  1. Thank you for that info! That's fascinating that she injured herself that badly with it, but I can see how that could happen. I'm going to sit next to you on the shallow bus (okay, maybe I'll social distance with you on the shallow bus) because Bay is hair goals every episode.
  2. You are just providing some pretty sweeping judgements about someone who, from what we have seen, is functioning just fine, as well as giving incorrect diagnostic information, out of date and offensive phrasing, and assuming the worst about someone who is dealing with a very common mental health diagnosis. I agree about the editing, this is one of the most highly and obvuiously edited reality shows that I have seen. But for dramatic purposes, they absolutely would have shown Miles in a depressive episode if they had that to go on. I don't have an issue with your opinion that certain things should be disclosed, but it's also up to that person to disclose them. And he did a great job of disclosing it and stating his needs.
  3. Miscommunication. I totally agree with you. Masks are definitely NOT useless. Agreeing with you, disagreeing with the post you quoted.
  4. I'm at a point in this show now that I haven't seen before. I didn't last very long the first time around apprently, because of my aforementioned tendency to multitask while watching tv. I kind of like that this show makes me stop doing that and focus on what I am watching so I am actually watching tv to relax and not just for background noise. I was impressed that this show didn't try to go with some very dramatic storyline with Regina going back to rehab. She didn't drink and drive, she didn't do something craxy, she jjust started drinking again and realized she needed help. So often shows will go for something over the top to get someone to realize they need help and they didn't with Regina. I appreciate her willingness to stop and get the help she needs before it got to that point. I just finished the episode where she left. I realized this week that the Angelo actor really reminds me of Goran Visnjic. The complexion and dark hair and somewhat brooding persona at times gets me. I still don't like him though. @Scarlett45, my app sometimes skips episodes too. I'm not sure I realized it until recently. That being said, did I miss something with REgina and how she injured her wrist? Things were fine, and then suddenly she was wearing a brace and it became so bad that she couldn't cut hair or sign anymore. I really feel like I missed something and the story line was bigger than that. I'm totally with you on Travis. It baffles me why his family never learned to sign. As a society though, we always default to the "norm". We want deaf people to adapt to be more like hearing people, we want blind people to find accomodations to be more like seeing people, and we want anyone with another disability to find ways to exist in the rest of the world. More and more I am hearing calls of "snowflake" when all people are asking are for accomodations to be made for people who do not have the privilege to be ambualtory with all senses in tact and no physical or mental health conditions. It's infuriating. I can completely understand what Daphne and the other students were saying and why they don't want more hearing kids at their school, especially if they are not going to be forced to learn ASL or sign. THen it becomes just like any other school, where they are expected to adapt instead of the other way around.
  5. Yes. They are especially useless here because cloth masks like that protect everyone else from what the wearer may have. The HGs have been quarantined before they entered the house and have had no contact with anyone else since. Therefore, Julie is at absolutely no risk from any of them, especially since they are 10 feet apart.
  6. Hi. I'm a therapist and also one of those "chronic depressives" that you mention. The diagnosis is Major Depressive Disorder. Chronic Depression and Clinical Depression aren't even actually diagnoses. Also, it's pretty important to use person first language, as in "a person with depression" or "a person with a diagnosis of depression". It is important to disclose these conditions to someone in a serious relationship, but it seems like Miles is doing just fine. Depression is a chronic illness and can absolutely be under control. Managing your emotions is a major part of everyone's reality, and he was able to tell her what it will look like and what he will need when he is struggling. The way you talk about a person with depression is really offensive and invalidating.
  7. Yep. Day was on the Challenge, so was Josh (ugh), the twins from a few seasons ago, Bayleigh and Swaggy (ugh again), Fessy, and Kasey (who is way to good of a person for that shit show).
  8. This isn't The Challenge. We don't need to make this into a Rookie vs Vet situation. I remember Dan's season vividly, but I remember nothing about Memphis. Weird. Please win the Veto, David. I think he got so screwed last season and really should get the chance to see what he can do. That being said, he really needs to start playing, including being more social and talking to people in the house. I don't watch the live feeds, but the edits have shown him to be pretty invisible thus far.
  9. I'm going to own my ableism here and say that I honestly had never thought about this as a part of deaf culture. I've definitely felt that as a woman, which is why I NEVER miss an opportunity to vote. But I've never given much thought to the specific people that would have fought for the rights of deaf and other communities like that. I have also noted that since watching this show, likely because I'm watching several episodes at a time, I have started actually picking up on some ASL! It's like when you spend a lot of time around a person who has a specific accent or vernacular and you start incorporating that into your own speech. I'm finding myself wanting to talk with my hands more. I really like that I'm absorbing some of this.
  10. I'm rewatching HvV right now. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I thought Russel played a brilliant game on his first season and I don't hate him. If he and Rob would have put their damn egos away for this season, they could have run this show. Also, I keep finding myself going "Who the hell is Danielle?" every time her name is mentioned. I don't remember her at all from previous play, and she's practically invisible this season.
