-road 7/15, thanks to Alex's incredibly bad Brando impersonation tonight.
-
Or maybe a dance-off? Ed Grimley vs. PeeWee Herman! I agree, Alex totally gave away the answer to FJ tonight -- I've never seen the movie, either, and probably wouldn't have had a clue without the accent/impersonation. So, as much as I complain about his horrible accents (and this one was also horrible!), I would be 6/15 instead of 7/15 without it! However, I did manage to get fire extinguisher, Honolulu, fires, and John Irving. I hate John Irving almost as much as I hate Steinbeck, but was still surprised that that was a TS. I wanted Barbara to win.

I meant in general, not necessarily this show. Every time I hear about a wedding IRL, people talk about having to get an engagement gift and a shower gift and a wedding gift and a reception gift, and I don't even know what all kinds of gifts, and I have no idea when that trend started.
-
And yet apparently Leonard and Penny were not hurt to get the regifted item, and Howard and Bernadette weren't hurt to get it originally from Raj. If anyone should have their feelings hurt about the gift, it should be Raj! In the end, though, it's a lovely tchotchke, and it wouldn't actually hurt my feelings to have received it. However, I would have asked what it was. Incidentally, when did it start that you have to give 47,000 gifts when someone gets married? Back in the day, I don't ever remember anyone giving more than one gift per wedding -- if one was invited to the shower, the gift was given then. If not, the gift was given at the wedding or reception.

I was walking from my car to my house the other day, when another car drove by, blaring "Tequila" on their stereo. I had to stop and do the PeeWee Dance. Not to be confused with the peepee dance, of course.

I loved all the Oompa-loompa and Finding Nemo jokes about orange Stuart. And I'm terribly glad he decided to just tell the truth about the situation instead of backing out or making up something stupid. After all, he'll see her at the comic book store anyway. The regifting of the unusual object was what made that storyline funny to me. Had it been something random that Penny and Leonard had bought somewhere, it wouldn't have been nearly as good.

WTF with that wager, Katie? I liked her and wouldn't have been sad had she managed to win in the end. Oh well, another day of Noddy. You have to be awfully sure of yourself before making public proposals like that -- what if the proposee doesn't really want to marry you? They're kind of stuck saying yes regardless. And hey, I couldn't remember Sue Grafton, but I did remember The Alamo! Yay, me! LOL I also got the TS/missed DD of The Queen, Kilkenny, electricity, astronaut, Mobile, and C.S. Lewis. It made me sad that no one knew C.S. Lewis. I only said Lafayette instead of the Marquis de Lafayette -- do you suppose it would have been ruled correct? I heard that, too, but I've also occasionally heard the insects called ladybirds or ladybird beetles, so it didn't bother me too much.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
Browncoat replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
Maybe they meant actor portrayal for the couch, and the couch really doesn't have that condition either. :) -
S'mores are great! As long as there's no graham cracker or marshmallow, and you use decent (i.e. not Hershey's) chocolate. So, yeah, just the chocolate for me, thanks!

I didn't either.
