  1. My male cat had serious attitude and refused to move when I vacuumed the furniture. One time instead of moving him I vacuumed his tail and rump and he liked it. The next few times I took it further and further and it continued to be OK so I started vacuuming him regularly. Then the girls noticed he was allowing it so they decided to submit as well. (He also walked on a leash. Very cool cat.) Since then I've seen beaucoup kitty-vac vids on youtube. Who knew? One commercial that makes me scratch my head is for the Listen Up, that over-the-counter hearing aid. Dude buys one and they show him sitting in what looks like a sold-out football stadium, and I'm fairly certain they infer that he now can hear the QB calling plays in the huddle on the field. But not the 20,000 screaming fans surrounding him. Huh?
  2. Did the other site poof ahead of schedule? If so, I'm glad I snagged these gems tonight (and kudos to all, you know who you are):
  3. Cracks me up when he licks the whisk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cANCoKyFeJA Walking Dead Superbowl commercial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8G9QThnYVU0
  4. Wow, I had chickens for awhile and never thought to give them blowouts, but I do vacuum my cats. Hey, it's either that or vacuum my house and the cats are smaller.
  5. Finally saw this tonight. I've always liked LB. I think there's something very appealing about him, and it seems obvious that he is devoted to his daughter (and his extended family). There's lots o' chatter that he's all about the (Dannielynn photos) money but, hey, he is a photog. That's how he made his living before AN. Anyway, I think he's the real deal and it was nice to see a fairly mellow ep compared to most; that's OK sometimes. IMO. LOL'd when Helio found out how hard play dates are.
  6. not that it was consciously planned that way (?), but the raft of kids is her get-out-of-taking-responsibility card with no expiration date because there is no one, no one, no one in the entire world that could or would (help her) take care of her kids if he was out of the picture. no one. poor Tori. pobrecita I think in some scenes she's cranking on his short hairs so hard he can hardly breathe and in some scenes he's "in on" how it's gonna go. I think the scene leading to the Big Decision was for real; in contrast, they're such lousy actors that the reveal of the foregone conclusion, erm, Big Decision, was lame and weeeeeak. like, use it in acting classes (ie: don't do this) weak she's a strong, powerful yadda yadda alla thatta whatta woman??? pffffffffffffttttt
  7. Some are links (my intention); some are embedded. Why that is: I don't know. Live '64. Donovan - Catch The Wind Sorta live/sorta not '67/'70. The Doors - Riders On The Storm Live '69/Woodstock. 8. Joan Didion. Her non-fiction essay collections are easy to pick up/put down when RL calls but I rarely want to put them down, I'd rather that RL wait its turn: Slouching Towards Bethlehem, The White Album, After Henry, Political Fictions. Her memoir Where I Was From is superb as well. I just ordered The Year of Magical Thinking, re the loss of her husband (John Gregory Dunne, Dominick's brother) while their adult daughter/only child was in an induced coma. Having done hospice work, I'm always wanting to learn more about how people process death and grief.
  9. The problem with the tweets is that I think the ex will compare and contrast the new-and-improved mom with who she's been in the past. IA with the poster who said that she already provided a timeline showing how often and how long she was absent from the home/her son. Will it be obvious that her tweets took on a new flavor when the custody battle began? I guess whether or not the judge considers that valid information remains to be seen. Speaking just for myself, special needs individuals who are your responsibility need and deserve a lot of quality interaction. Throwing money (nannies) at the situation is not the answer. All kids have prime learning years and not making the effort then can be tragic later. My 60-year-old sister who is developmentally disabled lives with me. We do math everywhere, like counting out loud how many potatoes we're peeling for dinner or how many eggs go in egg salad. We play color/shape games: I see something blue/square, do you see it? We practice reading with shampoo bottles, cereal boxes, the TV guide, etc. Tutoring can be done everywhere, all the time, and it doesn't have to be a chore. I mean, you're talking anyway so talk about things that serve a purpose. I hope Sherri isn't the mom I've gotten the impression that she is. If so, I hope she improves. But if her View persona is real, girlfriend better get her ass in gear, like, right now.
  10. King Of The Night: The Life Of Johnny Carson by Lawrence Leamer. Illuminating read about an aloof, distant, insecure, anxious, cruel, complex man; nothing like his public persona. Which I like. Deceit, delusion, illusion, and people who aren't who you think they are. Familiar territory, I guess.
