  1. Winston Churchill said (with an update/edit by me): "There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man human."
  2. The proportions in that photo are seriously messed up. It looks like she put the head of an adult on the shoulders of a 10-year-old.
  3. What gets me is that all of the models have perfect bodies. Different body types but still perfect, each and every one. Preaching to the choir comes to mind. I guess advertising of that caliber goes right over my plebian head.
  4. 1) Any port in a storm 2) Grasping at straws 3) Beggers can't be choosers
  5. There was a huge fire followed by an explosion tonight in El Lay, over 200 firemen responded, 11 were injured, 7 buildings were burning, butane cylinders were sympathetically setting each other off. The guys on the roof knew they had to get down FAST so they rigged a ladder on the horizontal, creating a bridge, from the building to a fire truck. An onlooker filmed it from a block away and a fire chief heard about his footage and you can hear the chief tell the guy to come with him, he wants that footage. The firemen walked that bridge through the flames and no one slipped, no one stumbled, they knew right where the rungs were! Yay, Steven! Yay, LAFD! Listening to KFI AM 640, local coverage, they were told that a business in one of the buildings fills butane cylinders for honey oil (oops), they have no clue yet how many were inside the building. They spoke with Steve Gregory, they said he's always balls to the wall (sounds like he's a local photog?) All of the firefighters were awake and alert when they arrived at the hospital - and that's gonna be a hella firefighter training film.
  6. I'm trippin' down memory lane, listening to Art Bell's Somewhere In Time. He had a voice for radio, didn't he? As much as I enjoy hearing Art's voice I'm waiting for George Knapp's live guest tonight, a former LEO in Arizona for 31 years, many of those on a Navajo reservation. He will discuss UFOs on the rez and his eyewitness account of the Phoenix Lights. So I will be sleeping in tomorrow because it looks like I will be up all night listening to the radio. But what I really came here to say is that Fred Willard died this morning. (Is that the three now?)
  7. Former Miss Anerica and trailblazing female broadcaster Phyllis George passes away at 70 from blood disorder https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/more-sports/former-the-nfl-today-figure-and-trailblazing-female-broadcaster-phyllis-george-passes-away-at-70-from-blood-disorder/ar-BB14bJ9c?li=BBnbfcL
  8. Has anyone watched the Ricky Gervais series on Netflix called Derek? It ran for three seasons starting in 2013. I just found it and from what I read online it was a love it or hate it show. It doesn't have a topic here (my guess is that it might be too polarizing) but I am loving it. It takes place in a 23-bed facility funded by the government that houses impoverished elders. Gervais has an unspecified condition but is an unofficial careworker, he's a cheerleader and mood elevator for the residents and loved by all. It's raw, it's real, it's heartbreaking, it's hilarious. I never watched The Office but I think it's like that. One of the hangers-on (who sleeps in a trailer in the parking lot) is a sex addict and sometimes he pushes it over the line, toleration-wise. But the broken side of him that we're allowed to see is heartbreaking. We are asked to suspend belief, like how is he permitted to live in the parking lot or mingle with the residents? But just when you're disgusted by him the story veers in another direction and tears your heart out of your chest and hands it to you. I binged the first season last night and had the best sob sessions. The manager is a lovely woman named Hannah and in one episode she says: "I've learned that you've got to look after people. That it's important to care for people. That you shouldn't be selfish, you should try and look after the old and the ill and the weak, you know. And then you'll never be stuck for something to do because there'll always be people to look after. It never stops, there is no end. Yeah I've had a good life I think, I mean it's relative isn't it? I've had a better life than a lot of people. There are things I would've liked that haven't worked out, I suppose. I'm sick of worrying. I worry about a lot of stuff. Money, mostly. And this place. But there's no point in regretting anything 'cause I can change things if I need to, can't I? It's up to me." The no-filters residents on the show remind me of when I worked the night shift in a memory care unit. Many of the patients were nocturnal so I had lots of company. I learned a lot from them and one thing still cracks me up. This was close to 20 years ago and most of the patients were in their 70s and 80s. Doing the math, they were born 10-20 years into the last century. Most were from this valley, born to farming families, many had never been more than 100 miles from here, even those with university degrees. Two widows had grown up next door to each other, lived on the same block after they married, became demented at nearly the same time and had rooms next door to each other. They went nowhere without a baby doll in their arms and cared for them and each other constantly. I learned that pussy was a respectable term in their era. People with dementia often are incontinent only because they don't remember to use the bathroom. I was responsible for 12 residents (about half were incontinent) and I offered them the toilet every hour (or changed their pull-up every hour). When they successfully toileted they could wear the same pull-up all night and get a fresh one in the morning (and I didn't have to change wet clothing and bedding). Imagine my surprise on the first night when I offered the toilet to a little sweetie who asked if I was going to wipe her pussy. I woke another one to offer the toilet and she said are you here to clean my pussy? Most of them said that so I heard it all night long. On the way home in the morning I laughed so hard I cried and from then on I was used to it. I never said it out loud but when someone hesitated to take my offer I could usually prompt her into agreeing by whispering in her ear "I'm here to take care of your pussy."
