Season 20: All Episodes Talk: Heroin and More Heroin
sara416 replied to mythoughtis's topic in Intervention
I thought that was so strange too. 4 years is a long time and there are typically a lot of photos taken of babies and children in those first four years. They never saw a picture of their mother during pregnancy with them? No first birthday family photos? No question about where mom was until they were 18? I feel like there is something more to this story for sure. -
I couldn't stand so many people on that BB season, but I can think of a lot of others I would rather continue to see on my screen than Josh. I was so glad he went out so quickly last season. I doubt we will ever see Cody on a challenge. I'm not even sure why he was on BB. he hated the game, hated the people, and I think he hated reality TV (despite ending up on the Amazing Race). His head would explode in a Challenge House with the drunken stupidity.

Oh CT. I love you, but please go home and be with your wife and child. You look rough. Go away Josh. Seriously, just go. I am scared of the previews because if Turbo turns into an asshole I will be devastated. I absolutely loved his commentary about Sean being a little bunny. He makes me smile.

Joe E. Tata was my guess too.

I wear purple all the time. It's ridiculous how many purple tops I have. It was the lipstick I never thought I could pull off.

I still need to know more about Matt's situation. If he distanced himself from his parents and his sister after the divorce, I think he is actually the common denominator. I really wish we knew more about all his issues with this divorce because I think that would explain a lot. Shallow moment here: When Beth was doing her talking head in that lavender top, the combo of that color and her hair and lipstick was really pretty. I have red hair as well (not as orangey as hers though) and similar coloring to her and I never would have thought I could pull off that lip color. But she did.

Yes! I wanted this immediately!

S07.E13: Here's Where We Get Off
sara416 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Orange Is The New Black
One thing this finale did better than a lot of other finales have done was the way they incorporated everyone from the past into the show. It's a difficult task, because trying to shoehorn in characters that we haven't seen in years can be really contrived. But I think they did a great job of bringing them back without it seeming too forced. I cried several times. But one thing that really got to me was Natasha Lyonne sobbing during the out take at the end through the credits. You can tell she loved being a part of this show. I love that they made a real Poussey Washington Fund. I know it isn't the same concept as what they shared in the show but I think it is really important work. I only watched half of season 6, I got so bored. I started season 7 without finishing it and I feel like I missed nothing. This season felt back to when this show was good. It hit the issues without too much stupid filler. -
It was a tummy tuck. He wasn't nearly big enough to need weight loss surgery, it was cosmetic.

I kind of thought he looked phallic. I mean, a red rocket? Come on.

Season 20: All Episodes Talk: Heroin and More Heroin

Janine, I get it. the rehab model in this country sucks, to be frank. 28 days is long enough to detox and get you away from the people, places, and things that you need to get away from, but it is not long enough to teach you the long term coping skills that you need to face the life you left behind. Especially if there is trauma. Trauma takes time to work through, and a lot of rehabs have you work only on the substnace abuse which you cannot overcome unless you deal with the underlying issues. For her to have only 28 days clean and then find out her father, who she had a trauma bond with, had died of an overdose, it totally makes sense that she reverted back to her own coping skills. If you are thinking with your logical brain, you are going to say "I don't want to die like he did, so I'd better not use". But an addict brain does not think this way. She clearly didn't have the resilience built up yet to cope with it. Her aunt needs to learn some healthy boundaries though because she's not helping herself or her son. I can't believe Nicole is alive. It sounds cruel, but she really looks like the walking dead. And that whole area they are in is so sad. There are people just nodding off and passing out while standing up and no one blinks an eye. I'm not even going to start on the protestors that are angry about trying to get these people treatment instead of just kicking them out or arresting them. If I start on them I will never stop. -
I thought it was Lucky too! Took me a while to remember who Tim was too. He looks really different. Mercer got me right away with his voice.

It struck me at some point that he strongly resembles Noah Wylie from ER with this particular haircut and lower lighting.

Holy shit. I binged this so fast, I think I need a rewatch, but I'm not sure if I can handle it. Given the title of this episode, I knew it was either going to end with happiness or tragedy. I knew I'd be crying either way. This was so different than the movie, but I am okay with both. The movie was total fan service, as it should have been since it was funded by fans. It had a lot of callbacks and reappearances, it had a more cutesy feel, and it ended happy. But this was more noir, which RT had eluded to in interviews before. I remember him saying that at the core, that's what VM always was: noir. It was a lot darker than I thought in a lot of ways, but it was great. There were just enough callbacks to things for fan service but it still moved on into it's own thing. As soon as that alert came through to Logan I knew they were going to pull a Jack McKay, and I was desperately hoping I was wrong. Veronica 2.0 (Maddy) was a little heavy handed, but I liked it anyway. The actress was good. I know that KBell is a huge true crime fan and loves Keith Morrison, so the little true crime easter eggs throughout the series made me smile.