  11. In the vid at the link you can hear the cameras so, benefit of the doubt, perhaps Nori is distracted by the noise from the cameras. But, still, she's not cuddling against her mother while checking out the photogs and Kim is not cuddling her child close to her either. It looks like Nori is forearm-checking her mother. It seems very awkward, like neither of them is into it. I would be surprised to see anything similar with Kate (or William, for that matter) and young George. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2634005/Kim-Kardashian-carries-adorable-baby-North.html
  12. I even watch eps I've seen before because I notice something different each time. I'm a big fan of her staging and paint colors. She's not averse to getting dirty, and takes on little details which are time intensive and make a big difference when completed. I have carpet in my '95 home and seeing her wood floors before-and-after makes me drool. I think her kitchens are on the small side for a modern family but fine for a single/a couple who don't do large scale entertaining. Can't do anything about a small kitchen footprint without knocking down walls, so there's that. But the window thing does bug me. In the article posted above she mentions that adding weatherstripping is important but I don't recall seeing that done on the show, and IMO it's not an adequate solution anyway. Also, I can't get behind beadboard or doors as countertops. Grooves/molding provide nice detail on the vertical but turn into gunk catchers on the horizontal. I like Nicole - she's a hoot! - and I respect and admire her mission. Marathons are tough on the sleeping cats because every 30 minutes I shriek along with Oooh My Gaahdd Why Would Someone Cover That Uuup?
  13. Since so much of this show is fake, I call bullshit on The Pain Attack. She just wanted feeding and hair brushing (and IV pain meds). OMG the ugly crying from both of them was retch-ed, and her eyes are even wider-set w/o makeup. Yet, I watch.
  14. Daryl: no explanation needed Michonne: bad ass/intelligent/compassionate Walter White: bad ass/brainiac Colleen McMurphy/China Beach: bad ass in training/trauma nurse Sgt Dodger Winslow/China Beach: bad ass, period, with combat experience
  15. Oh, he definitely has two personalities. Can you picture how it went the first day? The first/appraising "I like what I see" lingering look. The first special "only for you" smile. Touching her arm/hand, maybe her leg, during conversation and then drawing back and portraying concern that perhaps it was too forward. Making his eyes "sparkle" when he looked into her eyes. Measuring the willingness and the neediness. Casually calling her "babe" and gauging the reaction. Sucking in his stomach and expanding his chest. Acting like he was unsure of her interest, but telegraphing that he wanted it. All in a day's work. He turns that shit on and off like a switch.
  16. I didn't think I'd ever be into zombies except for shooting them in an arcade game (OK, I'm old) but, like many others here, The Stand is one of my favorite books. Can't even count how many times I've read it. Didn't watch S1 but couldn't help hearing the buzz about it, caught a marathon, laid eyes on Daryl, loved the special effects and the dimension of the story and the characters, and I was IN! I've got my eyes on two hunks of rebar stuck in the ground (for some reason) at the Artic Circle drive-thru down the street, one is shorter/one is longer. Perfect sizes for me and my shorter sister. First hint of a ZA and that rebar is mine, erm, ours. I'm always doing something to improve my home so I go to Lowe's/Home Depot a lot and half my time there is spent evaluating various must-have ZA supplies and implements of destruction.
  17. I got the truly-life-size cardboard standing Daryl from amazon. If he left the show he'd still be in my house, and I'd still watch. I'm TWD's bitch.
  18. Jack (to Will): That's funny. Do I hear screaming? Oh, no, that's just the buttons on your shirt. Karen: You know, sometimes it seems like our sole purpose in life is just to serve Will and Grace. Jack: Right. It's like all people see when they look at us are the supporting players on the Will & Grace show. Will: You broke another wine glass, didn't you? Jack: Welcome to cynical island. Population, you. Grace: The dry cleaner in your neighborhood calls me nice lady. Will: He calls me nice lady. (Karen throws her keys to Will and Jack and they land on the floor) Grace: Karen, the gays don't catch. Grace: Ok, here's the Thanksgiving menu so far: apple pie, pumpkin pie, blueberry tart, and ice-cream roll. What am I missing? Cake. We need cake. Will: Did you take a bong hit before you wrote that? Karen: I think you're missing the silver lining here. When you're old and in diapers, a gay son will know how to keep you away from chiffon and backlighting. (Yes, I just bought the DVDs)
  19. I LMAO when Karen said that on Will & Grace too. She was telling Jack to get with Beverly Leslie who was offering to make him a kept man. "Oh you'll do it. You'll do it the same way any self-respecting woman does. Get on your back, point your heels to Jesus and think of handbags!"
  20. Having tired of the same formula, I tune in for the last 10 minutes to see Hillary's finished product and I usually like what I see. I subscribe to the HGTV mag, which is my porn. "I need to be alone for awhile, don't make me lock this door!"
  21. I really like this show. Makes my day when they have marathons. I think Olivia/Mariska and Elliot/Chris are aces, alone and together.
  22. I can't find the Madonna/Angelina Jolie baby love skit anywhere. Angelina won't give someone's baby back to them and Madonna keeps telling her she can't have that one because it belongs to someone else. Anybody know where to find that? (Although it's probably unavailable for legal reasons.) Anyhoo, TIA. ETA: IIRC it's from 2009