  11. Yeah, not an Angelo fan. I finally finished Season 1. I like the $1 judgement actually. Like John said, it wasn't about the money, but now it will be on record forever that there was a judgement against the hospital. I think it's horseshit that Angelo got anything, but they needed a plot device, so there it was. It takes about 12 hours to get from KC to San Antonio, so that whole trip there and back was kind of ridiculous. I know I keep nitpicking this, but since I lived in KC for a bit, it's easier for me to pick at. Bay was so incerdibly stupid to take that money from the safe. Even for a teenager, that was STOOOOOPID. She does have amazing hair though. And she was such a waste of a character on Gilmore Girls, it's nice to see her actually shine as an actress. Oh Daphne. Naive, sweet, Daphne. I think so many people can relate to her thinking that she was going to have a relationship and a future with Jeff because she was just so enamored with him. Heartbreak sucks. Heartbreak really sucks when you are a teenager. She, also, has fabulous hair. On to season 2!
  12. I'm still not done with season 1, because these seasons are MASSIVE! I hate what Melody did to Bay by putting her in the middle of the custody thing. She had no right to do that. I know we have to suspend our disbelief in a lot of shows, but in my experience with kids and court systems, the girlfriend of the child means absolutely nothing to the court. Speaking of suspension of disbelief...seasons? Any? Fall? Winter? Anything? This drives me nuts when shows do this. I understand it is cheaper, but just set the show in California! I'm so sad about Wilke. I actually really liked him. He was like a poor man's Dick Casablancas (from Veronica Mars) but I liked hi, because he had more heart. Any particular reason he was written off? I think he and Daphne made a good couple and I don't think they had to be endgame or anything, but he could have stuck around longer.
  13. So the boys just left for the festival in St. Louis. Now I remember why I gave up on this show so long ago: I am a multitasker while watching TV and a show about deaf people does not lend itself well to this! I am going to keep going though, because it was nice to have a rewatch of Degrassi with you, @Scarlett45, so I'll do this too! I lived in KC for a year and my husband is a native, so there are some things about this that are driving me nuts. First of all, the weather. If they wanted this set in CA, they should have just done it. I'm wondering if we will get seasons. Supposedly it is October in the show but the trees are green and the boys just supposedly drove across the state in a convertible. I am feeling Bay with the "everyone loves Daphne" vibe. It does seem like things are all about her and Bay gets left out. Angelo is a creep, right? Something is up. From what Regina described, I did not picture this very well put together man. I know people can be in recovery and change, but I got the impression that he was an addict as well and it doesn't seem like we're getting any mention of this. Did I remember wrong?
  14. First cast in a long time where I haven't immediately hated at least one person! I'm sure some of them will annoy me and I have zero memory of some of them though. I haven't watched since the beginning and I cannot remember the first season I watched, so the flashbacks helped last night. There are TWO black women on the show, which is huge for BB. This cast is so much more diverse than past casts and I really hope it doesn't get automatically whittled down to young, attractive, white people. Let's see David run this game, he deserves to play it out. I remembered that Danielle was very thin on her first season, but looking back at those clips it is just painful to see how skinny she was. She's looking great now, motherhood has been wonderful to her.
  15. YES! I thought I was the only one who was getting gross vibes from Woody. He's trying to hard and fawning too much. Something isn't genuine with him and I don't like it.
  16. I started watching the first season of that show and then kind of lost track of it. I think that's something my brain could handle right now. I'll join you.
  17. *whisper* I actually like Last Exit. I need something else to rewatch for sure. I don't have the brainpower to start something new and teen based television that I have seen before seems exactly the speed I need right now. A friend of mine has been watching Alexa and Katie with her daughter and loves it, but I actually have to pay attention to it because I've never seen it before. Schitt's Creek has been my go to.
  18. I had forgotten about that line where they said they arrived at 2am. Thanks!
  19. I watched the Spring Break episiode the other day and the time spent driving doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I know they just said they were going to Florida and did not give a specific location, but it would have taken a long time to get from CT to FL, right? Even "shaving 3 hours off the mapquest time" would still have them driving for almost a full day, right? Just for fun I looked at New Haven to Daytona Beach and it is almost 17 hours.
  20. Oh my gosh, she WAS in Party of Five! I hadn't realized that! I'm sad that got cancelled too, it had a lot of potential.
  21. I finished last night. I forgot how much I liked Lola as a character. She was really intuitive about people for the most part and I don't think her friends gave her enough credit. Esme was a mess. They kept trying to say it was after they found Maya on the roof that she went downhill but she was a mess her entire time on the show. I wish we would have had more about her backstory other than just being told it. I realized that I wasn't as attached to these people at the end of the season when they graduated as I have been with previous classes. I'm not really sure why, other than I feel like we only had a few of them for the entirety of high school. The refugee storyline was current, but I think I would have felt more about these characters if the show would have gone on and we would have gotten to know them more.
  22. I liked Maya's hair better with the curls too. Also on the shallow bus...Craig Manning. Yum.
  23. I know for sure that there are women who would never identify as pro-choice until it happened to them. But it felt weird that the religious aspect wasn't even mentioned. And nothing by her mom either when she found out she was pregnant. On another note, I think the casting of Tiny and Vince was really spot on. They look like they could absolutely be brothers and their voices even have a similar quality to me.
  24. I wateched! Interestingly, I noted that the copyright at the end of the episode was 2018. Have they been sitting on these episodes that long? Or were these shown in Canada but not in the US until now?
