  1. Captain Singh is still among us! He and his handsome facial hair survived the massacre. It was dark in Jitters, so maybe you thought it was Singh when it was Rupture. Also, Jitters was selected because it was " a block away" ( as per Joe's dialogue). I would think not being easy targets for a murderous speedster would trump location, location, location, but I'm not going to be facing those police officers' families.
  2. We had best have some WestAllen next season, Show. So I wasn't the only one to go 'huh, wha?' when Henry offered up Garrick being a maiden name of his mom's. Good to know. Dante needed to take several seats, but I guess seeing "yourself" die on live TV did that for Cisco. Btw, how did the camera man get into Jitters? Surely there was enough police to keep folks away from a sting operation. Yes, Zoom killed all but Capt. Singh, Joe and Barry at CCJitters, but he hadn't killed all of the force yet. If he did, why tell the Captain to tell the others not to screw around with him? I swear, the writers need to pay closer attention to when they have folks accused of crap. It wasn't E1 Wells who screwed folks over and it wasn't Jay turning evil. Eobard Thawne from E1's future and Hunter Zolomon from E2 are the evil piles of cow dung who are trying to destroy lots of things and people. If I was part of the Flash Mob, I'd cling to the actual names of these assholes. The person I can keep nice memories of is X, the supervillain trying to destroy the world is Y. If the writers are going for Not Confusing, they haven't succeeded for a while, so why keep using the wrong actual names? Barry's dads was nice to see, but it was pretty basic. Of course Henry would argue for Barry's total safety/ not going through the reactor again. Harry would , of course, argue for the recreation. Joe, sort of surprisingly, was not only not neutral or shifting, the writing actually had him unable to give advice to Barry, except that Barry'd have to live with his choice. Speaking of Joe? I hate to be the one to say it, but Iris, your daughter? She also had the Help People gene. You acted as if Wally was the first child to show that, but who kept Iris out of police cadet school? Oh, that's right: You! Writers? That was some Grade A++++ trolling with Jesse/ Wally asking about toilets. Buy a cheap one ( or two) and voila! We'll stop heckling you about the lack of common decency. I am still not sure how I feel about the episode as a whole. There was plenty to like, like Caitlin refusing to just be some damsel and Harry fighting to get her back too. The possibility that we just saw the "birth" of Kid Flash and Jesse Quick was exciting and worrying. The flaking of Barry's face was wonderfully horrific. I just hope the last episodes of the season get us back to a Season 1 vibe- as it were- so the Flash Mob can grow into themselves a bit more without being so dour and mostly humorless.
  3. I was a bit distracted during the episode, but I followed it enough to know that I enjoyed it. The main cast seems to be having a blast. Was that Houdini's mom? The lady with the very nice necklace in Harry's hotel living room? I hope that later Dr. Doyle explained that talking to his daughter helped him solve a real case, so that she doesn't feel that her dad got a sad and ran out. (Not that he looked sad; but they are British subjects and stiff-upper-lipping is a thing.) I almost forgot how overly horrid the time was wrt women working, until the end. Geez, I wanted to hit Mr. Merring/ Tim McInnerny for the overbearing "well, a man spoke well of you, so you obviously are sleeping with him. I will be looking for evidence to fit my supposition. See you tomorrow!" Yeah, it's probably a toned-down version of what ladies heard all the time, but still. Constable Adelaide Stratton was fun. I loved how she was able to clonk the guy at the pub and Doyle addressed her by her title and folks just backed up a step. (I bought it as, per Wikipedia, women on the force would be sent into places to see if laws were being broken/if criminal acts were going on, but then had to allow the male officers to actually arrest perps/suspects. The women were also not allowed handcuffs! Whatever,1900s male cops.) I enjoyed the show. I won't really make up my mind until another couple of episodes. The mystery was good and very atmospheric this week.
