I'm not usually inclined to stick up for Whoopi - but the wayback machine tells us that the original definition of "camp" (in the 1920s, my grandmother's era) referred to exaggerated behavior that was seen as effeminate or homosexual. Being camp is how John Ritter got away with playing Jack Tripper, who was a ground breaking character at the time. Jack couldn't have been on the show if his persona and mannerisms didn't fall in the "camp" category - because otherwise ABC would have been accused of inciting people to immorality. "Camp" was the only way to make male and female roommates palatable. Because otherwise -the horror!!! The definition of camp has expanded to include terms like retro, amusingly bad taste, kitsch, etc.

Twice recently I've come into the room just as a promo is finishing. If I've heard it correctly - with an I-know-you-can't-do-it tone, Mika says to someone (paraphrasing) "Name me one Democratic candidate who can beat the president." From her tone, it seems evident that any answer will be a wrong answer. Are they hoping to assist in setting a self-fulfilling prophecy in motion?

I noticed that He and She are guesting on The View on Tuesday. Stand by for a barrage of self-promotion, there is a new volume in the KYV series debuting on May 7. This one is aimed at 20-something women and is called Earn It! The original was Know Your Value, the revision was Knowing Your Value, those were followed by Grow Your Value. As amply demonstrated in the past, this fierce author and women's advocate rarely appears in public without her security blanket/Joe by her side. Mainly because he doesn't trust her as far as he can throw her.

I made a mid-life career change because I wanted to do hospice home care as a CNA. To gain the experience and confidence necessary for going solo in private homes I decided to work in an assisted living facility for 2 years, mostly in the memory unit. I worked a hall with 12 residents from 10pm-6am and one of my main and constant duties was changing adult diapers and assisting those who were continent with using the toilet. I was paid less than $100 per shift and I actually loved my job. If they're taking suggestions I say Mika can shove her so-called problems and complaints up her ass BID (2 times a day).

I think the morning after would be ten times worse than the night before. Bumping elbows in the kitchen while everyone gets breakfast the next morning? Ho hum, yep, the headboard banged the wall for what seemed like hours, golly gee, are we out of cornflakes again? Or, watching her make and serve his breakfast while they bask in the afterglow? He gets his own breakfast because otherwise it's too obvious that they are in the afterglow? You cook for and serve everyone because they are ding-y from lack of sleep? You stay in your room until you hear their cars leave but you can't help hearing the murmur of their voices and their laughter? (Did someone say "I'll give you an hour to stop that" ... ?) He leaves early to avoid both of you and you're bumping elbows with someone who is humming and half-smiling and looking into the distance while making her own damn breakfast? It's the stuff of nightmares and I do not comprehend how people dill with it.

That's just under $1.4 million, plus penalties and interest. Yowzer.
