  1. My favorite thing about Angels Revenge--apart from their decision to not even pretend it's not a ripoff of Charlie's Angels--is that the woman are all billed below the men. The cop and the high school girl are actually played by sisters, and they wrote about their experiences as Hollywood sex workers in a book called You'll Never Make Love in this Town Again. Mary Jo Pehl and Bridget Nelson did a RiffTrax of the uncut version.
  2. It loses a little of that when you learn that Lorraine Gary was married to Sid Sheinberg, who was the head of Universal Pictures.
  3. Looks like the gang that remains at Las Encinas is going to be sticking around for the new season. Which unfortunately includes Cayetana. Although the tweet won't embed, dang it.

    The Star Wars Saga

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I think the Palpatine parts of RotS--prior to killing Mace--is legitimately the best acting in all nine movies. Of course, the only movies I like more than RotS are Empire and Rogue One, so what do I know.
  5. I've only seen Manos all the way through once. That was enough. I like seeing an inept auteur realize his vision, but at least things like The Room and Birdemic are watchable.
  6. Surprisingly, this mostly worked for me, although this may have been because they made the smart decision to involve both Eve and Ophelia. While I didn't necessarily like the idea of Connor going to jail--particularly since he was the one who did the least amount of bad shit--I did like that it gave him the chance to finally forgive himself. Whether getting Oliver as the reward for being able to do that is worth it, I will leave to personal interpretation. If I had one disappointment with the episode it was the music. This show has helped me discover a lot of electronica and ambient artists because it's always had a killer soundtrack, and they seemed to really drop the ball with this one.
  7. Go back and pick all three of the wrong choices in a row. You get a funny bonus scene. I didn't manage to find Mimi Kanassis,
  8. Despite all the silliness I surprisingly found the correct choice of Kimmy not killing the Reverend to be one of the most emotionally honest moments the show did. Maybe it was because it had the two of them face to face, but you could just see her put the trauma behind her. Don't get me wrong, I think writing Legends of Greemulax was the perfect ending, but like anything this show did about PTSD, I was there for it.
  9. A Lurian and thee Trill? This is the DS9 season.
  10. As a second-career doctor, I would love for them to continue the storyline with Hen, although I don't know how they could do that and keep her on the show.
  11. I can see having so cognitive dissonance with the combo of smartphones and landlines. But that's okay. Super charming teaser.
  12. The Dark Places Anthology is continuing apace with Little Hope. I'm into it.
  13. There was such a sweetness to BOYD that I wasn't expecting. He reminded me of Data. Even Gyro got to be more human. I had low expectations out of this one, but of the non-arc episodes we've gotten throughout the run of the series, this might honestly be my favorite.
  14. The team behind The Haunting of Hill House/Bly Manor will be adapting Midnight Club for Netflix. No indication that it's going to be part of that series, but they do say that they'll bring in elements of Pike's stories beyond just that one. The Haunting of Rotterdam Home is a good title, though...
  15. So, I spent the afternoon curled up in bed watching on Disney+. I was kind of wondering if divorced from the excitement of seeing it in the theater would make the flaws outweigh the good stuff. It didn't, though. The biggest kick came when I noticed that when the Falcon shows up at Exegol, flying right next to her is the Ghost from Rebels. Would it have killed them to at least have had Hera's voice over the radio?
  16. I wouldn't call Rise of Skywalker bad. Maybe on the high side of mediocre. But the music and visuals are lovely.
  17. Right, that's the Paramount Decree, from a Supreme Court case named United States vs Paramount Pictures that required the film studios to divest themselves of their theater chains. However, there have been legal challenges to it.
  18. There is litigation going on that seeks to either weaken or overturn the Paramount Decree. I wonder if depending on the outcome if Disney (if they're financially able do after getting hammered by COVID) might buy a bankrupt AMC. Not so much to make money, but to financially damage the other studios.
  19. One of the later Super Specials had Dawn working as a counselor at a day camp Susan attended. From my memory, they did a much better job. They had very good description of stimming and even reference Temple Grandin when Susan uses a hug machine when she gets overwhelmed.
  20. There were rumors a while back that Marvel was looking for a transgender actress for an unspecified role. Marvel's most prominent trans character is Angela's girlfriend Sera, so I'm still going with Angela, although I fully admit I guess wrong a lot of time.
  21. Just based on the pictures I can find of her, she'd make a great Angela. Could be Love and Thunder.
  22. Please use spoiler tags if you will be discussing any plot points prior to the game's official release, currently set for June 19th.
  23. I think the quality of the performance is generally inversely proportional to how long it takes me to recognize the voice. I honestly don't know if I would have realized Amy Poehler in Inside Out if the marketing hadn't said up front that she was Joy. Same was true of Kristen Bell. I had somehow managed to avoid all publicity about Frozen and honestly did not know it was her until after the movie. There are exceptions to that--Tom Hanks, Holly Hunter, and Ellen Degeneres have such distinctive voices they were never going to sound like anyone other than themselves. But they also play the characters as characters. On the other hand, the Rock plays himself in Moana, but he gets away with it because he's so affable.
  24. It's time, once again, for Ubisoft to churn out an Assassin's Creed game, this one Norse-themed.
  25. Robin Williams' wild success in Aladdin was ultimately a bad thing for animation. Once Pixar perfected the concept, it not only cost legitimate, talented voice actors work, it also encouraged absolutely lazy performances from celebrities just showing up for a paycheck. This is not universally true--Pixar generally does get at least decent performances, and Kristen Bell, among a few others, has turned out to be legitimately great at it--but most of them are humdrum.