  4. I missed some of the Vince Buys a Boat episode, but I thought it was sweet. Yes, it hit almost every beat stories like this generally have, but it was okay because it was Mike & Molly. Plus we got an air drum solo and "angry Riverdancing" and "that...lasagna is pretty much a smoking gun." I have liked the Mike/Vince relationship. They do have a sort of father/son-ish vibe. They have the other to talk to/ vent to in a house of mostly women. Seeing Peggy decide she had to speak up for The Boy was great. I'm just surprised Peggy hasn't told Vince to knock off the Mother Biggs. While Peggy likes to complain about stuff, I think she doesn't appreciate others "aging" her and Mother Biggs, to me, is in the same class as Grandma or Granny- used to denote an older woman. (Shouldn't Peggy, Vince and Joyce be roughly in the same age bracket?) The second episode. I liked it, but I'm a sucker for this show when it's about characters not wacky situations. (Though "Vince Takes A Bath" still can make me laugh really hard.) It is apparent that TPTB want M&M to end up parents. So, the story of Frannie the Homeless Pregnant Ex-Student is something I can live with. I love that Frannie and Mike have a fun push-pull and that Mollie just couldn't not help one of her former kids. Mike being afraid that "deep-down" he couldn't get over that the child wasn't biologically his was a nice realistic touch, but Carl and Samuel's responses to that were sweet. Mike is a ball of love who just has rules, like "Trix is 4 Frannie...& Mike." I just hope that, since Molly seems to be doing well enough, that they end up either in a nice apartment or their own house. The song at the end that Vince and Victoria were singing was cute and Joyce was just setting down another house rule. *g*
  5. Oliver and Thea Queen (Arrow)-- Pin The Tail on the Donkey. Because they are competitive siblings, this could be funny. Al Swearingen and the saloon girls ( Deadwood)-- True American; On a night in, when Al is feeling magnanimous or he'd charge the ladies half price for the booze needed. Felix Unger ( The Odd Couple/2016)-- The Sims; It helps Felix to have a SimOscar who actually cleans up after himself, as well as Felix being able to micromange Sim versions of his friends' lives. Matt Murdock ( Daredevil)-- The Who's Tommy Pinball Wizard. He could have it as a private joke in his loft or it could be at Josie's and he'd probably win bar bets on it.
  6. I will preface my comments with: I am not criticizing your dislike of the storyline; you are free to dislike what you will. I am responding to the last part of the second sentence. The show over the previous seasons has had story arcs, but mostly kept to individual cases of the week. I think that with the wish to explore Sherlock through his father and the casting of John Noble, the writers and PTB figured that in order to do the story and characters right, it needed a bigger canvas than New York state. Moriarity and Morland are international movers and shakers. They are heads of corporations, if you will, and have divisions and managers and such. Vikner stepped in when Moriarity was taken out of play. I don't think that the show is going to abandon cases of the week. The advent of Morland just called for a twister story told on a larger-than-normal canvas. I disliked Joan saying stuff about Moriarity not needing someone to step into her shoes. Moriarity probably didn't intend for anyone to have to step in. Vikner saw a power vacuum and was given the okay (probably) by Moriarity. It was less dumb than Morland going not-dismantling-Moriarity's-organization = you [Sherlock] killed Sabine and anyone else they did. Sherlock's job is consultant to the NYPD and, primarily, a deductionist, iirc. The NYPD did in fact know about the organization, as Interpol more than likely did. It's not like after Jaime went away law enforcement sat on their hands, in all likelihood. It was a rare emotional outburst from Morland, so it was effective. With all the talk of Poor Dead Sabine, I sort of want her to somehow be alive. And/or in cahoots with NotDead!Mrs. Holmes. Then again, I'm okay if they both stay dead. It's just the on and on about Sabine makes me wonder things in the current landscape of TV writing. *sigh* I hope Kitty is safe too.