I don't want to blame Cliff for winning in any way, because he absolutely killed that competition and I like that the toekn old guy has made it back twice when his role is typically one of the first to go in this show. If he were up against 3 other people I would have been over the moon. But it's like I can't be happy about it because it's such poor form to have three of the four people of color out of the house now. I didn't dislike anyone in this cast right away like I did in season 15 where I hated almost all of them on sight, but this season is proving to be full of just as many racist bullies as that one. Last night was uncomfortable to watch.

I know a lot of people were frustrated with Callie and her behavior on the Fosters, but I was able to chalk that up to normal teenage "save the world" actions with an underdeveloped frontal lobe and no thought for future consequences. But here she is supposed to be, what, 24? Come on. I know that is still young, but it isn't so young that you continue to make such stupid mistakes where you just aren't thinking. Also, there are a lot of couples out there who just cancel out each other's votes in elections. Your registered party doesn't mean anything really, as long as your values align with each other in your relationship. There are rational and irrational people in all poitical parties. I like Raj and Mariana together, but I am Team Raj on this one. She messed up. I hope he takes some time and cools off and comes back to her.

S21.E05: Live Eviction #1; Head of Household #2

Does anyone else think that, over the years, the announcer has gone from normal to trying to hard at a strip club to having some sort of brain issue? "Next time, on BIGGGGGGGG BROTHERRRRRRRRRRRRR!" has gotten crazy at this point. He's going to have a stroke if he keeps forcing it that hard. -
I've said it before, but I really don't want Davia and Dennis to become a couple. I love their frienship and really hope it stays that way. Are we supposed to be on Callie's side over all of this? Because I'm really not. Maybe I'm finally too old for this show? I mean, listen, I'm a social justice advocate. I go to protests, I write letters to appropriate people, I will stand up for people who don't have a voice of their own. But even bright eyed and bushy tailed 20 somethings don't really think they can take on an entire system or a person like a conservative jude and change them, do they? We don't need to live in an echo chamber, and it is good to get the experience, but she knew what she was signing up for. And to go in an yell at him like she did is just so unprofessional. You want to yell and scream, go to a protest or a march. You want to be an influence on someone like a judge, you do it in a professional manner and don't yell at him. Also, I have heard that it is not terribly uncommon to fail the bar the first time you take it. I'm sure it is devastating, I had to take an exam for my profession as well and was terrified that I would fail. But the bar is known for not always passing the first time, right?

S09.E02: Something Borrowed, Something New
sara416 replied to humbleopinion's topic in Married At First Sight
Did I miss something with Matt? I actually watched the casting show this year, which I don't always and his extreme reaction to his parents divorce seems odd to me. Full disclosure, my parents are still married after 40+ years so I have no idea how I would react. However, for them to not even be told about the wedding I feel like something major must have happened, more than just a marriage ending. There's a bigger story here and my therapist brain wants to know! -

I had the same thought. My wedding dress was white too. And not for the same reason as Iris. All of my friends have also worn white dresses. It's really not a big deal. -
brett's relapse and behavior sadly did not surprise me. His family's attitude toward everything was not helpful at all. Morgan needs some self confidence, stat! It seems like she really developed some while she was in treatment and I hope her husband either gets help or stays far away from her.

I don't think I have ever uttered "holy shit" so many times in an Intervention episode, with the exception of maybe Christy. I was not surprised Sean relapsed, but it was heartbreaking to watch. He was genuinely so mad at himself right afterward. I could not believe the transformation of the dad. He looked like an entirely different person. I'm also not a huge fan of Donna, but she did a great job shutting down grandma last night. Someone needed to do it, and grandma wasn't responding to anyone being gentle with her. I can't imagine anyone else handling this particular family.
-
I was so irritated when Cara said "Behind every woman acting crazy is a man who made her that way." UGH!! You are your own person! Own your shit, woman. No man "made" you crazy. For all your hard ass feminist stuff, you sure did set that back with that one little asinine comment. I just can't with her anymore.

It almost seems like he is putting on an act though. I think it might only be a matter of time until we get a meltdown. He and Christie seem drugged or something. Christie saying that the elephants don't seem to like being yelled at and Colin being all zen is just strange.