  9. Did you see Melissa McCarthy in The Heat with Sandra Bullock? Not sweet, and very funny.
  10. She wasn't acting like Yo, I'm Denise Effing Richards out the gate, far from it. She was exceedingly mellow until she decided she'd had enough of being talked down to. That was her reaction to some condescending behavior. If this show is about shitty tactics and reacting to shitty tactics then Paris Hilton's dim-witted, klutzy, insecure aunt has met her match and the game is on.
  11. Teafortwo, thank you. I'm sorry to learn that you carry a sad burden but glad to hear that you and your brother are there for each other.
  12. Even better was his reaction when she said yes. He gave it a "Better you than me" eye roll.
  13. re the salon wench, business owners have to use at least 75% of the money to keep 100% of their pre-pandemic staff. Any who were furloughed or laid off have to be brought back or replaced by June 30. Borrowers can receive two and a half times their average monthly payroll costs incurred 12 months before the date the loan is made. For example, if your monthly average payroll in the last 12 months is $10,000, you may borrow up to $25,000. (She borrowed $18,000). More at link but none of it pertains to her because there's no way she is underwater for vacation, parental, family, medical and sick leave; group health care coverage; retirement benefits and payment of state and local taxes assessed on employees’ compensation. Her stylists pay her, she doesn't pay them. They are not employees, they are tenants. She is a straight-up crook. I think Sunny will keep an eye on her situation and gladly keep us updated. https://smartasset.com/financial-advisor/paycheck-protection-program-ppp-loans
  14. This is so sad, but I brought the link because of the photos. I've never heard of slot canyons before. Beautiful, but not for who are claustrophobic. "At least 21 others escaped the flooding Monday afternoon in Little Wildhorse Canyon, where the curving sandstone walls are so narrow at points that hikers must turn sideways to walk through." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/flash-flooding-kills-2-sisters-ages-7-and-3-in-utah-canyon/ar-BB13YSAQ?ocid=hplocalnews
  15. She is a babe. She has good bones and her features are symmetrical. She's pretty inside and out.
  16. One of her grandfathers ordered the murder of her other grandfather, right? LeBaron v Allred, right? That's sorta bastard-y right there.
  17. I don't think she would have any credibility if she spoke against polygamy because there is too much information out there about how she and her mother were the favored wife and favored child for many years. Her mom's piece of the financial pie was unfairly allocated and the time her dad spent with her and her mother wasn't cluttered up with needy siblings. She doesn't give a rat's ass about how the other moms and kids were treated. Actually, she has zero credibility about anything and everything because she still is untested and untried by life. On some level she knows that she's an empty vessel and that's why she keeps trying on causes and personalities as if they are costumes. She's an imposter who jumps from subject to subject like a flea on a hot griddle, without a clear idea about where to land. It's not that she thinks no one can see this, it's that she thinks those who do see it should keep their damn mouths shut. I guess it's going too far to say that she is a waste of skin but for sure she is entirely unlikable. She is so repellent that I can't feel an ounce of sympathy or compassion for her.
  18. In addition to the Governor ordering her early release from jail the Lt. Governor personally paid her $7000 fine and loudly and proudly announced doing so. Sorta makes you wonder if she is bullet-proof and will not face any consequences, for anything. Sunny seemed to have her number didn't she? Making sure to ask about the PPP money.
  19. The rules of the Payroll Protection Program require that "the bulk of the funds received must go toward payroll, salaries must remain intact and employee head count must not decrease. Businesses have until June 30 to rehire laid-off or furloughed workers." She doesn't know what to do with the money she wasn't entitled to receive? Bless her heart.
  20. I laughed so hard that my eyes started watering. The amount of effort expended on her superficialities and affectations blows my mind. That pose, in a sunbeam no less! My hell, where are her lower legs? Inside the chair? ETA maybe they're underneath her. Poor widdle weggies.
  21. That part sounds like she didn't like the idea of her employees making money unless they were paying her booth rental to do it. As to safety, who's to say that a one-on-one environment is less safe than a six-on-six environment? (Guessing as to how many stylists work in the salon at once). I think her reasoning is hinky. .
  22. Nicely done, laurakaye, and much appreciated! "...by the time Kody got the balls a’ rollin’, so to speak." LOL Oooh, Stealth Robyn, being appreciative of a ring made out of string back then but requiring a 6-bedroom home now. Barf.
  23. I like this saying: A religious person will do what they are told no matter what is right whereas a spiritual person will do what is right no matter what they are told. Remember the days of Stiller and Meara? It was fun to see them together on King of Queens. He was so good there, impeccable timing.