  7. No, but Barry would have pestered Cisco and constantly "checked in" to see if Cisco had come up with some way to open a portal, or pestered Harry about talking to/ helping Cisco with a new way to open a portal. Because Harry and Cisco have no skin in this game, apparently. Only Barry cares? Which is how the writing can make him seem, which makes Barry, supposedly our hero, seem petty and juvenile. I am glad that we haven't had any Iris/Scott dating scenes, but also Tone Bell seems to have another pilot/series, so maybe TPTB figured to drop the plot since it wasn't getting much traction among fans, or at least some fans? Crossing my fingers that the writers remember that Iris started this series just a dissertation from a PhD in psychology and that Iris will come up with a way to save Caitlin and/or stop Zoom/Zolomon. I'm not getting my hopes up, but it would be nice if folks in official capacities remembered the things we do. I believe Iris still lives at Joe's because of the TV law of set conservation. I just hope that Wally's read in and gets to be part of the circle of trust. I figure/ hope that Wally will think it's cool to be part of the Flash Mob, forgive Barry's moodiness because He Understands Now, and he's ready to help the group out with stuff. (Maybe tinkering with the Cosmic Treadmill? Soupin' it up?) Mostly, I just want Barry to stop Zoom so he can go back to cracking a smile more than once in a blue moon and being a doof who fights crime on two fronts. He can be more sober when he needs to be thoughtful, but as others point out, he's not Oliver and shouldn't be. Grant Gustin is what's keeping me from throwing my hands up in frustration and not watching again. I want Barry to be likeable and heroic. He has had moments in this season, but Barry's been tied to the Plot Tracks like some silent movie damsel and it's not a good look on him.
  8. I believe it is Polish, as Sophie has related stories of The Olde Country to Max and Caroline.
  9. The writing in the back half of this season, at least for the Morland subplot, has felt tight and twisty. I'm enjoying the hell out of it. An episode spotlighting two consummate H!ITGs and a horrible cliffhanger? Thank you, and yet? I am not ready for next week to end the season! Maybe Sherlock's Invisible Army, plus Mycroft, maybe coming to its leader's aid? My mind is trying to figure out how many dogs are in this fight and if there are any I may be overlooking. (We have met a manageable number of business associates of Morland's who may not be thrilled with the man.) Maybe Sabine or any of Sabine's relatives have a bone to pick with Morland. (If she didn't love/ hang out with Morland, she wouldn't have been around folks with access to international hit people.) Shallowly, I loved the blue top/black pant/black tie outfit. It was Joan and also very detective-y. Unless the team is getting a new residence, I hope the brownstone is saved. Clyde and the bees should not be screwed around with, bomber(s)!
  10. I missed this the first time around, but just saw it the other day. Damn, I loved this show and episodes like this one are why. Josh Groban needs to randomly be awesome in odd, recurring character parts. He has a great sense of humor, as does Mr. Paisley. The office antics are always pretty fun, but Sydney warning Zach off was great. Lauren and Sydney's surprise at Andrew was fun, even if a little predictable. Still, I'm glad we got what we did. Now, I need to find some BBQ... .
  11. File a lawsuit on behalf of the living metas created or their families. ;p
  12. Tara: On Call The Midwife; she's a cousin of Chummy's who is visiting and gets caught up in the swirl of Poplar. Sarah: On Law & Order: SVU, as a snarky M.E. Joe: On Teen Wolf as a physical therapist for Ms. McCall's patients. Quippy but encouraging and supportive. David: As a roller derby foe of Bob's on Bob's Burgers! You can sing a song over the end credits!
  13. Fictional folks: Paul F. Tompkins and Paget Brewster as Frank and Sadie Doyle hosting a morning show. Real folks: Andy Roddick, the tennis player, and Jerry O'Connell, the actor. Both guys seem cool and silly, which can be helpful in the AM. As someone to be a bit more serious- but still playful- add Tracee Ellis Ross. -or- Eva Longoria, Monique, and Ice-T. They would bring such a 'what's gonna happen today?!' vibe that could be fun.
