  1. Agreed. Also, the writers have done an outstanding job at making me despise Blue. I loved the tag with Dan and David -- good to know David's still appropriately afraid of Dan.
  2. Some school systems can't afford tablets for all the students, and all the students can't afford tablets for themselves.
  3. I finally got to see the LL Bean/West Side Story commercial with the flannel shirts, and I love it! The people look like they're having so much fun!
  4. I could not for the life of me come up with Grendel. I feel certain that "the monster from Beowulf" would not have been accepted, though you never know! Alex must have been beside himself with a whole French category! Meanwhile, Hairik is getting more annoying, and even slower at picking clues, in addition to not starting at the tops of categories. Too bad he didn't continue writing Beowulf! I was rooting hard for middle woman tonight, despite her not knowing "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe". I guess she couldn't hear me yelling. In addition to "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", I also got genes and commutative, though I will admit that commutative was a guess. Wasn't Patrick Healy the private detective from "There's Something About Mary"?
  5. 100% agree on the cold shoulder tops. I hate them, and hope they go away soon. I have no opinion on RR -- I don't care about her one way or the other, but I don't like her dog food commercials.
  6. No kidding! They were probably confused by the Barbarino part of the clue -- maybe Welcome Back, Kotter was before their time?
  7. Man, I really wanted Alex to pie Hairik. So disappointed! And I was disappointed in the end woman, too, for all her stupid guesses that led to a runaway game for Hairik. FJ seemed easy, but I will admit to momentarily blanking on the name -- I'm sure "that place in Florida" wouldn't have been acceptable. Fortunately, I came up with the correct response just in the nick of time, so I'm 1/1 for the week! I also got moccasin, drugstore, John Travolta, Gene Autry, and spider.
  8. Finally was able to watch Friday's game just now, and, while FJ wasn't exactly an instaget, I did get it. "Low center of gravity" led me to wrestling, and the Japanese words led me to Sumo. I also got shoulder pads, Pennsylvania, and Guns & Roses. And I will sit over here in my lonely little corner, all by myself, not particularly caring for Hairik.
  9. Some of the old-timers around here pronounce “caulk” as “cork” — it can be super confusing. Somenone else had to translate for me the first time I heard it, and I grew up not too far away! But I’d never heard that.
  10. Good game tonight! I only got one TS -- flagellum. I'd have to turn in my Microbiologist card if I missed that one! FJ took me a minute to figure out/remember who mends pots and kettles, but once I got the first part, the rest was easy and I was able to write it down just in the nick of time.
  11. Duluth Trading has some of the best commercials.
  12. Yay! Then I'm 3/3 for the week, too. I'm going out of town tomorrow, though, so I won't be able to watch tomorrow's ep until Sunday night.
  13. Of course, I vote yes! :) Also, apparently my knowledge of geography ends with the fall of the Soviet Union.
  14. Question of the day: Would they have accepted Leningrad for FJ? Will we accept Leningrad for our contest? That was my answer, and technically it is the same city, it just isn't called that anymore. Despite the dead-eyed stares, I was sad they didn't finish the Band Books category! I was running that one -- got Led Zeppelin, and Aerosmith, and should have gotten Motley Crue, but blanked on that one. I also got babushka, Scotland, April, and Java.
  15. Pluto was an instaget for me, partly because of the underworld part of the clue, and partly because soemwhere in the deep recesses of my brain, I remembered the name of the heart-shaped feature. @Sharpie66, I completely agree about the Orkneys! I also recognized The Old Man of Hoy immediately, and was a little disappointed that we didn’t have to come up with that name. I’ve only been once, but I am itching to go back. TS I got included The Odyssey, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. It made me terribly sad that he was a TS, too. I also said thermal imaging, so put me on the bandwagon of those who believe it would have been accepted. Hila reminded me of Mare Winningham.
  16. Homeowner's insurance payments can be rolled into the escrow account and added to the monthly mortgage along with the yearly property taxes and the mortgage insurance, which is required if they have less than 20% down payment. I think it's still possible to buy a house without a down payment (I did, almost 30 years ago, when it was like pulling teeth to get a mortgage), but you get better rates if you have at least 20% down.
  17. Well, that was a painfully easy FJ. Total instaget for me. I ran the Star Wars category, despite the clues about the prequels-that-shall-not-be-named. Not surprising that no one knew Attack Of The Clones, though. And I was glad the woman busted the "only boys like Star Wars" stereotype. It was surprising that no one could even guess dust -- have they not heard "ashes to ashes and dust to dust"? That's why I guessed dust. It was sad that no one knew Mike Brady was an architect, too.
  18. I'm with you, @opus. Ruining perfectly good chocolate (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) with coffee. Ew.
  19. He was fair. I wouldn't have cast him as Sweeney, but he did give it his best shot.
  20. "Frank's Hot Sauce is the stuff" doesn't mean the same thing as "Frank's Hot Sauce is the shit", and saying it's "the shit" is not the same as saying it's shit. You'd have to say it's the best ever stuff. I suppose they could have said "Frank's Hot Sauce is the shizzle" and offended fewer people. Simply saying it's the best ever or the best ever stuff doesn't have the same impact, although that does mean the same as saying it's the shit.
  21. I really want to be on that tour bus, but have them all trade off with the microphone.
  22. It ended well, but the first half was cringe-worthy to me. Dick pics are not amusing. I think I liked it starting about when the boys each came in, raving about Destiny. Before that, not so much. And as usual, Leslie Jordan was the best part, though Vicki's initial reaction to the "cop" (watch her instead of the action) was great, too -- she played it so well, you could tell when she went from "OMG! They're fighting!" to "Yeah, right."