  14. Even watching two nice comedies after this episode can't make me not angry at the writers for how they screwed over Kendra. Yeah, I was open-mouthed at Kendra choosing a guy she already shared 206 lifetimes with over the effing planet! Then I realized that the writers think this is high adventure-y/ heroic choice time. But it's not! I can see where Kendra might hesitate to kill Future!Carter, but to not finish off Savage when he's right there?! She is nowhere as sorry as she thinks. There are three more episodes, so odds are things will get more worse, if that's even grammatical. Mick? Maybe you need to step in and train Kendra. Not that I don't love the two females of the crew working and bonding, but , as others have said, Kendra had one job. Mick asked her if she was ready and she said she was. Mick doesn't take well to situations that go sideways. Since Mick spent time with the Chronos-folks, maybe he can articulate for the rest what they feel and how she can make up for her hesitation. Who knows, Mick may even have some empathy. It could actually be an awesome scene. Show? Don't scare me with Martin getting shrapnel like that! I will cut a bitch for Clarissa. Gray needs to make it back alive. Oh, Jefferson's face when he realized just how many kids were in the camp. Then the same hitting Martin. Those two are wonderful. Love them. I never envisioned Ray as Shinji Ikari of Neon Genesis Evangelion, but mebbee... ;p Still the Leviathan seemed more Angel than strictly a robot. Also? For a several milliums old megalomaniac, Savage put the important stuff in the head of said robot? Not in a harder to hit/ more protected area of the body? Then he deserves to lose his toy. I was actually afraid that the beating Ray got in giant form would overrun his system once he returned to normal. So, I guess I'm okay with that. I don't want Ray to end up on the brink of death, but a) it was his first enlarging of his entire body and b) he was briefly unconscious. Not that there had to be a concussion, but Jax's read-out was all sorts of red-lights and chirpy danger noises. I did like his "Yay!" at the end; it was very Ray.
  15. That final line? "I have your back." The 'in my sights' was implied! ::shivers:: The way the line was read and that look! eep!
  16. I think he might have; we didn't see after he left Rhonda alone at gala for family unity and to show him as family spokesperson.
  17. The constant "you'll never believe" about Man in the Iron Mask just makes me think that it's totally someone we'd believe or someone the writers hadn't settled on at the time of this script. Find a thesaurus, pick a person. Read a competent mystery writer or two so you know how to dole the clues out smartly. I'm just wild about Harry! He is the lovable curmudgeon this team needs and deserves. Keep doing you, Harry. I get tired watching the show. Mostly because the team's reactions going from "well, Barry has no speed; let's take a couple of days to decompress" to "ZOMG!HARRY'SBEENKIDNAPPED! BY A COMPLETE STRANGER!!11!1!!" Which makes it weird when the team doesn't react to something. Say, when Barry's travelling faster than ever, blips off tracking devices, blips back and even mentions something about how long was he gone. (Barry went to another dimension, so I'm betting that the monitors went flat/"dead" for however many seconds. That should be looked at by his team, right?) I'm not sure how to feel over Harry accepting any part of Thawne-Wells' plan/fallout. Eobard Thawne was an unfeeling bastard of a man who stole a man's face and life in order to be a petty villain over a petty slight. Harry is not warm and fuzzy, but what happened here wasn't his doing. That he doesn't verbally argue with Griffin speaks to how he's adopted Earth-1, maybe. That Harry wants to rehab 'Harrison Wells' for the other Harrisons? Which is cool, but there's the whole E1 Wells is quite dead. So I don't know how Harry'd rehab the brand, so to speak. You know? If Barry could find Dr. Light, I bet she could break TMitIM out of his cell.
  18. If Becky and Freda are cool with each other, then I'm happy. Freda seems to get Jamal is about the music. Becky seems to have shifted from Lucious' secretary to Jamal's (when Lucious was in jail) and just stayed in the position. Which I love because they have such a great vibe! I will say that I dislike the usage of "dirt" being used in conjunction with Grandma Leah. She is a person. A deeply traumatized person, no doubt, but other than being kept secret, Leah has been cared for, apparently, as long as Lucious has had money to do so. Now, why Lucious continued to keep Leah secret? It's a minorly complicated thing, but I imagine with Lu it'll come down to protecting her from Frank and his shame over her actions. Hakeem rebounded, in my eyes, from his tantrum-y strip club bender. How can Hakeem rebound in Laura's eyes if she refuses him the chance? So I was a bit happier that Laura returned to Hakeem. Still? Did that have to happen over poor Anika in her hospital bed? ( I thought I was the only one to notice the macarons. I want that kind of turn down service at my next hospitalization! *g*) Plus, Laura missed how flippin' cute 'Keem was over the babyproofing! As for Anika, the EMT mentioned something about dark blood and asked Anika what her pain felt like. I like that Cookie was able to calm Anika and interact with Mrs. Calhoun. Those three women could eat Lucious as a tappas, if they ever got a mind to do so. Hope we get to see if he underestimates them. collectively. I liked all the singing tonight. I just was hoping that Jamal would call Freda up to jam, too.
  19. What made me go 'Hmmm...' was why couldn't it be Sin who was running around being Black Canary? Granted, I probably have forgotten Oliver or Thea telling Sin that Sara was dead, but if they haven't then Sin being the new baby Canary makes more sense. o.O Sorry. I just realized my mistake. Paul was great with Quentin pointing out to everyone who'd listen that there had to be some way his other baby, his rock, could be brought back. Personally, I can't blame Alex Kingston for not seeming too emotive. The show barely used her- which is understandable, as she's been in various projects- so, I can't get too angry. I chose to read it as Dinah going through shock and disbelief. Though, I was hoping that Oliver and Quentin had grown enough over the seasons where a manly comforting hug would happen. Regardless of how Oliver actually felt, the walking wound that was Quentin sort of begged for human contact, imo. In that one flashback, I heard the rhythm of Ollie's talk and almost chanted along the Horrid Line. Almost. I shouted 'damn it!' after it was completed. I guess it was either a death phrase or TPTB/ writers are just trolls. I was glad to see Nyssa! I was glad that Quentin felt he could ask Nyssa for a favor that big. I liked that Nyssa went to Oliver with her concern over Lance. I do want Quentin to eventually circle back to Oliver with a " That time, after Laurel died? Did I hear you right? You have a son?" and then to bust out laughing . I did like that Felicity told John that he was "only an illegitimate child" away from doing an Oliver Queen imitation. While I love David Ramsey's John Diggle and thought he was given a nice amount of screentime, I could have done without a flashback so I could have a John/Lyla scene. One where Lyla reassures her husband that the actual fault lies with the lying liars who are also murderers. Because Lyla moves in that circle and no doubt has faced these questions more often, hence her leaving ARGUS. But, we had to make sure everyone knew the how and why of how Laurel got her picture back. Also, Oliver flying back to Lian Yu, because we won't remember it happened before S2 started? Wev. I am thinking more that Adam/whatever Thea's date's name is, is actually on the Darhk payroll. Or at least feeling that's true while hesitating, thinking there is bound to be some swerve. Despite Evelyn not being Sin, I wouldn't mind if she popped up here or there to help the team. Maybe Felicity reaching out to Evelyn with a job? Felicity said she had the power to help more folks now, so her going a little laterally could be neat if it gets us a new, competent team member. I missed y'all last night!!
  20. I love the original, which will always be wonderful no matter what this version is like. I like the cast, though, and it looks like fun. I have questions, but we've only had the one trailer, so I'll hold off asking for now.
  21. I was actually bored during this episode. I can usually find something interesting about part of the stories to pull me through a slower episode. This week wasn't a "catch your breath" type episode, it was meh. *Barry is whiny because he isn't fast anymore. Here's a piece of advice, Barry: don't give your speed away! Your insistence on dealing "honorably" with yet another dishonorable, murderous villain is not doing you or anyone on your team favors. *Jesse is angry at her murderin' dad. Still. I get it, but to make him promise to never murder anyone "for" her is dumb, especially coming from someone who has five effing college degrees. Hopefully she understands situational ethics, but if she doesn't? She better not expect Dad to help her out if/when another threat to her life comes up. (Now if this means that speed powers- via the various shots and infusions- kicks in and she saves herself? That'd be nice. Also, the preceding was just spec. The writers barely write for the two regular ladies and seem stuck on "petulantly stubborn" for Jesse. I'd rather she move back to Opal City and her seemingly cool roomie.) *Wally gets a re-fitted Roy Harper-ing and wants to do something more/good with his life, as well as sort of stalking the hero who saved him. I thought Joe would come around sooner, though. He knows how needy Barry gets after a setback. *Caitlin can't win for losing. Neither can Man in the Iron Mask. *Poor Griffin Gray. His last fight with Barry read as if he'd just given up, which was weird as Barry and Company said they would try to help him. I guess after six months of aging and then about three or four changes close together, he just tired of it all. It does make me wonder how often ,after his first use of his powers, Griffin used his strength. After two times or three, maybe stop? Still, I disagree with the recapper about how Barry, Joe and Cisco acted. They weren't partying, but the scene was a long shot and the trio slowly went to check on Griffin. I understand checking in with Barry, but no one thought about this 18 year old kid who hadn't really injured anyone. He just wanted the guy who made him that way, change him back. I wonder how STAR Labs is seen in Central City, what with the accelerator "accident" and various deaths. Now they have the death of a teen to deal with. (Or be covered up by Joe.) *Harry's comeback to Iris' "we made those decisions as a team"? Wondrous in its Truth. It was made explicit last week when Joe asked Harry to help Barry, against his own gut feeling and knowledge of Zoom. I love how Harry understands everything going on, yet is unsentimental enough to call Barry on stuff. Despite the meh, I enjoyed the potential of a "lost" brother for Caitlin. (Of course it's a brother. Unless Charlie is a nickname for Charlotte, where I'll be glad enough.)
  22. As far as season enders, this ranks with iZombie, for me. It had gripping moments, fun moments, awwww moments, and Dr. Linda still being awesome! Maze was her badass self and Chloe was as stalwart as everyone should have trusted. As far as who escaped: I figured the escapee would have to be someone big enough to worry Lucifer, but also someone who'd worry Amenadiel, who doesn't seem shake-able under normal conditions. I'm going to have to do some reading in order to make guesses, but the simplest guess seems to be Lilith. We shall see. I'm just excited and the announcer sounded so excited/proud to tell us that the show will be back in the Fall. ( Or just back. Season 2 is a go and I don't care too much when, just now!) Yay, Show! Go celebrate your bad selves!
  23. My Preferred: Doctor: Christina Chang (Sandra Oh, Gray's)-- Because Chang is results oriented. She'll see what's wrong and fix it. As her head nurse? Margaret Houlihan (Loretta Swit, M*A*S*H), because she was the best nurse you could find on the front lines. Equally tough-but-fair women whose goal was to make you as well as humanly possible. Lawyer: Caroline Julian ( Patricia Belcher, Bones)--Cherie? You oughtn't have done that, but you're an adult and will be made to pay restitution like one. Because Caroline is the best. Second chair? Foggy Nelson ( Elden Henson, Daredevil). Spiritual Guidance: Jonas Blane (Dennis Haysbert, The Unit)-- Jonas would get you back on your feet, physically. He'd understand the role of medication, but not allow you to think about abusing it. If you are lucky, he'd give you a number to call and so if you needed to talk, you could reach him. (What? He's got a very nice voice.)
  24. Porthos, from Star Trek :Enterprise, needs to be taken away from Captain Archer. Half the time, the poor pooch is neglected because of captain-ing. (Then you have the documented proof of abuse in the reboot movies, but that's a whole other thing.) I would give Porthos to Ralph Dineen, of Scorpion. He's a genius kid. He would be devising excellent ways to play with Porthos. He could- as network-mate Sherlock Holmes did earlier this season- figure out a more efficient/nutritious food mix for Porthos. Plus, his mom, dad, and surrogate family seem to always be somewhere far away for chunks of Ralph's day/week. Having a more consistent companion should be helpful in keeping things smooth for Ralph. (IIRC, Ralph prefers familiarity, but that might have been Paige.)
  25. The thing is? It didn't stop Brian from looking/investigating, it only added a level of obstruction/frustration. Piper is becoming an obsession for him. An understandable one, but still an obsession. Other than the Russian week, have they been really serious about each other? I was under the impression that Piper liked Brian, enjoyed being with him, but was totally keeping herself on track, wrt NZT and keeping herself and her personal agenda alive. Was I wrong to read Piper that way? I sort of feel for Naz. She's been doing her job well. She's finally got a way to maybe get ahead of this NZT thing, with this doofus Finch. He surprises her with good work and, when on NZT, turns in amazing work. Then Naz finds out about all the lies. She is stuck in a bad, but clearly defined, spot: Finch has to go. Naz has seen the pictures of previous test subjects. She seems to like Finch, but wouldn't want anyone else to actually end up like that. (Well, maybe Morra and Sands.) So as much as she might want to pull Finch in on the case? She can't. I think that's why Naz was more frustrated than angry at Brian. Not that she wasn't furious already.
